flip clock an hour ahead [SOLVED] - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

my flip clock on the new mdeejay froyo HD build is an hour ahead of the time on the top right.
it flips to an hour ahead, never seen this before.
any ideas?
(pic attached)

I have the same, in WinMo Goatrip ROM as well as when running Mattc's 1.8...I travel a lot and somehow the HD2 is not recognising The Daylight Saving Time in Europe but setting the time I.e. in Dubai to 3 hours ahead though it is only 2 hours.
The little clock top corner displays the correct time according to the applicable time zone...strange...

if you hit "automatic time" in the time/date settings this seems to fix it

Battery Issue 1024LEO

I've been looking around for a long time but I haven't found a way to overcome the hell-like battery drain.
I tried to delete MMtaskmanager from windows/startup, I tried to flash different customized roms, but it doesn't seem that the problem is getting better.
Now I'm with RomeOS ROM 4.05, HSPL 2.08. Battery drain is horrible.
Someone said it might be a problem of HSPL2, but I don't think there is another version of HSPL for 1024LEO available.
May I have any ideas from someone here?
Thanks in advance.
The HSPL is just a bootloader, so I can't see that being the issue. Here is what I did:
- Go into \Windows\StartUp and delete "MMTaskManagerhook.lnk" - this is a big savings according to NRG (reboot)
- Turn off your auto "weather" and "stock market" refresh
- Go into Start > Tools > "Device Lock" (present in the NRG ROMs) and uncheck "enabled" and "lock if playing music"
- Turn down your screen's brightness and/or put on "automatically adjust backlight" (this is a huge savings as well)
Using the "tBattery" app located in Start > Tools > tBattery, my temperature is around 26' C and the draw is around -150 to -160. At idle (suspend), it is around -4 to -5.
It has also been said that the "Document Indexing" service and the .mp3 indexing service can cause quick battery drain if you have a lot of documents and/or if you have a corrupt .mp3.
You can turn those off as well, but an easier way would be to remove your MicroSD card and see if the battery drains slower. If that is the case, then you have an issue with or on your MicroSD card.

I dunno if it is in the MaxManila version, but it is present in the CookieMonster version.
Take a look in TaskManager and see if you have the MMTaskManagerhook.exe running.
Thanks for the tip. I'm giving this a go right now.
FYI, I'm experiencing battery drain on Energy. I've been reading that this is an issue with lots of roms.

Hello,
I am new to this phone, but not new to flashing and other things with HTC phones. One thing that I have always noticed with them is their battery life is horrible, and as the screens get bigger and more data intensive things are going on, the battery life is not going to be great.
How much time are you getting, a few hours, a day, half a day? Depending on usage and such, don't expect anything more than a day.
Also, if you can do the things that are noted, it will help significantly.
I have the stock rom and the battery life is horrible... worse than my n900 which sucks...
I read everywhere online how great the htc hd2 battery is.. 52hrs of up time? with mild use.. I get less than 10 with mild use.. and only 2-3 with heavy use..
I have had many phones this past year and so far this is by far the worse..
I have made my email update less.. turned off all auto updates as well..
I don't have many apps installed and have reset the device once already.
Screen brightness is set to auto..
Any ideas?

Thanks for your reply. I just sold my HD. I remember my HD could go 1.5 days the same usage as my HD2. But HD2 could only make around 6hrs. I'm sure there is something wrong with the battery system oh HD2.

Tbattery
Hi, is any one here so nice to give a link to tbattery0.56? tbattery0.6 does not work on HD2, it will give out weird and huge numbers....I'm defeated by the battery, frustrating..
For me, the battery drain is all about the screen. The radios are actually pretty efficient. I've got weather/twitter/stock updating frequently (30/30/5 mins), and two push email services humming along (exchange/hotmail), and the phone barely sucks any battery if its just hanging out on my desk, pulling from data every few minutes. Talk time appears pretty good, too.
When my battery disappears absurdly fast is when I'm using the screen. Text messaging, web browsing, emailing....even light-moderate usage here sucks it down fast.
Other than turning down your brightness, I don't know what you can really do about that one. As screens get bigger, but batteries don't (in fact, my Palm Treo 755 had an 1800 mAh battery, Droid 1400, HD2 1230), battery life is going to suffer.

this was, in fact, my biggest concern. Big screen means more power. All the reviews I've read indicated I should be getting better than I have been, which is bothersome. I'm tempted to revert to a stock rom and give it a go.

The current seems about right in all honesty. Even though you *think* that it is idle, there is stuff going on behind the scenes (your screen, for example, takes up A LOT of power).
Go ahead and load up 0.5x or whatever and see if you get anything different.

Yes. You are right. I was just going to update, with microSD inserted and compass program running and tbattery running, the current is around -222. Now I stopped all the running programs in task manager, current seems to be -162.

Clock losing time

I am experiencing my clock loses time when not connected to Power (from PC or the Charger); in just one hour approx. 30minutes?!
As soon as I connect to Power (and WiFi or Network enabled) then Auto sync sets the time correctly....
Also - if I turn the Legend totally Off then it'll pick up the correct time when turned On again (if Network enabled that is), but again it starts losing the time right away if Power is not applied.
And - just leaned I believe, that if I keep the screen from turning off it will also keep the time (to be tested further though).
It looks very much like the internal Clock for the Time-keeping (RTC) is reduced by 2 when it enters the different power saving modes; overnight it lost exactly 4 hours in 8 hours being turned Off....?! There seems to be a clear relationship between the power management of the Legend and the RTC/Time-keeping.....
Very annoying as my Legend was supposed to keep all my daily appointments
BUT all that said - I love the shape and looks and feel and the speed of the Legend
Anybody any clues - I would surely appreciate good advices as HTC have duck their heads?

Camera picture time saved

When I take a picture and save to storage card the save time is 5 hours later than when the picture was actually taken. So if taken at 12am it saves to card with time 5am. This doesn't happen if I transfer files to card from pc. I am not sure if this is rom dependent I am using Elegance E-CHT 9.5 but was also there in 8.5. Any thoughts?
Are you by chance in the eastern time zone? If you are sounds like it might be saving them with a timestamp of the GMT time zone, Eastern time is -5 from GMT. Check the time zone settings on your phone.
Well I am in Chicago area so time is -6 here and that is what the phone is set to. Strange issue not sure what is going on.

Adjust for Daylight Savings Time and you get -5, so there you are.
So the camera app is using GMT. Is there a setting to change that? It seems odd that it doesn't use local time.
It might be your rom. I'm using the stock TMOUS rom and it saves the time correctly -- I'm in Chicagoland also so, it's not a "location bug"
I just tested this with the Energy June 19th rom , camera saves time to local time, so that problem is not here either ...
Well I looked a little closer and if I enable time stamp it is correct local time on picture but in file manager and file properties it is GMT. Weird issue but not worth loosing sleep over. I am using E-CHT Elegance 9.5 rom.

R2BA020 review

No matter how much SE can piss me off, I have to say they did a good job with the last update R2BA020 .
I did fully charge my battery, did not use any task killer or such only kept adw launcher. With a normal use the battery last me a little over 48 hours I was at 10% when i devided to recharge it again.
-Around 2 hours of video
-4 hours of reading with Aldiko
-1 hours of internet
-Around 50 txt msg
-20 call 5-15 min each
-3 Pictures
-4 Hour of music while reading
-Email and weather widget run to update every hour
-Fancy widget running
-Bluetooth on all the time
-Gps and wifi was off all the time
Bottom line it’s impressive, now I really can enjoy my device without carrying a charger and searching for an outlet all the time .
I completely agree, the 020 firmware is fantastic. My usage differs slightly but even using Bluetooth to listen to Spotify all day didn't drain my battery. Neither did using my phone as a wireless 3G modem with Wifi tethering.
Well, yes, nice improvements but the WIFI is still using a lot of juice
wifi is confirmed using alot.
the phonebook is now kind of stupid...
when you click a person's name, their contact shows up, and when you tap their phone #...instead of calling that person directly it would bring you to the dialer screen with the # entered in and you need to press "call" to call the person...
i mean..if im in someones contact page and i tap their #..im pretty sure i want or need to call them....i really dont understand the point of bringing the dialer screen up again..pretty stupid on SE's part in my opinion
Well a quicker step would be to long hold their name and call them
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Well, I've rooted my device yesterday, started using it massively around 3 or 4 am to reconfigure everything and now its battery is at 8%:
throughout all the process wifi was used for internet (when needed, of course), 3g/gps/bluetooth turned off.
* Installed a lot of apps, some using barcode scanner, some using appbrain.
* Synced with google
* Restored a backup
* Reconfigured a lot of apps
* around 6 sms
* tweeted 2 or 3 times
* 5 to 10 calls 10m~ each
* listened to music through the day (around 2 hours of music, simple last fm scrobbler was used to cache the data, didn't scrobbled yet)
* read a pdf book around 1 hour
* some random usage through the day, like checking online stuff.
* Since I go to work using the subway, the signal reception is quite poor, so the phone prolly was searching for signal during the day.
Even wifi draining a lot of battery, the phone battery was quite good for everything that I've done today.
Apart from the battery the whole system feels better, all the UI customizations done by SE are faster (timescape, mediascape, dialer and so on).
I can say, like all of you, SE did a good job on this update. I can't wait for the Q3 2.1 release. Seriously, I want 720p video recording so much
Greetings guys,
Whats the difference R2BA020 and B2FA020.
Thanks for your kind reply.

this was the thing i looked forward to getting the most out of this upgrade but no much difference i notice, still can't hear very well in any outside environment

I was on fw 16 and it was a litter bit low but still fine, didn't notice any difference between 16 and 20 tho.
never heard of B2FA020 - Think it might have been a typo on someone's part?
Screen off while in call.
Not to start a new thread, I'll pin my question to this one. I've updated to R2BA020 (O2 Irl branded) and noticed that whenever in call the screen is not turning off, as it used to before. Did anyone else experienced this problem?

check your screen time out settings in the settings/ display/ screen timeout section.. it may be that it's reverted to a longer timeout period or to not time out at all.

Nope, still @ 15 seconds...
Though overall battery usage seems to be better with R2BA020 (Rogers), I've run into an odd issue:
When tethering via PdaNet, my battery drains at an alarming rate. It dropped 20% in the past hour. This wasn't the case before I upgraded (was using stock Rogers firmware before) - it would drain, but much more slowly, going from 100% to maybe 55% over the course of the 8 hours I was at work tethered. It's almost as if it's not charging at all via USB (or is charging much more slowly than before).
I checked, and the phone does register as charging while tethered. So I'm not sure what exactly the issue is. Nothing else has changed.
-edit-
Turned off PdaNet during a meeting I had today just to make sure my X10 is charging properly via USB, and sure enough it is (gained 12% charge over the hour).
after updating into R2BA020, my sim tool kit and play now were gone. Now, I want them back (especially STK). Does anyone know how to do it? My X10 is not rooted yet.
I'm pretty happy with the new Facebook app. It got rid of the "Camera" icon on the mainscreen and replaced it with "Inbox", which makes so much more sense.
My ringtones got reset, and I noticed that Astro File Manager lost a few file associations. I'm prompted for all sorts of default apps etc now, but it's just a minor annoyance.
I did the update through the Sony Ericsson PC Software. The first boot after update took a very long time on the Rogers splash screen. I was afraid the device was bricked for a couple of minutes. I guess it was just the first boot, and the Xperia was restoring all my user data.
Does anyone have comparison between R2BA020 and R2BA023? appreciate if it includes benchmarking between them.

ICS in Note
After upgrading to ICS via kies,
Battery seems to drain very fast.
Camera hangs up sometimes and other camera related apps like Instagram also but maybe the pic quality is little better.
It seems to crash when some other apps runs too.
Not sure if it was there before but I can pause music and video if I show my palm on the screen.
The screen rotates faster than in GB with a pause at the beginning though.
News fonts are good.
Window animations are good but still dont' know how to stop it since it might be draining battery fast.
Can use Chrome now and it's fast.
I cannot use Mass Storage Mode. I recieve a "Ui stopped to work" error.
I am facing,
1. High android OS usage. Sometime its higher than Brightness, and most of the time its highest usage of batt after brightness. (I read somewhere, it said its calculation errors, but I think its not, cause my battery no longer last that long.)
2. Camera will sometimes fail to operate. I really dunno what is wrong with that.
3. Phone just cant go into deep slp. Its being kept awake by some apps (Which I cant narrow it) Using BetterBatteryStats, I found out its I2_HSIC. (Whats this I2_HSIC ??)
I am using a 5400mAh mugen batt. previously on GB, my usage can last me 24hrs, now it can only last 16hrs or less. I installed lesser apps, and lesser widgets. Disable account sync and google backup. Settings more or less kept the same.
Overnight my batt can reduce by 21%, it never happened before. lol. ICS...

Occasionally, usually about 1 time per day, My phone display will start to flash, with random green and red colors. The screen I'm on, will flash those colors then star to shake and slide.
It looks like a television station not tuned quite right on an analog antenna (if anybody remembers that!)
I can't reproduce it regularly, but It think it has happened when going from an Application, back to the home screen using the home button.
I am on ICS, Taiwan, stock, not rooted.

I can get the screen back by just waiting it out. Usually takes about 2 minutes. I sure do wish I knew what was happening, though, so I could confirm no damage was being done.

As far as #2 goes, go to your battery stats and see if "media" is listed. If so, force close it and try again. Seems to work for me. I'm not sure if it is just me or not because I have been playing with settings lately, but the media scanner tends to run wild it seems (also seems to lend to battery drain).
I am just disappointed that they left out some of the nice features of ics like the updated gallery and camera. Seems kind of lazy to me and no wonder things arent working well if they are mix and matching gingerbread and ics rather than going all in and starting development from there. I would definitely go back to using one of the non tw ics roms if it weren't for the sod issues I was having...

- Battery life seems to be strange as sometime drain is too high and sometime i feel it's better then it was on GB. yet to track the exact pattern but in either case no wireless, no gps, no Bluetooth and Brightness @ 10%.
- opening contacts taking few seconds but now search on exchange server is well integrated.
-i have enabled 'face unlock' and sometime it will not respond at all so keep doing lock/unlock till get restored.
.......and I am unable to find s-note application, i tried under system/app as well but as don't know apk name not sure. can someone help pls.

I also got that green bands screen you describe. I held down the lock button til the phone rebooted. I think I was using the Dolphin Browser at the time.

I have a bug I have not seen mentioned.
Anybyody else seen this?

1. Poor battery.
2. Sync errors: calendar sync freezes up every once in a while
3. Brightness slider in notification bar gone, tasker can not effect change of brightness anymore, only choice is to keep automatic brightness on, otherwise blinded out in sun.
4. Contacts and phone apps show up in 5s or more to load: need to switch to those ugly dialers, no choice at all
5. No widgets menu in app drawer as in nexus ICS
6. Launchers freezing: tried both nova and apex: many a times the screen went blank for a few seconds after hitting home (didn't crash though)
