Alright, I've been trying everything I've found on this site (and Google) for hours now and I can't fix my phone...here's what happened:
I rooted my phone a couple of months ago for the sole purposes of removing T-Mobile's pre-installed bloatware. I used the One-Click Root program (for Mac) and I never really took advantage of the root privileges otherwise.
I unrooted my phone a few days ago because I figured I didn't really need it anymore and because I attributed a few bugs with the rooting (since they didn't happen before I rooted my phone, but I could be wrong). I looked up how to unroot my phone and somebody said to simply remove a few files/folders. I did that and lo and behold! I was unrooted.
A few hours ago I received a notification saying that an update was available for my phone. I've been more than excited for this update because my GPS is pretty much useless and since I was unrooted, I figured there was no harm in updating.
I can no longer get past the "Vibrant" boot screen. I've tried every method I've found in the forums...I tried pushing "disable-lagfix" to my phone, but ADB keeps saying "0 files pushed, 0 files skipped" or something like that. I've tried using ODIN, but I keep getting "<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)". I've tried re-rooting my phone because I thought I couldn't push files to my phone since I unrooted, but when I use One-Click Root, it tells me to click "Apply update.zip" but there is no such option in my recovery mode. I would install ClockWork Recovery to remedy that issue, but it's not possible since my phone won't boot completely.
I honestly don't know how to fix my phone...please help me
Thanks,
Gerard
There's no Apply Update.zip option in the recovery mode, but there's "Reinstall Packages" option which does just that
(I just updated my phone via Mini Kies and rooted it using the OCLF).
Tried that already...no luck.
BTW, I just realized that this should probably be in the Q&A section...sorry x_x
EDIT: Also, I'm installing Mini Kies right now...I hope this works.
Easiest way would boot in to download mode and flash a new rom with Odin, but if you have ADB you should be able to do it in recovery there too. Note, make a backup of your stuff first if I care about losing anything.

Can you get into download mode? If so, have you tried to use Odin 1.3? The easiest solution might be to reinstall JFD (Stock ROM) and then upgrade to JI6 thru Mini Kies. That worked for me. I followed this method.
edit: You can also get all the files from the Vibrant Bible.

I really don't wanna come off as a douche because I know you guys are trying to help, but this is gonna be my third time saying that Odin simply won't work for me...I've gone into download mode and followed the instructions in that very post and all I get is "<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0)". I tried this both on my Mac (using Darwine) and my friend's PC, same result both times
Well if you can get in to ADB push http://bchalk.com/clockworkmod.update.zip to /sdcard and rename it to update.zip
This will allow you to click reinstall packages and get in to clockworkmod.
ADB push one of the stock roms or bionix 1.8 or something to your /sdcard and then flash it in clockworkmod. This will delete your /data. (ie all of your apps and their settings)
PM me if you want to get on gtalk or aim or something.

I know it can be frustrating. I just didn't see if you used the different versions of Odin. Just remember most of us are here to help you get thru your problems....well, phone problems at least. Hit up bchalk...sounds like s/he could be a big help.
If you can get to download mode and seeing the big yewllow "men at work" icon, you should able to flash back via ODIN. You need to install the drivers.

I can most assuredly tell you that from my similar experience Odin does work. 2 key lessons I learned:
1.) To get into download mode, remove battery, plug phone into USB While holding down UP and Down and Power buttons. While buttons are still pressed, reinsert battery.
2.) Try different versions of Odin. I had to try mulitple attempts with both 1.0 and 1.3 versions of Odin before I got it to run entirely.
All the answers are in the threads.

Where can I find different versions of Odin? I'm searching all over the place, but xda's search sucks (no offense, guys) and Google's not helping me out too much...
A few things:
1) I don't think Odin works on Mac.
2) If you've found a Windows machine to do it, make sure you download the Samsung drivers.

I was hoping that I bookmarked the thread where I found the link to the 1.3 download but unfortunately, no luck. However, if you simply google "odin 1.3" there are many results.
Also for reference, this is the thread I used for simple direction in restoring my phone via odin.

Odin3 v1.30 in the bible thread is far more fail resistant than v1.00 that everyone still seems to be using. Just a tip...Best of luck

When you plug your phone into Odin, does it show a com port list in one of the ID:Com boxes? If not, that means that you need to work on the drivers for your PC.

If you are here the odds are you are looking to take your Verzion Galaxy Tab back to the default setup for one reason or another.
Here are the steps you will need to take.
First let's make sure you have all the files and things are set up for this.
Hemdall
Download Heimdall from HERE, this is the program you are going to use to flash the needed files to your Galaxy Tab. I am putting the version I use on my sever just in case.
But here is a link to the developers page so you can download the original if you want.
http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/
You will also need *Microsoft C++ This also needs installed on your machine because it has .dll files Heimdall uses. (I use Windows 7 and did not need to install this [I think])
Now you will need to install the drivers the is also needed for Heimdall. unzip heimdall and go into the drivers folder where you will see zadig.exe. Run this.
At the top you see options. Click "list all devices"
Then in the dropdown select Android USB composite device (or whatever it says). (NOT*mass*storage)
Click start and let heimdall download/install the drivers.
Files You Are Going To Flash To Your Tab
HERE is where you *are going to download the files needed to flash to you tab.* There are four files in total.
DOWNLOAD
cache.rfs
param.lfs
system.rfs
zImage
Ok, Let's get to flashing over the files and getting your tab back to normal.
1: Connect your tab to your PC
2: Launch your tab into download as it is already connected to your PC.*(Do this by holding the volume down and pushing the power button)
3: Go in to the folder " heimdall" and start " heimdall-frontend.exe"
4: Set up the files you are about to flash to the tab in side of heimdall.* It should look something like this.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART!!!!!! DO NOT SCREW THIS UP - -* I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE!!
DO NOT EVER EVER EVER PUT ANYTHING IN ANY OTHER LOCATION. THESE ARE THE ONLY FILES YOU NEED.
zImage goes in both the Kernel AND Recovery slot.
system.rfs goes in Factoryfs
Param.lfs goes in Param.lfs
cache goes in the cache slot.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
5: After you have the files in place click start to flash. ALWAYS make sure your battery is sufficiently charged or you will have MAJOR problems. (I had to push start a few times.)
After this runs you will more than likely boot loop. Power down, wait a few seconds and hold power and up volume to boot into recovery.*(NOTE, do not hold power too long, just long enough to turn it on, then continue holding up volume till you see recovery. WIPE DATA AND CACHE. Tab should boot.
Note, if heimdall fails at the very beginning, just try unplugging and turning off the tab, close, and relaunch heimdall. it will eventually start. sometimes you just need the right combo of plugging in launching the*program.
After this is should be just like you took it out of the box, other than still having root access.
Hope this helps!
Aslo, I did not do any of the work here other than test it out and retype what is on this site to make it available to those on XDA and if you read my blog.

But I would like someone to look it over and make sure I did not miss something. We are all human after all.

I cannot find ANY tuts like this for flashing roms, recovery, ect. You, my newfound friend, are the first. We need more exactly like this.

This is great stuff. I messed up a bunch of junk on my VZ galaxy tab and would like to go back to stock. Question about this guide: I've converted to ext4. Can I still follow the steps in this tutorial to return to stock or is there anything else that I need to do first? Thanks very much!

Took the plunge anyway. Seems to have worked. Great tutorial!
Had previously used Koush's bootstrapper from the market to convert the file systems to ext4. Later tried to install KhasMek Voodoo Plus v3 kernel on my VZW tab and it nuked it (prob cause I did something wrong). Using these instructions, I got back to stock. Now to boot strap again and try, try again!
Thanks for the guide

No, I tried a few times and did not have any luck. The only thing I am looking to customize with the Tab is really to have it over clocked a little.
I just got the Evo so after I am done setting that up and getting everything worked out I am going to try again.
But if I remember right when ever I run Koush's boot strapper the tab reboots and goes in to recover mode and starts to flash something. (I think, cant seem to remember 100% right now) . Then I get stuck on the Samsung screen..
At that point I am not able to boot back in to recovery mode to wipe anything, but I can boot in to download mode and restore the Tab.
I think I have to be missing something simple?
Got the bootstrapper from the market to work again on my VZW Galaxy Tab. Formatted the SD card and then tried it again...it worked great after that!

VZW Custom Kernel
So out of curiosity, is the Bootstrapper the only way to get a custom recovery set up for the Verizon tab? I used z4root and got the root access, but since then, I haven't had an opportunity to flash roms or kernels because of the lack of a custom recovery. Anybody think they could help ?
Hi Everyone
my Galaxy S will not boot past the "Galaxy S" screen on startup. I have read several posts with the same problem and I have tried all suggestions that I have come across. Here is what I have tried so far:
Removed battery and sim card for several hours - no change
Went into recovery mode (volume up + power + home button). Received a "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblkOp1 (No such file or directory)" and "E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount SDCARD: copy default media content failed." error messages.
In recovery mode, performed a "wipe data/factory reset" to restore the phone back to default - still no change
Do i need to send my phone back to Samsung or take it to a phone shop? or can it be sorted at home?
Brian
Did this just randomly start to occur? did you drop the phone? or did you try to flash another rom & thus got stuck on boot?
If not, have you tried going in to download mode? (volume down + power + home button)
Go into download mode and flash a new ROM including bootloader. You should also tick 'Re-Partition' in Odin and use a PIT-file.

Well if you can get into the dl menu your phone is just fine.
Did you read jcspecs posted link?
When you go into download mode it means your phone is ready to flash new software, roms etc, it requires the use of a simple program called Odin (3.1 being the usual preferred choice), from there you install selected roms into it's interface, you then plug in your phone (in download mode) & you let it do it's thing, all being well you'll reboot & your Galaxy S will be born again, only bigger, better, stronger & faster
Let me encourage you into a simple set up to get your phone up & running before you do anything else, once done you can then spend more time reading a lot of stuff just like most of the rest of us has had to do, once you read you'll will be in a better position to decide whether to stick with what works or whether to change, the key is finding what you can & can't do, what works for you etc, trust me you'll get the hang of it & it's well worth it!
I'm assuming your phone is Galaxy S I9000? READ CLICK--> THIS <--CLICK GUIDE THOROUGHLY!
Also take a look at THIS for I9000 models
The idea is to flash your phone back to stock firmware using the correct tools & to then flash over it with seriously better software to show you just what it can & should look & behave like, it'll also hopefully stop you from ever connecting to Kies again.... READ, READ, READ
Also watch the youtube videos by Totallydubbed provided in the links, they will seriously help you out.
simply, Brian, I want to introduce this method for you.
Make yourself understood what is ODIN flash. Please try to search this forum or do a google search. I suggest you use the offical 2.3.4 JVP rom.
ODIN to flash the room.
1st of all, make sure your phone model definitely I9000, no T959 or others.
2nd, don't connect the KIES, and in the settings-->application-->(click this) USB debugging.
3. Download the relevant files for flashing rom. Sorry, I have no link 4 U yet, but I hope it can help.

At first you have to flash a Gingerbread-firmware from Samsung (NO custom-ROM) containing Gingerbread-bootloader with Odin (flash with PIT-file and Re-Partition ticked) and then anither kernel that brings CWM to you and finally flash the custom-ROM with CWM.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Brian,
It's easy to get confused with too much reading but the answer to your problem is already provided for you in the links however we'll try this.....
Flash Ficeto's Odin JVH base rom here it will root your phone & ready to go to Darky's
As provided
1. use Odin 3.1.3 to be 100% safe, make sure phone is not connected! then press pit file & track to the pit 512 & make sure repartition is ticked!
2. press PDA & track to the TAR file in the Ficeto folder, (do not unzip it!), assuming you've done this correctly you can put the phone into download mode
3. Once in download mode connect phone & wait 10-15 seconds before pressing start.
4. Assuming all of the above steps have went well the phone will be up & running & you can begin to set it up, accounts, wifi, settings etc, once you've done that check back here & let us know & we can then get you to the next step.
Please also say how strong/good your wifi, 3G, call & internet signals are too as you may need to flash through a few different modems to get back to the same quality you had before, then again you may not, however this is a minor step after so just get flashing the roms first.
If for any reason you cannot find Ficeto's PDA/TAR file in the folder it means you've downloaded the CWM version = (clockworkmod) instead, CWM is how you flash roms from an already up & running phone via the power button, so if this is the case just make sure you download the THIS ODIN VERSION from the link provided.
Yesterday afternoon there was a notice on my phone for an OTA update. When I tried to install the phone said "no upgrade available".
Later in the evening I connected my phone to Kies, I was again offered the upgrade, but it would not install because my battery was too low.
Having had the phone on charge overnight I tried again this morning, and the upgrade was successful.
The details are,
PDA LH3
Phone LH1
CSC LH2
As I've only just finished the update, I can't tell what the changes are, but if I find any important differences I will update this thread.
Please Note: As far as I know, this update is for 3UK only.
Was already reported multiple times ... it's just an ICS update. Update is also showing up for other countries/providers.
I got this update this morning , I believe it was about 57Mb. The few changes I noticed were brightness slider in the pull down notification bar and I think a bit better battery life than I normally get. A few minor tweaks I noticed were when adding something to a home screen, before the update it used to say Add from Apps, whereas now it says add from Apps and Widgets. I think I also noticed that in the battery graph, before I could refresh by tapping the left hand menu button, but now the refresh is in the top right corner. In the power menu there are 3 buttons at the bottom too. Im guessing a lot of other carriers will have this or similar update too. I lost Root in the process of updating but that didn't matter much, just a 2 minute job to re-root so it was okay.
Hopefully Official Jelly Bean will build on this good start and be even better for our great phone ;D
I go for unlocked phones whenever I can, so I get stock updated asap, rather than waiting for bloatware, it's the only reason.
I think only my first phone was a network locked phone, and it was a dumbphone so I didn't mind, not to mention young, about 11 or 12 at the time.
Now unlocked phones are important to me so I can get stock updates faster, unless I flash custom, then it won't matter

1st, your on the latest firmware that's why kies won't update further?
2nd Close kies first or Odin won't see your phone.
3rd Get cf root and flash with Odin.

Tried with only kies installed.
Tried with only odin installed.
Tried with either set of drivers individually installed.
I believe that the Rom is latest from 3uk, but I want to get rid of all that crap and use latest unbranded Rom.
Still does not tell me how to root with this ****ty Rom.
Quick response, thanks, but not helping get round the 3uk crap.

If kies can see your phone the connection/drivers is/are fine. Just close (not uninstall) kies, open Odin and it should see your phone.
Try enabling usb debug under developer options on your phone.
If you want rid of 3's crap you need to flash a stock (unbranded) rom. Kies will only find an update for whatever your running. If you have a 3 rom, you'll only get 3 updates.
You could always flash a rom with root already built in, just search for one you like the look of.

Odin still not showing my phone.
Can I use adb like on HTC? And if so what would be the command line to flash, say, cwm or a stock Rom?
Also just realised that Odin won't help if I can't click start button anyway, darned stupid software is mostly offscreen at my max resolution.(1024*768)
Thanks again folks.
Are you in download mode ?

Or is there equivalent of RUU.exe ?

Tried to run kies/Odin in both android and download mode.
No dice. Think it must be something to do with 3uk roms.

Just wondering if everyone else on 3 is just happy with their phones and hasn't tried flashing or rooting their phones?

You can use adb but if your pc can't see the phone its not going to help.
I doubt very much that having a 3 phone is the problem. You need to look again at your drivers. When you plug your phone in does windows start installing a driver? Does it suceed or give an error?
What about if you enable usb debugging?
Either find the separate Samsung drivers and install them, OR run kies, choose troubleshoot connection, try plugging phone in again. Once kies can see your phone close kies *** you must close kies ***, run odin. Pull cable and plug in again. Odin should light up if it sees your phone.
Kies is a pile of crap, odin isn't. I don't understand what you mean about max resolution and not clicking start button, you mean of odins start button or Windows???
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Kies can see phone. USB debugging is enabled. Windows has Samsung drivers installed and working.
It's Odins start button I can't see (off bottom of screen)
So adb should work fine if I can have command line for it.
Once I've got cwm touch flashed I can stick a stock Samsung Rom on and root it.
If I can do that with adb will be awesome.
Thanks for all help so far, and in future.

Try downloading another copy of Odin. I had a version that would not detect my phone for some reason, tried another download source and everything fine. It was nowt to do with drivers in my case

Try Odin v1.85, you can then see the start button on 1024x768.

Thanks guys. Will try ans find a source for that version of Odin.
Definitely going to try to find the commands for adb still as I am much happier with command line stuff, as I am an old school coder at heart.
If I can get the adb commands I might even knock together a win7 front-end for it.
Update 10/30/2014
There's no need to go back to the "B3" version any longer. The T900UEUANI1 is available on SamMobile, to be flashed w. Odin.
The cf-auto-root listed as "B3" on chainfire's site will work.
Note, I have not created any of this, please thank the original developers in their posts. This is simply a compilation of available info needed to have the most complete and working SM-T900, Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2.
The sole purpose is to make you save time. However, I'm not saying this will work, and it might even brick your device, but that risk is yours to take. However, it worked for me, so why shouldn't it... Trust the steps, there's a reason for this madness. Believe me when I say it; I've learned the hard way, and it has not been a pleasant journey.
If your SD cards looses necessary rw privileges it seems like not even a backup will correct them, even after wiping the SD cards and formatting data.
If you haven't yet upgraded from B3 to D4, I recommend you to do this first! There are major improvements between the two versions.
1. Rooting:
First flash the P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg (forgetting this will create a softbrick, and you will have to start over, also use the Odin 3.07, supplied, I have not tested with the later 3.09)
then flash CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900
for detailed method and files see: http://androidcentral.us/2014/05/root-galaxy-tab-pro-12-2-sm-t900/
I forgot, it's important to use original cables directly connected to the PC, a docking station connection, or an EOM cable might be a reason for flash failure.
2. install TWRP:
Flash openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.0-v1awifi
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2679825
3. disable Knox:
Open SuperSU and answer yes to disabling KNOX
4. fix SD-card issue in KitKat 4.4:
Download and run JRummy's "SD KitKat Fixer" from market. I had no luck with any other comfortable fixing apps.
5. important!:
reboot into recovery and wipe both External and Internal SD, as well as Formatting Data. Don't forget to backup all files you want to keep onto your PC! for later re-installation. I know this must feel hard, but I sincerely advice you you follow this step. Most apps are not KitKat ready, as of now, and won't allow you to download or access the data if you haven't prepared your SD's in advance.
6. init d support:
Download and install Stericson's BusyBox from market
Download and install Uni-init v1.0
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933849
7. Flash Player support:
Download and install fixed AdobeFlashPlayer 11.1
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/guide-how-to-play-flash-video-android-4-t2548001
If you're using Dolphin Browser, also install the Dolphin JetPack, and modify Settings/Web Content/Flash Player/ to Always On.
8. ADBlocking:
Dowload and flash LATEST_MoaAB_ADBlocking_Super
link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1916098
9. De-bloating:
for de-bloating at a maximum you can disable numerous of the Samsung apps, by pushing the three dots, upper right corner, while in the apps-screen mode.
Also, don't forget to un-check the de-bloated apps from auto-update in Play Store, as well as in the Samsung update if you signed up for this service.
10. (Re)-nstall your apps
You're done, and it's time to restore or download all the apps you need and it will work in KitKat 4.4
None of the modified stock ROM's currently available seem to mount correctly. If something goes wrong, you will most likely loose your SD card privileges. The original T900UEUAND4 stock ROM can be found here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=29102. Just unzip and flash with Odin, then start again with step 1.
Also, due to lack of time, I will not be able to monitor this post. I hope you will help one another out with clarifications, or anything I might have missed.
Best of luck,
Delete
Very nicely laid out. I've already done all this, but it's great to see a guide for new comers that may not know what to do. Thank you.
Thank you for the guide and gathering everything together. I just wanted to throw this out there, I followed the directions exactly....and I could not get mine to root. It would continually soft brick and a screen full of odd colors would come up every time. I read on the CF Auto Root thread that others had the same issue. One determined individual said he did it 10 times and it finally worked. Soooo....I continued to do it. And it finally worked, trying nothing different each time.
I tried 2 different computers, a win7 and win8, installed Kies to make sure drivers were there. Used official and another cable. I tried everything I could think of. In the end I would say as long as you're following the directions just keep trying.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2591013&d=1392923580
That's a link to the P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg that my friend and I both used before getting root. Thanks again for the guide arcadia2uk!
So I was able to root and install TWRP but after an app caused some issues I went to wipe cache and brick. Flashed stock and had to do factory reset. However, I learned that attempting to restore a backup or wipe cache or do factory reset via twrp causes brick. Have to use Odin to flash back to factory. I also had to use the German region and lost my symbols on keyboard.
................edit..............
I updated kies and reinstalled all the drivers and flashed the cellular south firmware...All is well and current. Rooted, twrp, having fun.

Downgrade P900XXUANB3-RecoveryImg with Odin.
Then flash CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.

But no success.
Then I installed latest Kies3 (started only the usb driver in tools menu) then restart Win7 and after then all right.
Odin flashed CF root.
Best wishes I hope this helps!

I don't know if it will help anyone else, but I just flashed TWRP 2.8 on my Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 wifi with "D4" firmware using odin and it worked and I was able to make successfully a backup. Below is a link to the recovery I flashed. Of course your mileage may vary so do it at your own risk.

The easiest way to debloat it is probably via titanium backup's batch mode actually.
Oh boy I just mess up my Tab.... It's stock in the firmware error screen. Will try to flash stock firmware as soon as I get WiFi, reflashing stock via Odin should fix it as I read right?
Fingers crossed: say yes please!
Edit: it boots with stock fw now is back to normal except that can't access or boot into recovery mode. Any help or a working recovery file? Thanks in advance

try flashing the latest TWRP 2.8.1.1 with Odin. You can also download Quick Boot (Reboot) from Play Store, that will facilitate the booting process.

Yey! U R the man! Thanks so much it works flawlessly!
I think I have 2 different recovery files and they both doesn't work I don't know why I got them from twrp site... Anyways just to let you know I've done every thing with Odin 3.09 so yeah I'm confirming that it works fine.

So yeah. As the title says I had a rooted VS980 on 4.4.2 with some bloat removed and I accidently hit the wrong button when prompted for the upgrade, I was in a hurry. yes, I'm a moron, and yes, I know this is probably wasting someone's valuable time and I thoroughly apologize for my n00bishness
having said that, I have tried to go through various tuts but none of them seem to be working. yes, it's likely that I am simply doing it wrong, but whatever the case I am stuck with my phone in a bootloop always returning to the TWRP recovery. I believe that means it is soft bricked so I'm hoping this can be fixed fairly easily with the right direction and some patience for my ignorance. I can't seem to get it into download mode with turning it off, holding the volume+ button and plugging it in, it just goes to twrp. :'(
my hope is to get a rooted lollipop. if that is not possible then I would be fine with going back to stock or possibly even a custom rom if it's not too awfully complicated. honestly, I'm at a point where I'm beginning to accept that I probably shouldn't be screwing around with it too much and will likely bite the bullet and just keep my phone stock since there are really only a few minor irritants that make me want to root it.
any help is very much appreciated.

actually, it doesn't look to be the same problem. i dont have download mode, but i do have recovery. it boots to twrp like a champ. what i think i really need is how to get the flash file VS98011A_01.zip on my phone via ADB Sideload, specifically when i cant get the drivers to work.
i've tried the following drivers:
LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.14.1.exe
LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.20.0.exe
LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN310AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.10.1_3.10.1.0
I may very well be mistaken about what needs to happen, i'm no expert, obviously, but from everything ive read any of those should have worked. i think if i can get the right flash on the phone i should be able to flash it via twrp no?
I"ll help

i just happened to have a brand new data cable, tried again with same result so its not media related unless there is an issue with the plug itself, but it's charging and the Device manager shows the correct name ie VS980, it just has a yellow bang on it and i cant find a driver that changes that.
read some more and found others with the same issue apparently which led me to here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408
which is where i found the "download mode restore" file you mentioned(i didnt see it in the thread you provided), but without the ability to get adb usb command to work i dont see how i can use it.
any ideas?

rebooted, went straight to twrp again.

sweet, i'm glad someone else found it useful.
Yep, now another problem though. ..no mobile data. .. working on it.
I'd suggest flashing the files in post 12 (I didn't and am having TONS of problems)
So I really didn't get a fix- still working on it.
I have no download mode, and not way to get the serial port to display in device manager, so the LG Mobile support tool won't see my phone....
