What is the best Youtube video on how to install Android? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Yet another G1 to HD2 convert thanks to HTC Clay!
Im getting a HD2 today or tomorrow and cant wait to run Android on it, but I was wondering what is the best step by step video on how to do it? I know about the "The Definitve Guide To Android On HTC HD2" but Im a visual person and learn better by seeing. I have seen a ton of videos on youtube, but I was hoping you guys could point me to the BEST one so I dont brick my new baby.
Thanks!
Ethan

You really don't need to watch a video. Just go to one of the Android build threads and follow the instructions provided within the first post or two.
Before you do that you will need to flash another Radio and ROM in WinMo. To do that, read this thread... Post number 2

After flashing new Rom and radio, download the build of your choice. Move the "android" folder to the root of your SD card. In Windows go to file explorer / SD card / Android: tap CLRCAD then HaRET. Now wait patiently while it boots.
Read a lot. Almost every question you can think of has been asked. Most builds will tell you what works and how to fix any bugs within the first 3 threads of the post.
Good luck and enjoy.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App

Thanks that will be helpful, but like I said I do best by seeing I found this video which looks good if anyone wants to be awesome and skim through it and tell me if its right that would be great.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y0YK1IqjB0

I'm with mindstormmaster1 on this. I'm getting my HD2 tomorrow, and could probably get it running just by reading, but some do learn better by watching. I've looked at a a few videos on youtube but most of them skip stages and just show android booting. It would be awesome if some (who knows what they're talking about) could do a complete step by step video from unboxing to running android.
I might make one once I'm a little more competent, cos I don't want to give people bad info.
First post btw, bid fan of what you guys have done.

How to install Android (froyo) on HD2 Leo

go to everythinghd2.blogspot.com it has a guide to installing android on your hd2 leo
so do the stickies on these boards.
Another non searcher/reader to add to the masses, sigh........
This gets at me too, but lets not flame.
and let this thread die its death now
It's a nice straight and to the point guide. The guides here are a bit complex and cover a lot of issues that may not apply to everyone.
OP, I think you need to include the possibility of flashing a new phone ROM besides just the radio. Froyo had some glitches when using a stock tmous rom, I had to flash to chuckyrom for instance. You should mention this, because there is a 90% certainty users will need to use one of the available roms out there.
Other than that, a think his guide has merit. The guides on here are a bit daunting to look at, especially with all the bold capitalized letters with silly character symbols and different fonts trying to get your attention, it's almost more distracting than just using plain text. But thats another story.
I think there needs to be more simplistic guides like this that let users try a predefined series of steps first for quick and easy installation, then if that doesnt work you can go through all the work of learning what you're doing and getting in-depth in the forums.
I searched this site for guides and that when I was looking for a way to get android on my hd2, but i found i'd be jumping from site to site trying to figure out how to do steps as they all assume you have experience with the hd2, so i thought i'd try making a simple step by step guide with a little more detail
If you can't figure out how to put android on this phone using XDA, then you shouldn't be using android on your handset.
That said, if you are going to use information from xda developers I hope you give proper credit.
Just wanted to let OP know that I just used his guide today after a buddy of mine bought an HD2 (after seeing me run android on my own hehe). I had kinda forgotten exactly the steps and weblinks with proper builds to get er done, and while Im sure I would have figured it out again quickly, having it all in one tight little place with simple to read & to the point instructions helped a lot.
Thanks again op!
I was going to rant but I decided not to. Instead I would like to say that I hope proper credit is given where credit is due.
Xda is home to the android to hd2 port!!!!!

Great But the Guy is Right!
Simple and step by step to the point!(thats how instructions to do something should be written, now I'm no expert but Half the time I cant even find the download links or they don't work. But basically Its a problem of...(fill in the blank), laziness perhaps lack of caring and or attention to details?? in my opinion. It may take a couple more sentences to get the exact point across but I personally think most every tutorial should be written as if for a complete noob. Because I want everyone who possibly can do actually be able to do it just makes sense from a marketing point of view I mean anyone can get into this sight so enough said. But I must admit XDA is always my first choice and usually answers my queries the best!

New Android Website! Need Feedback! Please

Hi, I am working on a new site with some of my buds...
Since we all have HD2's lol we will start here. The plan for this site is to help you with your android hacking. Like I said we will start with the HD2 for right now but eventually expand a whole lot. We want to have Android latest news and phones, help the community out. Maybe have forums eventually for other android devices in the future. Who knows where this idea will take us, but we want to focus on helping out the community. In no way we will be competing with XDA, but for Newbies is not easy reading thru all these phorums; or they are just lazy lol. We currently have a writer, graphic designer and a Mod freak to start things off. We want to know what you guys think, feel free to discuss and overall: What would you like to see on the site?
The site shall be called WWW.ANDROID4LIFE.COM and it goes live real on 3-1-11
You can preview the site now! Here: http://www.wix.com/casademipadre777/android4life

Thank you!
Very good site. Fantastic for beginners. Layout is easy to see and format throughout is good. Continuity also good.
One thing I will mention is that the transition effects between pages may be a burden for some older legacy computers and people running a a poor connection. Perhaps having a feature to avoid this would be good.
Good work man

Thanks. I'm glad you like the concept, and you are right... Pure Html sites are better but they lack on data stability, which is why we are using more flash sites. Besides they are more simple and I am a flash freek lol. This site is more for our generation and you need a good internet connection jaja! But we do have a link to update your browser flash player, we hope that helps some people. I really appreciate your feedback and trust me your suggestion is kept
it appears like its a NAND flashing method you are building here
you should specify that, as we know the other method is via SDCard in Winmo 6.5
also you should highlight the importance of the very basic and foremost first step of all
flashing HSPL3 (2.08HSPL)
then, MAGLDR
then everything else follows.
just my polite suggestion, very nice website BTW

Thanks jigners, we are thinking of adding a seperate tab for the SD Method for those that follow. But you got it right we are Emphasizing the Nand method. We will talk about this in the Video Tutorials along with all these major important steps, thanks!
Asshhhh.
Oeh, ok i try start at first things. It will be hard for you to understand but i give my best.
Never ever dont think this way - i have new and good pc (laptop, tab or smartphone) and my friends have too. So i create website, fun yes.
Real life is other. 65% people use older pc-s. Even more, think if someone goes to this site with hd2 and winmo, what and how he then see this page. This ugly and today outstanding flash IS NOT good way make good website. I'm serious.
REMAKE IT NOW.
About design.
I liked it. Littlebit mottled but not hurt everyone.
Site visitors counter today also out. Just place it bottom and hide for itself only.
I recommend to you get better some php based cms and attach your design. Then your site will be gotten on fly. With hd2 winmo and 3G. As you want bring beginners to site.
And one hint more. Think again about site content and main idea. Why? Week ago i seen on HTC site HD2, today not.
I dont want claim or blame you. Just these opinions i got whe i looked to this site. I thinked itself many times that hd2 needs some special site for helping xda devs work better and not waste time for threads named like these examples just gotted at this forum: [Q]Help needed Please, problems, HELP!

I understood some and thanks, we will work on making a back up for those that use older pc's lol. Thanks for the tips too, the datat that flash sites produce is awesome. The "visitor counter" feature that you mentioned is built in on the url as soon as you click it, the features of flash sites. We certantly want this to help people and make it easier to see, thanks... I hope we don't become like that site that you mentioned, that just disapeared lol...

ABC how to root,install rom.

I did my first post to day after many hours reading about how to root.
I made it with out help, but I was not confident.
I got a privat message Where someone aked how I did it. I have to say " Don't ask me".
The reason is that there seem to be a lot of traps along the way.
I read about one metod and started that, but then there was a warning and another suggestion. Then I went for the next one and again another suggestion.
I gave up and just picked the one with largest tread .
The things I'm wondering about are . Is there a sticky about how to step by step do it ,or do everybody need to read a lot and still be unsure about whitch way to go for?
Normally one way is better.
Is it not possible to concentrate it around one way?
There are lots of treads about how to do it but I'm confused about the warnings " if yod did it that way you can't use this file ,but need to look around for a file that you can use"
I did put in a new kernel and want to try a complete Rom,but I don't know if I can use a kk9 rom for my phone. There was a warning about use CF ready or made Rom ??
Is there,or if not, why is there not a sticky about how to tweak the easiest and most widely used way for beginners in this forum?
Then more people dear to start. More people is more money to those who make the files.
If there are many ways and conflicts, maybe a link to the compatible way can be posted together with the rom, kernel or what type of file that's posted.
Please correct me if I'm the only one that feels that there are to many choices for nearly the same thing.
Maybe I'm spoiled from the way the Norwegian apple forum was build for beginners to professionals.
Or maybe it's not a standard for whats the best way.
+1 on this!!
Yeah after paying what I paid and probably would have to deal with a nightmare of a return I'm not about to root or anything until its been run through it's paces a million times. Actually since there don't seem to be any solid ROMS yet I have not desire to anyway.
Also I rooted and unrooted my ATT Galaxy S2 a bunch of times and it ended up not able to connect voice calls for some reason. Had to return it. Not sure if it was related but I don't want to risk it with the Note.
I used to enjoy the video's explaining the Jailbreaking process from start to finish(iPhone). Has anyone seen a video guide for rooting/Roms? The only experience I have with Rom flashing is from the Windows mobile days, where as easy as jailbreaking(easier infact)

Hi there!
I found it here on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371070
Within it is a (Great) review of the Note. It is IMO worth to read it through, although it is very long.
Also, the same guys at AndroidNZ made a step by step Rooting guide, with a video (I did not watch it yet, because of corp. firewall ) You can find that here: http://www.androidnz.net/2011/11/at-your-own-risk-how-to-root-your.html
Happy rooting!
i have rooted my phone so how can i install rom ... Gnote cant use rom manager and it is such pain
Yes it can. I haven't done it myself yet, but search through a couple of threads and around 293 posts, and you'll find it

[Q] Noob need to update wm6.5 to Windows phone

Hi there! This is my first post and this question is the reason i joined here. So I'm a noob as title says.
I got a HTC HD2 (T-mobile) as a gift from my friend. Now i put my Dialog sim on it and it work beautifully. Dialog is a provider in my country which is Srilanka. This HTC HD2 came with the default os and it is WM6.5.
I heard that i can update to different operating system like android and all. I'm not interested in androids. But i do like windows 7 and mango by seeing the videos, never used though.
Can i update mine to windows phone while considering the Below Factors
1) The phone must work properly after the update as it is with out freezing and other troubles coz this is my only phone i have. If these update causes some sort of freezes or some thing i better be with wm 6.5 as right now
2) I need proper Video guide. Just one link not enough. Let assume if i have to install win 7 first and mango second. I need both link and you give me a step by step guide with video details links. Despite i'm being noob in mobiles i'm ok with computers. I use Win 7 x64 bit os.
Kind Regards
Nooby Mahi
I would suggest going here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027) then read it through thoroughly. Then read it again and then just for good measure read it again. It takes quite a bit of work but in the end it is a great rom and it turns your phone into an hd7. If you question how it works read through all of the responses. If you have questions read through the thread, it has probably been answered a million times. But if you can't find an answer don't be afraid to ask in the thread. You may get some d-bags replying read the thread but don't mind them someone will help you. We were all new here once.
Welcome to XDA. You are going to be really happy with your new phone, this thing is a beast!

dual boot Win 6.5 & Android 4

There are several old threads about dual-booting, and using this particular phone. I want Windows 6.5 or less and/or a desktop version of windows (because of certain apps)... and Android 4.0+ Is it possible? Would this phone be too slow... Is there a better phone that could do it? Is there no phone that could do it?

I'm not sure about desktop Windows but as for Android just place the ROM folder on the root of your SD card then run CLRCAD and HARET and it should work just fine. No other phone can do it as well as the HD2 (if they can do it at all).

Thankx for replying... I've posted on a few forums and haven't received anything till now. Anyway: So what you are saying is buy this HD2 phone preloaded with the Win 6.5 OS... Then put Android 4.0+ on the SDCard and boot into that. I would really want to run Android most of the time. I would connect the Android OS to my AT&T and make calls with it... and only use Win 6.5 rarely.
Questions:
1) Are there examples of people actually doing this? recently?... or just back in the days of 2.2 which as I mentioned in the 1st thread, i found many google links/forum threads on.
2) Can I still get to the Android market and all normal apps, and not have other DRM issues?
3) Since the OS is actually on the SDCard, and I hit the reset, would it automatically go to Windows, when I reset?

From Star Trek: Sarek said: "It is difficult to answer, when one does not understand the question." Or in my case, it was difficult to go looking for the answer, when not understanding how supposedly easy it was to find. There's a difference between not knowing/understanding and simply not trying. This was quite obviously the latter. I'm not trying to make you feel stupid at all, in fact you're probably the opposite since you're going to buy an HD2 . I'm just saying that you weren't exactly trying to find the answer and just wanted to be spoon fed, and as someone who's new to this you're probably going to have a lot of questions along the way and it's better to learn how to find the answers yourself than to just get given them because it's faster and better for everyone.

If you wish to keep noobs as noobs, and turn them away, then continue to use sarcasm. But if you wish to turn noobs into contributors, and receive more thanks, than you treat them with respect. --- I've been looking for weeks for the right place. I wish to upgrade my phone soon, but not in that big of a hurry.
You wish me to defend myself? OK. Your XDA site is huge with a vast array of forum links. I was not aware I would need to look under HTC development'. I didn't know it had anything to do with Development.... Sorry (why am I apologizing to you?). To me software development is when someone programs an application that runs on a Win-mobile and/or Android device better known as an 'app'. Or what I do... I am a software developer for the asp.net environment. When searching for dual-booting as I said in the 1st thread I get tons of threads from years ago about Android 2.2. The same happens when searching from google. Is it really that easy to find as you say? Unless like you, you know exactly where to look. 'It is easy to find the answers, when you know right where to look', 'you understood the question'... but I did not know where even to look!

There was no sarcasm in my post at all, but now I'm going to be quite blunt. You're acting like an idiot. I understand why you may think software development is to do with apps but when there are two separate forums for NAND and SD then it should be obvious that it's not. I was 14 and I managed to figure out how to install SD Android without any help whatsoever, I refuse to believe that a software programmer couldn't figure it out. You wished to dual boot WinMo and Android on your SD card on an HTC HD2:
1. Find XDA
2. Find the HD2 forum
3. Oh look, it has a section called 'Android'. The answer's probably in there somewhere
4. I want to boot Android on my SD card. Conveniently, there's a forum dedicated to SD Android. I wonder if there are modern ROMs there
5. Whoa, threads with ICS and JB ROMs as well as guides on how to install them. I guess I've found my solution.
Yes, it's just as easy to find as I say if not easier. Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 could have been solved with Google.
I couldn't care less about thanks, they're not a very good reflection of... well, anything really. I've seen people with 0 thanks post amazingly useful guides (in fact I think the guide I first followed to flash NAND Android was someone's first post) and people with thousands of thanks ask 'best ROM' questions. Whilst it would be great to turn more people into contributors it'll be impossible for you to become one if you don't put any effort in yourself.
Because this thread went off the rails I am going to close it, but here's the quick rundown:
if you want to dual-boot WM6.5 and Android, you can do so using the haret method mentioned. Yes it is fully featured (market etc.) and yes when you restart you boot back into WM6.5, but you can boot into Android really fast after that if you want.
You can also dual-boot WP7 with Android, put Android on NAND or other options.
Searching really is the key, I know the HD2 forums can be a bit daunting and some things are going to be a bit hard to find but generally speaking if it has anything to do with Android (like dual booting from WM6.5) you will find it stickied in the Android forum.
Check stuff out here
