ROM and SFB Question - Droid X General

So I have a quick question. I have a rooted DX still on 2.2 leaked (not official). I have the bootstrap and Clockwork updated as well as busybox. I also have the BlockModz status bar from ROM manager installed. So here is my question.
Can I .sfb back to 2.1 and not cause any issues or do I need to do something to get me back to STOCK 2.1 . Any help would be appreciate. Thanks Nick

If you have never applied the 2.2 official OTA update then I believe you can sbf back to 2.1. However, I think you need to make sure you wipe data and cache after the sbf completes. You should be able to search for the complete procedure to sbf back to 2.1 from 2.2 leak.

I know how to flash back to 2.1 with sfb using lite4.7 . I have no issue with that. I just have never done it after installing a custom ROM so I wanted to make sure the ROM wouldnt cause any issues.

screwed up, lost root and now i have 2.1 and no clue on where to go from here

ok, i had my girls eris running 2.1 for a while now, and she didnt like how it was running so i was going to try and load sensable 3.0 for her to see if she liked it better. somehow i got to the hboot menu instead of the recover menu and went through an update process there. now i dont have root, and i dont have a custom recovery.
firmware 2.1
baseband 2.69.29
build 2.19.605.1
browser webkit 3.1
prl 65120
eri version 5
so what do i do? is there a way to get root back? am i running the same 2.1 leak that i had on there before? or is this the offial update? all of my exp in this is for the moto droid, so im kinda a newb on the eris. please help!
I did the same thing. Just reroot like you normally would.
If you accidentally flashed one of the leaked versions, or if you had a leaked version already installed no you cant root right now.
If you just flashed back to the original rooted 2.1 rom then just re install the recovery img like you did before

How to unroot 2.2 OTA?

Guys,
I was wondering if it possible to unroot My Droid X that has 2.2 OTA from Verizon? I tried to unroot with a few root/unroot problems but once I reboot the Black Ninja is still there and I'm still rooted. The only reason why I want to know just in case I might have to return my phone to Verizon . Thanks in advance.
There may be an easier solution but why not use RSD and the OTA 2.2 SBF. I know it is not a complete SBF for OTA 2.2 but it should reload the OTA 2.2 system files thous removing root and restoring the phone back to OTA 2.2.
Do you know where I might be able to get the 2.2 OTA ? THanks.
If you follow this link you should be able to get RSD as well as the SBF file needed.
The 2.2 sbf file is just the system files without any apps? Would I be able to get the official 2.2 ota once I flash with the.2.2 system only sbf?

The SBF should be the system files so I would think it would have all the stock apps with it as well. To be honest I haven't tried using it to see what it restores but like I said I would assume all the stock apps should be reinstalled with it I would imagine.
Then what's the difference between the official 2.2ota sbf that isn't released yet?

[Q] Clean 2.2 (rooted or not) OTA nandroid?

hey all-
looking for someone who might have a wiped (factory reset/data) OTA 2.2 nandroid. i was stupid, jumped the gun and flashed sbf back to 2.1 and ran the OTA update... didn't have any issues with the update but the phone just ran like crap after... dropped calls, random reboots, wifi fighting with 3g ect... i luckily saw the info about NOT flashing back to 2.1 from the ota... but doing some "trouble shooting" with a verizon rep, when he had me do a battery pull i noticed i booted to bootstrap recovery, i rolled the dice, hoped a nandroid backup would cause the issues a 2.1 sbf did and went back to a leaked 2.39 froyo. phone has been flawless since, but im starting to wonder if im forever stuck in "limbo" and if i get to the point of returning the phone, id like to be able to do that with the ota... ive seen several clean nandroids of the 2.2 leak and thought if anyone was running a stock 2.2 ota... factory reset and nandroid?

I'm currently on the leaked 2.3.15 and wanted to know if I restored your nandroid for only the system, would I be running the OTA without updating anything else like the bootloader?

its already wiped, but if u have problems just wipe again... and no they can't tell unless they check into the system files which they don't need to touch at all.

[Q] noob question on update

So currently I'm running on liberty x1.5 and when checking system phone updates, it says it is up to date. I'm sure it's not however since I see news of 2.2 laying around the net if I'm not mistaken. Do I have to revert back to factory to update my phone or how exactly does the process go about. Do I even benefit from the new version if I am running liberty or will liberty have it's own updates... sorry I am new to this whole rom scene and seeking guidance, thanks in advance.
If you put a rom on your phone you won't be able to pull any updates ota... the 2.3.3 update is a leak that tbh put on the net... in order to put it on your phone you need to sbf, and then install the 2.3.3... there are guides on doing this at mydroidworld.com

There is no new OTA yet. It's a leak also OTA's won't come to your phone on anything other than stock.
Thank you very Much guys. I don't want to trouble by making a new thread so ill ask here. I tried restoring to factory form from both reboot clockwork and on settings privacy but it just leads me back to liberty rom.
So to make things clear, there is no official 2.2 jslust a leak. Plus would I even benefit from any updates if I'm running a modded rom?

Official 2.2 is the version that liberty is based off of. doing a factory reset from within the OS will not take you back to factory stock ROM. Did make a nandroid backup before flashing liberty? if so then you should be able to do a restore and you will have a rooted stock rom. If you didn't make a backup then you will need to SBF (I SBF between roms anyway).
Pretty sure he's just confused with version numbers.
Froyo = 2.2
Gingerbread = 2.3
The only available gingerbread rom at the moment is leaked stock and is version 2.3.3. 2.2 is Froyo and has been officially out now for months, it is what all the custom roms out (liberty, fission, rubix etc) are based off of.
so does this mean im automatically running on 2.2 because im using liberty? if so why does it say 2.1.2 on the about phone in settings? does it matter?
I'd be willing to bet it doesn't say 2.1.2 and it actually says 2.2.1. Am I right?
(To answer your question, yes you are running 2.2 Froyo. There are minor update builds to each major release, hence 2.2.1 and for Gingerbread, 2.3.3).

[Q] Help returning to Froyo from leaked Gingerbread

Hey,
I'm coming from a rooted Thunderbolt and I understand a bit about flashing different roms, but this seems different.
My little brother decided that he wanted to update his Froyo X to the leaked gingerbread before it was rooted. Well, he did. But now he's getting random reboots and wants to either move back to Froyo or just move to something stable. What exactly needs to be done to do this?
Like I said, I have a rooted thunderbolt so I was exposed to using adb to get root. Would the process be similar in this case? Also, is there a way to flash back to Froyo without doing a full data wipe? He said he didn't do a wipe when he installed gingerbread.
Do a search on how to SBF for the Droid X. You can "sbf" back to stock froyo and reroot with z4root app. From there, he can upgrade to stable rooted GB or stay at froyo. If you'd like to know how to upgrade to a rooted version of GB, visit mydroidworld.com and there's lots of info there on how to do so and all the files you need.
