Just to let you know , T-mobile UK will be launching the HTC hero from the 17.7.2009.
It will be branded as the official G2 or the G2 Touch ...
Anyone due an upgrade or thinkin about a new line, its worth taking a look at ....

hmmm not too sure about that ... I work for t-mobile uk and have not heared about it being pushed back ...

like i mentioned i aint heared nothing about it being pushed back at t-mobile... the amazon one is sim free...
im at work right now and our systems still show 17.7 as release date....will know more on friday....

Hmm, thats annoying! Expansys is still showing the 20th July, so fingers crossed, but not holding me breathe! Amazon are normally pretty spot on with release dates, but have to wait and see.

Just phoned T-mobile and they said it is being released on the 20th July and would have to ring back that day to get one!
I'm hearing 24th July from Amazon, 24th July _OR_ 15th August UK release.
My dutch provider is pushing it back week after week (it was 8th July, then 10th, then 14th, now 22nd. I'm still going with the 24th in my mind ).

Just checked their website now, and it says:
"Availability: Expected release date 20 Jul 09".
You may still be correct though, depends, where did you get that information from?

Its good, it changes daily. Last night it reverted back to 20th July, this morning its on 2nd August, it can't seem to make its mind up.

friend from London said they told him in T Mobile they won't be selling it unlocked....can anyone please deny that?
T-Mobile UK won't sell it unlocked, though there are plenty of other vendors who will (Expansys etc).

don't live in the UK, have a friend going there and staying till July 23rd, was counting on him picking it up (tax free) :/
Well, the Expansys date has gone back to 20th July, so you might be in luck! Given that it seems to change hourly, it's doubtful though!
Personally I'm hoping that the T-Mobile website will have them available tomorrow as I'm out of contract and use T-Mobile anyway.

While contacting Handtec to pre-order the HD2, I have been informed that there will be a delayed. Instead of 11 of November, the new availability date has been pushed back to 18 November or so.
Can anyone enquire with their retailer and confirm (or refute) this bad news?
Apparently, HTC advised them of the delay; yet, no details have been given.
I suspect a ROM or logistics problem.
Clove changed the ETA as well last night
Stock due 13th November (First UK Stock). Should be free stock so place back orders now!

I have ordered the HD from Handtec before and I think they're cheaper!
1 week delay shouldn't be that much of a problem. When I read the thread title I though of something like mid December...

I can agree with you to some extent, but I had already made my mind that I was going to get and play with it net weekend. A delay is a delay as far as I am concerned and if there is no, there may be more! Who knows...!

NL Version was 5/6nov
UK Version was 12/13nov
So I don't see this as new for me...

Exactly, I just sold mime on eBay thinking I would just spend few days with Polaris (backup), now I will try to delay the delivery of the sold item. I don't know what to say to the bidder, though!

So, they don't know the release date and they don't know if they will have enough stock for all on the first batch.
I am thinking in cancel the order and get new one on clove, 13th and they say that he will have enough stock for all.

That's the tweet. What I am interested in is why did they emphasize the Sprint version? I hope this doesn't mean that the original Hero will be left behind .

They already confirmed it is getting an update.
They just never confirmed the update for the sprint hero and the droid Eris.
Hence why they confirmed the update for those 2 phones now.
I just hope that they finish the update for the European hero this year. They did confirm it much sooner after all.
I agree, the European Hero Eclair update was announced almost 6 weeks ago now in October. What's taking so long?!

the update for unbranded hero will come earlier than the sprint version. this is how it's handled in nearly all cases:
- update is done for unbranded devices
- carrier pick up the update and provide them to their customers at a later point (because they have their own rom versions they need to update)
I'm using the custom rom taken from the unbranded rom, same phone just not going to get the stuff the carrier put in.

I would assume to coincide with the 2.1 update.

Hah!.. exactly what I did! I'm lovin my phone now ;P
Chatted online with an optus business rep today to ask how much the new samsung tablet will be (about the same as a Galaxy, expect a $49 plan for it), also asked if & when froyo for the galaxy is coming on optus. He said OTA update will be in first week in september!

I think this might be slightly outdated. Initial rumors pointed that Galaxy S would be getting Froyo in Korea before the end of August with it rolling out internationally in September. The rumor was so strong that the news media weere saying that the local carrier was aiming to give unlimited data and encourage tethering after an August Froyo release.
There are only 3 business days remaining in Korea, so that rumor seems to be coming and going without being fulfilled. Also, the rumor mill here hasn't been hot, which I expected it would be by now if we were indeed getting this in August.
