Hello everyone,
I just bought an HTC Aria and immediately installed attn1's ROM. My problem is I lose data connectivity even with full signal; I reset the connection in any way (reboot, cycle through airplane mode, change from GSM to other mode and back) and it will be restored for some time and then be lost again.
I could really, really use some help with this, as I have looked in tons of places before posting here.
Thanks in advance.
After trying everything I called my provider and opened a case. Four hours after this the service estarted working perfectly, though they claim they did nothing.
It was probably that you just needed the correct APN settings. It varies from carrier to carrier, and the ROM's default is set for US locale, (AT&T).

I have used my x1 for four months in America with T-mobile. The phone had no problem until yesterday. However, yesterday, the phone began to lose signal and automatically rebooted several times. Then, finally, from the afternoon, the phone totally lost the signal, and kept looking the signal.
I took out my sim card and plugged into another cell phone and it worked. So, I thought it was the problem of the rom. (I was using Touch-IT 4.5) I downloaded the new version of the rom, Touch-IT 5.6, then flashed it. However, it did not solve the problem. So, I flashed with the original SE rom. However, the phone didn't work either.
I contacted T-mobile, and there was not problem on the signal on my region. I thought it might the problem of data plan since I do not use data plan. So I used Advanced config and killed every option for data plan. However, it still does not work. I tried to do settings manually. changing band, carrier, and every possible options, but it does not work.
Interestingly, the phone worked two times today for a short amount of the time. However, after the reset, it is gone. Other than phone function, I do not see any problem.
Even now the phone keeps searching the signal. What can I do? I read another article that is similar to my case, and they say even after changing the sim card, it does not work.
Anyone has the same issue? What can I do? My phone is dead for two days, and it messes up so many things. Please somebody help me.
Have you tried redoing the connection setup?
try clicking on signal antenna then enter settings click on network and manual select your network, will take a few mins to find networks if it connects manualy just select auto again and hopefully it will fix it., worked with mine.
Thank you guys
Thank you guys. Yes, I have tried both of them, but it still does not work.
In Connection setup, I chose United States and T-mobile, and the screen to choose between T-mobile and At&t. I select T-mobile, and click Register. Then, it goes to the searching mode again, and nothing happens.
I assume that somehow, the phone finds networks, since it does show the options to choose (T-mobile, At&t). But something is not right, and it messes the set up. I do not know why.
Hey guys, I'm desperately looking for some assistance with my issue of not having any data upload/download working on my G2. I've been using CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable without any issues, tried CM 7 Nightlies a few times, but have reverted back to CM 6.1.1 Stable. I've gone back and forth a couple times, all of which a complete wipe of the phone with nandroid restores.
For whatever reason, my phone shows 3G/H switch back & forth at random intervals, appearing as if it's doing something in a good way, but yet I am unable to do anything involving data communication (e.g. email, web browsing, Market, texting, etc). When I received the phone I continued using the old SIM card that worked fine in my MyTouch3G and now-returned MyTouch4G. It's been working flawlessly in here, but I had noticed something odd. I decided to give the Wi-Fi Calling app a try, as I wanted to make sure that I could at the very least still make/receive phone calls. When I turned that on, it informed me that I had an "invalid SIM card." Then I thought, perhaps the SIM card had become dislodged, so I removed it & inserted it back into the phone. Powered it on, and I was able to get a couple emails download and a text as well, but then it stopped again.
After doing some searching online, I learned other people have had data/voice issues when using old SIM cards, so I decided to use the brand new SIM card that shipped with my G2. Of course that meant I had to call T-Mobile customer support for them to activate the phone, and they did that for me. My data is still not working for me, so I don't know what else to try. She informed me there was a data outage in three cities north of me (maybe 20-40 miles away), but no cities in my area (Aurora, IL, about 45 miles west of Chicago). I also tried flashing CM 6.1.1 Stable from scratch (clean install), and that didn't make anything better.
I went the extra mile to truly rule out if there's an issue with my G2 (i.e. broken radio), by doing some additional testing. I inserted the SIM card in my old MyTouch3G, booted it up (which BTW still works like a champ), saw the same 3G/H in the notification bar, but still could NOT access anything that requires a data connection (e.g. email, web browsing, Market, texting, etc). This leads me to believe that there could be a data outage in my area, but damn it's been ALL FREAKIN' DAY man!
So what can I do to fix this? Any ides and/or suggestions? I am desperate to get this working, so if anyone can provide some assistance I would greatly appreciate it. THANK YOU!
Here are all the specs of my phone:
- S-OFF
- CyanogenMod 6.1.1 Stable with Pershoot's kernel
- radio is 26.03.02.26_M
UPDATE: My data connection seems to be working again, so I'm guessing it was a major outage for T-Mobile which lasted all day.
My data is down right now too. In my new orleans. It just happened around 4 pm.

This may sound simple but when I was jumping between ROM's I found that my mobile data toggle had turned off in the CyanogenMod settings.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I did try that already. Also did the trick (which I forgot to mention) about trying to swap out APNs (wap.voicestream.com / epc.tmobile.com), and that didn't work.

I received my current device (HTC Magic) a while back ago when visiting my girlfriend in the state beside me, minutes after, I went to T-Mobile and had my phone activated on an unlimited pre-paid plan. Everything worked fine. Then I drove home to where I would be in roaming coverage. Even while roaming, data and everything worked well. Then I went into the "hacking" and rooting of the phone. First had a few difficulties, and couldn't get things right. Now I'm in sync with my device and can breeze through everything (Flashing ROMs, etc. etc.) But now my data doesn't work. I've called Customer Care numerous times, and have had different results with each call. Some reps told me that I shouldn't be able to use data while roaming. Although before I went into the rooting and flashing, I didn't have any issues with it. Sitting in the same spot in my house when previously using data. Some reps, had me go through the common steps (Clearing cache, browsing history, resets, etc etc.) to no avail. My edge symbol blinks with traffic as well, but doesn't allow the use of data.
Note: I do have the data roaming options checked in the "Wireless & Network" settings menu
So now you know the story.
The Question: is there any reason that the data shouldn't be working, as far as a development viewpoint? I am currently running the CyanogenMod 7.1.0-RC1 port for the HTC Dream/Sapphire. With ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.7
My device specifics are
"Sapphire PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G"
"HBOOT-1.33.0013"
"CPLD-10"
"Radio-2.22.28.25"
I'm probably done dealing with T-Mobile, and if this issue doesn't get resolved, I will unlock my phone, and use it with a different provider (Hopefully I don't have to resort to AT&T). Or I will just sell it and move to a new device/carrier. Any help / suggestions / input would be acknowledged and highly appreciated. Thanks.
Make sure you have correct apn settings. Thats the only thing I can think of...
I'm pretty sure I have the correct APN. Although I've seen a couple of different ones for T-Mobile? I wouldn't need to have AT&T's APN in that list would I?
Hello, first to say, im not a newb, noob, newly registered, or a guy who dont understand anything from android.
Im not posting stupid topics, or topics which answers can be found easily on internet/google/xda/forums and such.
I am running stock rom, only rooted (i used to root it only to apply some xposed settings and clear some unnessesary apps, nothing more, nothing less).
Here is the description:
My phone has no warranty, i bought it online, brand new from UK, simfree. At that point, i had no problems with the connection. i received OTA Update - about 50-60 mb, but the phone remain 4.2.2 as it was. I still had no problems with the connection. After some time, the phone was left alone inhome for a few days, may be a week, it was turned off and it was not used at all. When i got back, i inserted my sim card, and i saw it is showing only G icon, and no 3g/h/h+, nor even 2g. I live in big city with very good network coverage, so its not network problem. I dialed up the customer service (Globul Telenor Bulgaria) , explained them my problem and asked them to check if its operator's problem or sim card problem, but it is not. The sim is fine, so is the network coverage. I dont have other operator's sim card to check the phone. I tryed several possible solutions found in google/xda - turned off the phone, removed sim and battery and left that way for few hours, still have the problem, tryed to switch operators manually and register sim card to other operator then back to mine, not working. Several times reseting/ deleting APNs, switching airplane mode, data off/on, adding apns/searching for networks and all available combos, not working asked Globul Customer support to send me new settings- not working. The only obvious thing i havent tryed is the factory reset (I still need to do a backup first and dont have time to do it right now.)
In Settings- More networks - Mobile networks- Network mode i have 2 options - 2g/3g auto connect and 3g Only. When I choose only 3g - i lose any signal, like there is no sim card. Reverting back to auto 2g/3g is registering my sim back to Globul network.
Then i decided to root my phone if i can find a fix for the connection. Rooted with CF-Auto-Root thru Odin. (The 30sec Root)
Looked for some tweaks in xposed modules and settings, i couldnt find anything related to 3g. Still looking for a solution...
I repeat - my phone was completely stock and non-rooted when the problem occurs! Now is rooted with stock rom. (this is the diffirent from every topic i searched.)
Im attaching some screenshots, if someone can help me. 2g is really annoying and slow as hell.
Well the first thing I would do is update your phone. You are running 4.2.2 which is old. Update to the latest version, that could either be a stock rom or a custom rom.
After that do a factory reset. Make sure you backup your internal storage etc, because it will wipe it clean.
Factory reset, updated to 4,3, after that 4.4.2 problem still persists.
No 3g at all. Its not the sim. Any way to fix it ?
Soo no way to fix it? Should i give it for repair?

Hi All,
Please help. I'm a rookie at rooting and have an unlocked Japanese Note 3 through AU (my Japanese service provider). I was in a rush and paid someone to unlock it before heading back to the States last year. The phone works with my AT&T sim card but when I am back in Japan (with Japanese sim) I am constantly being dropped from the network. 4G service usually works for internet, etc, but I cannot make/receive phone calls and only occasionally can send/receive text messages. I need to know if I should re-root the phone (and leave it rooted) or just do a factory reset (or perhaps change some other setting to get things working again)? The problem with a factory reset is that it will probably re-lock the phone and I don't have a code.
Strange Detail:
Whenever I try to dial a number, the name of a Chinese Province shows up under the Contact's Name. This suggested to me some network issue where the phone somehow thinks it's in China (though texts still kinda work...) and doesn't connect correctly to the Japanese network.
Details:
Model: sm-N900J (per the download screen) i believe this means it has a SnapDragon Processor
Knox warranty has been tripped (apparently by the guy I paid to unlock it originally - is that bad?)
Android 4.3 (looks like I'm still in the original version of Jellybean. Should I upgrade to Kitkat or Lollipop?)
Other Issues:
As of two days ago, the phone now restarts after about 5 minutes of use. Like many Note 3 phones, it's always done the occasional random restart (another reason to root?) but now it's making the phone almost unusable. Also, since having the phone rooted/unlocked/re-rooted I always get a series of warnings upon start-up. Typically, standard Samsung apps like S Planner, Calendar Storage, Keyguard and Index Service have stopped. I have never been able to use the Calendar (or other basic apps) since it always crashes. Is this an issue with Knox clashing with something from the original root (I still see SuperSU loaded -but "turned off"- in the apps menu)?
Idealy...
...someone can help me decide the best course of action (Root, Reset, Other), and how to make sure I can connect back up to my Japanese network properly. I think I'd prefer to root since what I want is an unlocked phone that works smoothly, with good battery life, little to no bloatware, a custom theme and a working S pen. If I root, what's the best method (already have SuperSU apparently) and which ROM and version of Android would be the most stable?
Main Issues Recap:
No connection to phone network (or limited 4G internet).
Phone restarts every few minutes.
Many Apps crash upon Start-up.
Thanks in advance!
So, here's an update that someone with a similar problem might find useful...
Japan uses CDMA for voice and GSM for LTE Data. Somehow (probably through using my phone in the states on a GSM network) the phone was no longer connecting to the CDMA network. Since I'd gotten no responses and felt like there was a good chance that a factory reset would not reverse the sim-unlock I'd stupidly paid to have done, I did a factory reset. Despite appearing to have solved my Index Service, Calendar Storage, S Planner crashing issues, I was still having the exact same problem of LTE working but no CDMA network.
Somehow I stumbled on to this website...(well, I'm unable to post as a new user but searching for "How To Fix Samsung Galaxy error while searching for network" should bring it up).
There, I found some really odd directions that solve network error issues. The only part of the instructions I was really able to carry out was take out the battery and simultaneously press the home and power buttons 10 times. I restarted my phone and miraculously was able to place a call for the first time in a year in Japan!
But then I no longer had any data. I figured it had to do with the APN settings being wiped in the strange reset I just tried. But when I went into Settings>More Networks>Mobile Networks there was no longer an Access Point Names option in the menu. There is no longer a "Network Mode" option either. I used to have that set to LTE/WCDMA/GSM but now I only see a System Select option that simply lets me change my CDMA roaming mode from Automatic to Home Only.
I tried searching everywhere for the missing Access Point Names menu to no avail (and almost attempted to try flashing CyanogenMod for the time hoping this would bring back the APN settings menu) but then I realized that I could do a search in the settings app. I searched APN and the option came right up (though it's frustrating that this now appears to be hidden). Using the following settings (copied below) from the AU by KDDI website I created a new APN profile. Now mobile date appears to be working just fine too!
So, now I just need to decide if I want to keep running Touchwiz in Jellybean or use my new found confidence to try rooting and custom roms...
I'm also kind of curious to see that the next phone bill comes in as expected and I'm not being charged for a bunch of crazy usage! Also, any suggestions to help explain how I got into this problem in the first place, or how to clean up any loose ends would be appreciated.
