Well, I'm sure there are plenty of Streakies out there using Rebel Sim...
Discuss.....!
I am using one on mine.
Seemed perfect at first, I just put it in and got on the net straight away WITHOUT putting in a new APN. Full H signal everywhere.
I got a couple of texts thru, but four hours after using the rebelsim, my missis came home from work complaining that my phone has been off for four hours. Sure enough, i put my sim back in my HD2 and a flurry of messages came thru!
Apparently, according to an email another rebelsim user recieved, you have to turn the streak to 2g only mode for a while then put it back into 3g when you need to use the net.
Ill test it out!
29-06-10- Just taken it out in town(1 mile), didnt loose H signal once. Ill be at work tomorrow which is 20 miles away so we'll see how it is after that...fingers x'ed
30-06-10-
Right, well just got back from work. Lost signal as soon as I got to work, didnt get it back for aaages. To get it back....I put the sim in my HD2(without rebel) and still no singal, to get signal i have top manually select t-mobile, and network connectivity was restored. Then I put the sim back in my Steak and hey presto i got signal. Switched 3G on and all was ok, even got thru a few texts. But sure enouogh I lost signal again after about an hour, but i just put sim in HD2 then back in Streak and it works!
There is a pdf on the Rebel site which explains that the Network keys on the SIM are refreshed by installing your SIM in an unlocked phone. I have been using the streak in GPRS only mode and I have had no issues for 1 week. I switch to 3g when I need it but always return it to gprs-only after. I Google everyday to see if I can find an unlock code but none seems to be selling them.....yet.....But for now, I can live with this because the streak is just great. I sold my milestone and don't miss it.

I constantly loose my signal, using Rebelsim when e.g. i'm on subway or in a basement and Streak is unable to find my network again (no service message).
The only solution is to put my sim in another 2g phone and back to my streak, and it works. Ofcourse i have tried only using gprs or even no data at allo, but to no avail.
It is practically impossible to use my phone this way, because many times a day i enter areas where the signal is minimal or zero and my phone gets out of service and i need to swap my sim cards.
Any chance we could see a permanent solution (maybe an unlock software here, a site selling unlock codes or even o2 providing them now that streak is being sold sim free)?
I am desperate because i live thousands miles away from England and i see my hard earned cash streak becoming useless.
I dont understand how can rebel sim sell the product...it is not working at all...is anybody here using a rebel sim with full satisfactin..? without any problem..?

If the device looses signal for some reason then you should put your sim in another phone and vice versa to streak, for it to work. No matter if you have 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G,... Period.
Completely unreliable and unusable...
That's not good news!!!
I bought one from eBay , I will have it within the next days, and I was hoping that the rebel sim card would do the job.
As I read a lot are having problems !
Any other way to unlock the Streak ?
I also bought Dell Streak off eBay based on earlier thoughts that it would work flawlessly on Rebel sim. I guess living in AU has it's tolls. I think I might be selling it back to UK friends.
I am just holding back for a few days, RebelSim might have an update or someone will actually get a software unlock for us. Fingers crossed!

The product has always worked from the start
using the V1.1 it was more complicated to get it going none the less the solution was working and still no other solutions exist other Rebel Sim II
with v1.2 we added auto APN detection and auto Regeneration of authentication keys within the Dell so you never loose network and if ever you do then it can regain it self without taking out and also fixed 3G issues for users with free upgrade with v1.2
Rebel simcard
1.2 works like a charm!
I'm loving the Streak!

$25 USD including shipping, will ship express. Bought for a Dell Venue Pro and things didn't work out. Will be preloaded with 1.3
I found this kinda interesting. I was playing around with the APN's and on my sim card iam able to use both .wap and HSDPA data connections with my sim card I upgraded with. But I took a sim card out of a BlackBerry Bold 9700 and I was only able to use the. .wap apn to connect to data, the HSDPA apn wouldn't connect.

Its working as intended
Just got off the phone with AT&T business because of network issues I am having today, and I asked about SIM cards since there are so many conflicting reports on what works.
I was told that any 3G SIM card which has the fireball logo does not need to be upgraded, as it will work as intended with the pseudo 4G network. If you have an older 3G SIM card, it will require replacement.
Also, I was told when I asked about us getting "4G" speed, that no towers in my area, (10 miles W of Boston), or where I work, (10 miles NW of Boston), are at the moment being upgraded for this capability. No dates show in the AT&T system for any of the towers in either location. I was told that if at all possible, everyone will have 4G speeds by the end of the year, which she told me would be 20mbps down. She also told me that some of the towers in my area are not even 3G capable.
We shall see as time moves on!

BBs also use a different dataplan so the APN may not be one allowed through that plan.
When I was on the phone with att they said I had HSPA+ enabled on my account/sim card, thought this might be a the issue. Has anyone bought a Atrix outright (without upgrade or new contract) have problems using data when conne ted to hspa data connection?

I have Motorola Xoom 4g (just sent it in for the upgrade) and a Thunderbolt (also 4g). I have an unlimited data plan with the phone number on my Thunderbolt.
Does anyone know if I can switch my unlimited data plan to the Xoom? Would I have to switch SIM or can I just call Verizon?
Nope you can't!

Yeah, not a problem. Even shows the new device in my online account. The LTE user guide specifically says that you can do this:
"You can move the 4G LTE SIM Card from one device to another and your wireless service will work seamlessly as long as you have a compatible device and service plan"
So far, my regular plan has been considered compatible for them...

That would be AWESOME! I use my tablet for school and run to my 3GB limit every month. I could probably easily pull out 5GB if I used it how I wanted to. That unlimited plan is much needed.
Wait til they see you doing it! Then your hit with huge date charges for it. It may work but remember you got warned ahead of time.

Are you posting this from experience, or just something you think may happen? I've not heard from anyone that saw extra charges. As long as you don't go over you data bundle limit, you shouldn't see anything.

Thats the whole point of a Sim card is to be able to move it from device to device... Even their own documentation says that. But who knows with VZW. When I had T-mobile and At&t I used to swap Sims all the time.
All I'm saying is the sim is not just for data. They may not care. I would just be cautious because the xoom is a 3g/4g device. The 3g is not on an unlimited data. The sim should work no problem though. I wish they would offer an unlimited plan for the xoom.

OK, no offense here, but it really benefits everyone if you don't just make crap up. Your initial post simply said it would not work, and you had nothing to back it up with. Then you said they'd charge more, once again with nothing to back it up with. Unless you have experience in being billed for LTE data usage on a sim-swapped device, just ignore the question, or post "I'd like to know this too, because I don't actually know anything about it".
Thunderbolt sim moves to my UML290 to my Samsung LTE hotspot without a single problem, and as long as I don't bump past the 5GB, nothing in my plan entitles Verizon to any extra revenue from me. If I ever see any charges, I'll be sure to post about it.
Will 3g also work through the sim? This is without having any type of data plan on the XOOM.

I was wrong it will work, but if you have a data plan on your xoom you risk the 3g switching on. If you have no data then your actually good, that is if you can get the xoom to activate with the sim. Turns out they added a second number to the xoom during the upgrade. And it links the sim, serial number, and imei together. Did I leave anything out this time?

Uhhhh... Unlimited 4G includes unlimited 3G. If it didnt, people would be paying for a mostly useless data plan, as 4G coverage is very limited in most areas. And yes, I know this from experience.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
The 3G data chip doesn't use the SIM card though, it's activated separately through the phone. A Xoom without that 3G activation won't be able to use the 3G network even if you put an active 4G SIM card in it.
Also, there are people here saying the 4G SIM is more than just data on a phone. That is not true. Current Verizon devices use 3G for voice, and 4G for data.
Why do people not get that? I have unlimited on my TB too ya know! If I pull the sim I still have unlimited 3g, put the sim in my xoom I have 1gb 3g and unlimited 4g. Now unless mister know it all has figured out how to shut the cdma side of the xoom down, we can't do it without getting caught! Tell me you have plz! Yes my meds have made me moody! And yes I am arguing! But at the same time, I love a good argument. If I'm wrong I will admit it too!

Actually if you pull the sim out of your Tbolt you cant do anything but make emergency calls
Damn!!! See I was wrong on that one.

hammer4203,
Just to clarify some things to help your understanding...
I have the TB, Bionic, and Xoom.
When I first got the TB, I went from my Incredible to the TB by using the "activate phone" option on the Verizon My Account web site. It did ask for the SIM and IMEI of the TB, then I had to power the phone on and all was good. Verizon's web site saw my phone as the TB.
When I got the Bionic, activation was as easy as... power off both phones, take the SIM out of the TB, put it in the Bionic, and power the Bionic on. After that, VZW's web page automatically recognized my phone as the Bionic now (without my doing anything but moving the SIM). Switching back to the TB is just as easy... and I can switch between the 4G/LTE phones at will, just by powering off and moving the SIM.
The TB or the Bionic will NOT work for anything but emergency calls with the SIM removed. i.e. 1x, evdo, 3G, 4G do not work without SIM.
My Xoom just got back from its 4g update, and I haven't tried using the SIM from my 4G phones in the XOOM yet. But I'd be willing to guess that if the data plan is "compatible" between the phones and xoom, it will work just fine.
anyone with the 4g LTE experiencing this error?
yesterday (December 6) my Xoom mysteriously gave this error while doing absolutely nothing on my desk. I rebooted it twice and wipe clean LTE sim card and reinserted it. at first i couldn't get any connectivity to verizon services the whole day. but this morning i saw the 3g service come back online, but still i'm getting the 4G LTE sim card error.
i tried to google search this problem and only found one post that coincided with my time frame. is there something wrong with my xoom or is this verizon fault?
Noticed the same popup this morning, rebooted and it went away and came back...
Haven't messed with it yet. Good to know I'm not alone.
Also having the same issues with my Xoom. Didn't have any connection at all yesterday but this morning 3G is working. We'll see if they can fix this.
Its an issue with the 4g outage some sim card's data was erased just get a new 4g one and it fixes it did it yesterday and now it works fine
it should be free as well from Verizon mine was at least

Just got off of the phone with Verizon and they said that there is a 4G outage and that they're working on it.
That happened to me this morning but was fine after a reboot. The possibility of this thing screwing up even more makes me want to demand that Verizon let me out of this contract as I've had nothing but crap from them and Motorola for 7 of the last 9 months.

I am at work now which only has 3G coverage and it seems to be working OK. Just have the annoying message. When I get home (which has 4G coverage) we'll see whether 3G still works.
Ha!! This just happened to me a few minutes ago. I got the Sim Card Authorization Error & my phone has been freaking out for the last hour or so. Having flashed a new 4G ROM this was waaay to coincidental for me. Glad (bad word choice) to see other people are having the same issue too.
It's Verizon's network.
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/12/07/verizon-suffering-4g-lte-outage/
Having the problem too and I'm completely stock.
Same problem here and also stock.
Back home (N central NJ) in the 4G coverage area, my Xoom is bouncing between "No Internet Connection" and "Verizon Wireless 3G". It doesn't stay connected to 3G long enough to be useable. Stock 3G Xoom, upgraded by Motorola to 4G and running the recent 3.2.4 update.
Earlier at work (NW NJ) in the 3G coverage area, things were stable.
Not seeing the SIM card message any more though.
Same here. Just got the sim card authorization error. Glad I'm not the only one.

It's a network issue with Verizon. My XOOM is giving me the same error. When I called tech support today they couldn't tell me when it would be resolved, but apparently it's affecting almost all 4G phones and tablets in the northeast area. Hopefully it will be resolved tomorrow.
My 4g is working normally now without any reboot of any sort. Guess Verizon fixed it

Ever since I took OTA update I cannot get the LTE to stay locked on it keeps going back to 3g. My wife has the same phone and hers stays in LTE. So I know it isn't the towers. She took the OTA update also. The only difference is mine is rooted on the new KK. Anyone else have that problem? Sorry I'm on Verizon Network VS980 4gG LTE
Well I downgraded back to Jelly Bean VS98012B and stayed stock without root and still have the same problem with LTE. I switched Airplane mode off and then back on and I get LTE with 2 bars then it goes back to 3g with 2 bars. I wonder if its the phone or if I am being throttled by Verizon?
Well I seem to be answering my own questions. Turns out my sim card is bad. I tried my wife's and the phone went to LTE and stayed. I put mine in her phone and it stayed 3g. So hope this helps anyone else that would experience this. Glad its not the phone.

I'm actually having the same thing... keeps switching to 3G randomly, after a reboot it'll go to 4G LTE and usually stay, but often if I make a call, or do something it'll switch back to 3G for some time, then maybe go back to 4G... stock KK rooted here too
Did the SIM card fix it for you permanently? I may try getting a new one if so.
I'll second this. Had the same problem. New sim card and bam, fixed. For some reason I think going to international ROMs (cloudy and optimus) caused this.... The 3g roaming thing.. which is a shame because their ROMs are freaking awesome.

Yeah I went to my local mom & pop Verizon store and the idiot behind the counter said my old LTE sim card wasn't NFC ( Near Field Communications) complaint. Why is he an idiot that's another story. But I don't know how NFC has anything to do with the sim card. Anyway I bought a new one because they weren't a official Verizon store, supposedly the official store will give you a new sim card. But now the phone works like it is suppose too.
