Wildpuzzle on Three UK - Wildfire General

I tried Wildpuzzle but I was unable to connect to the internet over my mobile network. I'm sure all the settings were right but in the end I just went back to my Three nandroid backup. Has anyone else had that problem with Three? Also if you can connect to the internet does your planet3, free windows live messenger and free skype still work?

I am on 3 and I am running Wildpuzzle 7.3 I have no problem with internet connections and no problem at all comes to my mind. Yes Skype and Windows live messenger is free, but you can get them going to address mobile.three.co.uk/sdf/hsfavorites from your phone

So when you use Skype and WLM you still dont use any of your internet allowance? Also did you install wildpuzzle by rooting with unrevoked and then with clockworkmod? Thats what I did.

Yes it does not use your internet allowance. Of course you can do a check. Look your internet data allowance at mythree website. Make skype call. Check again at mythree.
I firstly rooted phone with unrevoked and then I installed wildpuzzle.

I had the same error, but with Telenor (vodafone). Just check your APN settings and make sure that Three UK is checked out!

Msn messenger with data connection...

Hi. First of all, I have a uk sim-free X1 with t-mobile. My contract also includes web'n'walk which I selected so that I could use msn messenger and sites such as facebook anywhere I wanted without a wi-fi connection.
However, I've realised that my msn messenger will only connect via wi-fi and will not sign in if I'm using the data connection. This is strange as the data connection works fine for everything else, e.g whether updates, youtube, and opera browser.
I did search the past threads but didn't find an answer as most were about the other problem of not being able to use msn via wi-fi.
I'm hoping that there is an answer out there...Please help me. It's like the one thing that would make my phone almost perfect! Ty in advance.
That's weird! Because mine just connects with data connection and not via wi-fi.
Whenever I try to connect to msn via wi-fi, msn tells me that there is a connection problem :/
I get that same connection problem sign when i try via the data connection
I have the same problem - although I don't use msn that often - it still irritates me.
However, I discovered yesterday that fring works fine - if you install fring, you can use that to access msn - looks a little different, but works with a data connection.
Do you find your data connection to be slow - mine reminds me of the old dialup - I was expecting something more akin to broadband speeds
Good luck.
Gopes
P.S. If you do find a solution, please post on here.
Yes it is quite slow...but still i would be very thankful to find a fix for this issue!
Mine used to only work over wifi, then suddenly started working over data connection too, not sure why.
The only thing I know I've had to change was to untick the proxy option for the Tmobile connection as with that on gmail wouldn't work, maybe that helps with MSN too?
Overall I've found Live messenger pretty poor, it's very slow, especially to scroll contacts.
I've tried Nimbuzz, that allows access to everything, even Facebook and MySpace.

Omg thanks for this...this is the solution. Just untick the proxy option and you can sign in to msn messenger over data connection Yay thanks so much!!!

Hotmail connects over 3G and not over WiFi

Hi I have an Xperia X1a, ROM: X1a_GENERIC_NAM_CDF1219-1224_R2AA008, SIM free.
I used the HTC Connection Setup to autoconfigure my network settings of "TELCEL" in Mexico.
But When I use the WLM services (hotmail, messenger, etc) only connets over GPRS-3G (data connection) even if the WiFi connection is active.
I have unlimited data plan, but the 3G networks drains the battery very fast.
Why i can't connect Windows live Services over WIFI?????
I been reading the posts and threats about it, and found some info about Vodafone ROMS, but my ROM its Generic NAM.
Exist come reg. key for fix that???
Could some body help me.
Thanks A lot.
(Sorry for my bad Eng)
I have the same problem...
X1i with Generic_UK R2AA
gents do a firmware update and this will resolve the problem.
Go onto SE website support section. Select your phone. firmware update
download and run the software> follow the instructions on screen.
You will most likley get a promot to say that your software is up to date - press yes and do the firmware update anyway.
This will fix the problem of hotmail not connecting over wifi
also just to clarify
if wifi and 3g are switched on hotmail will try to connect over 3g/gprs instead of using the wifi connection. For me if i need to sync over wifi i turn the phone modual off from the comm manager and then sync over wifi-
hope that helps-
nass
I have the same issue with the Touch3d 3.5 rom. Im not sure i want to follow N2h advice since this will overwite any custom ROMs surely?
OK I followed N2h suggestion, this installed the generic R2A ROM and cleared my Touch-IT ROM off. Not too much of a problem but I still seem to have the same issue.
Perhaps its just my Windows Mobile Newbness - is there not a way to tell it to prefer a particular connection or to never automatically dial the GPRS connection so it has to use the WiFi?
As I wrote in my previous post I am using new R2AA ROM, I resolved the issue by disabling data connection using NoData

Google account connection / Market connection

Ok, I prolly worked myself in to some troubles. The htc hero was launched 2 days ago in netherlands...but was delayed in belgium for another week.
This for the youtube application that cannot exist on the htc hero for Belgium.
So I just went to netherland and bought a htc hero with the youtube application.
After playing with the htc hero I marked a quite big problem
1) I cannot connect to my google email.
With that I cannot connect to the andriod market for apps etc...
Could this be because I'm using my phone in Belgium? Where actually you should have a other phone? I remember reading something about regioblock?
Someone with info/solutions?
I've got the same problem with my Dutch Hero, but I live in the Netherlands (Vodafone NL)
edit : Tried to add hotmail manually (true email apps) works
edit : tried to add gmail manually (true email apps) works!
connecting before market...fails
check in settings > wireless > mobile networks > access point names
select the one for your network and check to make sure there is no proxy listed.
make sure it is just PROXY that you delete, and not MMS PROXY, as otherwise your MMS will stop working.
hopefully that will help.
I get the feeling that some of this stufff i blocked by the network proxies the same as MSN and youtube are blocked by proxies on WinMo handsets.

No I saw that more ppl have this problem.
It's not connecting using UMTS or WiFi, so it's not a network problem, it's a Hero problem.

Their was only the base mobile internet (gprs.base.be) and base MMS.
The base mobile internet was not marked on,so I did that but stil not working...
Just reset your phone to fabric settings and fill in your gmail account when the phone bootes (in the phone setup wizard) and everything will work fine.
Shut down the phone and press home button + back button + power button to start the reset, follow the screen for insructions.
They told me you have to have connection true 3g with your sim card...
To make the first connection you need this and no wifi...
I copy from the android forum :
I'll say it again.
You CAN'T set up Google Sync through an unprovisioned data package.
Now I though you could use wifi to set it up but you can't. You HAVE to set up Google Sync through 3G and it has to be through a Mobile Internet add-on!
Once set up you can use wifi/2g/3g/hsdpa
I know it doesnt make any sense but Google Sync doesn't use WiFi for the first set up and the Service Provider blocks Google Unless you use one of their data tariffs... Really Google should be provisioned to set up through wifi but probably part of this anti piracy malarky...
Yet again awsome phone, shockingly bad service providers.
Just wait till the data is provisioned and restart your phone. No luck then reset to factory defaults and try again.
(I had to do the same thing)
I had problems with connecting to Market then I did a hard reset on the phone and setup google account during initial wizard and it worked ok.
If your 3g network has restrictions you can always try wi-fi at your local hotspot
I still can't get wifi to provide a data connection, has to bephone network. Have tried several factory reboots :-(
if you are willing to experiment you could maybe flash your hero with WWE R3 rom release (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533808)
However, be prepared to accept the fact that USB might not work until newer edition of ROM is available
not sure i believe that, as i have one at work and have signed in multiple times to google after a hard reset without a sim even being in the phone!
It even asks you if you want to use Wifi during the intial start up process, so it definitely CAN use the wifi for the initial set up, or at least the one we have here can!
just received hero and this misfunctionality is really irritating.
Does anybody knows how to reinstall this applications new?
it should be gmail, market and gtalk.
thanks in advance-
very odd.
Had a friend in NL that had this problem, but when we looked, it turned out that only the Vodafone MMS APNs had been set up (or were the only ones visible) and creating one manualy fixed the problem. He didn't have WiFi to try with at the time.
it was very strange as again, he could browse over 3G!
just checked....the settings are OK: Vodafone IT, but still can not get in.
tried also without a sim, only wifi, same result no connection...
should i really reset it? any other ideas?
thx in advance
I did the reset....
I made sure I was directly at my wifi spot...connected to gmail went ok...market now works perfectly...
Strange tho...
could there be some sort of automatic check in with the google servers the first time the handset is ever turned on? maybe if that fails, it could be linked?
reset, first config done, now it works great, some things are real mistery....
thanks to all
hi guys
i dont know if this the right pleace to ask but
does the hero have AUTO SETUP CONNECTION ??
that when you first time put a sim card or go to other network the phone auto setup your data connection . like htc diamond
I guess the network branded ones may not, but the unbranded one i have been using at work certainly does.

How To - Get 6.5.1 - to use WIFI for Internet?

Hi,
at home I have WIFI setup and my topaz is connected to it. but I am pretty sure the phone is still trying to use the ATT MediaNET Connection and since I am in the country that is EDGE and not 3G :-(
How do I get it to use WIFI when available (like when at Starbucks, home, etc)? I am sure I am not the only one
PS: yes I searched and there are many options that seem related to the RTM 6.5 build using an app that ATT shipped.
I am running shadowline's latest 6.5.1 build
As far as I know from my WM6.1 and WM6.5 experience, wireless (when available,of course) has always priority on Data Connection (through your telco), the only exception I know is explained the Note...Shouldn't be much different with WM6.5.1; if you can establish a wifi connection at home you should be able to connect in a public place aswell. Anyway, just to be sure, check the topbar to verify what kind of connection you are using. If the phone icon changed to "E" (or G or H) this means you're on data Connection and could cost money, depending on your operator contract.
Hint: set the Power Mode to Best Performance in Wifi Settings to get a better connection...sometimes it is set to Best Battery as default, making wifi unusable
Note: Live Mail services such as Hotmail require Data Connection, thank you Microsoft
look in my other post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=587955
Quite confusing the way you post...happy you solved your problem, although your solution refers to WM6.5, not WM6.5.1. Never had such an issue with WM6.5.

Wait wait wait,
Can't we access windows live Hotmail with wi-fi? If not, why??
I was able to before when I used to have an xperia.
We should be able to access windows live and Windows Live Mesesnger right?
Don't panic, I wanted to mean that it is possible to log into Messenger and into Hotmail with wifi, but if you have a configured data connection with your operator (e.g. made with Automatic Configuration) ,it will override wifi. To avoid that, delete data connection or use NoData.cab

Strange Marketplace problem

Non branded hd2 on stock wwe 1.66 rom on t-mobiles network. For some strange reason I can connect to Marketplace via t-mobile but not through my home wifi, on wifi it says unable to connect to server, pls check your connection (the that it has encountered a serious problem), but my connection is fine as I can surf via wifi no problem. I uninstalled marketplace, soft reset, reinstalled, still ith problem persists, anyone else have this?
BUMP
some mobile programs require a cellular data connection to work properly. I'm guessing marketplace is one of them.
On second thought, looks like I can access Microsoft Marketplace on wifi. Are you sure that your wifi is working and doesn't require going through an approval process? (Some wifi's have a home page that you have to agree to terms on before you can access)
I had the same problem with Active sync with a cable I could surf the internet but couldn’t access market place downloads (Marketplace could not cannot connect to a server) so I disconnected and just connected to the modem Wi-Fi and no problem with Market Place all downloaded.
Strange
Had this issue myself with T-Mobile,
After months of searching it would appear that the problem was that Marketplace requries and authentication code and at some point when using the phone this was switched off.
From what I read the person didnt know how to change it within the phone but could view that it was turned off, they put on a new ROM and Marketplace flew into action.
I followed this and also slapped on a new ROM..... has worked for me and am using Marketplace to the best of its abilities.
Basic answer....flash a new ROM!
