Like most GPS systems out there, I would love to be able to turn the map automatically so it faces the same direction I am driving, not just always north. Possible?
Nobody? Please...

Im not sure if its limitation of google maps on android or samsungs. It has all the hardware for it, so should be possible...
It does doesn't it? You changed the view mode? Press the icon in the bottom left of your screen....

the build in google map is just like your web browser google map, it is static
if you want a navigation style / step by step
you will need to get CoPilot8 software for android
Install the google maps navigation beta if its not already in your phone. I thought it was on the galaxy by default. That will give u the sat nav view.

Well if you are using it for driving purposes why not use the navigation addon? Otherwise you've had it I think.

Well in that case I think the simple google maps app with the arrow showing which way you're going would be fine.
But yea, if you're driving you might have to invest in a real gps solution like AllGamer suggested.
when i'm walking, i use the regular google map, it is sooooooooooo much faster than a full fledge GPS software suit to load and link up with Satellites.
Anyone know of a good GPS Application for a car with turn by turn navigation?

copilot live8 or Navigon are both good offline programs...

Have to disagree
Co-pilot is far better, have used both
Co-pilot maps are more up to date as N-drive uses the same maps as tom tom.
I used to use my tomtom when i travel to spain but now i use co-pilot because of the newer maps.
i also would agree with co pilot live, as it cost me about £23 on winmo, and then i just used the key when i get android, and it still works! Value for money there! Unlike tomtom on winmo, i really did prefer copilot.
Since having it on android i even subscribed to the premiu, features, but there isnt any need you get all the speed cameras for free anyway! just make sure you switch them on..
If i dont have the car, and i am walking around london city i will used google maps with the navigation option for walking.
depends what the specifics are havent used N-drive and i dont have a need to now.
Check Navdroyd, it uses Open Street Map as the map source. Works really well.

Not if you have a sat nav app with preloaded maps...
This GPS talk is one of the reasons I went with the 3G/4G version. It is nice to be able to get mapping, restaurant locations, gas stations, hospitals, and all the other on the fly data. Not to say you can't download a map its just nice not having too. Its just at your finger tips. None of this has anything to do with the OP question so sorry OP..
any good ones to recommend? i cant find any maybe im using wrong keywords or im just bad at searching.......
You can pre-cache maps in Google Maps. Just make your route while you are connected to wifi and it will save it. It stays in the cache for a long time as far as i can tell.

I use google nav on xoom....which I find to be much better than using tomtom on my iphone...although tomtom was more customisable and worked seamlessly with any music app which is the only thing I miss.....but here is a site i found helpful....breaks down all your options with pros and cons....I'm guessing tomtom/I go/garmin don't want to fuss with making an overpriced turn by turn navigation app for us android users when we get a pretty damb good one for free....

thats because of CDMA limitations. GSM networks do data+voice simultaneously.
Wifi From Wife's Phone
@wildfan2k
Make sure your wife's phone supports infrastructure mode or is a Droid. Xoom does not like to tether with most Rooted Wifi options. Droid on the other hand can offer bluetooth tethering that Xoom does recognize.

Yeah happened to me as well.
I hate the new market. Not only are the animations unnecessary and annoying, but all of the sudden I don't have access to QuickPic OR the ACS Updater app! It's ridiculous! EG22, EC05, and CM7. ACCESS DENIIIIIED.
Earlier today I updated an app in the old market, then driving on the way home I got the new one. It's pretty cool, and much faster, but so far I got 2 gripes:
1) my text reviews are either hidden or vanished; only the star rating shows. ETA: n/m, if you tap the star rating you see what you said. Better that way, actually. Good job big G.
2) there should be an option to sort My Apps by something other than A-Z order. The old market had them with the latest updated at the top; makes more sense.
I hope apps don't disappear on me anymore and if they do that the old cache/data clearing trick will fix it.
ETA: to get the super rad new more 3D shaded icon on your homescreens you may need to trash the old and bring it out from the app drawer or Touchwiz or whatnot. Least I did. ;-)
Can you guys search the market from home? (Hitting the search key then selecting market at top right?) I hate how the self install one you couldnt

Likewise. I'm surprised if that feature was ever possible actually.
You need to approve permissions every single time now, even if they haven't changed (kinda paranoid on G's part if you ask me, and annoying). And you have to expand them sometimes to see all of them too. Downloader beware.
Oh, and with the update notify option now seemingly gone, does it just not let you know (my preference) or is it forced? 2 app updates since the new Market hit and no notification in the bar either time for me.

From the homescreen hit the search soft key on the phone, and it'll come up with google search and at the top left corner press that and select the market. Then type in an app name or anything and it should search the market for it. On previous markets it worked for me

Couple things I really don't like, and I had the manual install for a while as well. I would much rather a list of catagories than a cluttered mess like it is now. I'm sure I'll get used to it, but just, bleh. Also I hate that when you hit the menu key the search option no longer pops up like it used to. So now I have to use the phone search magnifying glass thing. Time to relearn I suppose.
Went to delete a topic I just made of the ota and it was already gone lol.
Ah well less work I gotta do. Yah, I received mine this morning.

I've gotten notifications in the last 24 hours using the newest market. What bugs me (and this was the case on the old version too) is all the notifications for apps I got free from amazon. Amazon doesn't update their apps nearly as fast as the market does so these apps keep showing up.

You can select what locations the home searches in, at least in Gingerbread.
Open search from the home page (hit the magnifying glass button), Press the icon on the upper left (for me its the google icon), on the window that opens press the gear on the upper right. That opens a page that allows you to choose the items that are searchable in the search function. For me, Apps is the second item on the list.
Soundhound claims there's an update today, but when I click on it I see nothing but Open and Uninstall. Annoying. Whassupwitdat? Maybe time to clear Market cache & data after all.

Yes the new market is good for that. I don't like that and I don't like games being mixed in with the apps. That's annoying.

Check to make sure your DirecTV box isn't set up to use RF instead of IR.

No, the version on the play store was NOT for the s4. It wasn't compatible ( not sure about now, however, i said that a while back and things could have changed by now. ). The version that was already on the phone worked fine as i said already as well. ( where i admitted to being blind and not seeing it already loaded on the phone )

I later realized that the app just doesn't have the alternate Directv remote code sets that you use if you have more than one box in the same location. Hopefully, they can add those.
