Bump app not working - G2 and Desire Z General

I was trying to bump things from my vibrant to my G2 and its a no go the vibrant is bumping with my wifes mytouch slide so it must be the G2 anybody use it with success let me know please
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk

I used it between myself and an iPhone 3GS owner. It wasn't working until we held our fists together longer.

Bump is a sketchy app...
It sometimes worked on my nexus and sometimes it didn't!

Works perfectly for me just used it Sunday to transfer apps from one G2 to another G2 no problem what so ever

This tried again today maybe my vibrant is the problem oh well cut and paste it is

I was just trying to 'bump' my new G2 w/ a fellow co-worker, he has a Droid X. Every time we 'bumped' his phone would pick up the action, but mine wouldn't.. so I turned up the app sensitivity all the way, which helped to improve the bump, but not enough because I still had to hit my phone decently hard on my own hand to even get the app to recognize the action, and still, the handshake wouldn't work.. we were not able to successfully communicate/transfer with each other via the bump. Could it be because the G2 has a newer Android OS release? Or maybe the bump app just needs to be updated?.... not sure.

Hi, Im prob finally gonna upgrade my G1. =)

Well finally! G2 looks like a replacement for my 2 yr old G1 (Which is still running like a champ!) Tho I see the issues on G2 rooting. I was wondering Im 60% ready to order it today and pay 300$ to tmo. I mean rooted G1 is great.. but reasons I did that was for faster speed and apps on SD.. which the G2 does, The only final part was maybe firewalls, blockers and wifi tether which was only via root.
Thoughts from others? I know one day G2 will be rooted fine. But otherwise, anyone else have thoughts from G1 to G2? =)
You saying its a good idea to upgrade to the G2 is like saying..."Is it a good idea to upgrade my fat girlfriend for Megan Fox"?

Not really, those who use a G1 rooted, what are you MISSING in your G2? Im trying to debate do I give in and buy it NOW or wait. I got a itchy trigger finger... I upgraded once and got the HD2 (Which I put on ATT after I unlocked and got energy on it) but I never replaced my G1 which stays on my tmo account. Finally a device I might be able to have MORE fun with. Main thing I want is the wifi tether, tho I guess I could use pdanet and a usb.
What key features would you say scream the most on a G2 that G1 doesnt do? Hows emulators working on it?
I also came from a g1. I was running cm 6.0 so things felt quite similar really as far as UI except at blazing speeds. I do miss all the tweaks that came with custom ROMs however.
The physical phone is taking a little getting used to simply because I have used the same phone for 2 years. Won't take long though. For me, everything is an improvement for the most part.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I've been using the g1 as my primary/only phone for two years. The only thing that I miss from my G1 is the ability to IPSec VPN into Cisco devices. The wifi tether was nice but I only used that once or twice a year. The fact that the led only lights up to indicate that the phone is charging. It would be nice if it was a multi-color led like on the G1 and could be used for notifications or if the trackpad was multi-color. I wish I could unlock the phone with on of the bottom front keys or the trackpad. Really, all of those are minor except for the VPN, and that wasn't a big enough deal to keep me away from the G2.
The G2 is so superior to the G1 that I can't imagine staying with the G1. I was running Cyanogen 5.0.8 when I switched.
Well so far sounds like HTC made a nice phone that doesnt need a custom rom to make it super sexy awesome. =) That is very good...
Anyone try SNES or NES on it? Im wondering if the games are better. =) (Did they put the 3d app like need for speed up there?)
Anything new the G2 can do that the G1 couldnt or that it can perform better? (Im now at 75% at the point where Ill say screw giftmas and just pay 300$ on my Nov 28th bill lol)
Im using Enoms 1.6 on the G1 btw. (Stick with what works hehe)
I miss the full customization of theming my phone. That will come with root. Other than that, the G2 was a great upgrade from G1. One feature I absolutely love... While talking on the phone on the G1, you would have to double tap or press menu and unlock to access the key pad. With the light sensor on the G2, it pops up automatically as soon as you take the phone away from your ear.
Well thats good, =)
Durability wise, Is this slide design durable you think? Also from when I held it, doesnt seem as cheap or flimsy as the mytouch slide, which I felt was a JOKE.
Hows the camera compared to a HD2 (If anyone has it) I know my HD2 does some real nice ones. The G1.. always had abit of motion blur cause unless you held it so still.. I didnt like taking pics on it.
Any good games the G2 can do? I know on Verizon they had the NFS game that the Iphone had, which was cool with tilt controls. Would love it if the G2 started doing it. Speaking of that.. Does the G2 have better open gl support?

[Q] PLZ help, Getting replacment phone soon...

So I am having issues with my G2, the quality in calls is horrible, and been getting worse. (Voices on other end cutting in and out, but the other party can hear me just fine)
SO I called T Mobile, and they are sending me one free of charge(Bare-bones, just the phone, I keep my battery, sim, sdcard, etc)
MY QUESTION IS: Before I send my current G2 back to t mobile, should I put it back to main factory settings??? (I have visionary, gscript, setcpu, etc.) I don't want them to see that, and them be like you voided it, so now you have to pay for two phones.
So do I set it back to factory, and if so, how do I do that, so they don't know I rooted it? I'm sorry I tried searching the forums, and did not find anything.
Thank-you in advance for your help.

You may as well, just to be on the safe side. Plus, that way it'll erase all of your personal information from the phone before they receive it back.

The issue you described sounds like a network issue, don't be surprised if it continues on the new G2.

Well the thing is, all of my tombile phones(G1, Cliq) ive had before this, the reception was fine. Also while Im on my G2, I have full bars, and the other end can hear me fine, they are just coming in bad.
Doesn't that sound like a speaker issue????
I also think it is a network issue. I'm having similar problems, more with data right now as I'm not making or getting very many calls on this new number. I'm on my 2nd G2 BTW

i moved from a nexus to a g2 and dont miss a thing. i never rooted mine or messed with roms so i dont miss that aspect. in fact, i think the g2 improves upon the nexus in almost every way. the nexus was a great phone (my first android, and purchased in May so i was a little late to the game) but the g2 is just better. screen response is better, not that i really had issues, the g2 is just more responsive. cell signal is way better. much stronger 3g in the same locations where the nexus would drop to edge. battery life is way better. doesnt even come close to overheating when used as a nav/mp3 player in my car. external speaker is much better. while i had no issues typing on the screen of the nexus, a physical keyboard is just awesome. i still have my nexus sitting at home so i plan to put gingerbread on it as soon as its released and play with it and i got into the google app maker beta thing a while back so i may use the nexus to mess with that as well but my g2 will continue to be my "daily driver"
I should it keep mine but is too late now but if i can get one for $300 i buy one this weekend for a backup phone

Yep eMMC has been disabled. There should be a set of permanent root instructions soon.
I didn't 'replace' my nexus, but my company offered to get me a company phone, so I got a g2 to accompany my nexus. I still think the nexus one is one of the best phones ever. It was very well designed, and used top notch materials. About a week ago my daughter(4) broke the digitizer playing angry birds. She got mad and slammed it on the table. :-/ I'll fix it eventually, and keep it forever. I still love that nexus.
I don't miss using my nexus as my primary device, but I won't get rid of it.
As for the g2, I never used the physical keyboard because I'm so accustomed to using the on screen one. When the OTA came, something happened upon reboot and my phone caught an 'illness' if you will. Everything worked flawlessly, except it would vibrate every 5-10 seconds regardless of volume or system state. Even when I was on the phone.
T-mobile let me trade it in for a Mytouch4G(for free), and I can't say that I miss it all that much. The only real advantage would be the physical keyboard, which I never used. The HTC espresso UI is a bit annoying, but I like the widgets and LOVE the dialer. I may go back to launcherpro, but for now I'm enjoying it.
I use both on a daily basis. But my N1 is now my "tablet" until the actual tablets come out. The few issue I have with the G2 will be fixed by root or updates. I'm still a little PO'd about the "vanilla" android is on the G2 and the memory but my N1 was starting to feel a little long in the tooth.

Got my first N1

Hey guys. I'm still kind of new to Android. I've had a couple, but always found something wrong, so I returned them. Im really liking the OS coming from iPhone. I recently returned my Atrix and bought an at&t N1. So far I love it. Its running 2.3.1 on CM6.
But I would like some mod suggestions? Roms? Anything you other N1 users really like?
Also, is there a way to increase the volume? Both headphone and ear piece? Its kind of hard to hear those that are soft talkers.
Thanks guys!

every once in a while I try out a sense rom and quite enjoy it but I keep coming back to cyanogenmod for it's speed, stability and customizability(that's probably not a word but you know what I mean). I was the exact same way with my old htc magic. If you want to try sense, check out the Desire HD port. there are TONS of really nice features in sense. Also, some people really like the MIUI rom. Personally, I'm not a fan because it seems like it's trying to copy iOS too much but a lot of people love it.
I think I did read something about a volume hack once but I never tried it out myself. never really had any problems.. then again, I very rarely use my phone as an actual phone
Welcome! Got my 1st N1 a couple of weeks ago...it beats the crap out of the newer phones IMHO. CM7 is running great for me.

I agree. Still a better phone than the new ones. With the help of a friend, I just flashed CM7. The only force close I got was you tube.
I would still like to find some thing about the volume.
And anything about using an OC kernal on CM7?

I have a Droid X I have had for about 6 mos. While my DX has GB and has benchmarked at 2137 I miss my N-1! Don't get me wrong I love my DX but that N-1 was sweet! Keep it! It isn't a developer phone for nothing. I miss my Nexus One!
Welcome to XDA and the awesome Nexus1...Happy Flashing!

Your nexus one
The nexus one is an awesome phone. But as everyone know it lacks on board storage space. This will frustrating when you are trying to load that final app and you are down to your last 20 mbs and you keep getting the Memory low error message.
A lot of roms have claimed to address this but I have tried them all and have had an N1 for about a year. CyanogenMOD is awesome but CM7 really has issues and you will fall in love with some of the features but still feel as if you need something more. I use Super AOSP with my N1. It allows me to have APPS2SD capability that was fairly easy to setup and works flawlessly. I had over 100 apps installed and my phone still showed over 160MB of storage available on the phone. I never had a force close or any problems at all really. So yeah in my opinion the N1 is great, but with a few hacks it can be excellent.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966635
Currently I am using an HTC Thunderbolt and the phone is phenomenal as well but the Nexus One is still truly a great phone. Even after being out for a year there are still phone trying to keep up with it. If only the N1 was available for Verizon I would have never made the switch.

I know that exact feeling. I loved about 98% of my Atrix. But I know it will never gets roms like the N1. It's amazing how well it runs for being as old as it is. I really hope Google gets with HTC again for their next Nexus. I wont buy a Nexus S. Enjoy your N1 when you get it.
CM 7 isn't perfect, but I like it so far. I'll probably flash something different in a couple days.

So I'm having a couple issues with CM 7 and since I don't have 10 posts yet, ill post here.
None of my e-mails in gmail are coming through. I have auto on, but they aren't getting pushed. I have to go into my gmail app and high refresh to get my e-mails.
Also, on my last rom, push notifications worked for Facebook. But they aren't on CM7.
Also my battery life seems to have gotten worse since the other 2.3 rom I had.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

First day with N1, reboots just after entering PIN.
Just got my first Nexus One. Wow, is it a sleek phone, and the speed increase... mmhmm. A marked difference to my now sadly departed X10i.
Came direct with 2.3.3. (it's been used as a display piece, but otherwise completely new). But then the trouble started. Constant reboots right after entering the PIN and when everything should start. Boom! Back to the X-screen and most of the time, a reboot, but sometimes it gets completely stuck there.
Succeeded in making a factory reset in the 10 seconds of working time that the phone gave me... After which things seemed to go well. Until it appeared again, again, again.
I'd re-flash, but I'm not familiar enough with the procedures. Which file should I recover with using the "update.zip"? (No custom stuff for me, this is still my first day with the phone). IF a pre-rooted version is available, I'd go for that, but if not, the stock one should do as well.

You can reflash your N1 to 2.2 with the instructions from wiki. After that you should get back to 2.3.3 with OTA update.

My Experience with the SGS2 and Why I'm Now Using the Epic 4G

About 3 months ago, I switched my tired old HTC Evo 4G for a Samsung Epic 4G Touch. I'd heard many great things about the super amoled screen and Exynos processor so I thought I'd give Samsung a shot. When I got the Samsung, it had many annoying issues. First off, whenever it was connected to Sprint's data I couldn't get anything to load and the buttons would press themselves so whenever I would try to text someone the menu would pop up, I would accidentally hit send, and they would get a half typed message. I odined different modems and tried just about every ROM on XDA but nothing fixed this problem. It had other smaller issues that I couldn't work through like music would glitch out and get all choppy if I locked the phone and it would randomly reboot. Sprint and Samsung would not fix or replace it so I just put up with it for 3 months. One day the display just completely stopped working so I put it in a drawer and started shopping around for a replacement. I came across a really cheap Epic 4G and after hearing people rave about how amazing their Samsungs are, I wanted to give them one more shot. When I got it, I immediately flashed it over to CM9 and got it all configured the way I wanted it. I've been using it for 3 months now and this phone is amazing, It's smooth, the screen is brilliant, and it has no issues running any 3D games. It wasn't topping benchmarks like my S2 was but it does everything my S2 did and more. The keyboard is a huge advantage and official stable CM is much nicer than the S2's nightlies. Honestly, I don't see the need to upgrade unless your phone is completely dead or about to die. Sorry for the wall of words but I wanted to get my Samsung experience out there. Thanks for taking the time to read!
OG Epic FTW!
My sister recently got the GS3. It looks like an amazing piece of hardware, and I was definitely tempted to upgrade, but the lack of a hw keyboard gave me pause. I still have my original launch-week Epic, and it still runs like a beast!

Yeah, I know what you folks mean. I picked up a Sprint Galaxy SII after I thought that I FUBAR'ed the charging jack on my launch day OG Epic 4G, though it turns out that it's just a bit loose. After I duplicated my Boost PAYGO (yeah 35 cent/day 3G data!) account details onto the SII, only once I looked into putting a custom ROM on it did I realize what a pain in the @$$ it was. I had to Odin back to stock several times. Root is not functional, with SU denying all apps root access for some unknown reason. Still cannot get a custom ROM on it. Plus its lack of a hardware keyboard is a near deal-killer, as I love it on my Epic 4G. Last, the SII is *very* slick, and as a result, difficult to keep a firm grip on. I'll probably wipe the details off of it and sell it. Its hardware upgrades are nice, but for someone used to hacking Epic 4G just right, it's a flawed phone.
