"Disk Drive Mode" disabled? - eXpo GW820, GW825 IQ General

Hey are your expos able to go on the "Disk Drive" mode for transfering files?
I'm using the Canadian version of expo (Telus LG IQ) and it doesn't seem to have that option..
e.g. on a normal Windows Mobile phone, there are 2 options, like in this thread:
/showpost.php?p=2963756&postcount=2
My phone doesn't have the 2nd option. Is this usual?

you have to use wm5 storage to enable it. darks newer roms have it installed already.

Thanks, installed it and works perfectly!

New Droid X can't install USB composite device

Hello folks,
Last Saturday, my Droid X was stolen. I just got the replacement today and being a semi-noob, I just realized that I hadn't copied all of my Titanium Backup from the SD card to the computer so now I'm basically stuck at the beginning.
I'm ready to root my device but I've hit a roadblock. For some reason, I cannot get through the installation for USB Composite Device. I've tried PC Mode, Mass Storage, Windows Media Sync, and Charge Only. Sometimes I can see the icon of the Droid in my computer but I can't get it to show only the removable storage device.
Cannot Install this Hardware - Error occurred during the installation of the device. The System cannot find the file specified.
I don't want to root and backup everything to the SD card if my computer won't read the SD card. I have the motorola drivers installed and this worked fine on the previous phone.
Can anyone help me figure out this problem? Thanks!
Make sure the Motorola drivers are installed correctly on your PC. You might need to locate the latest versions from motorola to do this.
IIRC, I had a similar problem on my work PC originally. For some reason, the automatic detection wasn't set to check the Internet for drivers, so it was only looking on my laptop. Try checking that.
Did you try changing the phone settings so "USB debugging" was on? Sorry- I can't remember where the heck it is now. The settings on this phone to me are just wonkie. It's in there though. Try it with that turned on.
Usb debugging is in settings>applications>development

Turn USB Debugging off. Set USB connections to Mass Storage.
If you have autplay turned on, then Windows will offer to run/install the moto connect software. This version is slightly different ( from what reason?) from the one available at Moto's website.
Run that full install, THEN switch over to USB Debugging and allow it to install the drivers (Again)

Desire HD seen as 'UNKNOWN DEVICE' in Windows 7

Hello Everyone,
Unfortunately, in Windows 7 (32bit) the phone shows up as 'UNKNOWN DEVICE' in device manager. I have HTC Sync installed, Android SDK with USB drivers, I even hacked the inf file to add the hardware id of the Desire HD with no luck. Does anyone know if the hardware id on the Telus Desire HD is different than USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0CA2&MI_01?? I also flashed back to the original rom in case something got screwed up but no luck. Any help would be appreciated as I'm desperate.
Thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Exchanged it at Telus and new one works fine on stock rom. As soon as I upgrade to CM7 I lose USB connectivity again.
I have removed HTC sync and only Android SDK with USB drivers, Device manager show "Android USB Device" and sub menu "My HTC"
hi.. i had a similar problem with my windows 7 pro (64 bit).. have you tried disabling "fast boot" and "usb debugging" enabled then restarting the phone?.. this is the only way i could get my windows to see the phone on the first install.. good luck and let us know how you get on.

I'm pretty sure I have tried that, but then again I have done so many things it's hard to confirm. I'll try that again to make sure and let everyone know.
Thanks.

I'll have to give this a shot as well.
Install the driver first.

Tried all suggestions listed repeatedly with no success. It doesn't even mount the sdcard in Windows or MAC OSX. My Dell Streak will at least mount the sdcard with no drivers installed.
Try with another computer, and select disk drive. It should not require any additional drivers, the phone is a plug & play device.

This is happening on my desktop and laptop.
Then there is something wrong with your phone. Are you using a custom ROM?

No, it's the original rom. The reason I want to connect it is that I 'want' to install a custom rom. Problem is the computer never recognizes the phone.
Anyone have any other suggestions, I'm desperate. Looking into getting it warrantied through Telus but but want to send it in if I don't have to. Don't want to wait who knows how long to get it back.

driver problem

i don't know why but drivers for windows 7 doesn't work well with my milestone 2
if i try to connect my phone "as a memory", like a flash usb drive, windows try to install driver from windows update but fail and i can't copy files from/to my phone, like it's not connected
if i use "windows mode" (didn't remember the correct name ) it work but it is so slow to do everything
now i have cyanogenmod from endless7, perfect mod but without this "windows mode" so i can't connect my phone with my pc with windows, it's strange because RSD lite recognize my phone, so i don't know if the driver work or not
someone know the solution?
plug in your mobile, then right click on my computer > manage > device manager, there should be an MTP service that's got a yellow question mark. Right click on it, press driver update > search my computer for the driver, click on "let me choose from driver list" and there should be something like usb mass storage, click on it and click next. Can't describe it as it should be because I already did it a while ago Hope it helps, worked for me!
i love you, it work thanks
Same problem when connecting like Portal & Tools. Tip doesn't work (no usb mass storage driver). Using CyanogenMod 7.
Any suggestions?

MM - USB transfer problem

Hi, 2 weeks ago I was still able to transfer files through MTP.
Since I've tried again today, my PC detects it as MTP, but it's not showing up as a drive in "This PC"
Also, I've noticed, it doesn't come up with "Allow access to device data" option anymore - so this could be the reason?
I used TWRP and was able to see the SD card data (I have encryption so I can't see the device data)
Anyone else have this problem?
I've tried enabling/disabled USB debugging mode.
I've tried on a few PCs and MACs
Can't figure it out! Annoying!
still can't figure it out - Any idea why "Allow access to device data" doesn't pop up anymore? I have used another s7 edge on my PC and it comes up with the option and works fine. It has to be something with my device
Any apps removed/disabled?

USB connection detected in windows only in Recovery Mode

Today my rooted Galaxy Note 3 running Phronesis N7 port v4 ROM (Lollipop) suddenly is not showing up in Windows explorer. However, when I go to recovery mode, I can see the device in windows and browse the files without problems. The only difference is that the device shows up now in windows with the name "hlte" instead of the usual "Android phone" name.
It actually connects fine when I use "FX Explorer" app with its file sharing feature which allows me to connect via wifi with an Internet browser or any other similar windows/android browser but not in windows explorer with usb cable.
This ROM has been working great for months and I cannot think of any changes made recently.
I re-started both the PC and the phone, pull the battery, etc. to no avail.
Obviously it's not the cable (which I've anyways changed) or the drivers which they report as the 'latest' by windows, so I'm at a loss.
Any ideas ?
Thanks
Install Samsung drivers again .

I already did uninstall and re-install the drivers to no avail.
However, I did a backup and then restored in TWRP a backup from 2 weeks ago and the problem is not there so it had to be caused by an app or a setting introduced during the past two weeks .... So I restored again the backup that I did earlier and uninstalled the apps that I remember but the problem is still there.
Did you check which USB protocol you have selected, maybe you changed this by accident. Then you connect your mostly the USB setting are available by pulldown but you might need to search in settings.
All new phones using MTP protocol, you need to have installed th media player installed on windows for driver(the samsund driver will not install this). I thing it's a buggy implementation, slow, only single file tranfer and often need to reconnect your device to work.
Optional you can select PTP which esentional simulates a camera.
In some custom roms you can select the good old mass storage protocol. Which is fast, stable but need to close every app accessing internal or external storage.

Did you set debug usb in developers options? Which USB mode is selected also in developers options?

Not true at all .
OP download and run USBDEVIEW and delete the drivers/ usb port .

USB debugging is enabled and MTP mode is the mode selected. Phronesis selects MTP by default in the pulldown which is really handy rather than having to switch from charging mode every time that you connect the cable.

Not sure how you mean to delete drivers, do you mean through USBDEVIEW? or the samsung drivers through windows uninstall?
I've already uninstalled/installed them before (see post #3).
Here is what USBDEVIEW gives me:
Through USBdeview delete.

Try to switch off USB debugging, don't know why but sometimes windows drivers go wrong, especially when you use a different usb port and it tries to install them - I solve restarting pc plus a kick (stress relief) and Note3

No luck ... it didn't make any difference. Thanks anyway.
