Software updating...

Dear power users, I would like to ask how do you update pre-loaded softwares such as Opera or else? for example, if months later, Opera 9.6 is released, if I install it in my HD, would the link in TFL3D automatically point to the new Opera? or what else should I do?

There are no automatic updates as such for TF3D, Opera etc. However HTC usually release new ROM versions to address performance issues, at the same time they update the applications. Forum members have updated Opera to later builds by over writting the existing files stored on the device (most of which can be found under the \windows\ directory). There are a few threads on this forum and the Touch Pro forum with details on how to do this successfully. The key is to ensure all Opera processes are stopped before trying to update, otherwise a "file in use" error can occur.

It won't auto update.
The only way I know to update integrated apps is by loading a new firmware.
For this you either have to wait for HTC to update the firmware.
But on here, customized and optimized firmwares are more likely to be updated ASAP whenever an update for an app is done like Opera.
So, best is to wait and see for cooked ROMs/Firmwares and hope theres some beauty's in there.

I allways get one error when starting to download.
Can anyone post here the file.

I wish there was a cab available for this. Don't have active Sync on work computer

You don't need Activesync... just copy the file to you htc and then execute it on the htc directly

Software versions?
Once downloaded and flashed, could someone tell us what software versions are installed please? Manila, and OS etc...
Many people like myself are on Custom ROMs running the lastest of EVERYTHING, so I am wondering what this upgrade is going to offer. Also, the ROM versioning has jumped from 1.xx to 3.xx. There must be something good in there, which will be made available on the custom front.

so u downloaded from multiupload links from xda or from official htc website? and u have what version of hspl on your phone ? u flashed from your computer , not sd card rite ( cause in other way, you would have your phone bricked..)

It's IDENTICAL, Size on Disk 194 MB (204,345,344 bytes)

Would a cab do it? Seems like a firmware update would be required to enable ICS as well, no?

yes, updated my hd2 successfully to the 7740 build with this cab. ics is not working though a popup appears when i toggle it to on which says "connection not shared, there is a problem with the currant settings"

So how did you make the new setting appear? Can't find anything new in 'Settings'.

there's a cab "on device provxml with ics" around here, please do a search. install it and you'll be able to unhide the ics in toggle the settings page.

@AndrewSH , I though you are one of DFT site VIP member and knew DFT very well but seems not at all , Cotulla was one of DarkForce also admin of DFT offical site , zjw831 was doing his job protected DF's work , is something wrong of this ? you tell me why we still not release DFT-code ? why only release to few developers ? I think you knew answer, am I right ?
If anything need Cotulla write any message to here than we no need a team to work toeghter, each team member had their own job to do , meantime Cotulla dont had that much time to look your guy's ****.
