Why wouldn't you ask this in a more general section? Asking what people in a vibrant subforum think is probably going to get you the answer of Vibrant.
That's my suggestion.

If you like a physical key board get the G2 . If you don't like physical key boards get the Vibrant . HSPA+ would be another thing I would factor in which the G2 supports , but only matters if you are in a area near an HSPA+ tower .

There are animated weather on the vibrant.
Try beautiful widget, the eugenes roms have fancy widget, look on the market for more options

I'd hold off on either for now. Both are powerhouse phones, but both have been experiencing many issues that make me second guess my decision for a vibrant and my thoughts about getting a g2.
The issues with the vibrant are obvious... Gps, battery life, screen burn in, lag, support, etc.. The g2's are just starting to be revealed. Lack of memory, minor hinge issue, speaker phone quality, and lack of ability to permanently root currently.
Just remember though...there are worse phones out there, and neither are a horrible choice.
If you can, hold off a month. Watch the forums for updates on fixes for either. If none of these have been resolved by then, go for whatever new phone is being released, which may be the mytouch hd.

Lost G1

Hello, i dont know where to put this thread so i just put it in the general thread.
But i lost my G1 and im not sure what android device to choose next.
requirements is that is must have a physical keyboard.
anything else is game.
i was thinking about the g2/g3. is it the same to root it and etc?
any other suggestions?
I will buy G6 if I were you, the difference between the price of G3 and G6 is not much. But it doesn't have Physical keyboard...? Consider Mytouch 3G Slide if you want one with physical key.

are you trying to be smartass? ive never heard of a g6 let alone g3, there is however a g2.
and for the op the mytouch 3g slide is probably the best physical keyboard android right now or a droid (best phone but not best keyboard).
Or you can wait and see if the rumored htc vision is announced and released anytime soon.

No there isn't, and there isn't even an g1 for that matter. The phone is called the "DREAM".

It's funny how you can call Tmobile, ask questions about the G1 and they'll know exactly what you're referencing.
For that matter, "isn't even an g1" is grammatically incorrect. Just thought i'd put you in check.
Have a nice day.

Based on your reply, i'm trying to figure out, why is it the bootloader on the "DREAM" says.... "TMobile G1" in big ass letters...
alright, well i have some questions about the mytouch slide, can i root it for custom roms?
is it more responsive than the g1
and another question, is it essentially the same thing as the mytouch just with a qwerty keyboard?
peas and tanks
ohyeah, and if there is any other recommendations for android device, give them to me, as of now a physical keyboard isnt necessary
zachary: root hasnt yet been done on the MTS, but its being actively worked on by several developers. it does have a hardware keyboard, a slightly faster processor and much more memory.
however, if you can live for a bit without a phone, rumor has it that TMO is going to be anouncing the Galaxy S on the 19th.
I heard the next google phone will have a keyboard. But who knows when that will happen..

i was thinking about the mytouch3g slide, and i looked around in the forums, and it looks like there IS root access, but one of my main concerns, is the phones speed, one thing i hated about my g1 was the lag. i always had lag, has anyone expierenced this with the slide?
EDIT: also, if someone could tell me how to ordering of the nexus one works, in laymen's terms, it all seems a bit confusing, and tmobile isnt selling it apparently
I've been told many times that the myTouch slide runs just as fast as the Nexus. And yes, it is rootable.
Edit: And lag is all in how you use your phone. It may lag for you, but not me. That just all depends.

Stay FAR away from Vibrant/Captivate or any other Galaxy S variant

For those thinking about getting the Vibrant/Captivate or pretty much any variant of the Galaxy S DO NOT.
I contacted them via FB and this is the only answer they sent me
"We are working on it. We're sorry about this issue. Please be patient as we know how important this is. Thanks for reaching out!"
I have just received and activated my phone with dum, dum, dum... AT&T and this phone has nothing but GPS issues while I have to admit everything else works fine and is definitely fast.
There is absolutely no way of it accurately doing a turn by turn Navigation with Google Maps.
Ive even resorted to doing a supposed fix and nothing if anything it made the major problem worse.
Same has been reported with the T-Mobile version of the phone.
I highly regret leaving T-Mobile now because the reception was a lot better with them as well.
No wonder tons of people bad mouth AT&T, LOL.
Proof below, stick to the other manufacturers guys... Samsung is testing the waters and these phones should have NEVER been released prior to having it 100% functional.

Why didnt you wait for g2?
Hey OP!
Have you EVER tried the Vibrant or Captivate? I have the Vibrant and I have had no problems with the GPS. I use the turn by turn directions daily!
You need to know what you are talking about! Yes, there is a documented problem, but that doesn't mean that the GPS is unusable, and NO I haven't applied the GPS fix.

Ive bought Samsung phone before and I haven't ran into any major issues like this.
The G2 would definitely be a better option.
Thinking Im going to jump to the Sony X10, I hear that they are going to have the CyanogenMod on it pretty soon.

You're trying to come at me like everyone is going to have a working unit Barnes.
Just because YOU got lucky doesn't mean anyone else that buys it will.
There is already a "fix" in the works for units that have faulty GPS but whether it works or if its actually able to fix the issue is another story.
Read this and please don't post again if YOU don't know what you are talking about.

Maybe you are also confused, bring up an address and press the option that says navigation.
See that big blue area around your position THAT is not true GPS and it is only guessing where you are from cell towers.
Like others have said it will not accurately tell you where you are, you can not trust the voice directions at all.
That is faulty and yes Samsung, AT&T, T-Mobile and any other service provider should not be selling these units until it is fixed.

That Little blue arrow that tells me EXACTLY where I am on the map as I'm zooming down the freeway and accurately tells me every exit as I'm passing them? I know what I am talking about! And the turn by turn instructions work for me and it re-routes when I miss a street.
OK!!!! You all! You know EVERYTHING and I know NOTHING!
That is all! Sorry for putting in my 2 cents!
By the way, I've been on Android since the G1 in November of 2008. Rooted with the first Jesus Freke roms thru Haykuru and Dudes roms to Cyan and have been doing the same with my Vibrant.
But OK. You guys are THE EXPERTS.
And by the way, you guys never stated whether or not you own a Vibrant.

buy whatever you want
ive gone thru so many phones since 09, from the g1(when it first came out), hd2, n900, x10 and finally the vibrant. the hd2, n900 and x10 in a matter of 4 months. didnt like windows mobile from being used to android. n900 wasnt what i expected it to be. loved the x10 but only running 1.6. i didnt root it because I eventually bought the vibrant.
only issues i had were facebook syncing and contacts being tripled and gps in searching for a location while in house, but GPS worked FINE when I was on the road. wish i had a car dock for it at the time but will eventually get one.
OP, if you knew of these reasons, such as lag or because of the gps not working properly, then why did you buy it in the first place? i dont think barnes was getting at you, but damn dude, someone's sensitive. no one told you to buy it despite some of the imperfections the phone has. its like people saying sony shouldnt have released the x10 with 1.6 but rather have froyo but they still buy it. and if your response is to root it to get 2.1 or 2.2, i dont think the avg. customer for phones would have any idea of what you are talking about.
you cant please everyone on here. alot of people on xda either want to be a mod or just bump stupid posts because they didnt get an answer within 3 hours.
Returned my Samsung Captivate and is officially back to the HTC Dream/G1 until further notice.
Feeling better already, I can always get that phone when and if the GPS issue is worked out.
That was pretty much the only flaw it has at least on the phone I returned.

In that respect I did mess up.
Was expecting the Captivate to rock my socks off but all it did was make me mad due to the GPS issue.
I didn't know of these problems until after my phone arrived.
Its stupid for Samsung to not get those fixes out asap as that is their flagship phone.
I heard the X10 is very close to getting Cyanogen on there.. definitely a major advantage there vs. the Samsung development that's going on
if cyanogen is working on the x10, then the x10 will have alot of potential.
did you switch back to tmobile since you're back to using the g1?
btw, how often were you using the gps on the road? give the vibrant a chance, im sure the kinks will be worked out.

The X10 does seem like a better choice for now mainly in part to the CyanogenMod potential.
Im still on AT&T, Ive closed my account with T-Mobile.
I was using the gps on a regular basis thats why it had to be refunded as a replacement was more than likely to have the same issue.
Samsung has always had a bad track record with updating thier phones and I didnt want to be stuck waiting for an update that may take too long to be relevant.
I've just gotta jump in with my $.02 right quick here...
Not trying to piss anyone off, but damn you all cry too much! IT's A PHONE!
And on top of all that, it has an Operating System on it! So essentially, it's a COMPUTER! And what do computers have????? ISSUES!
So, quit *****ing. Flagship phone or not...It's going to have issues. It's a new device. Duh. haha
Basically, when it comes down to it, if a device were PERFECT in every standard, then EVERYONE would have one. And sense there is no such thing as PERFECT, good luck.

legend, so you're using the g1 on at&t's network?
the captivate is using bing, correct? there's no google maps on there? maybe that was the problem.
i guess im fortunate to have my gps on point when i'm driving, but once i eventually root, etc, then maybe the gps will lock in almost my exact point, and not off 1 or 2 blocks.

AT&T network, Yes I am.
The captivate is using Google Maps but has the option in using AT&T's version of it and they both were not working.
I tested how many GPS satellites it picked up through the LBSTestMode menu and it got me no where even if there were 1 or 7 available.
Once rooted it was the same story unfortunately even with all these workarounds on xda and other sites.
Further proof that the Samsung GPS issues continue....

Hi, Im prob finally gonna upgrade my G1. =)

Well finally! G2 looks like a replacement for my 2 yr old G1 (Which is still running like a champ!) Tho I see the issues on G2 rooting. I was wondering Im 60% ready to order it today and pay 300$ to tmo. I mean rooted G1 is great.. but reasons I did that was for faster speed and apps on SD.. which the G2 does, The only final part was maybe firewalls, blockers and wifi tether which was only via root.
Thoughts from others? I know one day G2 will be rooted fine. But otherwise, anyone else have thoughts from G1 to G2? =)
You saying its a good idea to upgrade to the G2 is like saying..."Is it a good idea to upgrade my fat girlfriend for Megan Fox"?
DUH

Not really, those who use a G1 rooted, what are you MISSING in your G2? Im trying to debate do I give in and buy it NOW or wait. I got a itchy trigger finger... I upgraded once and got the HD2 (Which I put on ATT after I unlocked and got energy on it) but I never replaced my G1 which stays on my tmo account. Finally a device I might be able to have MORE fun with. Main thing I want is the wifi tether, tho I guess I could use pdanet and a usb.
What key features would you say scream the most on a G2 that G1 doesnt do? Hows emulators working on it?
I also came from a g1. I was running cm 6.0 so things felt quite similar really as far as UI except at blazing speeds. I do miss all the tweaks that came with custom ROMs however.
The physical phone is taking a little getting used to simply because I have used the same phone for 2 years. Won't take long though. For me, everything is an improvement for the most part.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I've been using the g1 as my primary/only phone for two years. The only thing that I miss from my G1 is the ability to IPSec VPN into Cisco devices. The wifi tether was nice but I only used that once or twice a year. The fact that the led only lights up to indicate that the phone is charging. It would be nice if it was a multi-color led like on the G1 and could be used for notifications or if the trackpad was multi-color. I wish I could unlock the phone with on of the bottom front keys or the trackpad. Really, all of those are minor except for the VPN, and that wasn't a big enough deal to keep me away from the G2.
The G2 is so superior to the G1 that I can't imagine staying with the G1. I was running Cyanogen 5.0.8 when I switched.
Well so far sounds like HTC made a nice phone that doesnt need a custom rom to make it super sexy awesome. =) That is very good...
Anyone try SNES or NES on it? Im wondering if the games are better. =) (Did they put the 3d app like need for speed up there?)
Anything new the G2 can do that the G1 couldnt or that it can perform better? (Im now at 75% at the point where Ill say screw giftmas and just pay 300$ on my Nov 28th bill lol)
Im using Enoms 1.6 on the G1 btw. (Stick with what works hehe)
I miss the full customization of theming my phone. That will come with root. Other than that, the G2 was a great upgrade from G1. One feature I absolutely love... While talking on the phone on the G1, you would have to double tap or press menu and unlock to access the key pad. With the light sensor on the G2, it pops up automatically as soon as you take the phone away from your ear.
Well thats good, =)
Durability wise, Is this slide design durable you think? Also from when I held it, doesnt seem as cheap or flimsy as the mytouch slide, which I felt was a JOKE.
Hows the camera compared to a HD2 (If anyone has it) I know my HD2 does some real nice ones. The G1.. always had abit of motion blur cause unless you held it so still.. I didnt like taking pics on it.
Any good games the G2 can do? I know on Verizon they had the NFS game that the Iphone had, which was cool with tilt controls. Would love it if the G2 started doing it. Speaking of that.. Does the G2 have better open gl support?

Does Vibrant have the ramdom shutdown issue like the Captivate

I just give up on my Captivate. . It is suffering from shutdown on standby. I see that a lot of ppl having this as well. However, based on what i see on this forum, I only see ATT Captivate users complaining. I rarely see Tmobile Vibrant users have any similar complain.
I was thinking of moving to Vibrant because It seems more stable than the Captivate. Please, give your input. I dont wanna suffer more. hic hic.
Thank you all very much.

One of my friends has the Captivate and for some reason he suffers from this exact issue. I wasn't aware it was so prevalent.
I've used a Vibrant since July and I've been reading these forums for a long time -- haven't seen any systemic shutdown on standby issues.

yeah. I really like how the captivate looks. I'm not saying that the vibrant is ugly for me but it really looks like an iphone.
*I had similar issues
When I first purchased my T-Mobile Vibrant, I had this problem for the first 3-5 days or so.
However for the past week I haven't had an issue at all.
I'm not sure what the problem was, but I did notice when I made changes to improve the battery (turn off wifi, black background, no background data) the issues stopped.
Maybe try that and see if it helps?

yeah, I agree. I just so into the design of the captivate, but the shutdown issue drive me nut.
So far, the shutdown issue only happen on Captivate model. I think I can go with Vibrant. I'm not techie but anyone can enlighten me the differences between the two.
One more thing is can the vibrant load custom rom as easy as Captivate. I ask this because i see some hardware locks or something with the vibrant been discussing here. I dont own the vibrant so I have no Idea.

For one you can use Vibrant on AT&T 1900MHz UMTS 3G and of course on T-Mo UMTS 1700/2100 MHz freqs, but you cannot use Captivate on T-Mo US 3G network - you will be on EDGE.
The GPS internal software subsystem on the Captivate is different from Vibrant, but it still suffers/suffered from not so optimal GPS performance.
I think these are the two major differences aside from the looks and hardware build.
I am on AT&T and went through 3 captivates in 2 weeks because they all had the shutdown issue. I got fed up and ordered an unlocked vibrant online from buy.com. I have not had one single issue with the phone. No shutdown issues or any other problem for that matter. I do not get quite the 3g signal that I have gotten with previous smart phones which may be because it is only using the one frequency (not trying to speculate, just my guess) or just that AT&T doesn't have the best service to begin with. Either way, I have no complaints and think its a great phone. However, CES is this weekend and they have already shown some of the new phones that will be coming to AT&T so I would go to androidcentral and check out the new stuff so you can make a fully informed decision on what phone to get if you can wait a little.
I get some weird upload mode shutdown with eugenes work. Also panic mode. Think its to do with accessing the ext memory card. Usually happens when playing music.

I got time to spare, i guess i take your advice. Honestly, I have never trust Samsung products. It is just their Captivate design and their screen lead me to doom.

I am surprised that nobody has yet said anything about "Captivate Keep Alive" (obviously, in the Market). I have a Vibrant and do get the random shutdown thing every few days. I will say that this app helps, does not/has not solved it completely. I would say to try it out with a few different thresholds, maybe it will work for you.

The vibrant don't really have the shutdown issues like the captivate.

I have had the Vibrant from the day it was released. I never had a shutdown problem. Although I have had it shutdown once since I installed Nero v3 a few days ago. But it's been stable since then.
But if you are getting a new phone, my advice is look around for alternatives before settling for the Vibrant. It's great hardware (as you are aware from the Captivate), but Samsung's support sucks eggs. This is my last Samsung phone. If you are going to T-Mobile, check out the G2. The hinge is crappy, the display is not as good and the screen size is too small for me. But apart from that, it is how the Vibrant should be running. I found the lower end T-Mobile Optimus surprisingly snappy as well. Both run circles around the Vibrant which is pathetic since the Vibrant has better hardware.
Having said that, Nero v3 is much better than stock Eclair on the Vibrant. But I see stuttering and lag on it as well. But not nearly as much. And the battery life with Nero has been absolutely awesome.

wao. I know Samsung is ..... I never use one but since they have such a great hardware. I decided to go with Samsung Captivate which was a mistake. But I still give samsung a second chance by considering the Vibrant. I love my Captivate so much. It's such a great phone that why I want to replace with the Vibrant. Captivate's sister, I may say. Thank you for your advice though. I dont wanna use any slider or flipper anymore. All of my dumb flip. slide fone all dead due to the flex cable. Thank for your advise. I see that your VIbrant does it job well for you. I guess I will go with it. I'm about 70% sure now. hihih

Didn't I read in Captivate forum that AT&T and Samsung have acknowledged the issues pertaining to a sudden device reboot, non-responsiveness?
There are certain IMEI numbers that are affected, and units shipped recently should not suffer from this issue.

yeah, they have the doc about the issue. The IMEI range bla bla bla. still it not helping, I still hear someone with good IMEI built number ect.. still got dead on sleep. Anyway, I just concern about Vibrant now since Captivate is a time bomb in my opinion.

[Q] questions from a Droid user maybe coming to sprint

I currently have the Original Droid, which has been a great phone in terms of what you have been able to do to it and it's reliability. My question is; how do the owners of the Epic feel about their phone? Still happy with it? Like the roms that have come out for it? And since I haven't paid much attention to Sprint, up until now, any other phones down the line I should think about? My contract with Verizon is up in 3 months.
Yes if you like a hardware keyboard then get the Epic it's a great phone you won't be dissapointed
If you like running the latest and Greatest software then the Nexus S will be out for sprint in like a month.
If you want a powerhouse of a phone then the Evo3D should be out by June following what they did with the original Evo

If you get the epic, make sure you rigorously test the hardware keyboard within the first 30 days so you can return it if you get a phone that's physical keyboard drops keys.

Thanks for the link!
I never buy phones on contract, and swapped from an iPhone to a Moto Droid in May of last year. Loved the Android platform, since I'm a programmer and super-user -- not a dumb user, the way the iPhone continued to fail.
I switched to the Epic 4G around October of that year (bought off-contract as well, ESN was clear, but ended up still being attached to an account... got scammed and ported it to Cricket myself). Love the keyboard. Love the screen. Not a bad phone at all. I wouldn't buy it on contract, though, since the new phones are coming out. But in my mind, the Epic is a definite upgrade from the Droid, albeit still not quite as flexible as the original Droid was in terms of development and ROMs (was on Sapphire with Droid -- tried pretty much all the different ROMs for Epic and they're nice, but not as nice as something mostly AOSP, i.e. CM7 or Sapphire). Waiting patiently for Epic's CM7 to be mostly stable so I can try to ROM with that -- having very high hopes for it.
So in a nutshell, yes, great phone. But, the only issue is that the phone will be outdated rather quick, though I don't think we're going to see another contender with a decent keyboard for a while with dual-core processors, etc (re: I'm guessing a year). No comment on Sprint service, but double check with reviews in your area to see how coverage, etc, is before making the jump.

I would stay away from this phone if I were you. The roms I've tried are all pretty good, but never perfect for me. I can tell you the current stock rom is still sub par. I would get the HTC if I you. I know people on here will tell you it's not a good of a phone, but I can tell you it works a hell of a lot better. If you really want this phone I will trade you mine + I'll give you $100 if you get the evo and trade me. I'm trying to sell mine now! my phones of on really good shape, no damage to it at all. If you're interested or anyone else, pm me! But to be honest this phone is not really worth it.

DON'T LISTEN TO THIS GUY. His intelligence is showing with trying to trade you for a lesser quality phone. The evo shift does not have an amoled screen or the gpu power the epic has. This phone is amazing and will be amazing for atleast 2 years. This phone will hold up to the dual cores of this year hands down. I've been with sprint for 9 years and they keep getting better. Development could be stronger but we have gotten EVERYTHING WE NEEDED FROM OUR DEVS HERE. CM7 is in progress and there is a stable alpha.

It's a great phone now. Got mine for the second time on friday and updated that evening ota. I also have a Evo and Evo shift and had the dual core Atrix(hype at this point imho).
The Epic is my favorite although i do prefer the keyboard on the Evo shift cause its smaller which is odd but rue

Well maybe you like having to spend a million hours to get the phone to work, but for me, not really. It's almost a full time job trying to get this thing to work right! I agree the hardware is great, but not worth the fight to make it work right. I've spent hours flashing this thing since the new update and I will tell you I still have problems with this phone. If you would like me to list all the problems with my phone I would be happy to do so!

YOU have issues, the vast majority of people are capable of flashing a ROM correctly and troubleshooting any problems they might have, don't dissuade someone from purchasing a phone they want because YOU have problems using it correctly.
I really do like my phone and the ROMs are smoke'n.
They have been having a bit of an issue releasing Froyo that doesn't have some level of suckage.
We're expecting a 3rd try this week.
What balances that are the AWESOME devs for it; they popout an updated ROM with the latest update in no time at all.
Everyone is spot on in regards to hardware keyboard, I find myself (I HAD to have a real keyboard) actually using the swype keyboard way more than the physical one. Go figure.
Some GPS issues; though each update makes it a bit better.
There is a reason that this phone is the #1 selling PDA phone.
Having all said that, in a few months there will be some really powerful stuff that will just blow the doors off anything currently available. If I were in your position. I'd go for a multi-processor phone.
Good luck
I say get an evo.
Theres a whole lot more going on with the evo development that its a much more flexible phone.
Our phone has a lot of potential, but with a fracyion of evo/droid devs its harder for the epic to get there.

Check out the hardware keyboard fix from mkasick - it's implemented in SRF 1.1.0 and its accompanying kernel, Twilight Zone 1.1.0. If you don't want to leave your current ROM, give Twilight Zone a try. The fix is an adjustable one - so you can set the value as low as you want. That should completely eliminate any issues you're having.

These forums speak for them selves. You don't see half the problems in the HTC forums. Also if you have BOTH phones you would know how many more problems there are on this phone. I would wait for the nexus s if you want a sammy. I would not choose this phone again if I had it to do over.

I do have both, and have had few issued with either, I made the choice to stick with the Epic as my daily driver because its a much nice phone hardware wise and significantly lighter. I find it difficult to believe you would have any of the issues you're having if you properly flashed it.

I can't even tell you how many times I've flashed this phone trying to get an optimal set up. I have found that over all I've had less problems with the stock rom, but it is still a lot more buggy than the evo. I would just give this phone to my girlfriend and take her evo, but I don't think she would know what to do if the phone went haywire on her. Hers is stock and I've had far less issues with it than this phone. The only times I had any real issues with her evo is when I tried to mess with it. Trust me man, I thought I was the one screwing up this phone, that's why I'm trying out the stock hardware! All I'm saying there are a lot more issues. Trust me I bought this phone for the same reasons as everyone else! I'm just getting sick and tired of having to Odin the damn thing everyone 3 to 4 weeks! I thought a program may have been causing it, so now I'm trying stock ROM EC and I've only rooted it. I've downloaded XDA, Poynt, Blow up, and the Chase apps. These are the only apps I have on here now, so I was hoping that it was maybe an app causing my problems. Today I had my first problem since going to my current set up. I've been talking about it in this forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12464672#post12464672. I'm hoping that it's something that I just needed to reboot my phone. The only other thing I can think that made my phone go black screen is when I use the media player and play videos. I'm hoping it's not one of the apps, but I haven't been able to replicate the problem today. I'm just saying that my girl doesn't have any of these issues with the evo and right now I'm basically on the edge with this phone!!!! I also don't want to shell out a bunch more money for a phone so I just kind of have to deal with it and hope I can find a solution, but I would not recommend this phone to anyone after what I've been through! The Nexus S may be a different story since it's stock, but not this phone!

I'm not gonna say that flashing isn't a complicated thing. But that's your choice and if you really want to experience amazing ui then it takes time of the individual to figure how and what they can and can not do. That's why there is 1 click root. Flashing is not meant for everyone so if you don't have the time that's cool but don't blame the phone for your short comings either in time or intelligence or pesistence.

Trust me I've flashed this phone many times. I'm sorry to tell you that when you flash Roms and kernels there are still going to be some problems. I realise that you may want to flash Roms and kernels to make the phone run a certain way, otherwise there wouldn't be multiple roms or kernels to flash if everything worked perfect with one. You're showing your ignorance if you think that a flashed rom and/or kernel is going to be problem free. There's a reason why there are constant updates to the roms and kernels.
I'm just tired of doing it and you should be able to use the phone, without it crashing, without having to mess with it. I don't think it's too much to ask for the phone to not crash when it's stock. Maybe I need to go to full stock with out root. Maybe that's what's causing the phone to mess up. That's my next option!
Edit: I wish I could see other things you've bought. Just curious what type of repairs you had to do to them...
Not sure why you would expect something to NOT work correctly out of the box? You make a valid point it shouldn't work correctly stock..........

Whatever you do, do NOT get the Epic. Even if it's free. The keyboard TO THIS DAY does not work properly. It still misses keys and it's not layed out all that well either. I came from a g1 that had a keyboard that ACTUALLY registered keys, even if you type faster than my grandma. Please do not get the epic, get the evo shift or wait for something else on Verizon.
