is it authenticated support though?
i've tried transproxy 3.02 previously however without setting up any iptables or anything else..but didnt work ..dont know if 3.05 will work or if you did something extra.
Authenticated proxy didnt work with me .i tried the transproxy 3.05 in beta but the browser displays nothing
transproxy work on wildfire with basic authentication, but not with NTLM authentication. test it on my WildFire.
can be found here in desire forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=766569

Hi
i am having a problem with browing any website on my PPC, the problem is that when i try to open any webpage it stalls on 1kb and it only opens the page partially.
I read another post and they managed to solve this by selecting the correct encoding which was Western European. is there any other possible reasons why this type of behaviour will be experienced on the device?
hope te hear from the superior knowledge of the forum members.

I had that problem when I used one of the custom roms. When I flashed the stock t-mobile ROM, it went away almost completely. Once in a great while it'll happen but I'm talking like twice since going with a stock rom. Couldn't tell you what the difference was as the stock rom performance was fine and I didn't really care enough to look into it further.

I'm pretty sure it's a connection issue (I've had similar problems with, say, non-CrEme 4.1 + Toonel pre .54 combinations - see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/ConfigureToonel45.asp for more info).
BTW, what ROM do you have?
MTU settings could it be the reason ??
Hi
Just to let you no, recently i travelled to another country and i decided to get a sim card and test my device in this country, surprisingly it worked fine i could browse with no problems.
only from in my country on my network do i get this strange behaviour.
Do u think its related to the MTU settings ? if i adjust this then mayb it will allow me to browse, judging from your response i noticed that this option that you suggested is to reduce bandwidth usage therefore allowing to view pages faster.
Thanks kindly
reo
Yeah, this seems to be a problem with your wireless operator. (You could still give a try to it in a, say, inexpensive, GPRS-capable "dumb" phone like the S-E t68i / t610 connected to your PDA / notebook)

You can surely give a try to Toonel (I've BTW linked in Toonel because, under WM5, the (old) Java version has exactly the same problems with old(er) Java environments - I've elaborated on this problem a lot in my articles. That is, the problem was similar to that of yours).
thanks for your help it is most informative, i am currently loading the toonel to test and i will post my results here.
thanks again

setup using newer versions of the program, i hope it does not create an incorrect behviour.
setup toonel have just a quick query
Hi
i have managed to setup toonel version .50, using creme 4.21. i have pIE and this all on a WM5 OS.
i did not utilise the link i just executed directly from the toonel.jar file.
now it is running but i would like to just clearify that i done it correctly.
about the connections i used the method u suggested and created a new connection under the top selection which is used for programs to connect directly to the internet and named it toonel, and made all the adjustments on proxy, i also put the details of the modem which is the GPRS connection for my country.
now i am ready to use.
i have a question about the tab in Toonel called WEB, is there any setting that i should have setup in here, it has a an option called Parent Proxy address.
Regards
reo
HI
ok, i had to reset the device for things to start working properly.
now i hve to use the link, it doesnt set creme as the default JVM. so after i execute i get an error saying **cant find class client.WebUI
im sure there it is a path issue, but not sure about where is the web.ui
reo
Don't struggle with the Java version - use the new PPC-based one. See http://pocketpcmag.com/blogs/menneisyys/ConfigureToonel54.asp .
(Sorry, I've linked in the older Java version because it produced exactly the same symptomps under WM5 as yoour case, not because it's the Toonel version I recommend for you.)
hi
ok, i see. the behaviour i am experincing you noticed it using Toonel java version.
have you get any ideas what could be causing my problem ?
Now we no that it is probably a problem at my network, however is there any way to over come this ?
i actually noticed 1 thing, Magician S100 QTEK works on my network properly!!
any ideas what could be the difference ?
what are the chances that it is related to the UAProfile ? if so how could it effect the browsing ?

no luck with toonnel with "unlimited internet tzones"
now that tzones offers "unlimited internet" ( http://jkontherun.blogs.com/jkontherun/2006/12/got_tmobile_tzo.html ) I tried to use toonel with my wizard to speed up the connexion but didn't have any chance ... I tried the 3 versions on http://toonel.net/downloads.html (I even installed the Creme JVM) though ... some ports must still be closed ...
any idea/comment anybody ?
PS :
the good thing with "tzones unlimited internet" is that I can now use opera mini, gmail java, google maps java, etc ...
i had the same problem with uk tmobile. i called them and they said it would be fixed soon-and a few days later it was!!
maybe call your network provider before messing with your phone settings

Hi,
I've used Juicy's ROMs (v1.08) and MSR 1.1 and both of them do not permit SSH input.
I've tried both pocketputty and Pragma VT, and nothing works. I can't pass any ls or any command after logging in (Pragma VT passes username and password through application, so that atleast let's me log in).
I think this is an underlying problem and not a ROM issue, can someone please help me figure this out?
Thanks!
---
Solution:
Thanks to jxent for pointing me in the right direction.
Basically, it's not the software's fault or any ROM's fault. What matters is the input type you use.
Full qwerty and compact qwerty just don't work on here. The trick is to use the "keyboard" input method and then you're golden.
Good luck, and thanks for everyone else who banged their head for me, including but not limited to Juicy, Mightymike, Juggalo_X and others.
I'm using the GFTC kitchen from ppcgeeks, and ssh with putty works fine. I'm using the stock kitchen with a couple apps added and some preset phone settings.

Weird, cuz both the ROMS I've used are off the GFTC kitchen.
I've again tried with pocketputty, to nogo. Currently using MSR 1.1.
Devileyez, can you try my 2.4.1 ROM when it goes up tonight?
I want to know if the issue is resolved.
Why do you need SSH input btw?

I'll try it out over the weekend and let you know.
I'm a telus diamond owner and have used pocketputty on the stock ROM, as well as several versions of Juicy (I'm currently on 2.2). It has always worked for me, using both password and private/public key authentication.
*However*, I've noticed that it typically takes over 90 seconds to reach the login prompt. For whatever reason, I can lower that time to about 15 seconds if I repeatedly bang on the enter key after pressing "Open".
In answer to Carty's question, I use it to securely tunnel remote desktop connections.

I don't know why you had to answer Carty's question. It was like a Grade 2 question. Besides, he's not asking why do you need ssh.. he's asking why do you need ssh input?

I answered his question, as I understood it, because he asked. There's no point discussing that interpretation with you - if he wishes to clarify the question I'm sure he will. There is simply no need for elitist responses like yours. What if he *is* in grade 2?
You seem more concerned with this than my attempt to answer your own question. Did I help you at all in regard to your original problem?

Ofcourse. You actually helped pitch in with the others who said it works on Juicy 2.4*. So, I've decided to wait for a 2.* version that has no data speed problems and battery drain issues (like everyone on 2.4.1 seems to complain about) and I will flash that one.

I mentioned I had some issues with speed, but I was playing around with PRL, and a hard reset fixed it.
Well, Juicy's 2.5 don't fix it and neither does MSR1.2. Gonna try GFTC Kitchen 1.04 now.
SSH using Pragma VT or PocketPutty doesn't work. I'm able to login via PragmaVT because, as stated before, it passes login credentials from the program itself.
Make that GFTC 1.05 ROM.
Ok, nope. Doesn't work anywhere.
The only place left to try is TELUS stock ROM. This is the weirdest thing ever.
Solution posted on first post.
Thanks for all the help!
There you all are, bragging about latest Rom updates and customisations and this and that and here we are stuck with T-Mobile Rom 1.43.110.2 release date 28/10/09. Loads of things that don't quite work and no support from T-Mobile......I feel that we have been mugged. Would the sale of goods act work for us if we beat the drum loudly enough?
Just Gold Card it and stick on your choice of ROM.
1.61 WWE/TUR works fine for me. It self configures the network settings and only needs the proxy disabling.

"WE" ?
So much for "thanks for the feedback"
Instead of throwing a wobbly why not do as advised ? Read the forums, methodically. Every time you find something on your phone which 'won't work' you need to search the forums and read the threads. You will find the answer to all of the 'issues' with your phone.
Since pocket pcs and smartphones were invented it is a fact that the manufacturers are not as good as some of the chefs on xda developers at cooking up ROMs. Mobile suppliers have always under resourced the phones they issue, the branding has always been rubbish, the phones always locked. Licensing issues have always meant that what one mobile phone provider giveth the other taketh away.
One thing remains constant: there has (nearly) always been a workaround and the workaround was usually devised on xdadev !

Agreed -it worked for me.
Two things.
1) The stock t-mobile UK ROMS are on this forum. Search for posts by a user called Football and you'll find what you need as a backup.
2) Disabling the Proxy didn't work for me on it's own. I had to find the setting to update the connections database first. Once that lastest connection database downloaded, I could then disable the proxy and viola, Peep started to work.

Add to that not all t-mobile UK ROMS have the proxy issue.
Hi,
I´m a HTC Touch HD User, but now I want to move to Android (HTC Desire).
I live in Germany and my provider is Vodafone and the sold me a wap Flatrate. My English is not perfect but I hope you can help me anyway.
To use my Blackstone with Internet I have to do some settings. In my HTC Touch HD I have to set my connections like this:
Settings--Connections--Connections--Advanced--Select Networks--New
First I have to add a new modem:
Access point name: wap.vodafone.de
Then I have to use "IP header compression"
Secondary I have to set my Proxy Setting like this:
Type: HTTP, WAP, Secure WAP and Socks to 139.7.29.1:80
Additional to this, I have to use Proxycap from proxycap.com
For the perfect working I have to set proxycap like this:
Proxies--Add new proxy...:
Type: HTTPS
Host: 139.7.29.1
Port: 80
Rules--Add new rule...:
Name: xyz (for example)
Type: Tunnel through proxy
Proxy: 139.7.29.1:80
Transports: TCP
Only with this settings I can use nearly all things on my HTC Touch HD (except the twitter-tab but it doesn´t matter).
Now my question. Is there an alternative program to Proxycap on Android? Or can I set Android to use a HTTPS tunnel?
I now my English is bad but I hope you understand my question and you can help me.
Best regards
dergago

Sorry, perhaps my English is too bad but didn´t understand what you mean.
Do I have to root my device to use this "trick"?
EDIT: OK, I found Cyanogenmod.com Can I use this MOD for the HTC Tattoo/Click? It´s the device of my girlfriend. And is it possible that this will not work wit the Desire (my next device)?
I don´t know if these questions are stupid but I´m new on Android. WinMobile isn´t much easier for me.

The APN settings don't look like they have the key to this. Am I to create a new XML tag for each app that needs to go through the proxy?

Can you show me a good link, that show me how I can create XMLs for the TATTOO & DESIRE?
what can be done is using a proxy and iptables to direct traffic. I have been trying to get this working but I am not able to get apps for linux compiled for arm. I have tried to compile u2nl for android which with iptables will route traffic through a proxy all traffic. If anyone has information on how to make this run on android would love to hear.

Just search the market for a program called APN Backup & Restore. MAKE SURE you backup your APN's (twice!) so that when you mess with it, and your phone loses all cell phone signal, you can DELETE then RESTORE APNs! (don't just restore, without deleting, because it adds them all together).

Ok, thank you.
So is it right, there is no App with nearly the same function as Proxycap for Android?
I have another question:
Can I use my Router to tunnel exerything through 139.7.29.1:80, when I´m using a vpn-connection?
And how can I set a VPN tunnel to my router?
I hope you understand my English!
No ideas? I will get my Desire in 3 days and no idea, how I can use it with my Wap Fatrate.
I compiled u2nl for arm/android. In the USA people are using Verizon's Motorola Droid on carriers that require you to use an http proxy. Obviously the phone isn't meant to work that way but it is working good for people with u2nl. The main drawback is that they need to use iptables which isn't available unless your phone is rooted or if you are using a custom rom.
I can't post a link because my account here is new. I can give you the link if you PM me.

Any TUTs?
Tried lots of stuff with to get proxy browsing on my 2.1 x8 with no luck (Firefox, asproxy and opera about:config proxy settings).
I'm thinking of flashing my x8 to another rom, but I don't like the idea of battery drainage or random reboots.
I really don't care about apps/games I get with 2.2/2.3, I just want proxy support. Is there's such a thing as a 2.1 rom modified with ipfilter support?
Also, is NTLM authorization is still broken on 2.2 and 2.3 roms?
Bump. Does the MiniCM ROM even support proxies?
I really want a solution to this issue. My x8 can work as a paper holder at most without proxy support.
Try miniCm. It's got almost all the problems solved, Unwanted reboots are VERY rare and it's Much faster than Stock rom. I think it does support proxy.. Ask on MiniCM thread, and you'll get your answer for sure ^_^
I can not ask on MiniCM thread I need at least 10 post D:
Does MiniCM has iptables/netfilter support?
And is NTLM authorization still broken?

your best bet would to be back-up the firmware you using now in x-recovery. trying out the Minicm rom. If you don't like the Minicm then you can switch back. That way all the questions you have can be answered for sure by yourself
