Hi there! This is my first post and this question is the reason i joined here. So I'm a noob as title says.
I got a HTC HD2 (T-mobile) as a gift from my friend. Now i put my Dialog sim on it and it work beautifully. Dialog is a provider in my country which is Srilanka. This HTC HD2 came with the default os and it is WM6.5.
I heard that i can update to different operating system like android and all. I'm not interested in androids. But i do like windows 7 and mango by seeing the videos, never used though.
Can i update mine to windows phone while considering the Below Factors
1) The phone must work properly after the update as it is with out freezing and other troubles coz this is my only phone i have. If these update causes some sort of freezes or some thing i better be with wm 6.5 as right now
2) I need proper Video guide. Just one link not enough. Let assume if i have to install win 7 first and mango second. I need both link and you give me a step by step guide with video details links. Despite i'm being noob in mobiles i'm ok with computers. I use Win 7 x64 bit os.
Kind Regards
Nooby Mahi
I would suggest going here(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236027) then read it through thoroughly. Then read it again and then just for good measure read it again. It takes quite a bit of work but in the end it is a great rom and it turns your phone into an hd7. If you question how it works read through all of the responses. If you have questions read through the thread, it has probably been answered a million times. But if you can't find an answer don't be afraid to ask in the thread. You may get some d-bags replying read the thread but don't mind them someone will help you. We were all new here once.
Welcome to XDA. You are going to be really happy with your new phone, this thing is a beast!

Welcome to xda-developers community, about 6.5 on your lg incite it is possible, just give it time, there are some guys already working on dumping the rom and that's the first start for rom cooking(not really, but the first thing would be hard spl/cid unlock), anyways welcome and enjoy your stay.
Sincerely
Rafyvitto
Hey thanks for the reply and i have been following the thread for the incited rom cooking im just getting so anxious haha
That would be sweet, If it would run like it does on my hermes (which it should because specwise its more powerful in every aspect) It would put the incite way ahead of alot of windows mobile phones in terms of style and functionality. Excluding the touch hd most of the wm6.5 roms are for older, and in my opinion uglier phones i.e. my hermes, and it would be great to see it on a slimmer phone.
Any Update on the development of the LG incite's 6.5 ROM yet?

Lg INCITE having windows mobile 6.5
Hi,
Ummmm im new hear and i just don't know how to get wm on my phone? I dont. Everytime i try to find something it wont work., Where does everybody download this in to their phone. and what are the steps.
Thnkyou
RE:Need WM 6.5 on Lg Incite (Read the Comment!!!!)
I recently bought an Incite and found a WM 6.5 Rom for th Lg Incite. I downloaded the Rom and it seemed very nice and had many new features, but there are way to much bugs to fix. For Example, If you turn on the acceloremeter sensor, your device would freeze from time to time. Also once you download this Rom you would not be able to get your old WM 6.1 back. I ended up getting to annoyed with the bugs, so i called AT&T asking them for a replacement (I just got Lucky so don't you think you can call AT&T for a replacement. I recommend you not to get it, but it is totally up to you.
Here is the WM 6.5 link:

This section is for posting software releases, development software, and hacks. General questions go in the Questions and Answers section.
For those new to XDA-Developers, we only support HTC manufactured devices, and as such there will not be a section for roms from the LG Incite, as it is obviously not a HTC product.

HD2 will fully support Windows 7. It is a supported phone and meets the requirments for buttons, resolution, memory, and speed.
T-Mobile will be releasing a free upgrade to Windows 7 later this year for the HD2. Not sure about others but I am sure the chefs will present 7.0 - I am personally not that excited about it.

It's not..... this thread should probably be closed and free_loaderz be banned...
All the information regarding Windows Phone 7 and HD2 is plastered all over the stickies in the 7 forums. You can't miss it if you know how to read.
Here
And here
Doesn't even require a search it's a sticky right on the top..... come on now.
"Windows 7" is an operating system for PCs.
What is "WM7"?

It is actually Windows Phone 7
Just the facts folks:
T-Mobile or HTC ARE NOT RELEASING WP7 FOR THE HD2 OR ANY OTHER CURRENT DEVICE
WP7 IS being developed for the HD2....but we don't know if/or it will fully function
Asking for a WP7 ROM or release is grounds for a moderator warning
Please stop posting threads about this.
For further discussion please post in this thread.
It's real, check this out...

Yeah but you have to admit, this looks to be a marketing ploy to push people into buying the new phones rather than buying the HD2 or equivalent and installing 7 at the time of release. Eventually, basing this assumption on track records and past experience, they will probably release a downloadable installer for those who meet the minimum requirements. But saying that the phone won't see an upgraded OS because of two extra buttons sounds absurd to me.
The MS devs probably also need to focus on a certain hardware set initially and after bugs are corrected we will probably see OS upgrades available, like they were hinting at before all the hype and hoopla. I don't see why you would suggest banning someone for curiosity, sure this is probably annoying to read over and over. But people are excited and you can't blame them.
WP7 will never come to legacy devices...it's been said by HTC and Microsoft both that legacy devices will never get official WP7 upgrades. People that keep hopeing for official updates really need to embrace reality.
I hope some dev about WM7.
Sorry I see now where to post further about this topic.
you taking this way to serious its just questions. you are typing like u mad over there. WE ARE NOT ALL COMPUTER GEEKS like you. chill out and help out or just keep it to yourself really.
This question has been asked HUNDREDS of times though, thats the problem. People don't understand patience.
1000th post w00t w00t!
Hi All,
Is there a way to install Android on the HD2 without it booting to WM first?
if possible, what are the advantages/disadvantages to doing it this way?
Just installed android on my HD2 using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=843221 and so far its working great, just wondering if possible to do without WM5
Thanks for your help
Are you serious? Try searching the forum. This has been answered a kazillion times.
Simple answer: Nope!

Closest thing is an auto boot loader. I use exceller multi boot, and you can set it so it boots into Android I'm 3 seconds. There are different opinions on whether this makes any difference on battery drain, I personally haven't seen anything that makes me think it does.
Also, seriously, read a little before asking questions. Almost ten out of ten times not only has someone else asked the same question, they have usually been answered thoroughly.

read the forums under android development for hd2.
the answers you wanted to ask has been asked long ago.
takes a little time to read and understand the development(rom or otherwise) of android for hd2.
btw, welcome to the forums.I'm new as well.
nyyfan: The search term you are looking for is NAND. It's in a lot of thread titles.

Tell us something about your phone.
What ROM / Radio you have on your phone?
(go to settings / about phone / software info...)
Then you have to choose a build. If you have time it is better to try several and choose the one you are most comfortable in. I tried 5-6 builds so far and yesterday I installed latest JDMS build and am very happy with it. It is not that fancy looking like Desire HD builds but it is very much faster and for me so far everything works.
As kokfann said it is best to do some research on forums and get a little better picture, but if you are stuck in something let us know. I came to this forum several months ago and I understand how much stressful can be searching the best solution on so much information here. And as I see often lots of people here are just waiting for a newbie to ask some basic question just to flame him horribly. Do some search and ask if you need something.
Start by reading (at least first several pages):

HD2 Linux/Android Q&A Thread - ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!!
There are several old threads about dual-booting, and using this particular phone. I want Windows 6.5 or less and/or a desktop version of windows (because of certain apps)... and Android 4.0+ Is it possible? Would this phone be too slow... Is there a better phone that could do it? Is there no phone that could do it?

I'm not sure about desktop Windows but as for Android just place the ROM folder on the root of your SD card then run CLRCAD and HARET and it should work just fine. No other phone can do it as well as the HD2 (if they can do it at all).

Thankx for replying... I've posted on a few forums and haven't received anything till now. Anyway: So what you are saying is buy this HD2 phone preloaded with the Win 6.5 OS... Then put Android 4.0+ on the SDCard and boot into that. I would really want to run Android most of the time. I would connect the Android OS to my AT&T and make calls with it... and only use Win 6.5 rarely.
Questions:
1) Are there examples of people actually doing this? recently?... or just back in the days of 2.2 which as I mentioned in the 1st thread, i found many google links/forum threads on.
2) Can I still get to the Android market and all normal apps, and not have other DRM issues?
3) Since the OS is actually on the SDCard, and I hit the reset, would it automatically go to Windows, when I reset?

Come on, you don't even have to search to get your answer, just browse to the SD Android development forum. You're just being lazy now.

From Star Trek: Sarek said: "It is difficult to answer, when one does not understand the question." Or in my case, it was difficult to go looking for the answer, when not understanding how supposedly easy it was to find. Us IT people are in the business of making others feel stupid often, but we don't have to flaunt it.
Yes this is a good link, that now you have so eloquently pointed out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986437

There's a difference between not knowing/understanding and simply not trying. This was quite obviously the latter. I'm not trying to make you feel stupid at all, in fact you're probably the opposite since you're going to buy an HD2 . I'm just saying that you weren't exactly trying to find the answer and just wanted to be spoon fed, and as someone who's new to this you're probably going to have a lot of questions along the way and it's better to learn how to find the answers yourself than to just get given them because it's faster and better for everyone.

If you wish to keep noobs as noobs, and turn them away, then continue to use sarcasm. But if you wish to turn noobs into contributors, and receive more thanks, than you treat them with respect. --- I've been looking for weeks for the right place. I wish to upgrade my phone soon, but not in that big of a hurry.
You wish me to defend myself? OK. Your XDA site is huge with a vast array of forum links. I was not aware I would need to look under HTC development'. I didn't know it had anything to do with Development.... Sorry (why am I apologizing to you?). To me software development is when someone programs an application that runs on a Win-mobile and/or Android device better known as an 'app'. Or what I do... I am a software developer for the asp.net environment. When searching for dual-booting as I said in the 1st thread I get tons of threads from years ago about Android 2.2. The same happens when searching from google. Is it really that easy to find as you say? Unless like you, you know exactly where to look. 'It is easy to find the answers, when you know right where to look', 'you understood the question'... but I did not know where even to look!

There was no sarcasm in my post at all, but now I'm going to be quite blunt. You're acting like an idiot. I understand why you may think software development is to do with apps but when there are two separate forums for NAND and SD then it should be obvious that it's not. I was 14 and I managed to figure out how to install SD Android without any help whatsoever, I refuse to believe that a software programmer couldn't figure it out. You wished to dual boot WinMo and Android on your SD card on an HTC HD2:
1. Find XDA
2. Find the HD2 forum
3. Oh look, it has a section called 'Android'. The answer's probably in there somewhere
4. I want to boot Android on my SD card. Conveniently, there's a forum dedicated to SD Android. I wonder if there are modern ROMs there
5. Whoa, threads with ICS and JB ROMs as well as guides on how to install them. I guess I've found my solution.
Yes, it's just as easy to find as I say if not easier. Steps 1, 2, 3 and 4 could have been solved with Google.
I couldn't care less about thanks, they're not a very good reflection of... well, anything really. I've seen people with 0 thanks post amazingly useful guides (in fact I think the guide I first followed to flash NAND Android was someone's first post) and people with thousands of thanks ask 'best ROM' questions. Whilst it would be great to turn more people into contributors it'll be impossible for you to become one if you don't put any effort in yourself.
Because this thread went off the rails I am going to close it, but here's the quick rundown:
if you want to dual-boot WM6.5 and Android, you can do so using the haret method mentioned. Yes it is fully featured (market etc.) and yes when you restart you boot back into WM6.5, but you can boot into Android really fast after that if you want.
You can also dual-boot WP7 with Android, put Android on NAND or other options.
Searching really is the key, I know the HD2 forums can be a bit daunting and some things are going to be a bit hard to find but generally speaking if it has anything to do with Android (like dual booting from WM6.5) you will find it stickied in the Android forum.
