Just got my phone but i will be taking a trip overseas in 2 days. Need my Tmobile USA G2 (htc desire Z) unlocked.
Does anyone know of a paid online service that can do it?
Ive already tried:
HTCunlockshop.com --- can't do it yet
HTCcode.com --- waiting on response
Any help would be appreciated, but if youre suggesting/recommending a site, please explain or give reason.
thanks!
Dont advertise here, ill be watching..
Apparantly, the second one you mentioned can... Seen it advertised somewhere that they can unlock the desire z (so would think so for the g2 as well, but who knows)...

yeah, im still waiting on HTCcode.com, it's been 24+ hours, no code yet.
HTCcode.com refunded my money. nogo.
Tried calling Tmobile customer care, Apparently the G2 officially came out for Tmobile USA Oct. 6th. The customer service tech rep on the line told me there is a 14-day 'buyers remorse' period before the phone's IMEI can be inputted into their systems... ? whatever
Anyone with suggestions/solutions, im all ears. The new G2 is essentially a much improved nexus one with a slide out keyboard.
btw, XDA rules.
HTC database has not been updated yet. Codes for US version of Desire Z (G2) are not available yet. This info is from October 5th. Once they are available every unlocker will be able to get them.
check ebay, I saw one there yesterday
I'm interested in this as well. I'm thinking of getting the T-Mobile G2 off eBay and using it overseas.
@cozmo5050 if you're able to get one, please pm me the website. Thanks.
The imei is accepted but will I get the code?
http://www.htcunlockshop.com
Anyone tried?
Ditto - looking for someone to unlock mine to use on AT&T i tried htcunlockshop and waiting for a reply, they don't take paypal. It Sux
well, After HTCcode.com refunded me the $20, the next day I was contacted by [email protected] (sudarshan ramesh). He/she told me they just updated their database, and it would cost $35 now, but my unlock code for the Tmobile G2 was available and would unlock the phone.
So, i sent $35 bucks with my IMEI#, 30min later, the code was sent via email.
I stuck in AT&T's sim card, punched in the code, ... press the unlock button, and the screen goes black and shows " requesting network unlock..."
It stays on this screen for a good 5minutes, after that the screen turns all black and just stays on, does nothing. I found this strange so the next thing i did was try to turn it off and back on. Pressing the power button did nothing. I pulled out the battery and turned it back on. Tmobile boot animation, after 1min loading, goes back to the same screen that asks for a sim unlock code.
I contacted [email protected], he/she wanted to verify if i did everything correctly. He/she wanted pictures, i sent it. Then I was to send in a video showing that i did everything correctly, which i did and uploaded. It's been a few days, no response. Feels like after proving everything was done correctly, I'm getting the run around... and the phone is still locked to Tmobile.
I just want to emphasize that this posting is my own personal experience trying to get an unlock code for the newly released Tmobile G2. It is not meant to directly flame anyone or any particular website.
To be continued...
One more thing: I contacted the seller on eBay named 'gaming-zone' regarding his unlock for the G2/HTC desire Z/Vision and apparently the code I initially received from [email protected] would have been the same exact one he would have given me. This leads me to believe all unlock codes come from the same data base which all unlock sites have access to.
I'm being told by many eBay unlockers new database have been uploaded. It will be in supernew records. Form what they told me there are old records (cheap) useless, new records ( $10-$15), supernew records ( $20-$30).

yea, i contacted the eBay seller, and i was told the unlock code i received from [email protected] IS the same exact unlock code he would have sold me. He also said he had the newest database.
Im not saying the unlock codes arent authentic or anything like that, it's just very peculiar why the "requesting network unlock..." step doesnt finalize.
The only person that i know of with a supposedly successful G2 unlock is fellow member "k0shi" who said his/her code came from Tmobile directly.
see it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8497696&postcount=6
I found this odd because i contacted Tmobile USA on October 6th, and was told the G2's unlock information isn't even registered in their systems, and then to wait and try again in 2 weeks....

You're right T mobile system is not set up yet for G2 unlock. Try calling T mobile again. Some reps know how to submit unlock request manually. After few tries I got a rep to submit the request but next day they send me email that this is new account and I'm not eligible and I have to wait 90 days.

I tried them on October 4th, and had to pay $15.99 by credit card. The next day i received this email from htcunlockshop.com:
"Dear Customer,
Sorry I have been unable to generate the correct unlock code for your mobile. There are so many mobile out there sometimes the firmware on certain versions mean I cant generate the code.
I have sent your details over the accounts team who will send you a refund. Although normally quicker please allow up to 7 days for the refund to get back into your account.
Once again I apologise for not being able to get the correct code for your mobile. Your only option may be your network operator or a local shop who can unlock via a cable.
Best Regards,
htcunlockshop.com"
you may have better luck with them since it's now October 8th, but waiting 7 days for a refund is retarded.
That's so odd I got called tmo asked for the code and got it the next day in a email my phone has been unlocked since the offical release (I got the phone 2 days earlier)
When you punch in the code make sure you type it with the keyboard open and leave it open till after it restarts or it won't work.

I'm brand new to the HTC phones, having just replaced my PIECE OF JUNK Treo 700w with the shiny new 8525. I am based in the US, but travel frequently to Western Europe, UK, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Australia (with possible trips to UAE). One reason for my switch to the Cingular 8525 is to be able to take it with me and not borrow or lease phones for traveling.
However, I am completely confused about the best way to travel with my phone (other than paying Cingular for roaming charges). Is there a FAQ somewhere on this site where I can learn more about world travel with this phone? Specificially, I am trying to answer questions like:
1. Can I use a pre-paid SIM in my destination country, or do I need to "unlock" the phone first?
2. How will my Cingular data plan work when I am abroad? (will it?).
3. I am assuming that if buy a pre-paid SIM, that it will assign a new "local" number to my phone, right? If so, how can I continue to receive SMS messages to my old number?
4. If I buy a pre-paid SIM, I assume it changes my data plan - will I need to reconfigure my Activesync settings to continue receiving my corporate emails?
Any other comments, suggestions, or tips about traveling with the Hermes/8525/Tyn phone would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
1. Most networks subsidise the cost of the handset and lock it to their network so yes, you will most likely need the hadnset unlocked.
2. It won't as I don't think you can find the Cingular GPRS access point when roaming internationally
3. That's correct, so you won't be able to recieve SMS to your old number since it's a different number, on a difference service and a different SIM.
4. Push email you will need to reconfigure but just synching through Activesync will work.

Hmm.. I think it might, as Cingular posts a "travel planner" at http://www.cingular.com/travelguide that seems to show the availability of data access in most countries, depending on the carrier. I note, however, that the rate for data access is $0.02 per kilobyte!
Which raises another question - I am configured for direct push from our corporate exchange server. Is it possible to sync via WiFi? (in other words, disable automatic sync over the 3G/GPRS/UMTS network and only do it manually when I am on a WiFi network). I didn't think this worked, but last night I was playing around, and forcing a sync seemed to happen a LOT faster when I was on my WiFi network...
As to unlocking, I called Cingular last night, and they told me they would give me an unlock code, but it takes about 5 days to get. Since my first destination is Korea for a couple of days (where no US cell phones work) that might work, rather than risking my warranty with someone's hack...
Thanks again for the post
your Hermes WILL work in Korea (as they have WCDMA and your Hermes has WCDMA). I recently had a brief stopover at Incheon airport, and my TyTN did work.
Interesting. It may be that Cingular has no roaming agreements with the local carriers, since there are so few non-korean phones that work there. (much like Japan, which I understand the 8525/Hermes is the first US phone to work there as well)
By the way, interestingly enough, when I called Cingular International support to enable Int'l roaming and their "global traveler" roaming program ($5.99 a month to save about $0.40 per minute while roaming), I asked about using pre-paid SIM cards in foreign markets. They said "sure, but you'll have to unlock your phone first". When I asked if they could help, they transferred my call to someone who asked me for my IMEI number, which I gave him. Two minutes later he gave me the unlock code. Probably saved me two hours of reading forum posts, downloading hacks, and twiddling with my phone.
I just need a non-Cingular SIM to actually be able to input the unlock code...
Moved this thread to the hermes section.
Can you post the number that you used to get your phone unlocked so that we can add that to wiki.
The number for Cingular International Roaming Support is 800-335-4685 (or outside the USA it is +1 916 843 4685)
Based on the conversation I had with the people there, I believe that enabling the "GLobal Traveler" plan for $5.99 a month is a requirement for them to provide you with an unlock code. Also, when I called they said that they "might be able to do it right away on the phone" but that it normally takes about 5 days to get the unlock code. I guess I got lucky in that he was able to retrieve the number immediately. (and it was a Saturday)
Hope that is useful
added that info to wiki, thanks for the input
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_SimUnlock
I called to the above mentioned number and basically got the same info. Additional info i got is
1) You do not need 5.99$ international traveller plan, you can get free international traveller plan (only difference is you pay 2.49$/min instead of 2.29$ with plan)
2) Unlock code can be used only for 5 times, if you don't get it right in those 5 trials you phone is locked permenantly to cingular (as per cingular rep)
Quick update from the road.. Yes, the 8525 worked flawlessly in Korea - The plane landed, I powered the unit on, and VOILA! I had my emails.. Same in Hong Kong and Macau. However, in none of those markets does caller ID or voice mail work. I am currently in Sydney, Australia, and here the voice mail and caller idea work just as in the USA.
One thing to note - as many of you know, to dial overseas on a cell phone you have to use the "+" key before the country code. This was driving me crazy, because my contacts did not all have + signs and I was manually adding them as necessary, which was incredibly tedious. Also I could not figure out how to dial a + sign from the keypad (it sits there on the "0" key, so I KNEW there was a way somehow!). Then I figured it out - you have to press and HOLD the "0" key to get the "+" sign. Then you can dial normally.
The biggest problem with this phone so far is that I can't find a case for it anywhere in shops...

Yes, I saw that one yesterday at a shop here in Sydney, but the cut-outs on the sides were in the wrong places for the Hermes. They had the newer dopod unit (Hermes based) but not the equivalent cover for it. The shopkeeper told me that it would be some time before the case was available since the new dopod unit just came out... It does look like a perfect case.

Cool idea, but also requires one to have a GPS receiver linked up and running the whole time... I can imagine that would drain the Hermes' battery very quickly.

I do a lot of traveling world wide too. I had the blackjack, cingular told me it would work in Japan...but when i got there...no luck.
The above respond said..the 8525 would work in japan....how do i confirm this...and what frequency does it operate under?
I noticed that carriers are giving people less hassle lately when requesting to unlock their phones. I wonder if this has anything to do with the library of congress exempting phone unlocking from the copyright law (basically they said we paid for the phone we should be able to use it wherever we want).

I have the Cingular 8525, and I travel world wide with it. With my experience so far, it worked in any GSM area like UK, Europe, Brazil and Argentina, plus JAPAN(non-GSM) flawlessly. In Tokyo, it was roaming with NTT Do Co Mo network. Both voice and date. It is the BEST global phone I have ever had, hands down!!
You must call Cingular before you travel abroad to "activate" the international roaming for your account. The roaming charges are not cheap but it works

Using the SOFTBANK X01HT internationally
On a somewhat related vein, I live in South Korea, but I travel to Japan and the States frequently. I recently purchased the Softbank X01HT. I've got it totally unlocked, SuperCID and loaded with WM6 - Black Edition (very sweet BTW). I am looking for the best option to be able to use it primarily in Korea.
I asked SK Telecom if they could help, and I got a deer in the headlights look. I've read on many forums and web sites that KTF has all the same services this phone has, but until recently their phones were locked. Apparently they have just recently made it so you can swap out USIMs amongst KTF phones. However, there again when I ask about a USIM I get that look again (In all fairness I haven't been to the KTF store yet).
Can anyone provide some advice?
Also, I purchased a pre-paid T-Mobile card for a trip to Chicago next week. Would I be better off going with the Cingular service or will that work just fine?
TMO and Cingular will work in the US. TMO does not have 3g here in the US. So if you are needing fast data, use cingular
There is no need to buy any plan from cingular to have them unlock your phone. The only requirement Cingular has is that you have bought the phone from them more then 3 months ago. Then you just have to call up customer service, tell them you want them to sim unlock your phone because you are traveling abroad and would like to use prepaid phone sims in other countries. They tell you they will email you the unlock code within a week but they never did - I had to call them back but they gave it to me over the phone no problem.
Just want to share a tip to unlock the Wing for free.
The requirement is an active T-mobile account for more than six month. Simply call T-Mobile customer service and ask for unlock the network blocking. They will ask for the IMEI number and your email address to send you the unlock code. This may takes a few days, but it’s free.
When doing this, please use other phones than your wing or have your IMEI number ready. The IMEI number is locate under the battery or you can just type in *#06# on your phone.
It’s my understanding that this can be done on any type of T-Mobile phone and it can be done once every 3 (or maybe 4) months per account.
Good luck.

Takes a couple of days. The e-mail will be rendered in HTML that some e-mail programs won't display. Check the raw source if your unlock e-mail appears empty.

Check under the battery. Typing *#06# on your Wing will give two digits too many. My actual IMEI ends in 3, whereas dialing *#06# gives an IMEI with two digits more, ending in 301, much to the consternation of the customer service guy, and much too my embarassment, seeing how I felt ever so smart by getting the IMEI in advance by dialing *#06# and then calling from the Wing.
I actually paid $10.00 for this information on ebay. It does work though. T-Mobile sent me my Unlock Code within a few days.

Hello, I'm really sorry for disturbing You, but I'm quite desperate about my situation with my HTC Herald. I've found this topic which finally gave me the solution. I'm from Czech Republic in Europe and here in Czech republic there is no possibility to buy such mobile phone like this HTC so I decided to buy it from USA on Ebay.com. Finally I got my mobile but is blocked on US T-mobile network so it doesn't work here. Please, is anybody able to help me? I don't have any relative or friend in USA. I just want to ask You for help, if You could call to US T-mobile operator and tell them to unlock mobile phone with this IMEI: 352862016668037. I would be very happy, if You could help me, because I don't know what to do now. Thank You very much for Your help

Unfortunately, calling with a IMEI number to get it unlocked wont work.
They know the IMEI number by you simply calling in, its built into the phone and carried over the network when you call them. I think the only chance you have at getting it unlocked it to sell it, and buy an unlocked version, or, pay someone to unlock it for you.
I have bought a phone (HTC P4350) from someone and it say that it is connected to the network called "Proximus". This is a Belgium network and I am in the Nherlands. I have set my country and network in the network settings to netherlands and T-Mobile but still it connects to the "Proximus" network. I can call and can be called. Am I using the "Proximus" network or my own T-Mobile network? Can someone also tell me if my phone is still sim locked or cid locked? I really prefer to have my phone connected to T-Mobile network automatically.
Thanks in advance.

how to i unlocked my wing from t-mobile?
t-mobile can track my emei number to see my call records or see if my phone has been used and how do i stop that?

I would recommend finding a friend with tmo. Get the phone unlocked by calling cust service and getting the unlock code from their phone, get logged in and from that point you can adjust the APNs. There was somebody here talking about bypassing the initial login screen... I don't know about that but give it all a try.

Naa all they ask for is an IMEI. A customer in good standing can get an unlock code every 90 days. Has your friend (hypothetical at this point) received an unlock code for any phone in the past 90 days?
Try it, have your friend call and say that he bought a G1 full price from the store because the rep said if he did they would provide an unlock code and then he could use it when he went to Germany next week.
On a side note, the G1's ARE actually locked? I had heard from the rumor mill that they shipped unlocked.

From what I was told at the store and confirmed by Tmobile CC, There are no G1's being sold at full price right now. You have to buy it with a new contract or upgrade. Meaning they aren't going to let you unlock these until they start selling them with no contract... or after 90 days from the 22nd.
The story from T-Mobile, and my current wait for a SIM unlock code.

Those statements seem to be incorrect.
I am an ATT user.
I have been told that there are officially two scenarios for acquiring a SIM unlock code for a T-mobile device:
1. A device is purchased full price by a non customer, and T-Mobile requires (at least in the case of the G1) the outsider to FAX an image of the proof of ownership or receipt from the store. The SLA for delivering the SIM unlock code is one week.
2. A device is purchased full price by a customer in good standing for the past 90 days, and the customer can expect delivery the SIM unlock code within 24 hours.
I am an ATT user and purchased a G1 yesterday at the 3rd Street store in San Francisco and was offered no resistance by the SRs at that (particularly well-stocked) store.
I arranged to share the device with a friend who uses T-Mobile, and together we completed a call-in request to T-Mobile support at 1-877-453-1304 to obtain by e-mail a SIM unlock code for the device to go along with the IMEI number beneath the G1's battery.
The SR on the telephone said that it would take "up to" 24 hours to complete the current request. I have in the past acquired such a SIM unlock code for a T-Mobile device, and received the appropriate e-mail message within four hours of completing the request.
I'm still waiting for the SIM unlock code and haven't received the e-mail message in the past 15 hours, but hope springs eternal.
Also, note that pre-paid customers seem to have *no* Unlock privileges as far as T-Mobile is concerned. I stepped through the process with a friend who buys minutes as she goes, and we were bounced several times between the regular service representatives and the prepaid SRs, getting language barrier, slow comprehension and shallow knowledge from these professionals on every front. They were nice about things, though.
Yes it works on AT&T after unlocking

I am aware that 3G does not work on AT&T, but for the GSM to work, we need the Unlock Code and also change the APN to cingular APN to enter the google account username and password. Has any one able to use it with AT&T ? I bought the phone on ebay but now its sitting in home doing nothing.

Hi, I did the same. I bought the phone from ebay and then got the unlock code from ebay. We just have to change the APN settings and everything is working fine (of course except 3G). Usually getting the unlock code takes a day or two.
Alternately, if you want feel the phone, buy a T-Mobile SIM card for $10-$20 bucks and everything works fine. At least phone will get activated.
A reported shortcut that obviates the need to get a SIM unlock code.
I just saw Matt Buchanan post this on Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/5068242/use-the-t+mobile-g1-without-activating-itl
"If you don't wanna spring for the two-year contract or wait out the 90 days 'til T-Mobile will unlock the G1 for you, getting it going without actually activating it is remarkably easy. Just snag an active T-Mobile SIM card from a friend (or foe), pop it in to get through the setup process, and after enabling Wi-Fi, you can drop it like it's hot. 'Course, it won't make any phone calls, but that's not why you wanted a G1 anyway, right?"

Just spoke with a T-Mo rep. For ME, I have to wait until the end of the 14 days buyer's remorse period to get my unlock code, it is provided within 24 hours of the request being made.
Upgrade status does not affect unlock codes, I was right with what I said before. You can request an unlock code every 90 days if your account is in good standing. After the 14 days buyer's remorse period has expired you may request an unlock code.
@rameshb_v Find a friend and have him/her do as I said above, tell the rep on the phone that the phone was purchased full price. In the past I had heard it rumored that sometimes they request proof of purchase, I don't know about it. I am unlocking mine at the end of the 14 day period. If your friend cant get it done for some reason you can have anyone on this forum that is willing call in with your IMEI and have "their" phone unlocked after the 14 day remorse period.

Ah! Did you get it from a rep? If so what strategy did you use? I got blackballed with the 14 day thing.
I've been a Tmo customer since 1999(VoiceStream). I told him I wanted to get my unlock code. He requested it from HTC like they usually do. Then I got my email 2 days later. It is usually 24 hours this one took a little longer. That was all...
It was all via T-Mobile representative...
Does anyone have the unlock code or a way to hack the G1????
i got my unlock code the same day i got the phone... and i've only been a tmobile customer for (as of today) 3 days now.

I noticed after the update it started giving me a download option... I am wondering if this has to do with the network issues. Everytime I download it seems to download just fine... Do you think maybe whatever they sent you isn't compatible yet?
possibly..i applied the update..incoming mms wasnt letting me download before then either..
i have tested something else too..seems i can get mms from other tmobile users...just not from outside networks...weirddd
Hi there,
I did some searching a few days ago on here, and saw some people saying they had success with HTCGate for unlocking.
So I paid my money and gave them my IMEI and waited... and waited... and ... still waiting, not a peep from them, fired off an email yesterday but no reply.
My HD2 is currently locked to O2 UK, and i'm moving my SIM over to vodafone this week so really need to find somewhere *reliable* online who can unlock it quickly?
Any recommendations from people who've actually had it done?
Many thanks
I used www.unlockitnow.com to unlock my HD2. I was on T-Mobile.
Unlocked code delivered successfully in less than 8 hours.
ccristal
Thanks Ccristal,
Have no ordered one with them, and hopefully will have more luck than the awful service at htcgate.
Where did you buy your HD2 from? If you got it from O2 directly, request an unlocking code from them. It'll take up to 28 days, but is free.
Got my code overnight from www.unlockitnow.com much better than the jokers at htcgate, thanks Ccristal

Unlocking Touch pro 2
Hello I am trying to get my sprint TP2 to work on all US GSM services such as T-Mobile and ATT can anyone help me?
Erm, see above ^^ !?
Hi, I used HTCGATE.COM last night, paid at 6pm and was unlocked by 7pm.
The e-mails from them went into my hotmail junk-mail folder - maybe you want to check there? Hope it works out for you either way.
Over the last six weeks or so I have seen a lot of posts suggesting contacting O2 to get the HD2 'SIM unlocked' for free.
I was just wondering if anyone has actually received a code back from O2?
I applied via the online form on O2's website about six weeks ago and am still waiting for a code!
About a week ago I wrote to them asking why I haven't received my code yet (inluding the reference number I received back from them originally).
After about 3 days, they wrote back asking me for additional information (which I had already provided in the online form). I gave them this information and was told that they would submit my request to their Support Team IF I sent them another email requesting them to do it. But that it could take up to 28 days (ie ANOTHER 28 days!) for me to receive my code.
It looks to me as if O2 have no real intention of providing this code are are counting on the fact that most people will give up eventually...
Of course, if other members have received unlock codes back from O2, it could just be that I have been 'unlucky'. Hence my request for others to report back their experiences...

Thanks for that, Kai.
I have had the O2 SIM in my HD2 the whole time, so that's not the problem.
However, having read some of the posts on that thread, it struck me that I was never asked to provide my IMEI number!
They don't request it on the 'unlock form' and I'm pretty sure they didn't ask for it when I spoke to the guy on the phone about it.
I'm going to phone them tomorrow to chase them. No doubt they will tell me now that is the reason they could not provide a code!
Are you sure? If I remember correctly, you cannot submit the unlock request form without providing an IMEI number? (It's because of the issue that the HD2 supplies you with a 17 digit IMEI number when you type in *#06# - but the web form will only allow you to enter 15 digitis for the IMEI).
Are you sure you went to the correct place to request your unlock code? It can be found here:

I had my iPhone unlocked by them using that unlock request form. It took about 2 weeks before I got an SMS confirming it had been unlocked. The O2 SIM was in the phone the whole time.

That's definitely the form I used, Kai.
However, I'm not completely sure that I didn't provide the IMEI number. I just don't remember being asked to provide it. It WAS 6 weeks ago after all!
As you can see, it is not requested on the first page of the form, but maybe there was a 2nd page...
Anyway, I'll give them a ring tomorrow and see what excuses they have to make.
I really just wanted to see if it was only me or whether everyone was having the same experience. So "Thank you" to everyone who has replied to say that it worked for them (Well, to you and _Belial, anyway...!)
Satayu Basu - htcgate.com Take care. I payed, I received one code but not working (Invalid unlock code). I am trying to contact them but no answer. So I've lost my 20$ and my vodafone Romania Leo is still locked
O2 dragging their feet on SIM unlock for HD2???
Update 18 Jan...
1. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - was told that system was down, please call back later!
2. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... was asked to wait while agent checked notes - agent cut me off!
3. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent cut me off as soon as I mentioned the word "unlatching" (O2's word for SIM unlocking)!
4. Phoned O2 Customer Service... waited in queue... spoke to agent - explained situation... agent had never heard of 'unlatching'!... talked agent through the whole process... the best the agent could offer was to fill out another request form and advise me that it could take 'up to 28 days' before I receive my code!
It's a good job that a) I don't desperately need my phone unlocked and b) I know that sooner or later it will be available on this forum...
be patient. i received my unlock code off o2 eventually. was more than 28 days but i now have an unlocked HD2 which didn't cost a penny to do. as is mentioned make sure you edit and get the imei right. also it is emailed rather than text to you so make sure you get that right and don't stick a fake one down.
Thanks for that, Optiknerv.
It's interesting that you say you received your code via email as elsewhere I have heard it comes via SMS.
I did fill in my genuine email address on the form and I received a confirmation email to that address afterwards. However, what is interesting is that the third agent I spoke to quoted some email address I've never heard of ([email protected]) as the email address stored on the 'system'. This appears to be some internally generated address from O2 as the xxxxxxxxx is my name followed by about 6 digits! I haven'y got a clue as to how to access this account as it has nothing to do with my 'My O2' account!
I asked him to update my account with my correct address, just in case...
I have read in another thread that the HD2 doesn't need a CID unlock like my Topaz did for SIM unlock. The HSPL would do this for HD2!
Well first thing I would like to know is: Is this true?
Second thing is: If this is true, it is also true for T-Mobile US HD2?
Thanks.

Hi. What I do know is that you can get the sim unlock code from T-mobile. I just called them yesterday and asked for a unlock code. They said emailing me the code in 24 hrs. Hopefully they will do.
Is anyone besides me just a little annoyed at the people who say "I just talked to T-Mobile and I should have my code in 24hrs" but not one post actually saying they received their code and their phone is unlocked?
Why even bother posting?
I've been with T-Mobile for years, and they have provided an unlock code for me a number of times. You just have to request one. It used to be that you'd need to have been with them for 90 days, now it's 14 days after you've bought the device or signed a new contract.
Here is the email I got from Tmobile..
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: XXXXXXXX
IMEI: 3XXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have forwarded your request to the manufacturer. These requests normally take 24-48 hours, but may sometimes take longer based on circumstances that are not under our control. Please allow 14 days before submitting a duplicate request. If no response has been received after 14 days, please submit a new request.
NOTE: Since T-Mobile is requesting an unlock code from the manufacturer we cannot guarantee the response time or that a unlock code will be provided.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department

excuse me for being noob, but what do we do with the code after recieveing it?
are we supposed to plug it in somewhere?

Wtf, I called in my request March 25th, and I didn't even get a confirmation email. I called them two times in between, and was told first time wait 24 hours, 2nd time wait 78 hours. I've been on pre-paid sim for over 2 months now too.
my friend still hasnt got his code from T-Mobile..he is getting pissed...i can use my hd2 with all its glory but hes limited to wifi..and let me add it was hell trying to get these phones ugh...but it was so worth the highspeed drives to 2 different towns outside of Houston, Tx..man so worth it lols
I've had three phones unlocked by tmobile. just call them and tell them you're going abroad and you need you phone unlocked. i do not think they will unlock it soon as you get it. the email said you have to have been on the tmobile plan for at least 90 days before requesting unlock code. make sure you verify 3 times your IMEiwith the operators because I've had them get it wrong a few times. its frustrating and delays you getting your code. if all goes well, you get it in bout 24 hours.
I did request and RECEIVED unlock code from TMobile for about 10 times w/o much problem. Those code DO work and you dont need to reenter them after soft/hard reset.
They DO check that you are with them for 90 days. In fact you can request 1 unlock code every 90 days. Just call and tell that you are going overseas and need your phone to be unlocked. They will try to offer you those terrible "international" deals. Deny them, nothing beats local SIM
As been said - verify IMEI code and your phone model several times with TMO Rep, because couple times they DID send me wrong codes.
They send you email with unlock code and ALSO unlock INSTRUCTIONS specific for your phone.

If you've purchased outright and are a current pre/postpaid customer, there's not waiting period, as listed on their policy.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
My problem is a little different. I'm intending to buy a HD2 from T-mobile while in US this April, BUT I'm from Brazil and I do not intend to have a plan with T-Mobile US. I would like to have my HD2 unlocked so I could use it in Brazil, if TMOUS can't do it or won't do it because I won't have a plan with them, how can I do it? Does anyone know a unlock store in Miami ou Orlando?
I'm not willing to do it from internet sites, I really don't trust them to give my IMEI.
Thanks.

I don't have an account with Tmo... I bought the phne outright, faxed them the reciept and recieved the code 48 hours later via email
I thought I might have to wait for the 14 day buyers remorse period but that was not the case.
I guess it helped that I told them I live in Canada and could not go back to the USA to return the phone anyways

I paid for my phone in full from a T-Mobile dealer. I have ATT and I told their phone rep this when I called TMo. They painlessly provided me with the unlock code after I faxed a copy of my receipt of purchase. The code works perfectly fine and the phone connected to ATT immediately.

My heart has just broke, The HTC HD2 will NOT work on Bell Mobility Network, if you want this phone is Canada you must have a Rogers Card. I put it my friends Rogers Sim card and it worked, my Bell Sim does not.
My loss will be some other Canadian's gain.... I will be selling it (tear)
