Sync Protocol Error - HTC Aria General

About every 2 weeks, I get a sync protocol error when my exchange account tries to sync. Anyone know what the issue is what this? This is for an HTC Aria
The only solution seems to be, deleting the account and readding it but this tends to get annoying after a while.
Any help with this? Thanks

Am I the only person with this issue?

Same here, on two different devices. One within 2 days of setting up and mine after 2 months.
Email states "sync protocol error", but contacts and calendar sync just fine. I haven't been able to figure out what, if anything, might be in the mailbox and in the way.

This defect seems to be centered around resolution of sync conflicts.
A better workaround than removing the account on the device and adding it back is to use the Exchange Mobile Device Admin, search for the user's partnership, and delete the active partnership. The next sync will work.

Exchange ActiveSync problems

I wonder if anyone has experienced the same problems I have using the Exchange ActiveSync feature?
1) The contacts synchronisation stops after a while stating an error: Client/Server conversion error
2) The calendar entries are changed on the server after synchronisation.
I have had several Windows Mobile devices before but never experienced these errors.

I am getting this error as well.
Didn't happen at first, for the first 2 days, but now it is happening all the time and I have also done a full reset.
Same issue here. I have noticed though that it only happens when i create calendar entries directly on the phone. If i create a new event in Outlook and sync it works fine.

sorry if this sounds dumb, but when you create entries in your phone are you picking the exchange group or the default phone group?
check out touchdown. best software i have ever used!
Not usre about the Calendar issue but I have the same problem with Contacts sync. Here is some information I found from another forum:
http://androidforums.com/htc-magic/6049-rogers-htc-magic-exchange-sync-weirdness.html
It seems there is a conflict between GMail Sync and sync with Contacts in my exchagne server. Will someone be able to come up with a fix?

Messaging App Launches By Itself Randomly

WM 6.5, HTC Imagio on Verizon
Recently, my HTC Imagio has started to launch the Messaging (Pocket Outlook) app randomly and without any input from me at all. Yes, I have an Exchange ActiveSync account as well as Hotmail Push setup but, again, this strange behavior only started a week or two ago and I have had Exchange ActiveSync setup for months. I have made it a point to make sure that Messaging/Pocket Outlook is completely closed down when I am through with it, but Messaging/Pocket Outlook continues to launch itself fully, without any input from me whatsoever.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just started getting this when I added my yahoo account, never happened while using it to sync with my exchange server. so I am thinking it has something to do with adding a pop 3 account.
Probs with Yahoo! Too
I have had unrelated problems with Yahoo! mail on my WM 6.5 HTC Imagio. With only an Exchange ActiveSync and Hotmail Push account running, however, does anyone have any clue as to why Messaging/Outlook Mobile would recently begin to launch by itself randomly?
Same here, very strange, I cannot notice a pattern, it just happens sometimes, I'm synced to an EXCHANGE server as well as hotmail
I deleted my Yahoo account and Hotmail Account off the Phone and have not had it happen since. I still sync with my Company Server, but the app does not open by itself, so I am thinking it had something to do with the 5 minute sync for yahoo and/or hotmail accounts.
Just wondering if maybe Verizon or HTC has launched an over-the-air update to supposedly fix something, which has in turn broken email?
I don't know if it'll work, but a hard-reset or flashing back to stock ROM might help. If it does, then I'd sure be contacting HTC or Verizon to let them know their "fix" is systematically breaking phones.
Has anyone inquired as to wether or not any OTA updates have been applied by their carriers?
Has anyone heard of any potential fix to this problem? I recently upgraded my Imagio's ROM to 3.04.605.7 -- it was only after that upgrade that Messaging started to open itself every five minutes when it checks my gmail account. I don't recall any of that happening under the OEM ROM. Any thoughts beyond downgrading to the last version?

[Q] Exchange ActiveSync

For two weeks this apps works fine, syncronising perfectly well with my MS outlook mail, contacts and calendar. 2 days ago I realised that outlook email has not been coming in through auto sync. When I (force) synchronise, I keep getting the message "Sync Prorocol Error" for the mail. I can send emails but cannot receive. The calendar and contacts are synchronised ok. I can sync other folders but not Inbox.
Anyone knows how to resolve this ??
I am confused, Are you syncing with a local Outlook or are you actually using Exchange Activesync to sync to a Exchange server?

I am trying to sync with Exchange server, via 3G or internet connection.
I've done quite a lot of search on the problem but there're not many clear solution. So I decided to delete the account (all mails, calendar and contacts deleted) and re-activate again (of course very tedious, especially with so many emails and contacts to sync). But so far it seems to solve the problem (not sure what was wrong), sync every hour and it's good. Have to wait for a few days and see how it goes.

Update
After two days (after deleting and re-activating account), Activesync seems to be working alright now. Mails, calendar and contacts auto updated without problem, both using G/3G/E/H or WiFi Not sure what was wrong

After about a week it happened again. No outlook emails coming in. When force sync, "Sync Prorocol Error" came out. However I can send emails and I can sync "sent item" folder but not "inbox". Calendar and contacts are ok.
Anyone experienced and found answers to this.

Active Sync issue - Unable to open connection to server

I am trying to test out my company's first Epic and I put in all the info, email address, domain\user name, password, server address. It accepts my info, I take the defaults of how much data to transfer and frequency, then it brings me to the mailbox. It shows my sub folders to the inbox, it populates my calendar and contacts. It leaves me on the main inbox folder and then a yellow bar comes up " Unable to open connection to server" and nothing populates in my inbox.
My company is on Exchage 2003, I have a vibrant working just fine as well as a HTC evo. I tried with multiple exchange accounts on the same server but get the same result.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Same Problem with Exchange and Epic 4G
We are using Exchange 2003 as well. Contact, Calendar, and other mail folders show up just fine. I can see sent items, deleted items, and all other sub folders. When I try to load the inbox, I get the same error message.
What gives?
I just picked the phone up about 2 hours ago and came right here to figure it out!
My company uses Exchange 2008 and I'm able to connect just fine. So much quicker and easier than the moment.
I had the same problem. I had to go to gmail and import my contacts for hotmail and then sync my phone to the gmail account.
i heard that when 2.2 comes out, the exchange settings would work.
i am only getting 50 of my 812 contacts to import.

I lost about 20 out of 252. So I just went back added the ones I'm missing.
Active sync support with most android phones is very dodgy -- some work and some don't. And I'm not talking about some models over another -- it's a unit specific issue. Some Epics do and some don't. The same thing was happening with the Droid X. The only models that consistently work are from HTC because they have their own active sync program in sense.
no workie, workie, now no workie
So i was here back at the beginning of September. Exchange would not load my inbox, then one day it started working for no reason I could find. I stopped using Moxier Mail and went to the built in email program.
Then two days ago, my Exchange account and another IMAP account I have set up on the mail client disappeared from the phone. NO idea why. My email, contacts, and calendar just vanished.
So I added back my exchange account, contacts and calendar came in just fine. Now my Exchange mail is back to where I was two months ago.
"Unable to open connection to server", that's all I get on the screen for my inbox.
Epic 4G, Exchnage 2003, built in mail client.
So I have a similar infrastructure to you, we run Exchange 2003 currently and have had numerous issues with the Epics. I have a couple tricks that really seems to help (at least in my environment)
1. When setting up the phone make sure the Calendar amount is set to All
2. Setting up the phone over Wi-Fi as opposed to the mobile connection seems to work significantly better.
3. If you have issues with the users calendar 9 times out of 10 its due to corrupt entries which not only cause issues with the calendar syncing, but also consume a huge amount of bandwidth. To correct this create a new calendar in Outlook, go into List view and copy everything from your calendar to the new one. All entries that cant copy need to be deleted. Move all your stuff back from the temp calendar to yours and the issue should be fixed.
I am running the leaked 2.2 on my Epic currently and it does seem to address a lot of the issues the Epic had with 2.1 and Active Sync.
Hope this helps and let me know if you have any questions.

Gmail App & Exchange (Lack of it...)

Soooo, I've been using the Gmail app for my work's exchange on my HTC One, but after receiving my S7 edge yesterday and attempting to setup exchange on the app, I noticed there is no option for it? The only way I can setup exchange on this phone (w/o downloading Outlook I suppose) is to set it up on Samsung's native email app... Anyone else notice this? Kind of BS if you ask me. The Gmail app is better IMO for my email needs.

Download the latest version of Exchange Services from here - http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/exchange-services/
You'll have to enable unknown sources for install. Close the Gmail app before install, reopen and add account, and you'll find Exchange access there.

Same here. I am getting the dreaded "Sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly." message when it is trying to sync the calendar. Emails have been coming through just fine the past couple of days but the calendar does not seem to be synching properly. I also get this error message when it tries to sync contacts as well but I'm not as concerned with the contacts. I've tried several workarounds that are out there on the web but I have stopped short of doing a factory reset, which I would prefer to avoid if possible. Has anyone tried the factory reset option and can confirm that it actually resolves the issue?
I am wondering if the issue may be a bug with the latest version of the Exchange Services apk that we are using (5.0.106634657).
I just decided to run my email through Gmail but use MS Active Sync for Calendar.
Has anyone had any success with the Gmail Calendar sync issue yet?
I may have to go the MS Active Sync route.
You could also set up the account in the default mail app, and turn off sync for everything but the calendar. I'm using that app to sync my exchange account, and everything works.
