Is your internet working? Every time I try to open up a webpage, I'm getting the web2go message telling me to upgrade my data plan. My APN was originally epc.tmobile, and I tried internet2.voicestream.com but that isn't working either. Thanks in advance.
same here this happened after i upgrade radio to the 2.15.50.x.x
I'm using Touch pro 2 and I am seeing the same issue. I got the message first time yesterday. After restarting the phone, internet worked again. But this morning, I'm not able to get on the internet at all. I even tried a hard reset but not working. I don't know if they are making changes on their side due to windows 7 phones.
5.99 failing, but $10 web is wokring...i guess....
Same here.....
this happened two days ago, but then restarted then worked fine, now its happening again this morning.
however, when i tried a SIM using the $10 total internet for mobile phones, it worked with the "internet2.voicestream.com"
i guess our days of cheap $5.99 is over??? (But i guess we still got the $10 internet option)

I know we have too many threads about Tzone,web2go on HD2 but MOD please be kind on me this one time.
Hi Folks!! as of 10/11/10 12:00AM Pacific Time , Los Angeles CA
My grandfathered Tzone plan $5.99 quit working on me! I've been getting Upgrade page since then! I tried rebooting my phone, put it on airplane mode on/off and changing apn settings to wap/epc/internet2/internet3 all efforts with No Luck! as of now I'm very frustrated with no Data on my Tmobile HD2, It is like having a big paperweight that can make phone calls. I'm thinking of getting the web2go $9.99 plan w/ internet2 apn but I need some confirmation from you guys out there. just wanna make sure that it is not blocked as well from the recent sweep. If I have enough of you telling me it is not working, then my final option would be to sign up for the $20 Unlimited Loyal cust data plan.
Thanks and really appreciated your feedbacks.

Confirmed, my wife's TP2 wiith teh 5$ plan is no longer working either, it is telling her to upgrade.
DAMN!!
Also not working here... hugely bad timing, too. I want my unlimited internet back for $5.99!!!
Yea same here i would fix it buy turning of the phone but as of 10/11/10 it stop working .. T-mobile sucks now
I had been off contract for over 4 years, then a month ago got back on to get the HD2 for free, running Android and T-zones... so sad. Such a sad sad day for T-zone users. :'(
same here - as of this morning, internet is a no go, and all combinations of different apn and dns setting are not working..... goddamn tmobile, what a bunch of idiots. it cost them nothing to keep us grandfathered customers in, and they got to keep our business for a loooong time. over 5 years i've been with them, most of that time off contract. do they really think i'm going to stick around now or pay 30 bucks a month just for internet ??? at best,i just use wi-fi and they lose my 5.99 a month for t-zones, and at worst i leave them altogether !!
way to go tmobile, way to go.

Big shots at T-Mo, if you are reading this..
On average, a Telecom company (fixed line or wireless) spends about $200-$250 to acquire a new customer. By getting $24 more out of loyal customers every month and have them leave after their contract expires is not good business strategy. If I take my family plan else where, that is about $140/month. Would you rather have that $140 or $24?
ABSOLUTE TRUTH - i'm doing the family plan too, 4 lines worth. with the extras,it's a nice chunk of change. and for ONE data plan on ONE of those lines tmobile is very probably going to lose the whole account.
i read in the howard forums that this is all due to the new ceo of the company being upset about this loophole with tzones/web2go going on for so long...
well guess what DUMMY. IT WAS FOR A VERY GOOD REASON.
I have been having the same problem as all of you regarding t-zones on my HD2. I have been following this thread as well as a thread on another (Nexus One oriented) forum and one poster on the other thread mentioned trying wap.voicestream.com for the apn and it worked for them. I tried it just now and it worked for me as well! Another commenter did say it did not work for them so YMMV. It's definitly worth a shot though.
Update: More and more people on that other forum is saying wap.voicestream.com is working for them now. I would post the link except I am too junior of a member to post outside links.
So far mine is still working. I'm still using the stock 2.13 Rom and haven't made any changes to any settings. I really only use a couple of hundred Mb a month, so $5.99 is about all I'm willing to spend for Data service. If they require me to get a data plan, I'll probably just get rid of my smartphone and get a regular phone that can still use T-Zones.
wap.voicestream.com - Confirmed, it works!
I can confirm changing the APN from epc.tmobile.com to wap.voicestream.com is working for my HD2 and Touch Pro 2.
T-Mobile Web - Unlimited T-Zones - $5.99
I jumped the gun...it appears for the moment those of us with T-Mobile Web aka Unlimited T-Zones currently as of 7:15 pm ET 12 October have our connections back up. I re-entered APN "epc.tmobile.com" and I have my internet back up, so now, I cannot verify whether either APN is working.

People from that other forum is now reporting that epc.tmobile.com is working again.
I jumped ship just for the peace of mind. I lost my tzone on 10/12 after 3 years of data goodness well at least they slash my unlimited text down to $10 to help offset $20 data per month. I am satisfied paying addl $4 ($20-$10-$5.99) than consciously knowing why my data stop working again sometime in near future..
So is tzones still working?

Hi,
I'm still using a grandfathered plan that contains unlimited data for $5.99. If I were to use my sim card in the Nexus, would I be able to have 3G? I have acquired a new sim card last year if that helps.
Thanks
Seems to be working fine in an unlocked phone.
I had a friend who was using an unlocked AT&T Tilt on T-Mobile's network. He recently bought a MT3G and it wouldn't let him sign in to his google account. He called T-Mobile and they told him he needed the Android plan to activate it. So he added that and it started working. I would keep your plan and try it, but don't buy the phone and expect that you will be able to keep it.

Do you have the $5.99 data plan on the N1? I'm not worried that it will work, just wondering if I will get 3G and not just EDGE. I'm using my $5.99 plan on the iPhone but getting EDGE due to frequency but I was wondering if T-Mobile can cap or restrict me to EDGE speed only due to my plan.
I am currently waiting on my N1 to show up; but I do know my G1, when I switched to it from my wing, didn't get any internet whatsoever until I had them update my plan to the 'android unlimited web'. And when I switched my plan from the 350 min myfavs to the 500 even more plus, I had to get them to tack on the same thing but in it's free version before I got 'net again. My friend has the $5.99 internet on his unlocked iphone. If I see him this weekend before you get an answer, I'll have him put his sim card in my N1 and see what happens.
Those of us who had the Ion, which was a developer phone and had no T-mobile branding, kept the 5.99 plan for a little while but the party eventually ended when the MyTouch was released. I would guess the same will happen with the N1... it'll work for a while, but then they'll prompt you to upgrade.
My G1 worked for a while with the old unlimited plan, but suddenly one day it stopped working, and all sites redirected me to a page saying I needed to upgrade my data plan. Just FYI.
Is this the same as the 5.99 T-zones plan thing that I have had my Dash rigged up to for the longest time? I didnt think anyone still has this plan but I get my phone tomorrow and I still have this plan though I think I am going to just go straight to 3g since I am going back to Phoenix in a week and I think their new network has rolled out there.
Would be interesting to get cheap internet though...

Years ago, there was a 5.99 internet plan. Trust me, I have it... data has just gotten progressively more and more expensive over the years, it started at 5.99, then went to 10 then 20 now 25...
Luckily, I have been using the dash all this time, not the 3g dash, the oldschool one.... and ive had fully functional internet with it since my 5.99 internet plan has been grandfathered over the years...
this will be interesting to try out on my N1 that comes tomorrow...

Well actually way back then t-mobile had T-zone for only $2.99 and then they bumped it up to $5.99, and so on.
But after reading this thread. It appears to me that T-Mobile only finds out and block you from the $5.99 internet plan if your using a Google Phone. Because I have the TP2 from T-mobile, and my 3G internet is working fine. I have the $5.99 internet plan as well. This is very interesting.. Helps me decide between the HD2 and the Nexus 1... I think I will have to go with the HD2 for the cheap internet.

Is this with the sim card that came with your tab? I'm really curious. Try calling tmobile and see if they give you another apn setting. Many people are facing the same problem.

I have the even more plus plan on tmobile. Asked the sales rep if I could just keep my plan and usw my current sim, she said I could. Purchased it full price with the intention of using it as a phone (ty everyone here), but after inserting my sim, it showing 3g, all it will go to is thw tmobile site. Wifi works fine for everything after a google signin, just not 2g/3g. Guess I'm taking a drive back there today.
I had the same thing happen. I bought it, walked out of the store with it working, but 2 hours later, it just redirects everything (but google) to my.tmobile.com.
I spent hours on the phone, took it back to the store the following day and let then work on it. They eventually opened a ticket with the PDA group. I let that stay open for 24 more hours, then I just returned it. It never did work.
I bought a verizon tab and it's working great.
Incidentally, my buddy bought a tmo tab the day after me, and is experiencing the same issue... he is more patient than me, though, and is just hoping they fix it soon.
We both paid full retail and are/were on the $39 no contract plan.

From what I understand tmobile wont allow you to do a non contract line without you credit being ran in the process. They consider it a web connect line and you have to get that data plan. The reps for tmobile aren't explaining it to people which is why I will be returning mine and probably get the Sprint or Verizon tab. I don't understand why a android data wont work but they have found out how to get voice to work with the tab. Its very unfortunate

So you're saying that there's no hope then. Later today I'm going to find out if it can work with the no-contract plus unlimited plan that I've been on with my g1 for 2 years. Again, I was told that it would work. If not, back it goes. That would really be a shame, but not the first time I've been lied to by t-mobile service reps.
Will this work like the Nexus One on a tmobile internet for $10 if I bought a unlocked version? Like if I can change the mms settings..
If you try the the cheaper data plans not meant for smartphones for an unlocked Nexus S, please write here to tell us how it goes and if it works or not.. Thanks!!
We'll find out on thursday.
My wife called T-mobile last week and they said they discontinued the "smartphone/non-smartphone" unlimited web distinction. They said basically, if you use less than 200 mb/month, you pay $10/mo, if you regularly go over 200mb, you pay $30

Im sure it will work... I don't see why not.
FWIW, I just checked on my nexus s, and the 5.99 tzones plan is working for internet access just like it did on the nexus one...so I think the $10 internet plan should work too.
Just make sure you buy the full price phone...or else they will require you to pick up a more expensive web plan.

Yeah, on phones that are tmobile branded, like the vibrant or the G2...you're going to have that problem.
I am shocked how fast it is blocked from web2go.
It worked yesterday with web2go on 3rd line, but I got upsell error today, so you're warned if you want to attempt to use NS with grandfathered $10 web2go (not 200MB one).
Does anybody else encounter same problem?

Basically a cheap dumbphone data plan, better than paying $30 per mo.
i have same problem!!
I am having the same problem, it was working fine the last few days though I did have to reset a couple of times, but yesterday it just stopped working. I even returned it and got another one to see if that one would work but it didn't. Did they block it for everybody? Anybody using it with no problems?
yup same problem. I had to change my data plan.
If they block T-zones / Web2Go then over a 2 year period that's an extra $240 or more (Minimum $10/mo more for data X 24 months)
$575 (Nexus S price + tax)
$240 ($10/mo extra for data over 24 months compared to Web2Go)
________________________________________________________
$815
-
$350 (Amount for selling Nexus One)
________________________________________________________
$475 Total cost of Nexus S (vs keeping Nexus One and Web2Go)
Love the Nexus S but I dunno if I can handle a near $500 dollar loss even if the SuperAMOLED screen is amazing =/
It's probably just a data outage or something though so I'll wait a week or so to see if it gets better.
blocked for me too.. somehow I think that if I use my N1, it will start working again.
is it really blocked?
did you guys try all the apns?
like internet2.voicestream.com
wap.voicestream.com
epc.tmobile.com
Wow this is so lame. Anyone find a solution yet or able to get web2go working again? I'm having the same problem and now have some regrets in buying this phone. I can't handle paying 30 for data.
tmobile knows what phone your using so it will only work for a matter of time. you can keep changing your apn but when you put your sim in they know. i called yesterday just to test them and they asked me how am i enjoying my nexus s. enjoy it while you can.
Over in the T-Mobile forums as well as I have been getting the upsell upgrade website if anyone knows another work around please post here.

I had this problem a while back. I just called up the retention department and had them switch me to the official "android" data plan but requested they keep my same price. Been with Tmo for close to 12 years so I guess they just decided to eat the cost.
Good thing is, that "official" data plan is now part of my profile and as long as I buy my phones off contract I should be okay unless they try more shenanigans in the future.

Yeah it happened before here and there but it's too wide spread now to think it's just a fluke. It doesn't hurt however to give it a day or two and go from there.
Thanks for the info, Ill wait it out otherwise ill call the retention department and see what they will do. that is stupid. took them 3 years for them to begin blocking the nexus, while it took them 2 days to block the nexus s
Well the market for used N1 just took a hit if it's permanent.;D
It still doesn't work on my daughter's Nexus One... I've switched my Sensation over to Android Preferred for $20-$10 off but I'm not sure how they would take two more phones
wap.voicestream.com APN still working fine for me. I'm on $5.99 T-Zones plan.
Had been using the default epc.tmobile.com since I got my N1 in Jan 2010. Started getting upgrade message consistently a few months ago. Did you call 611 from your phone? I call but I guess it's not "retention" cause they told me there's no such thing as "android" plan. Want me to pay $25/mo.
Ask for the 200MB data plan for $10, verify that there will be no overage charges, Just edge speed after 200MB.
I switched 3 phones to the $10 plan with no problems. T-Mo customer service is excellent.
Make sure you configure market/google plus, google photos, amazon market, etc to only sync large volumes of data over wifi.

Are you getting access to all sites? Can you connect to Google server?
I'm using wap.voicestream.com but it's limited to what I can access.

Yup, all sites and Google servers working fine. My SIM is about 10 years old, and I've been with Tmo as long. Maybe the T-Zones plan is treated differently from Web2Go?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App

I called 877-524-9422. This is their retention / loyalty department. They have more leeway and can give pricing for plans not offered anymore.

It still doesn't work on my daughter's Nexus One... I've switched my Sensation over to Android Preferred for $20-$10 off but I'm not sure how they would take two more phones

So you're basically getting the 5GB android plan for $10/month? Did you have to upgrade your contract?

How would buying phones on contract affect the data plan being on your account? Or do grandfathered plans usually not carry over when you get new subsidized phones?
My Web2go plan that i have been using for almost 2 years have just stopped working . I switch the the wap.voicestream.com and i can only get into few website as someone noted above. Tried calling them and they wanted me to get one them new plans the 200mb and the unlimited 5gb cap. Idk maybe ill stick to this and wait if there is a way out. I guess days of unlimited usage of data for 10$ is gone. Btw people are calling tmobile and they say that its an easy fix and their fixes are the upsell to another plan which means you will lose your grandfathered plan just a heads up. Can anyone confirm if web2go still works with galaxy nexus uk version?
I thought it was just me. I decided to unsubscribe to the tzones and see if I put the sim back on my old phone and re-enable it that way.
My internet2.voicestream.com stopped working last week. I experience the same thing as others with wap working some of the time. I called T-mobile customer support to change to the normal data plan for $10. But the online account says the service is 200MB 4G but the data usage says 5GB Unlimited.

I think it will take them a few days to change what is shown on your account.
