I am aware that 3G does not work on AT&T, but for the GSM to work, we need the Unlock Code and also change the APN to cingular APN to enter the google account username and password. Has any one able to use it with AT&T ? I bought the phone on ebay but now its sitting in home doing nothing.

I would recommend finding a friend with tmo. Get the phone unlocked by calling cust service and getting the unlock code from their phone, get logged in and from that point you can adjust the APNs. There was somebody here talking about bypassing the initial login screen... I don't know about that but give it all a try.

Thank you. But I heard that we need 90 days of service to get the unlock code for G1. Is that true ? Also the G1 should be under my friends account to get the unlock code.

Naa all they ask for is an IMEI. A customer in good standing can get an unlock code every 90 days. Has your friend (hypothetical at this point) received an unlock code for any phone in the past 90 days?
Try it, have your friend call and say that he bought a G1 full price from the store because the rep said if he did they would provide an unlock code and then he could use it when he went to Germany next week.
On a side note, the G1's ARE actually locked? I had heard from the rumor mill that they shipped unlocked.

From what I was told at the store and confirmed by Tmobile CC, There are no G1's being sold at full price right now. You have to buy it with a new contract or upgrade. Meaning they aren't going to let you unlock these until they start selling them with no contract... or after 90 days from the 22nd.
The story from T-Mobile, and my current wait for a SIM unlock code.

Those statements seem to be incorrect.
I am an ATT user.
I have been told that there are officially two scenarios for acquiring a SIM unlock code for a T-mobile device:
1. A device is purchased full price by a non customer, and T-Mobile requires (at least in the case of the G1) the outsider to FAX an image of the proof of ownership or receipt from the store. The SLA for delivering the SIM unlock code is one week.
2. A device is purchased full price by a customer in good standing for the past 90 days, and the customer can expect delivery the SIM unlock code within 24 hours.
I am an ATT user and purchased a G1 yesterday at the 3rd Street store in San Francisco and was offered no resistance by the SRs at that (particularly well-stocked) store.
I arranged to share the device with a friend who uses T-Mobile, and together we completed a call-in request to T-Mobile support at 1-877-453-1304 to obtain by e-mail a SIM unlock code for the device to go along with the IMEI number beneath the G1's battery.
The SR on the telephone said that it would take "up to" 24 hours to complete the current request. I have in the past acquired such a SIM unlock code for a T-Mobile device, and received the appropriate e-mail message within four hours of completing the request.
I'm still waiting for the SIM unlock code and haven't received the e-mail message in the past 15 hours, but hope springs eternal.
Also, note that pre-paid customers seem to have *no* Unlock privileges as far as T-Mobile is concerned. I stepped through the process with a friend who buys minutes as she goes, and we were bounced several times between the regular service representatives and the prepaid SRs, getting language barrier, slow comprehension and shallow knowledge from these professionals on every front. They were nice about things, though.
Yes it works on AT&T after unlocking

Hi, I did the same. I bought the phone from ebay and then got the unlock code from ebay. We just have to change the APN settings and everything is working fine (of course except 3G). Usually getting the unlock code takes a day or two.
Alternately, if you want feel the phone, buy a T-Mobile SIM card for $10-$20 bucks and everything works fine. At least phone will get activated.
A reported shortcut that obviates the need to get a SIM unlock code.
I just saw Matt Buchanan post this on Gizmodo: http://gizmodo.com/5068242/use-the-t+mobile-g1-without-activating-itl
"If you don't wanna spring for the two-year contract or wait out the 90 days 'til T-Mobile will unlock the G1 for you, getting it going without actually activating it is remarkably easy. Just snag an active T-Mobile SIM card from a friend (or foe), pop it in to get through the setup process, and after enabling Wi-Fi, you can drop it like it's hot. 'Course, it won't make any phone calls, but that's not why you wanted a G1 anyway, right?"

Just spoke with a T-Mo rep. For ME, I have to wait until the end of the 14 days buyer's remorse period to get my unlock code, it is provided within 24 hours of the request being made.
Upgrade status does not affect unlock codes, I was right with what I said before. You can request an unlock code every 90 days if your account is in good standing. After the 14 days buyer's remorse period has expired you may request an unlock code.
@rameshb_v Find a friend and have him/her do as I said above, tell the rep on the phone that the phone was purchased full price. In the past I had heard it rumored that sometimes they request proof of purchase, I don't know about it. I am unlocking mine at the end of the 14 day period. If your friend cant get it done for some reason you can have anyone on this forum that is willing call in with your IMEI and have "their" phone unlocked after the 14 day remorse period.

Ah! Did you get it from a rep? If so what strategy did you use? I got blackballed with the 14 day thing.
I've been a Tmo customer since 1999(VoiceStream). I told him I wanted to get my unlock code. He requested it from HTC like they usually do. Then I got my email 2 days later. It is usually 24 hours this one took a little longer. That was all...
It was all via T-Mobile representative...
Does anyone have the unlock code or a way to hack the G1????
i got my unlock code the same day i got the phone... and i've only been a tmobile customer for (as of today) 3 days now.
military perks
MMS problems? APN Settings also
whenever i receive a picture message from someone...there is a download button on the right side..whenver i press it i get an error telling me it could not download the message.
checked tmobiles support forums..nothing there for a solution..
any ideas?
check auto-retrieve box in mms settings.
that is checked already..i can send a message to myself..but incoming messages dont work. i was able to get them on my free POS nokia haha

I noticed after the update it started giving me a download option... I am wondering if this has to do with the network issues. Everytime I download it seems to download just fine... Do you think maybe whatever they sent you isn't compatible yet?
possibly..i applied the update..incoming mms wasnt letting me download before then either..
i have tested something else too..seems i can get mms from other tmobile users...just not from outside networks...weirddd

I have read in another thread that the HD2 doesn't need a CID unlock like my Topaz did for SIM unlock. The HSPL would do this for HD2!
Well first thing I would like to know is: Is this true?
Second thing is: If this is true, it is also true for T-Mobile US HD2?
Thanks.

Hi. What I do know is that you can get the sim unlock code from T-mobile. I just called them yesterday and asked for a unlock code. They said emailing me the code in 24 hrs. Hopefully they will do.
Is anyone besides me just a little annoyed at the people who say "I just talked to T-Mobile and I should have my code in 24hrs" but not one post actually saying they received their code and their phone is unlocked?
Why even bother posting?
I've been with T-Mobile for years, and they have provided an unlock code for me a number of times. You just have to request one. It used to be that you'd need to have been with them for 90 days, now it's 14 days after you've bought the device or signed a new contract.
Here is the email I got from Tmobile..
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: XXXXXXXX
IMEI: 3XXXXXXXXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. We have forwarded your request to the manufacturer. These requests normally take 24-48 hours, but may sometimes take longer based on circumstances that are not under our control. Please allow 14 days before submitting a duplicate request. If no response has been received after 14 days, please submit a new request.
NOTE: Since T-Mobile is requesting an unlock code from the manufacturer we cannot guarantee the response time or that a unlock code will be provided.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department

excuse me for being noob, but what do we do with the code after recieveing it?
are we supposed to plug it in somewhere?

Wtf, I called in my request March 25th, and I didn't even get a confirmation email. I called them two times in between, and was told first time wait 24 hours, 2nd time wait 78 hours. I've been on pre-paid sim for over 2 months now too.
my friend still hasnt got his code from T-Mobile..he is getting pissed...i can use my hd2 with all its glory but hes limited to wifi..and let me add it was hell trying to get these phones ugh...but it was so worth the highspeed drives to 2 different towns outside of Houston, Tx..man so worth it lols
I've had three phones unlocked by tmobile. just call them and tell them you're going abroad and you need you phone unlocked. i do not think they will unlock it soon as you get it. the email said you have to have been on the tmobile plan for at least 90 days before requesting unlock code. make sure you verify 3 times your IMEiwith the operators because I've had them get it wrong a few times. its frustrating and delays you getting your code. if all goes well, you get it in bout 24 hours.
I did request and RECEIVED unlock code from TMobile for about 10 times w/o much problem. Those code DO work and you dont need to reenter them after soft/hard reset.
They DO check that you are with them for 90 days. In fact you can request 1 unlock code every 90 days. Just call and tell that you are going overseas and need your phone to be unlocked. They will try to offer you those terrible "international" deals. Deny them, nothing beats local SIM
As been said - verify IMEI code and your phone model several times with TMO Rep, because couple times they DID send me wrong codes.
They send you email with unlock code and ALSO unlock INSTRUCTIONS specific for your phone.

If you've purchased outright and are a current pre/postpaid customer, there's not waiting period, as listed on their policy.
Thanks for all the replies guys.
My problem is a little different. I'm intending to buy a HD2 from T-mobile while in US this April, BUT I'm from Brazil and I do not intend to have a plan with T-Mobile US. I would like to have my HD2 unlocked so I could use it in Brazil, if TMOUS can't do it or won't do it because I won't have a plan with them, how can I do it? Does anyone know a unlock store in Miami ou Orlando?
I'm not willing to do it from internet sites, I really don't trust them to give my IMEI.
Thanks.

Hey guys just an update, I got this email today trying the unlock code and it worked.... I am now using my HTC HD2 on the Bell network in canada
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: XXXXXXX
IMEI: XXXXXXXXXX
Unlock Code: XXXXXX
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your HTC device.
1. Insert the foreign SIM card
2. Power on the device and the display should read "Please input unlock code"
3. Enter the unlock code and the device should display "Phone is unlocked."
4. Allow the phone to scan the network (or manually click on the antenna icon to do this)
It is very important that the instructions and SIM unlock code are entered correctly as listed. If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Care for support.

I don't have an account with Tmo... I bought the phne outright, faxed them the reciept and recieved the code 48 hours later via email
I thought I might have to wait for the 14 day buyers remorse period but that was not the case.
I guess it helped that I told them I live in Canada and could not go back to the USA to return the phone anyways

I paid for my phone in full from a T-Mobile dealer. I have ATT and I told their phone rep this when I called TMo. They painlessly provided me with the unlock code after I faxed a copy of my receipt of purchase. The code works perfectly fine and the phone connected to ATT immediately.
No problems whatsoever.

My heart has just broke, The HTC HD2 will NOT work on Bell Mobility Network, if you want this phone is Canada you must have a Rogers Card. I put it my friends Rogers Sim card and it worked, my Bell Sim does not.
My loss will be some other Canadian's gain.... I will be selling it (tear)
So I bought my HD2 2 weeks after they came out. Shortly after I tried buying an unlock code for my phone because t-mobiles service in my area is kind of come and go. Unfortunatly I have one of the 35777 Phones so after 4 attempts with 4 different sites failing at getting a code, I tried emailing tmobile to see if they would give me a code as they already told me they dont have service in my area. They told me to fax them a copy of my invoice proving I paid full price for the thing, so I did. About a week later they got back to me and said that due to the fact that I bought it from a site that was not one of their approved retailers I couldnt get an unlock code. So about a week and a half ago I went to a tmobile store and got the darn thing setup anyways. I get some service in this area, just not much. Now about 3 days ago, I get an email from t-mobile that looks like this:
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: *******
IMEI: 35777*********
Unlock Code: ********

I kind of find this a bit odd. They tell me I cant get the number, then about a month later they randomly mail it to me anyway.
sounds kind of odd... have you always had tmobile or did you just sign up to purchase the hd2?
Neither, I had at&t before, Wanted to buy it and unlock it to use with at&t but in the process realized at&t's service is a bit of a ripoff. Atleast it is with standard plans. Wanted to try and use my hd2 with a gophone card but it doesnt seem to want to work.
Probably a silly question but I have the following problem:
I have 3 cards (Orange and 2 x T-Mobile). When I put either T-Mobile SIM in my phone, it requests a SIM network unlock PIN. I have the option of entering this in or clicking a dismiss button which will take me pass this screen but doesn't register onto the GSM network. This doesn't happen on my Orange SIM as this registers straight away onto the GSM network.
All 3 SIM cards do not request a PIN when I use them with two other phones that I have (HTC Hero and HTC TyTn 2).
On the SGS I have tried the pins 0000, 12345 and 1234 which are default PINs that I recall. I've checked the manual for the SGS and the literature that came with my T-Mobile SIM card and neither give any hints about a default PIN or about a SIM network unlock PIN.
I'm not sure if the PIN request is coming from the phone or the SIM card. I'm guessing it's coming from the phone but I don't know why it doesn't request this when I use my Orange SIM card.
I purchased the phone SIM free. The Orange SIM is a PAYG and the two T-Mobile SIMs are pay monthly contracts. I know all 3 SIMs work without PINs in my other phone.
Can anyone help? I'm assuming I'm missing something really simple but can't figure out what. I've already tried a dozen google searches with no luck. Please please help. I feel I'm being deprived of my 2 hour old SGS phone
I've now taken a video of the boot up sequence to show you what it looks like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3D-RvvCK2bM
Can anyone confirm or refute whether this is happening on their SGS too? It seems like it's a Security Code on the handset but I can't find any setting for such a code.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I purchases it from handtec. I don't think it is Sim free for the following reasons:
1. It was listed as Sim free
2. The box it came in also seems to indicate it is Sim free
3. There is no carrier logo on the phone or anything it came with
4. Seems to work with my Orange Sim card (which implies the phone came from orange if it was Sim free and this phone hasn't been released on Orange).
I'm guessing by the single thread reply that no one else has come into this issue before? And it's probably not just a simple default security code?
I don't know if this will help, but when I was asked for a sim code on a new Nokia phone, about two years ago, I rang Voda and asked for the pin code. In your case you would need to ask T Mobile.
I have the exact same issue with my Galaxy from Handtec which arrived today. I hope they aren't selling sim-locked phones as sim-free... Time to call Voda...
Ok, apparently it's a known issue. Just spoke to handtec, they say they got a batch of phones from Samsung which are locked to Orange. Call them for a replacement/refund. Don't mess about with the phone support line, it just points you to the website and disconnects you, call them and speak to sales. 01733 298500

Ah ok, that makes sense and which is why my Orange SIM card worked but not T-Mobile. I may have come to this conclusion if I had a Vodafone and O2 SIM knocking about.
Thanks for the info. Will be returning the phone for a replacement.

@n4nick: It appears as though you were right although the phone doesn't look like an Orange locked phone. Orange are notorious for plastering their big ugly logo on the physical phone and all over the software. They even put their logo on the box, accessories and manuals. This phone really looks like a SIM free version.
I wonder if the Orange locked batch were due to go to Orange for them to do their usual carrier differentiation before they then go out to customers.
Hi!, I've bought Samsung Galaxy S from handtec too and I get the same message: sim network unlock pin. I've just sent request to Handtec support.
What about you? Did you somehow unlock? Or did you change your phone?
Speak to Handtec about it and get a replacement or a refund as the item sent out is the wrong item. As mentioned previously, I believe the mistake was from Samsung as they sent a batch of Orange locked handsets as unlocked handsets which Handtec then sold accordingly. Handtec seem to be handling the whole mixup very well with good customer service so you should be ok.
Yeah I'm experiencing this issue as well. Phone worked fine for 7 days then today out of nowhere I get the SIM network unlock PIN alert upon startup. I contacted Handtec and this is all they had to say.
Thanks for your email,
Unfortunately this is an error with Samsung and we will require all of the items back, postage will be covered once back and confirmed it is an orange locked device but we will require this back to replace it for you.
Please advise,
Kind regards.

Legally they have to give you a full refund including the postage cost for both ways. Therefore you could purchase a new handset while you are in the process of getting a refund for the existing one. You'll know if it is an Orange locked phone because there was one or two Orange specific applications pre-installed on the phone.
If it was working before and not now then it's possible it could be a different issue though.
I work for t-mobile and samsung sent us some unbranded phones that were locked to orange by mistake. That chances are we wernt the only ones to receive them
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
had this problem myself on O2
went to store to use their phone to ring around (they were sorry)
after time on the line with O2 support they had no answers, so i rang samsung
samsung took literally seconds on the phone, i said about the 'sim network unlock pin' and he simply turned round and said its dead, a dead chipset thats in every phone they sent out in the last week, i was told this on friday 11th
samsung then spoke to the staff at the O2 store and advised them to mark all other galaxys they had as 'dead on arrival' and return them and for others to do the same
looks like a big batch issue so best thing u can do is send your dodgy one back like i have done, hopefully this replacement will work
I just got the Network Unlock PIN Message myself randomly after a reboot 7 days after purchase.
Has anyone tried using a TurboSIM to see if it works?
Sad thing is it was working one day and then broke the next.
Pretty bad that we have to pay postage to get their doa replaced. ( Specially considering that's about $50 for me. )
EDIT: Does anyone know what the STOCK firmware was when you got your handtec handset? ( From what I can tell it could be XXJF3. )
EDIT2: Success! After contacting Handtec they sent me a code to use, it seems to have permanently network unlocked my phone.
After a few emails with Handtec they were able to provide me with an unlock code after giving them my IMEI number. All is good again
I have a similar problem with T959 from TMobile USA. The phone was obviously locked to TMobile but I got the code from TMobile, entered it and phone was unlocked. My customer took home, used it for about a week and now the phone is network lock again and ask for network pin. So I enter the same code that was used to unlock it but now it DOES NOT work. So strange. But this happened before on other android phone and it worked, just re-enter the code. Anyone has a solution yet on this problem?
aaarrrggghhhh!
I have same problem but.... the unlock code Handtec sent me does not work
I have tried every method I can find on the internet to enter the unlock code (eg #0111*code#, #7465625*638*code# and even #7465625*638*# which pops up with a seperate box to enter the unlock code) and each time it fails. I've even done this after various full hardware resets.
Hantec have said the phone might be faulty with a software problem and to send it back to them.
I am in Cyprus and its going to cost me 50 euro to send it back. If I had paid an extra 50 euro on the Handtec price I could have bought it locally! Doh!
Mark.

Doh!
Mark.

To enter the code you should put a SIM in, and start the phone, it will ask you straight away...
If you attempted to enter wrong codes too many times it will stop asking you and your phone is permanently locked until you return it to the manufacturer.
Oh noes, mine better not relock... :\
Just out of curiosity, how many 5's does your code have?
Hello,
Does anybody know a way i can unlock my Defy its currently locked on the T-Mobile UK network, I have tried searching the internet but i can't find anything please help.

For Tmo (USA at least)
they will give it to you. You just have to call in and ask. May need to be a customer for a little while, but only if you are on postpaid. If you paid full price you can request unlock code right away.
Unlock Motorola Defy
Hello everybrody;
Any news about the unlock codes?
Thanks in advanced.Regards.
i got an HD2 on line and Nuron on prepaid, called tmobile 2 for each phone and less than 24hrs on each occasion i got the unlock code from them
For Tmobile USA
I got mine. It is free, just call Tmo and ask for the unlock code, tell them you are going to another country for vacations.
I payed full price, if you got the phone with a contract you might have to wait some time to get the unlock code from Tmo as they told me there are certain rules if you buy the phone with discount (aka 2yr contract).
I like Tmobile
T-Mobile Sim Unlock Request
Sim Unlock Reference: 1231232
IMEI: ##################
Unlock Code: ***************
Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your Motorola device.
1. Place a non-T Mobile SIM card into the handset and turn the handset on.
2. The handset display should read "SIM network unlock PIN"
3. Tap the box below the message
4. Enter the unlock code and Tap "Unlock"
Note: Device should display "Network unlock successful".
If you receive an error message while performing the instructions do not make any further attempts to unlock the handset. Please be aware that if an excessive amount of incorrect attempts are made, the phone will be permanently locked. You will need to verify the IMEI by pressing *#06# and contact Customer Service for support.
Thank You,
Sim Unlock Department
T-Mobile USA, Inc.
Actually, if you've been a customer for a few years they will give it to you contract price or not. I've never had an issue. However with wifi calling (and the fact that I really need my regular number for my work) I'm less motivated.
Hello everyone!
I am not from US and I bought Defy from a person who got it on Oprah show. Waiting for this phone to arrive soon. It should be locked and I want to unlock it. I will receive copy of Oprah letter enclosed with phone. Something about 3 month of free T-Mobile service and pre-activated sim card.
Now the question. Will I get unlock from T-Mobile if I contact them? Will letter help?

SIM Unlock Code
For information on the SIM Unlock Code, refer to the following:
If you purchased a wireless phone from T-Mobile, your phone has been programmed with a SIM lock which will prevent the phone from operating with other compatible wireless telephone carrier’s services. If you wish to use the phone with the service of another wireless telephone carrier, you must enter a numeric SIM Unlock Code to unlock the phone.
For customers with a T-Mobile Postpaid Plan, T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible customers, provided the requesting customer has a minimum of 40 days of active service with T-Mobile.
For customers with a T-Mobile Prepaid Plan, T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible customers, provided the requesting customer has a minimum of 60 days of active service with T-Mobile and either a Prepaid Plan account balance of at least $10.00 or a prior refill within the last 30 days.
T-Mobile will provide the SIM Unlock Code upon request to eligible former customers, provided that T-Mobile has such code or can obtain it from the manufacturer.
You may request the SIM Unlock Code for your phone, together with instructions for entering the code, by calling T-Mobile customer care at 1-800-937-8997
customer support will also tell you Tmobile requires the phone be ACTIVE/USED on Tmo US for atleast 14 days since they can detect phones that use their networks
I got a TMobile (US) DEFY as a gift (I believe it is an Oprah show giveaway) and have been having a very hard time trying to unlock the phone. even the code that TMobile provided was wrong.
Attempts:
1 - TMobile - they said they did not have it in their database and contacted motorola. The code they sent was 8 digits and did not work.
2 - Unlockitnow-com - Paid $20 - Sent me 3 codes and all three did not work (I did a motorola database "not found" lookup) -> I made a youtube video of the code not working to get a refund and they said they are mailing me a sim unlock kit.
3 - Private Unlocker in Toronto - Paid $35 - Sent me 1 code and it was the same as one of the codes from unlockitnow-com so I did not try it as I knew it failed previously -> he then contacted motorola who advised him that the phone may possibly have a network lock and not a simlock so it would require 2 codes?? both 16-digit subsidy codes as the phones sent to Oprah were never sent to TMobile to remove the subsidy codes and insert TMobile 8digit calculated codes.
Debating trying to apply for a subsidy code from GSM liberty -> gsmliberty-net/shop/16-digit-motorola-subsidy-code-p-3213.html
Anyone else with a DEFY from the Oprah Show manage to unlock it? please help! PM or reply!! thanks in advance
got the same problemo here.. my uncle bought a motorola defy from the oprah show, then call t-mobile for unlock code..
t-mobile always sent the same code (just 8 digits) & it doesn't work.. they said that he has to call directly to motorola because he doesn't get the phone directly from tmobile (what the heck?? it's a tmobile phone for crying out loud..!!)
now he is trying swiftunlock from ebay.. haven't got the code yet..
hope it will work..
same thing here...

I have the same problem with this oprah defy phone. I bought it for my husband for christmas (Im a Tilt2 .. and sticking with it..LOL)
You got much further than I did with T-Mobile, after being "disconnected" twice, I called back a third time only to have possibly the rudest tmobile rep on the planet tell me that there is no way they can know whether or not I stole the phone! and so it is impossible for them to give me a code. She then said that because it was a prepaid oprah phone that it could not be unlocked.
I gave up on T-Mobile and bought a code from unlock to talk and they sent me 2, both of which didnt work...(currently shooting my refund video as we speak...LOL...but they didnt sound too eager to give me my money back either way).
If anyone finds a reputable place that can unlock this expensive paper weight, please please post!....
help!!!

Well, this dude claims he is (or was) selling an unlocked Oprah Defy, maybe he can tell you how he did it. Or, maybe he really didn't?

I decided to bite the bullet and risk losing more money on yet another unlock code....
Im trying gsmliberty too, since they have the 16 digit subsidy codes that this phone seems to need...
I have a ticket open with them at the moment 'cause they dont actually list the defy as a supported model, I already paid so we'll see...I really hope they can help me (its for my husband who is a US Marine)...I think it will also be the ultimate test for the ruggedness of this phone...LOL
I'll let you know what happens with gsmliberty...

I am having the same problem. I called and requested to unlock my 2 phones on Monday after 50 days ended, and the rep said they should be unlocked by Wednesday the latest, but I checked and they are still locked to Sprint then. I called again on Wednesday and the rep told me both of my phones are unlocked domestically/internationally since 1pm??? As of now, Friday, both of my phones are still locked to Sprint!
I hope I am wrong but I have a feeling Sprint is delaying the unlock process to keep their customers as long as possible because they already knew as soon as they unlocked the phones they lost these customers.

A week is ridiculous. If it's 50 days to unlock then another week, actually I was told 5-7 business days, then you are into the third billing cycle.
It's seems to me to be an un-official (official) way for them to extract another $50 or so from everyone that wants an unlock.
I can't wait to dump them.
Poor policies and poor CS.

No, I believe it.
I had the people that are supposed to know, the International Unlock support folks tell me to go to a store because it's a device issue. SMFH!
They have a problem with their servers and IT.
One example -> They two factor authentication was broken for almost 2 weeks and kept generating the same code. over and over.
Could not login because the code was wrong.
Told them numbers of times and they still didn't get it.
With the "unlock"; they send/push an unlock code to the phone with no round trip verification that it was received.
For them pushed = unlocked. SMFH!
They should do the following
1. Push unlock to phone with MEID and request #. (Request stays open)
2. Phone receives unlock with MEID
3. Phone performs unlock.
4. Phone sends back confirmation with MEID and request #.
5. Server receives confirmation with MEID and request #.
6. Server closes the request.
7. Send back confirmation to phone.
8. Phone closes connection.
9. If the request does not close in certain period of time, a timeout error occurs and the request is resent.
10. If the phone never gets a confirmation it can close it's connection. Server will re-initiate at some point.
How stupid are the people that write their code and corresponding firmware on the phone?
This is software handshake 101!!!!!
I have a BSEE and MSEE with a specialization in computer architecture.
I'm more than 25 years in the industry.
I have written just a bit f code in the last 30 years or so. They should take some classes. SMFH!!!

If you want to make it even more robust, both sides wait for ack before closing the connection.

I escalated all the way up to a corporate VP via email.
It was unlocked 2 hours later.
The low level CSR can no longer request an unlock.
They now must submit a ticket.
That ticket may or may not get executed correctly.
I just discontinued service.
I thought Comcast was bad..... Sprint is worse.

Yeah, I emailed them last night then got a call from their headquarters about half an hour later to get more info about my issues. She said will call me back today with the update but my phone is already unlocked now.
It's quiet in here... I guess Sprint finally corrected the issues they had with their unlock process. :silly:
