Hi guys ,
Phone : My Touch 3g ( google branded) = PVT32B and it's from SFR ( vodafone France ) i think ...
Problem : When turned on --> only blue led ( no backlight , no screen -on / no recovery / no fastboot)
Story :
The wierd part is that IT's NOT happening all the time .
From time to time ( complete random ) it's turning on and I can use it.Fully functional . And this happens, usually, after i take out the battery then put it back and leave it like this for 10-20min (sometimes it takes 2 hours ) and if i'm lucky then it will turn on .
AS LONG as i don't take out the battery or runs out of battery , it will work and i can use it . but if i take out the battery, most of the times, it will start only to blue led .
Sometimes it's turning on even after i take out the battery 3-4 times consecutively
it's just randomly
So .... since 3 days ago (since i've bought it) i've tried :
to flash new SPL ---> 2005
then new recovery --> lastest amon-ra 1.7
then new radio ---> 2.22.23.02
..... it did not helped
then i've read this thread (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649689) where one guy said it's from the trackball
but i've tried : i removed the trackball , took out the connector ( main keyboard - couldn't find any other that this ) and put it back .
and many other things like dust-it-off / change ROMs ...
Still ... it's like bingo or like it has it's own will )) .
Any ideas ? or advice?
Thank you
anybody? any ideas?
intermittent issues like that are very hard to track down. I would back up your data, and start saving for a new phone, as it sounds like the next time your turn on your phone, you won't know what it's gonna do...
Just happened to me for the first time - did a reboot via ADB to fix it. Last thing I did was to move some Google apps onto sd-ext using firerat's all in one patch script. Think I'll move them back. Have also been experimenting with modem settings in /system/build.sapphire.prop (doubled my 3G download rate)

Hi, i know im new to the forum and everything but I had my T-Mobile HTC MDA WWE Wizard Since 06 , it was working great but i Found it last week and even though its kind of beat up . i ordered a Battery (Which i Received Yesterday)It booted , Asking for a Password, So i did a Soft Reset By Pressing the On, Txt , Wifi + The little reset button i Pressed the Send key .And Did a Soft Reset . I did the Regular you know test thing skipped the password and there you go i Get The WM Desktop or W/e and i Noticed that there Was no Backlight! So i was like WHAT THE HECK?!,,, I Went to Settings > System > Backlight , And Did the Maximum Slide thing I Checked And Checked All Boxes and it made no Diffrence. So yeah Here i go now with a 60% Battery Charge now , And i Just Installed ActiveSync 4.5 And i Used the MDA RegEdit thing and Went to The Backlight Settings and Everything seemed ok . Even the The Lock SubFolder. So that wasnt the problem but i was still having fun with my MDA once again With My Prepaid SIM Card Getting Y! Messenger Free for some Odd Reason.. Anyways I Really Wanted to Customize it And i was about to Install an I-Phone Theme Called "ifonz" but it said i needed at least WM6 so here i go I Did the Lokiwiz to Unlock my SIM and CID Thing Did it Successfully , Then Tried to Install A OLD ass Rom : Faria Several Times I think to many times Because it Would get stuck at 99% , And for like the 10nth time i was back in the Recovery thing and i Took my Battery Out [When it always told me] but this time My Phone did Not Boot Anymore not even to the Supposably Three Colored Screen or W/e i couldnt see the colors cuz i didnt have a backlight but i had gotten that before and Successfully Reinstalled an Official ROM from the T-mobile WM Upgrade and me Being a Dumbass Kept on Wanting to Try and try . I dont even know why i kept trying the Same Old Faria ... So now Not Only Do i Have a Phone With No Backlight but a Phone that doesnt even turn on .. I am Willing to Pay For a Solution for this Brick.. I at least Want my Phone back even though i will be able to Use it only Indoors with a Bright Light i will buy another Screen on Ebay for like 30$.. And yeah I Tried To Do the USB Charger Hack and Nothing Happened my USB NON-OEM Charger Had an Extra White Cable But i Only Used The Black and Red With Positive and Negative. Nothing Happened.. Still My Phone won't turn on
A Possible Cause of This may be because i removed this Black Tape Like Thing On The Back of My Phone.. LOL What is that for?? I Don ReCall Putting it there
ok i've had my wizard for a long while now and as i move fwd with my newly acquired omnia hd..i decided to write this arbituary as still to date some of the issues listed cause suffering to its loving owners and are not yet fully addressed.
1 - Wizard's White Screen Of Death (WSOD) :
- Not to confuse this with white screens occuring at application crashes , the issue discussed is when you get a white screen out of the blue while nothing is running..some tried to address the issue as pressure problem / cable problem / connectors problem / screen .. (ok the list included all wizard's components realy) but here goes the answer : Processor failure due to sustaining untolerable tempreture..how to solve you ask ? Trouble-shooting heat can be hactic , the list starts from faulty battery that emitts erritating heat and ends with continues utilization of the lcd screen and passes through the ageing wizard boards that acquired failing capacitors (you can never have em replaced , not unless you are a swiss watch-maker)..so my advice..replace the battery and dim the lcd lights , if the problem continues then u know its the board , ditch it at no remorse.
2 - Wizard freezes in you pocket and wont come back on powering on/resume:
would return rings to callers , the green led works , yet you cant get it to unsleep using the power button (some thought it was pressure / some thought it was heat / others the cables .. touch pad .. blass) but here goes the answer : this problem can be caused by either a software you installed (ex: spb shell) that would manage to have the connection with the touch-pad running even on suspending the devise and would occasionaly go buffer over-run due to several and continues press strokes (easy to test as you can always backup then hard reset your device then fully press the screen while off for two minutes , if it comes back then its software issue) so hard resetting and neglecting the problematic software can help (in all cases i experimented with , uninstalling faulty application didnt help as the change is done within registry and is left there permenently and i didnt find myself entreagued to trap these changes) ... if not however your issue will lay in the on board battery receptor (the black device with pins connecting to the battery) through out time (or maybe by chance) such a device (plastic based) is dislocated by a fraction of a mm. and would cause the metal connecters to disconnect/reconnect upon sudden movement of the device (the ultration in current can cause the processor to crash and rendered to such state) how to solve this issue is to simply : pop your device open , use hot air (dont take your time!) to move the battery receptor 1 mm. inwards..that or apply paper inserts to firmly rests the battery unmovable.
3 - After flashing several roms , flashing a new rom continues successfully yet you power-up to find out your older rom remains unchanged:
some thought its usb cable problem , others hinted broken bootloader , others suspected the usb socket .. ok you just corruped your spl , ipl (they do return the correct version numbers on booting) so flashing a rom with ipl , spl (such as official rom or famous CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE) will solve that and do note that most custom roms come free of ipl / spl to become compatible with annoying G4 board along with our beloved G3.
4 - Official rom indicates that your device id is of a different brand and thus official rom and licensed add ons wont install:
some thought it was a defensive mechanism for locked devices (yet owners of unlocked devices managed to get there too!) .. ok let me be brief on this one .. you have corrupted your IPL / SPL and last but not least your "IMEI" , yes thats possible , and on installing a cute rom that would not authenticate validity of IPL / SPL / IMEI such as Wizard_Love_2.26.10.2_WWE_Novii_CF2 you will get to notice that your IMEI managed to change despite that its the same board..so there is only one way to get out of this and here is how :
a - install CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE
b - run awizard and have it unlock CID and then upload / enable rapi.cab
c - use your device explorer to browse to device root and install rapi.cab uploaded there
d - restart your device
e - reinstall CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE
f - repeate steps b through d
g - run iwizard_979 and have it change your IMEI to the one printed on the box of your wizard or under the battery
5 - Why am i getting so much corruptions on my device :
Some suspected a faulty memory chip..others suspected faulty roms..yet the answer is : your battery is defected .. most rom / ipl / spl / imei corruptions are related to altering flow of current .. so follow methods listed in solving bullet problem (2) up or have your battery replaced.
6 - I try to power my device , but it takes several seconds before the htc logo appears , sometimes i have to remove reseat the battery:
Some suspected rom , others suspected battery .. but the answer is : your board capacitors are defected , a board (if still available) replacement is due.
7 - Help! the device freezes at splash screen :
Some suspected a rom corruption , brilliants suggested entering bootloader mode by pressing and holding camera button then power the device and have a rom written to device , geeks tried to hack into the device at that state and trying to trouble shoot from there..but here goes the easiest and handiest thing to do that is 99% effective: press and hold Comm + Talk + Power .. a black screen pops up and ask you if you want to format your device , press Dial .. the device formats and restore factory defaults and opens smoothly (btw be patiant as on hard reset the device takes more time to boot) .. now you thought the rom was corrupted .. how could hard resetting a corrupted rom without re-installing make it work .. nopes it wasnt corrupted .. your device just acquired a failing (coarking) startup file that a hard reset would replace from rom or pre-cabs.
Finally hope this article addresses and enlighten u to furtherly address craziness thrown at us by the famous wizard.
On the day beforde I switched off my HTC Magic and gone to sleep. On the next morning I switched it back on but I only get a black screen with backlights on.
I took out the battery out several times and also the SD-Card, but nothing helps. Also tried to charge it and then tried to turn it on, but im getting the same black screen with backlights on.
After that I tried to boot in Fastboot mode and I can connect fine over cmd, I also can start ( think it starts because I cannot see anything ) the Recovery mode but that is getting me nowhere ( see first comment ).
My Phone is an HTC Magic 32b from Vodafone.
I have an unprotected SPL which worked fine and Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 which also worked fine the day before.
I think the only changes I made is deinstalling sam2.apk ( alternate market app ) which should safe for removal ( look wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Barebones )
Hope someone can help me....
btw: Sorry for my bad english
Uninstalling sam2 shouldn't have caused any problems. Just reflash your rom or something, you aren't bricked at all. If anything, your phone has partially died on you
Hmm okay after alot of reading and searching it looks like the display died the last night in a slow slumber
Monday I pay our local Vodafone Shop a visit... however thank you for your advise
HI .
recently my legend has been acting a bit strange .
i'll try and explain in short .
1:sometimes the back button is acting like the volume button. erratic raising of the volume and a flickering volume bar . can't adjust set the volume or back out from programs . hit home button sometimes cures this but not fully exiting the program
2: When i open Google maps and search for something , the search never happens just shows the map but no results . and the proceeds to lock up the phone . no buttons work except holding down the power button to shut down the phone .
..once powered down , the phone boots up into a window that shows , reboot , bootloader and i am not sure of the rest . with Androids on skateboards across the bottom of this window . strange .
3: once phone is on / back on . sometimes i just locks up for no reason . cannot use it at all , until i reboot / turn it off and then back on .
i don't have anything out of the ordinary installed on my phone, as far as apps , its basically out of the box default settings etc .
i have recently ( 2 days ago )
did a factory reset & formatted the 16GB MicroSD card .
last night while testing Google maps for the first time since i did this factory reset i started again . i was able to back out from Google maps . and it hasn't done anything strange today ( SO far ) but i wouldn't hold my breath .
Anyone else had something similar happen with their Legend ?
Thanks for any help.
Cheers
/T
You formatted it but had no custom ROM or rooting?

Click to collapse
nope nothing , basically outta the box ! .
This calls for harassing your carrier and forcing them to get you a new one!
Seriously, if it's outta the box and this happened, that's what I would do, the sooner the better.
i have a n9005 ,, suddenly screen goes black ,, touch not working ,, but phone is working ,, i tried to remove battery and do every thing possible for 10 hours ,, nothing help ,
i thought that this is a software problem (xposed+gravity+xnote) something like conflict , but i can enter download mode ( ican't see any thing but with just volume keys) , i flashed a stock rom with odin ,, same problem ,, the blue led on and nothing on the screen not even SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 3, i thought that the lcd is dead ,, but i found a video that if the lcd dead the touch still working , and this not happen here ,
i tried another battery ,, but no hope
i removed sim and sd card ,, no hope
this problem happened before like 3 times ,, but i just remove battery twice or 3 times and it work again .
so what do you think guys ???
note: My phone is out of warranty (from foreign country) .
If the issue were software/rom related, the screen would work when in recovery or download mode.
Unfortunately it seems it is a hardware problem and you have to send the phone to service.
I would take it apart and check all connectors, not too difficult if you follow one of many videos on youtube. The fact that phone is working, but no screen and no touch makes me think it's something basic, like screen power supply or maybe whole connector is loose? if you don't see anything obvious, put it back and send it out then.
