[Q] Voodoo Beta 5 - Vibrant General

Just out of curiosity... does anyone know if Beta 5 is still in the works? Or has it since been dropped?

Follow SuperCurio on Twitter. It's still in the works with improved color fix and a new audio fix. I think JAC's been tied up with RL stuff as well.

thanks for the info!

I know it is an old topic...
But I just got my Vibrant and unfortunately I have the large chip and I can not apply the voodoo fix.
I have it next to my Galaxy S i9000 and the color of the vibrant is not looking good.
Is it the color fix out?

This belongs in the general section
My first impressions:
Better battery life
GPS is even a slightly bit better
3G seems to stay locked on a bit more, though not as well as it should be. BUT, I have seen it get stuck in 1X mode, which DJ05 didn't seem to.
Anyone else have specific questions ????
z4root doesn't work with it.
Gps now works for me

Might want to get it checked out. Sounds like it.
I have been using DL09 this morning and have not been impressed. Signal seems sketchy compared to DJ05 with the 3g fix. I used the 3g fix with DL09 and still nothing to write home about. Later I will switch back to DJ05 until aosp is straightened out or froyo hits. DJ05 and superclean with otb voodoo is a nice ride.

Sorry, but what 3g fix are you referring to? I want a 3g fix lol
Is there a way to root DL09?
I have DJ05 and I dont have any signal problems at all.
In fact I just went out to our property that I hunt on (it's in the boonies) and got better signal strength that I did with my BB Storm.
So I dont see where Dl09 would be an improvement?
Also, GPS usually locks in 2-6 secs inside!

Kaoscinate is cm ....but the screwed up galaxy s software makes aosp difficult.....inspite of that kaos jt and company have made good progress and vanilla aosp is pretty usable as a daily rom
We also still lack the source for Froyo (at least publicly), which is why our current EB01 voodoo kernels are a 'hack', and we don't have voodoo sound, BLN, etc.
The Froyo source may or may not help, depending on exactly how far Kaos is (it might be more work to figure out wtf is going on with the Froyo source, than just to finish up Kaoscinate).
it would be good to here from Kaoscinate dev with a status - anything - he was so good at updates with his progress up until the 2.2 leaks

EB01 is a later leak than DL30. It fixes a number of the various bugs in DL30, and is what it seems most of the developers have abandoned DL30 for.
There's several early EB01 threads in the dev section announcing it, that give a quick list of some of the improvements.
Ahaha! I read the "less than" symbol backwards. I was confused there for a moment.

[Q] Help With NS4G just bought... noob inside

hi i just bought a ns4g and i was wondering if there was a one click root ? i searched and found some but none for 2.3.4 ns4g only regular nexus... correct me if im wrong please and also i read that aosp has built in tethering and i was wondering if im not rooted or anything i wont get charged by using tethering? and last question i come from a epic and my nexus' speaker sounds really low is there a mod to this in the roms or is that a phone problem?

It might help to flash a custom kernel that supports voodoo control. Be careful not to boost the volume too much and blow the speaker. As with all mods, once you depart from stock there is a risk of screwing things up, especially if you don't what you're doing.

There is, but I don't suggest using it... it is easy to root the phone, just look up the guide and have fun. It's fun to figure out how to do stuff.
I have not heard of anyone being charged for tethering, but it does not tether 4G.
Download voodoo control from the market (requires a custom kernel, I suggest matrix kernel), it can raise the sound level.
have fun!
Matrix kernel is the best? Or which is the best

Both support bln, voodoo, overclock up to 1.4 MHz, and undervolt (for better battery and less stability).
Netarchy supports several additional features, such as touchscreen sensitivity tweaks if you tweak the config files. See the OP for the full list of features.
Matr1x runs at 1.2GHz by default (i.e. without changing the settings in Set CPU). It includes a custom boot animation, which you can change back if you like. Overall, it seems to be more stable, a bit smoother, and better for battery life. Compactness, stability, and battery life seem to be higher priorities to the dev than adding exciting new features. It is less tolerant of undervolting, if that's a concern. Turn off things such as wifi and 4g before flashing, to avoid issues.
Both devs are phenomenal, and I don't think you could go wrong with either. James Bond is also quite popular. For either, cfs seems to be slightly more stable than bfs for most people.
Note: Put the flamethrowers down. These are my own personal opinions and observations. YMMV
Matr1x kernel is very good i use it as my daily, if i were you i would just try them all and see which you prefer.
I have heard nothing but great things from both devs and their followers. I will probably try Matr1x first because it comes with Mikeyinid's rom already and his rom is about what I am looking for.

Epic 4G Owner Feedback Needed

Epic CM Team Google+: Vote to express your interests in future development.
Your votes and feedback would be helpful in determining our team's future development directions. For example, we have already learned that Epic 4G owners are not very interested in Galaxy Nexus and really would like their next phone to have a hardware keyboard. While we will read responses here on XDA, it would be more helpful to have +1 votes and responses in the Google+ thread. Thanks!

Ok. I'll bite.
I'll go answer your questions on google+, but...
The short answer is, I will use my epic, with whatever the latest, greatest rom that is available until it physically fails to operate any longer. Then I will buy whatever phone is available on Sprint that best does whatever I need it to do at the time.
I guess I'm planning on being around as long as possible. Hopefully my otterbox commuter case will be worth the investment.

Definitely holding out on getting a new device. Sprint is really ticking me off and I don't want to get a kickass device paired with crappy service. Turns a smartphone into a dumbphone. Thx for all the great roms. Feels like I have a new device already.

Back in? CM9 never did ship Voodoo color, and most of us dislike it. We will need to reassess this position after the crespo kernel merge since crespo kernel does have it. It currently causes the ugly-by-default gradient issue on crespo, the very reason why we didn't include it in CM9 kernel.
Ugh

I don't want to go back and hunt down the thread I read on Voodoo Color and Epic CM9.. maybe it was just talk on IRC. Moving right on.
That's good that this will be brought up again with the Crespo Merge. I currently do not see the gradient issue you're talking about.. I know what Gradient is, and I notice Gradient on Settings' Background.. not sure to what you're referring exactly to..
By "Most of Us" are you referring to the Epic CM Team? While it isn't much to go by, currently, the poll is at a win on putting Voodoo Color into future Epic CM9 Builds.. If you read the discussion, we even talked about ways to incorporate it without complaints from those who don't like it.
Green Tint has never been noticeable to me until I started using Voodoo Color. I kid you not, on Beta 1, I used Voodoo Color, and it was beautiful. I updated to Beta 2 with Stock Kernel, opened XDA app, and the white/grey background looked a disgusting green tint. I was disappointed. To me, its more noticeable than ever. If bad from Voodoo color exists, the good seems to outweigh it with deep, good coloring.
Hey wtogami, are there plans to integrate voodoo sound into the stock cm9 kernel (afaik it isn't already there)? Also, I read that you said after the merge we may be able to use nexus modems. Does that mean that we will be able to use their ril libs and framework as well instead of samsungril? It would make porting sense exponentially easier. Samsungril is a PITA to work with.
