Hello all
I had a leak in a roof, when I returned home my Streak was sat in a puddle of water. It's affected only the four small battery terminals, but unfortunately due to subsequent shock damage, one connector has snapped out of place and is no longer springy.
As I can't see any visible screws I have no way to assess this myself, but does anyone know if I would be able to order the small battery connector part and fix this myself?
The water damage hasn't affected anything else so I know it's just the one battery terminal that's broken.
Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.
You might be covered under your house insurance, if not the cheapest option would probably be to buy a broken one off eBay for parts.
Thanks for the response.
There's no insurance on the phone - Dell customer support requires a tag number and of course this isn't a desktop PC.
Does anyone know where I can simply buy the part I require, just the battery terminal box?

Hi i have looked just about everywhere i can find and have been unable to find any sort of concrete information, if anyone has themselves replaced the digitizer how did you go about doing it? As of now i am unable to tell if it is possible to take the screen off from the front and snake the connector back through where the other one went and just hook it all in that way (it is my understanding that it is held in by double sided tape making this possible) thus avoiding taking it apart piece by piece, or if i will have to take the entire unit apart piece by piece to do the install(also i suppose if anyone knows a few specific screws that will release the whole insides as one unit it would be very helpful). Anyways anyone with any experience doing this your advice would be greatly appreciated and if not i suppose i will be tinkering with it and try to figure it out on my own.

Try youtube. I found one for the eepad tf101 i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-6dKsGJ4VY&feature=plcp its the best reference you can get...otherwise keep trying repair websites I think Ifixit would be a good place ( although I can't be 100% sure). I dont know for sure but it seems that the lcd and the digitiser are most likely adhered together, most capacitive displays are these days are; so the best option would be to use a heat gun to seperate the two or i guess a hairdryer. But thats after you remove all the frame and stuff off it lololol. So you might just have to spend at LEAST two days with nothing to do besides repair...If it happened to me and if asus voided my warranty or i ran out of warranty I would do it...considering I have experience with repairing laptop lcds and phones, so I guess I would be brave enough to try. Otherwise the cost of repair is 200+...and by comparing replacement digitisers http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-EeePad-Transformer-TF300-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Glass-Replacement-Brand-New-/280929374154?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4168b20fca#ht_4213wt_1397 this being the cheapest, you might have to look at the most viable option here. Hope this helps. Goodluck
hi guys - i foolishly lent my streak to my sister for a while as she had broken her iphone and after a couple of weeks she called me up to say that it wasn't charging and was dead. I figured she'd just done something daft and it would be an easy fix but i got it back today and she's managed to pretty much destroy the pdmi connector (as well as break the rear door catch!) . Phone still works fine as i charged up the battery on the dock and fired it up.
So, is it possible to change the connector or is it soldered to the motherboard? If it's soldered i'm guessing it's a pretty specialist job to get it replaced? Or alternatively, is anybody interested in it for spares? It's in perfect condition as it's always had an invisible shield on it (just removed as it was getting a bit scabby) apart from the connector and rear panel catch....if there is any interest i can pop a thread on the marketplace.
Cheers
Niall
It's soldered. There may be companies which can replace the connector, but I'm not aware of them. You may want to look into replacing the motherboard by purchasing a Streak with a broken screen.
aye, that's what i thought...i've ordered up a connector as it looks like it's the plastic bit that disappeared so maybe be able to refit that from a new one? If not i'll maybe see if a phone repair shop will solder the new one on. Or has anybody got a smashed streak lookin for a new home??
Long story short I got a replacement back from ebay that does not have any of the built in antenna/contact points installed, is this normal for a replacement back? How would this be beneficial for replacement of a broken back glass if it cant function the same as the previous one for NFC wireless etc.? Can the antenna's be replaced or should I say something to the seller about issuing a refund?
Get the refund.

I'm hoping I can get the seller to offer me a refund but I bought it as a guest with ebay/paypal and didn't register so I don't seem to have a lot of power in the resolution department with them (ebay). I have emailed the seller asking for a RMA to get my money back or to be provided a cover that includes the antenna's, we shall see what they say, but my question still is this....
Has anyone here bought a cover that did NOT include the antenna's and what did you do with the situation (buy new antenna and from where, somehow move the old antenna and how, etc.)
I'm just looking for more options in case the seller gives me a hard time.
Thanks again for anyone's input that can help me out!

You can open resolution case withpaypal which actually works faster most of the time.
Use the antennas from the old cover

I would but they don't seem reliably removable from the case they are glued in I believe and pretty much made of paper. I'm afraid that in trying to remove they will tear or break. Has anyone else had to move the antenna before? Any advice on how best to do it?
Use a heat gun on low or a hair dryer on medium heat and use it to warm up the glue holding the antennas on. Hold the gun/drier about 6-8 inches from the antennas moving up and down the back cover to get even heating. After about 10-15 seconds try to carefully peel them up. If it feels like its going to tear stop peeling and continue applying heat. Don't get them too hot as you'll run the risk of them melting.
Once out transfer them to the replacing aw quickly as possible to not let the glue reset.

Dropped my phone on concrete. It BOUNCED - thank god for cases. It seems fine, except for this... (see attached image)
Yeah.... One of the NFC pins snapped off. As you can imagine, my NFC no longer works. At all. As I use NFC on a very regular basis, this is not OK.
Anyone have something like this happen to them? Any ideas on how to fix it? I was considering a drop of solder, but I really am not sure about what to do.
Thanks in advance.

these NFC pins contains some internal circuits if you apply solder on it , then you will going to short circuit the hole circuit which may damage your NFC coil . you may damage your coil due to extensive heat due to solder . so please go to service center.
yep, that's right, try not to diy this one. the circuit may tolerate a bit of heat but my main concern would be EM parasite charges from your solder iron. These can screw the gain for the amplifying circuitry linked to the nfc coils. This is also true for the GSM/GPS antenna and in some measure for the WLAN.
however it should be an easy fix for a service center since they have ESD safe equipments.
This is a heavily rooted/ROMed/otherwise modified device. Would Samsung even take it back? I thought my warranty was long gone?
since your warranty is expired so stop bothering about root . as far as NFC pins are concerned replacement will not cost to much (NFC parts costs few dollars ) ..service charge is what you have to pay. so go to service center and stop bothering about root and rom.
Alright, I'm not sure what I need to do to here, I've never gone to a service center before.
Does this (image attached) work as a place to go?
yes , that's the place you have to go . i think they are going to take your phone for 1 to 2 days so keep an backup phone with you.

Well ****. I don't have a backup phone. This is gonna be REALLY annoying.
I am predicting not sure.......

or i could just replace the module itself....
look at this: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...8&qid=1400003697&sr=8-1&keywords=N7100+SD+sim
i guess i'll just be replacing it by hand.
looks good ... its the cheapest way to fix your phone ...:victory:
please ensure that i case of manufacturing defects they will going to replace it ( there may be chance manufacturing defects so be cautious )
go on replace the circuit board ...
Easy workaround

I know it's been a while but thought somebody else looking up might benefit at least.
I had the same problem and I wish I knew how the contact broke off. I am a heavy NFC user and so all I did is simply take the inside of a bubblegum wrapper (the aluminium foil) and folded small enough to fit in the pit, yet big enough to make contact with the back cover. Cigarette packs also have such lining wrappers inside BTW. Then I simply have an extra full bubblegum wrapper (folded non conductive side up) and keep it behind the battery JIC I need to replace the hack when I open the back cover and loose the small piece from the contact point or may be miraculously when the other NFC contact also breaks off.
Also, conductive glue could be used to stick it if at all you want to go that far.
HTH!
Dear all,
Could someone please tell me how a battery of S7 edge is replaced? If i give it at an official outlet, and get it replaced, can someone from other place while selling the phone, come to know that the phone was opened?
They have to weaken the glue on the back of the phone (the machine they use to do this also weakens the glue on the screen.). Then they lift off the back glass and replace the battery.
If you get this done at a Samsung Certified Repair outlet then you would never be able to tell that it had been done and the phone will remain water resistant. If you have this done elsewhere, there's a high chance they will not do a great job, leaving gaps and the chance water could get inside the phone.
