This is the only thing i dont like about the jam everything else is great this would probably be a reason for mr selling it and getting rid as its happening too often,Do you think it could be imates rom as ive thought about updating to qteks 1.11 or software or hardware fault (sd) any ideas would be great,It just stops this phone from being perfect for me
Same thing is happening with me. also 1 GB A-Data Sd-card
frustrating......
never happened with 128MB card before....
anyone has any cure????
happend to me in my 512MB card... but it happened when i installed a program called RSS Feeder or something like that... everything was gone from the card except for a 2 folders which had many sub-folders....... and found a file which i couldn't delete and the size of that file was about 1.9GB yes GB not MB and had weird characters in the name... it was weird
that's scary as it happened to me once but I thought it was a fluke. This means that I have to fine a place to back it up.
Who Has Pocket Mechanic Installed? i beleieve it might be the reason. check out pleasE!
i don't have it on my jam
Same thing happens to me after transfering large files using my card reader. As soon as I insert my 1Gb SD card back in my s100 the file names juble up and I can't view the contents of the folder.
This happened even before i installed pocket Mechanic.
Transfering the same files through activesync does not seem to make the problem.
I have it installed. It aint the problem.
Happend 3 times on old Rom versions..
never happend on Anasky Patched Qtek FI 1.11 .. .. .. yet..
I use a the Blue SD 1GB SanDisk card.
Keep the SD backed up on the PC have been a must after all wipes.. scary thing.
Hope its gone.. If not.. Ill get another SD card and try that out..
Anyone "Heavy SD User" here, that uses another brand and never experience this??
Please share what card U uses..
Best Regards Carlis
Hmm, I using Lexar SD 1 Gb in my O2 mini, and quite heavy user since have mini (small internal memory). I store my games, video, Mp3 and document files. Before in mini (i bought mini in February), i used in my XDA II, So far no problem.
Tips : analyst and defrag when needed using sd card reader.
I had this problem too
Hi,
I had the same problem using a blue 1GB SD card from Sandisk together with an IPAQ 4150. The problem was hard to track down. I had the feeling that it happened when I tranfered large files with my card reader and when the card is almost full.
I even contacted HP support but they did not have any other reports like this.
I then ordered another card reader (the oval one from Retec) because I suspected thr card reader to be the one to blame. it happened again with the new card reader.
The file names were all scrambled and the explorer showed files larger than the card was. Some of them could not even be deleted.
I finally bought another card reader (Hama USB 2.0 Card Reader 9in1 Part no. 47100). This fixed all problems I had with the IPAQ / 1GB sandisk combination.
I have switched to an MDA compact a few days ago and I hope that the problem that you are experiencing is related to your card reader.
I am almost certain it is.
Is there anyone having this problem who has never used the SD card in a card ready - I think not.
Try this registry patch
I did it & now I no longer suffer any SD card wipping 8)
Great thanks alot ill give it a try,did u make the patch?
No, its just a .reg file, you can run it using Resco Explorer 2003 or any other programs, or even you can enter the registry keys manually..
ezzkht, thanks!!!
what does it actually do?
Referring to what spadb said in the past forums, there is no key referring to FAT file system for the SD Card, which both the XDA I & XDA II have.
So, this registry hack will add the reference to these DLLs (which really reside in the Windows folder, but not referenced by anything!)
Plz refer to this post for more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7230
All the thanks go to spadb, not me!! I just made this registry file out of what he'd discovered.
thanks man
no problem dude,,, I hope this file will solve the SD wipping problem
If anyone has lost his data, I can help to get this data back again using undelete..
Ive just been having this problem recently and applied the reg fix, only the first key, is this enough and do I also need to format my sd card with the FAT32 instead of FAT16? Many thanks
The most important keys are:
"BlockTransferSize"=dword:00000028
"FSD"="FATFSD.DLL"
But i recommend to add the whole keys.
Use Resco Explorer 2003 (even the trial version works)
With a single clic, you will have this key imported.

bought a new 512mb Kingston Mini sd card . I cannot seem to transfer anything to it. Both my PC and the Wizard `see' the card and register the correct size but I cannot transfer anything to it. Any help appreciated. I read somewhere you need to format a new card on the wizard ??? how do I do this
you can use StorageTools
Hi Pat thanks for the reply.
What is the executable file you suggest ? is it for using on my PC or the wizard? whats the method ?cheers
its the desktop instalation of storage tools.
http://www.softwinter.com/storagetools.html
download link - http://www.softwinter.com/download.html
Its just pat hotlinked the exe file
yes, sorry. My post could have been a bit more explicit. By the way, what do you mean when you say you can't transfer anything to your card?
Is it just using ActiveSync or did you try your card on your PC with a card reader? If you do have a card reader then you don't really need storagetools . Just format it on your PC and it should be allright.
Another solution is to get WM5Storage (see this post) It will turn your Wizard into a USB drive so that you can copy files without the hassle of activesync or play music files on the card from the desktop, and since it will be seen as a usb drive...format it!
The guy who came up with WM5storage is a genius, I had been looking for this kinf of software ever since I had my fisrt smartphone years ago
Good luck
Hi Pat thanks thats brilliant.
I use a USB reader for the card but it is placed into a SD holder first because my 7:1 PC reader doesn't accept mini SD .
I can see the card and it registers the correct size 512Mb It seems to be accepting drag n drop in explorer and I can see the burn led writing to the card.
When I put it in the wizard it registers the card and offers to find the files so far so good. It then sees the files and transfers them to `libray'?but they don't show up in either the wizard's explorer or win media ?
well that was an interesting 15 minutes
Clicked on the link Danny gave and got a lockup followed by a BSOD from which the only escape was pull the power lead and reboot. I would advise anyone to treat with caution.
Hello again peanut!
You mean that just by clicking on a the link you got a BSOD? Amazing!
Back to your SD Card, have you tried 3rd party file explorer such as gsfinder (my favorite) or resco explorer to see if they access your card properly? And also try TCMP instead of WMP. For one, it's much better anyway and I've read somewhere (here I guess) that some people had trouble getting WMP to "see" their media files on the SD. Anyway, I guess it would be a good idea to reformat you card in either FAT32 or FAT16 with 512 bytes cluster so as to waste the minimum amount of storage
It may be related to a prolem I have periodically with firefox not loading . Ithink zone alarm is involved as well so I may need to re-install the lot
thanks for the suggestion about TCMP and yes I'll try a fresh format see what happens cheers
The link in my post was found by right clicking Pat12's link and looking at the URL.
All the links are from the same website and i seriously doubt anything is wrong with any of them, check your firewall as it can interupt file transfers and cause things to hang.
My mini sd card and my friends weren't working for banana's. untill i formatted them on the pc unsing a card reader. now they work fine.
never found out why the cards weren't correctly formatted to start with, guess i'm not bothered as they work great. they were also kingstons
thanks for your input RJ webb I'll try a re-format.
Danny your link is fine it was probably my zone alrm plus the drive had gone to sleep lol no blame mate just thanks for your help
Is it a branded card, where did you get it from?
I bought a 2gb unbranded one and it sometimes doesn't show up in the device, and sometimes corrupts the data on the card - so I assume its faulty/dodgy.
I've ordered a sandisk one to replace it with, hope that one works better.
Hi Scotland its a Kingston card I bought off ebay. Probably a crap card knowing my luck. I'll try re-formatting it on another computer maybe that will help.

I hate to ask the obvious, but is it locked with the little switch?
ha ha not so obvious actually because it was at first before I noticed it had a lock the other day. Thanks for the suggestion
Thought my Hermes (well SPV M3100) was playing up.
Turns out it can no longer see the 1GB storage card.
Used to work fine and then just stopped.
I can read it on my PC and the files are on it.
Put it back into the SPV M3100 and it tells me no storage card present.
Any idea how to rectify this?
Thanks
think ive read somewhere here.. (think wiki.. am not that sure) something about your problem...
will look up link for you..
GOT IT.. TRY HERE..
hope this helps...
Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I *think* I have a different problem.
The card just does not appear at all. It just doesn't think it has a storage card.
Ejecting and re-inserting has no effect. Will need to try an get hold of another MicroSD card to see if that works.
If anyone has any other suggestions, fire away please!
Howdy,
I did mention a while ago when asked about a 4gb card.
Depending on your OS (xp, or vista). You may have accidentally said yes to a 'do you want to format and scan the card ' whilst in your pc at some point.
This can kill the card as far as the phone considered.
Try re-formatting the card trying both fat and NTFS, in your PC
Anyhow, one format works one doesn't.
I have done this a few times to myself before I realised it
Good luck !
Any probs private email me if you like
If i plug out the MicroSD card and plug in again, the card might not be recgnized until reboot, or sometimes it can been found immediately. Can anyone tell me the reason?
I purchased a Samsung GT-I5801 Android phone and a 32GB micro sdhc card. My goal was to use it as a smart phone and an mp3 player; essentially as an iphone at a fraction of the price. The phone works great and the android apps are fun, but the mp3 player functionality has eluded me. I have about 20GB of music and I can’t get it onto the card and/or into the phone.
I have tried transferring the data directly onto the card in two different laptops (both running windows xp sp3-hotfixed to recognize high capacity sdhc cards). Both computers can see the cards and recognize them as 32GB cards. I can transfer files back and forth from the card. I have used windows explorer to transfer the files as well as other programs: Windows Media Player, Media Monkey, FreeFileSync, Doubletwist, Winamp, and Samsung Keis.
I have also tried transferring the music to the phone with the card installed in the phone. I have tried this via all the above programs, including wirelessly transferring via Winamp. The process either stops and/or fails unexpectedly (twice producing the blue screen of death) or appears to complete successfully but turns out to only produce 2GB of music on the card while showing 20GB of space used on the card. The entire file structure for the music files is there but most of the files are empty even though the transfer process shows that they should be there. Then, when I remove and install the card again, the 18GB of space is freed up again to show that only 2GB (or less) of music is there. It is not always the same 2GB of music either. It seems random as to what files are transferred.
I have done a factory reset on the phone twice to make sure that it’s not the corrupted music database on the phone that is preventing all the music being recognized. I have also reformatted the card 3 times during this process. I have tried the following usb connections settings options in the phone: Keis, media player, and mass storage. I have also tried with usb debugging turned on and turned off.
I have a couple of questions:
1- Has anyone else had similar problems and how did you solve it?
2- Is there a maximum file limit per directory, or for music in general?
I’m at the end of my rope here, and am starting to wonder if the money I’ve saved by not buying an Iphone is worth the time and aggravation of this process. I have never posted a question on a tech forum before, but I’m desperate after spending a couple of weeks trying to solve this on my own.
you laptops sd reader is not sdhc Compatibility
try format card in you phone

is the card working on your friends phone? you must have atleast one guy who has a mobile which supports 32 gb card transfer all the music you want and see if all songs are detected in that mobile or not, if not your memory card is defective otherwise there is problem in your mobile.
Thank you for your reply. According to the specs on my netbook (Samsung NP-NC10) the reader is sdhc compatible. I have ordered an usb sdhc card reader to test the theory. I'll let you know how that works. I have formatted the card at least 3 times in my phone and have tried to transfer files with the card installed in my phone via the supplied usb connection cable. I have the same results.
Am I right in assuming that if my phone and sdhc card are working properly then I should have no problems transferring a large amount of music?
Has anyone else transfered 20GB of music to their Android and had success using it as an mp3 player?
have you test your 32gb sd card is real 32gb?
try hdtune or other tools like in windows ,or try full format in windows ?
if windows is hang ,over 2gb is can't read and write ...
i think you sd is fake card ..
Thank you for your suggestion to use hdtune. I tested my card with hdtune pro and it is a 32gb card that is healthy and has no errors.
I guess this means that I have a bad mobile? I wonder about transfering all my files again and then trying a factory reset on the phone.
I have not considered rooting the phone as I am new to this, but would that be a potential solution for this problem?
is in hdtune error scan ,full scan 32gb is not error?
sd card and card reader in phone is very Weak..
Update on progress
I have now checked the card using hdtune and reformatted it twice. hdtune detected no errors at any time.
I also purchased a usb sdhc card reader specifically. Just in case my built in readers were malfunctioning, but that has not solved the problem either.
I can transfer the files to the card. I can even read and access the files on the card on my computer. However, when I put the card into the phone, but files are not there, and the file folders are empty. Then, when I put the card back into my computer the files are gone.
I found this link on another forum with the same problem. While it is comforting to know that I am not the only one with this problem, I am still looking for a solution. Has anyone found one?
Found the problem!
I downloaded the H2test and used it to test my card. hdtune and windows did not discover the problems with the card, but this program did.
Apparently I purchased a 2gb card that was labeled as a 32gb card. The packaging and printing on the card all look like a legitimate Kingston class 4 32 gb sd card, but the actual card only has 2 gb capacity.
Apparently, the card tricked my windows computers by writing an index for all of the files I was transferring but only actually transferring up to 2 gb of data. That is why I could read some of the files on my phone, but not others.
If you are having similar problems, I would highly recommend this program!
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/H2testw.shtml
Thanks to all who tried to help me, your suggestions were very helpful!
so the card is fake 32gb but only have 2gb.why hdtune error full scan can not find it?
My Yoga Book always says that my SD card is missing and I need to reinstall it. I install it as part of the internal storage, this might be the issue. I have gone through three different brands, Samsung microsd card does not work at all for me. Simply will not read, says it is incompatible. The other two work for about a couple hours but then I will reboot and sudenly it will not read and say it is not inserted, when it is. So frustrating. Also when the microsd card is unreadable, I have the second issue of the Book not coming back on after it sleeps or when the screen times out. To get the screen to come back on I have to take out the microsd card and the screen will come right on, but than says " the is no sd card, please insert." Any one else having this issue? I really want to like this little machine but it seems REALLY underbaked.
I have an idea of what is happening with my cards. I have a very good Samsung microsd but the machine first said "This card is too slow" !!! I set up the microsd card as "internal" storage not media storage. Well, the Book formats the card, uses it but on reboot it looses the card and says the card is either "not in" or, the card is "not compatible". So I try to reformat but the Book will not format it and neither will my PC or any other device. I keep getting that the micro sd card is now "write protected" or "cannot format raw data", so now I have two expensive micro sd cards that are completely useless and I am very very upset. I have one other card I can try to use in the Book and format it as "media" instead of "internal" but Im afraid it might raw format it too and Im stuck. AAARRGGHH. Any ideas on how to re-format these micro sd cards?
Hi! Any update regarding the issue? Would be really glad to know if you have resolved it as I am currently experiencing something similar with my Yoga Book (Windows). I have a 128GB microsd and sometimes it suddenly stops recognising it. I've never had the too slow error though. My card was formatted using NTFS.
Wondering whether the card tray design is bad, and if the card gets displaced when moving around. I'll try another card, and will update this post later.
Android must be formatted to fat32, although the best way is to format it in a Android device like your phone if needed. Not sure about your other issues. Is there an update from Lenovo maybe. My card reader is just fine. #knockonwood

Sadly I ended up buying a new microsd card. My two cards that I started with are still un accessible and useless. I format it to Fat32 and inserted into the YogaBook and designated the card as media. It's been working great ever since. Still annoyed that I am out $100 worth of micro SD cards
Good luck to you. I have the Android version.

Hi! (In my case) I think it was due to the "thickness" or dimensions of the microSD. I had one that was slightly thicker than the original card I was using for the Yoga Book. I swapped them, and haven't had any problem since then. Sorry to hear that you had to shell out another $100. That really sucks. Mine was sheer luck. (Thanks to the added "chunk.")
Hope this bit of info will be useful for other YB owners.
Unfortunately I can confirm that ;/
In my case I observed the same...
I have a model with windows. It's EXTREMELY slow! Generally, no just the SD card. Almost impossible to work on it. Lenovo sucks!
According to the SC slot I've tried many different SD cards and always the same... Time of copying 2GB file, calculated by windows, about 672 hours... Only...
This is my second computer from Lenovo, and the last one.
If you're migrating files, try doing small amounts and copy not cut and paste. Otherwise just take the card out and do it on a more robust pc.

I'm using an SD card and it seems to be running fine. Are you using it for something that needs regular access to your SD card? Like, installing Windows or a program on it? Because that will make transferring to and from the SD card very slow, or at least a lot slower than what it would usually be. The technology in the Yoga Book's SD card slot is old, so it can't handle stressful situations.
Hi, Thanks for your answers,
My main HD has 64GB, its not a lot of, so I thought about changing location of My Documents and all my files on the SD card. But after setting of paths to SD the computer froze due to it couldn't read SD fast enough.
So, I decided to move my personal folders back and tried to move files manually.
But the situation is the same :/
Don't you think that transferring of files on the another computer to SD card has no sens??
It is needed for me to move files from YB to another computer, so while I can't do it than the SD slot and whole Yoga Book is totally useless for me.
Do you think, guys, that it is possible to install Android on it?? There is a possibility to boot from the external USB-CD or just USB, but I couldn't find the Android version for YB.
Maybe with Android it will work??
Did someone of you tried to do it??
Thanks

I did delete Windows 10 and try install Android, however, I was not successful in getting it usable. So right now, Android is a no-go for those who have the Windows 10 version (although, you can install emulators that allow you to run Android apps). I usually try to minimise how many things I have on my Yoga Book - keeping apps to a minimum, and I've got my Downloads and Documents on my SD card and it's fine. Maybe your SD card is an old one?
Believe me, I've tried all possibilities, which came to my head
I bought three different SD cards (actually I have SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-II, 128GB, formated in exFat) and nothing.
I tried also to run linux, and I noticed a small difference in relation to Win10, that in linux the copying process is pending all the time, while Win10 is breaking the process every time and ordering me remove the write protection.
Hi guys,
I found a solution!!!
I don't know why, but I created two 64GB partitions (almost, just 50% and 50%) on the card and formatted as a fat32 and.... Suddenly it works!
Thanks for your attention!
Has anyone tried the 200GB or 265GB micro SD cards yet? google search seems indicate that it might work but not able to get any concrete proof.

Yes, I use a Samsung 256GB micro SD card fine in my YB. Insert it and format it using the YB and it'll format it as FAT32. Only problem with that is I need to convert/compress my larger than 4GB movie files to something smaller.
thanks to PPC_Ed's confirmation, I ordered a 200GB drive and was able to get it working on my Yoga Book Android.

I bought a cheap 512GB sd card on eBay for less than $12 from China. I have stored tons of stuff on it. Downloaded a 1080p movie onto it using the adapter on my laptop and the lap top wanted to fix issues. It did, and everything still is fine. It actually might not be 512gb, but I have more than 200gb on it and it works fine - no speed issues at all. Android still reports 512gb total capacity (499 gb). I couldn't be happier with the $12 spent.
