[Q] just purchased this phone - HTC Aria General

Did i make a mistake buyin it i fell in a creek fishing and my tilt to was ins my pocket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm... yea this is a good phone as long as you don't overload it with stuff...

Very Good Android Phone
I bought this for my wife as her first smartphone the weekend it was released and I liked it so much I dumped my iPhone 3GS and got one for myself. Size is great and it does everything I need. Don't miss the iPhone at all. I suggest you root and install the liberated ROM which will give you more free memory (and eliminate all the AT&T bloatware).

I agree more freedom than iPhone by far...and its fun to play with...I went from iPhone 3gs to the HTC aria and I'm not looking back

Anyone else want to give it a try?

I hated my Tilt 2, it froze every five seconds. I upgraded to the Aria and got the Liberated rom.

Another one bites the dust!
Head over to BBHybrids.net the xda-developers for the BlackBerry world. I'm currently running a BlackBerry 9630 Tour with software upgraded to OS 5.0.0.230/50v7.15 Irtehun hybrid. It runs head and shoulders above the 4.7 image the phone came with.
I originally came to this site so I could learn how to mod my HTC Titan (PPC 6800). I'm now back because I picked up an HTC Dream (Google G1) and want to learn more about Android.
Theres no touch screen on that small thing
This is like driving a car to using a motorcycle
Bad analogy. Have you ever taken a motorcycle for a spin? If it didnt snow here 6 months out of the year, I'd trade my car in for a motorcycle instantly. Motorcycles are fun as hell and the gas mileage is 3x better than any car on the road.

Couldnt think of anything better, ive been on one and its great though.
I might be leaving as well to iPhone 3Gs 32 gig.. say what you all want lol. (I will probably get flamed.) But my goal is to jail break it and run android on it. :]
You can flash roms on your BB just as easy, if not easier, as flashing on your g1. Give it a few weeks you be getting flash happy again.

Just got the G2 from the Up's man....Excited! Whats the correct way to start this thing up ? charge full first?
I played with my G2 while it was charging from the PC's USB, no ill effects. Just takes longer.
Congrats, you got a great phone!
I know I was like a kid in a candy store with mine.
When I got my desire z, I killed the battery until it shut off, then gave it a full charge. Anyway, Hope you have fun with the G2

i was actually thinking of holding off on root for a while to wait for 2.3....Headed to best buy mobile after work to check out the nexus s and 2.3 mostly....Havent even turned mine on yet! Shes charging....Shhhh
I just got mine today as well. Got it for free with a contract renewal. Very happy that I didn't blow $200 on the nexus S as I live in an area with really good hsdpa+ coverage (south jersey).
Already experienced the corrupt sd card issue (twice). I think it was because I was turning off usb connectivity on the phone, then unmounting it. Only way to get it working was to throw it into my G1 and reformat.
Build quality seems to be top notch... not sure about all the fuss on the hinge. Works well enough for me. Gonna root this weekend, can't wait to tether this puppy. Anyway, enjoy.
Congrats!. I enjoy mine everyday .
I got mine yesterday....now I already done the sim-unlock and permanent root : and put desire z build xD

It wouldn't render the graphics on the room/stairs part....interesting I thought....maybe 2.3? Anyways if I root and stay stock rom will I get stock ota updates? I got the first update about 10 mins after turning it on

I think it's funny how people complain about the screen closing when they are using the phone while laying on their back. The simple solution is to just close the keyboard. There's ten different ways to input text into this phone and there was such a big fuss about not being able to use the keyboard while facing the ceiling.

Android is a Linux, You must have the soul of a hacker. Of course You may be a normal user of your phone, play angry birds and call to your girlfriend vel boyfriend, wife, husband, mother, puppy ...
I just recently got into the whole rooting and custom ROM stuff... But I don't think I'll get 'bored' of Android, since I'm still using it as a phone, not some kind of toy.

If you are going to buy new phone, think about HD2. You will never ever end with boredomness. Bored with Android ? Go to WM or WP7. Vice a versa .
And yes, it is a phone(send ur SMS's, make calls, play, take snaps) Android is just a big(ment to be free, but Sony raped us) plus.
Got my phone 1 month and a half, and I just take it for what it is: a *good* phone with internet capabilities, useful for my work and my personal satisfaction
But bored... hopefully not gonna happen...
I only bought this phone because it is a pretty cheap phone damn!
Only for mess around..
@suhel28 : I digg what you're saying man, I'm also abit tired of all the flashing/recovering that happened every week for atleast about 2 months now. Gotta find a good version to live with and wait untill a stable(fully working) rom exists. Thanks again for the framework btw.
I'm not getting tired of Android, just this phone. I want to be able to update to the latest Android whenever I want, I shouldn't have to rely on a third party for that.
Also, I don't think you're getting tired of the phone, you are getting tired of messing with it.

LOVE!!!!!!

So...I've had my Nexus S 4G for 2 weeks now, and I have to say, the first few days I was having trouble justifying the off contract price of the phone, especially when my Epic was perfectly fine.....
Fast forward to the first week, I was really liking how well it fit in my pocket, not to mention the battery life stock, and the GPS lock in seconds...awesome.
I also decided to root and try CM7, and I've been running it for a week so far, and I'll say it's changed my mind, and I'm definitely keeping this phone now!
And the ONLY thing I missed from my epic was the camera button, and today fooling around with my Nexus, I found that in CM7 you can assign the volume buttons to take pictures, EFFIN AWESOME!
So, I'm in love!
That is all,
Chris

So did the Sprint employees look at you funny when you bought it off contract for full retail?
I've always wondered what they think when enthusiasts come in and lay down half a grand on a phone... It's an expensive hobby.
I also came from the Epic... it's hard to tell they have the same hardware inside.
I don't see myself ever buying a non nexus device again..(here is hoping Sprint continues to play a role in the Nexus devices!!) Android is at it's best when it's running as Google intended. Not to mention the updates and development..
Anyways. Welcome glad you like it.

The sprint stores always seemed surprised. Best buy and the T-Mobile stores never blinked an eye. I've purchased 6 phones at full retail and only got an odd response once (from a Sprint employee).
Having gone from the Nexus One to this phone (and I'll buy the next Nexus phone as well) I hope it comes to Sprint. Otherwise I'll have to jump carriers again.

[NEW HERE] Coming from Hero and Stopping to Say Hi

Hey all. I decided against going with the 3vo and went with the 4g (on the advice of a few sprint employee friends). I've had root on my hero since it was possible and finally just got tired of the phone itself. This phone is everything I knew it would be. SOME issues I've experienced but nothing all that bad. GV didn't work at all but it's working now and the voice option on the keyboard doesn't work. Oh well.
Anyways, I'm not at all a dev, but will be happy to give feedback on whatever rom (once root). For those who are working on root options...GOOD LUCK!!!

Welcome to the evo. Don't mind the trolls they seem to be in abundance these days. Might make me goto the 3d just for that reason.
As for the voice, I had that problem in a few roms. Idk what the problem was but after installing swiftkeyboard x its working fine on my current daily driver. I can't say it didn't work before becouse I didn't try it.

Wow, so I'm not the only one that didn't fall for the 3-D crap. I just came from the here as well and the 3-D was only an option when I heard about the ram and dual core processor, after I messed with it for a while I was over it lol. Welcome man, its a good step in the right direction. The only way I would even consider going with a 3-d phone is once the whole 3-D option either plays out or gets much better.
