Sync Symbol Ever Since Upgrade to 2.2 - Droid X General

So, ever since I upgraded to 2.2 I've had a stationary sync symbol in my Droid X's status bar. At first it was a minor nuisance and I looked around to see if any one else was having a similar issue, but as I didn't notice any negative effects I shrugged it off as a glitch and learned to live with it.
However, over the last few days, I've missed a few birthdays because they weren't syncing properly with my phone's calendar. I started investigating the problem and in doing so found what was causing the hanging sync. When I went into my phone's application settings, the sync icon would disappear after hitting "force stop" on the "contact sync" application.
Furthermore, I noticed my primary gmail account (the one the calendar and phone are synced to) under My Accounts, was not syncing properly. I never noticed this before because I use k-9 mail and have sync on the gmail account only set up for contacts and calendars.
So, the situation is that my phone's gmail is not syncing (or is just hangning when it tries to sync) and I want to know how I can fix this without a factory reset (as that would be a major pain in my ass).

I had this problem too and tried everything to no avail. I did about 4 factory resets and it finally went away.

All phone contacts vanished

I'm sorry if there was any mention of this problem before, but I wasn't able to find it.
But what happened this afternoon was kinda troubling. I've just bought my HTC Hero, two days ago. I've synced it with outlook with 700 something contacts. And all was fine. There was some trouble with syncing, but all contacts were transferred to phone memory.
When out of a blue, this afternoon, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and all contacts simply vanished. Calendar was still intact, txts as well, all fine but the contacts.
When I came home, I tried to sync it again but it just synced two calendar notes. It synced as if all contacts were on the phone, but they were not. So I've managed to restore them by over-riding phone with PC.
Can anyone explain this? How do I know this won't happen again?
I'm using Windows 7 and Outlook 2007 as well as the latest edition of HTC Sync.
(maybe relevant, maybe not, I've managed to hopefully resolve the before mentioned troublesome connection when syncing by manually installing drivers for Windows 7)
Thank you. I hope I was clear.
Probaby an obvious one but if you go into Contacts=>Menu=>View have you accidentally unchecked the set contacts you want to show ?
I'm having the same problem, but running Windows XP w/ Outlook 2007 instead.
First time was using stock ROM. One day all my contacts disappeared (phone and google contacts). The phone contacts I retrieved by forcing HTC Sync to overwrite my phone's data with my PC's. The google contacts I retrieved by doing a factory reset and setting up my google account again.
Then I installed MCR 2.6, and again my contacts disappeared, but this time only the phone contacts (the google contacts remained).
Has anyone else experienced this?
The same problem, twice.
Both time I had this problem when I sent a message.
I think this should be a problem of the ROM-version, and I hope the next ROM will fix it.
I've been trying to figure this out forever.
Every once in a while my phone contacts will vanish, but the Google contacts always remain.
I've tried turning off synchronization for Google contacts and it seems that my phone contacts have stopped vanishing for now. Has anyone faced a similar situation?
Simply migrate you contacts to google. Its very easy. Quite why anyone struggles with Outlook on Android is a mystery. I was Outlook mad pre the Hero, now everything is migrated to googlemail/google calendar/google contacts.
No USB connecting nonsense for updates, all over the air, 2 way sync. Much better than outlook ever was.

Calendar not synching?

My HTC calendar widget has stopped working it just shows the "Loading" text and even if you go into the calendar app no events are present. Going to Sync/Accounts and selecting my Google account shows the circular arrow next to "Sync Calendar" - not sure if this means it is trying to sync, but it is there all the time and the arrow is not animated. I don't think this is to do with the Calendar app specifically, since if I use the Google widget nothing shows up there either.
Occasionally, it will work after I reset the phone, but otherwise it is mostly stuck in this state. Any tips on how to diagnose the problem or how to get it working again?
I have the same issue. I found out that when I am also using the Exchange ActiveSync calendar account sync - the calendar's functionality malfunctions more often.
I too have yet to fully understand the root cause for this isseue.
One thing, though, when calendar is stuck in syncing, it consumed a lot of cpu and it blocks other apps from working properly.
I would really appreciate more comments regarding this issue.
Thanks!
Does anything sync and do you ahve the sync service running?
It sometimes works, sometimes not. When it does, UK Holidays, Facebook and my standard Google Calendar syncs, but other calendars on GC do not. They show up on the calendars list fine, but they are not displayed. Actually now looking at it, it seems it may just be loading a cache of previous information, since there's events on the calendar that I've sinced deleted. The sync service I'm pretty sure is running, called Sync and Accounts under OSmonitor? That one's running. Everything else on my phone (Friend Stream, mail, weather) syncs fine, it's just this damned calendar.
I hadn't noticed the Exchange ActiveSync calendar prior to this - it was set to sync even though I don't have anything on it. I have since disabled it and it seems to have improved slightly, but the calendar still shows up calendars list. I've emailed HTC about this, hopefully they'll have some idea of how to fix it.
Ok quick update - HTC emailed me telling me to clear the cache. Having done so (and disabling ActiveSync which I wasn't using anyways) my calendar seems to be working. Anybody with this problem might want to try this and see if it works.
Same as you, I had lot of sync problems with Exchange. It was completely unreliable, until I discovered Laurie's blog !
http://laur.ie/blog/2010/09/exchange-2010-sp1-sync-with-android-froyo/
I installed the Google stock 2.2 email apk (as described in the blog) and after few minutes my calendar was fully synchronized and I receive emails in push. That's great
I am not sure that would solve your issue but it is worth trying it.
(make sure to delete the HTC exchange account).
Hope this helps.

Exchange sync issues with the Epic 4G

When I try to add a corporate exchange email account, it stays stuck on a "loading" screen. I can get out of the email app and use the phone, but when I go back to email it's still on the loading screen - this will go on for hours (even if i soft reset the phone). Won't sync contacts or calendar either. It seems many have had this issue on other forums, but I haven't found a solution or a reason why it's happening. Anyone have any info on this?
I have not had any issues with 2.1 and now on 2.2. When you setup the account sync try not sycing mail maybe only contacts if that works then do calendar and so on. I have seen problem mail and calendar items that cause issues like this on other mobile phones at my work.

Broken Sync

Not syncing any contacts or calendars on any accounts. I usually see the little double-arrow sync icon at the top after I hit the sync button in the settings, but I have not seen that in a long time. I power cycled the droid, I disabled and reenabled the sync settings and made sure all items were checked, I updated the profile and PRL in the system settings. I made a new gmail acct and added new contact and events but neither synced to my droid. I added a hotmail exchange acct and the contacts and calendar is not syncing. The status message is "never synced" but the email is syncing properly. When I go to calendar on the droid I only see the default gmail calendar, not the new gmail calendar or hotmail calendar. Called sprint but their troubleshooting steps basically consisted of power cycling, updating profile, factory reset. Factory reset is out of the question because if I do that I will lose all of my new data since the last sync, which could have been a month ago. I could really use some help. Does anyone have ideas? Thanks.

Anyone else having sync issues?

Is anyone else having sync issues?
When syncing Google Contacts it will say "Sync Not available at this time"
I am getting gmail emails late. Sometimes 10 minutes and other times a few hours.
The built in Facebook app also will not sync with my phone. It won't even give me the option to turn the sync on. I am not getting any notifications for Facebook either.
I just came back to Android from an iPhone and all of this crap is making me think twice.
I don't use Facebook but my phone doesn't seem to be having issues syncing to my Google account. Contacts etc. Are all OK.
If you are at a loss you could always try to factory reset? Bit of a pain though setting everything up again.
Once you get the teething issues sorted I'm sure you won't regret the move from Apple
Google Contact Sync Issues
Did you ever get a reply about your sync issues? I cannot get my Google contacts (People?) to sync over to my Galaxy S7 and I'm about to kill someone...
