MyTouch3g Slide Android build forHD2 ? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Sorry if it has been asked before, but is it possible to make a build from the Slide's rom?
If not, then what about just the pull-down lockscreen?

Any sense build has the pull down lock screen. Mdeejay just released a desire z port. Looks good from his screenies. No camera hope its not a big deal..

Yeah but on the Slide, it pulls the wallpaper down too when you pull the slider down and the lockscreen wallpaper can be changed independantly of the homescreen wp. All in all its the best Sense rom I've seen, if maybe a bit girly lookin to me somehow. And since the slide has a slower proc and less ram than HD2, it stands to reason that it should run pretty fast if ported to the Leo right?

Bumped because I still think it would be a great rom to run on the Leo

I would think the resolution differences would cause a problem. All builds I've seen so far are based on WVGA devices, not HVGA.

Ohhh. I was unaware of the resolution difference. I just assumed they were both wvga because they both have nice big hi-res screens. This is the first I have heard of hvga, isnt it possible to accomodate the res difference by adjusting the screen density kinda like on the hyperdroid build the density id different and the gui takes up less screen space? Probly just wishful thinkin, but Im tellin you a rooted MyT3gS build would make Sense worth running on HD2

what is running on the mtslide is a version of sense. check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780525
i think thats what you were looking for. lockscreen pulldown included. this is for the right resolution, ROM has been tweaked by mdeejay for HD2.

HVGA devices were standard for Android before the Desire and NexusOne. The Hero, Eris, MyTouch, G1, all those are HVGA, it's a middle ground between QVGA and VGA. I'm a bit new to Android but I do know that with WinMo, most porting is done from a higher resolution to a lower resolution, since shrinking graphics causes no loss in quality. But if you go from a lower resolution to a higher resolution, images are expanded, and a loss of quality occurs. So you'd need resources of the resolution you're porting to. Hope that makes sense... I think this is why no HVGA roms are made for the HD2 (besides the fact they're outdated).

yeah I gotta say the mytouch SLIDE ROM is cool, I used way back on my myTouch 3G when it was ported, it was pretty cool, but coan only imagine how badass it would be on the HD2

Advantages of Desire HD build over regular sense

Hi Guys,
So there are many Desire HD Sense build around now for the HD2. I've tried them few though most of the issues have been sorted out and are smooth also. They still don't feel as snappy as the regular sense and I don't see much advantages over regular sense...the flying animations are also there in MDJ Revolution build....Is it about the extra eyecandy only for which all this hype is...or am I missing something
Regards
Im on froyo hd 4.3 by mdeejay. AND IT ROCKS. Desire HD builds have latest gen sense which is highter resolution(Several elements are smaller so that they fit in the screeen) that Evo and everything just looks better.
For me the bigest advanced of HD builds, is the extended goodies in Browser, and for me is faster than other froyo's.
Well I don't use the inbuilt Android Browser Much...its mosty opera mini for me..becoz its faster and saves bandwidth...
One thing i liked though is inbuilt task list in notification bar...its definitely a cool feature..
The percentage battery bar, keyboard with arrows and revised font size are worth the using of the Desire HD Rom.

for me: 1)lcd density (displays more on the 4.3 inch screen, unlike before...it showed the same as a 3.2" device)
2)htc sense . com
3)customizable (skins, skins, skins!!!!)
3) improved camera
I agree with op, the desire hd builds lag.. This is no fault of the developers as it lags on a DHD...
Personally vanilla android wins my vote.

i liked the desire HD build until the superfast rom i got with quadrant score 2775 :S itz the fastest smoothest i had till now... no lags at all..using 2 memory cards now... one for desire HD one for JDMS ultimate

I like the fact that you can re-order your pages, which I've not seen in any other build (I don't think it's in the Evo build).
When you click home twice, it brings up the pages and if you long-hold on one you can drag it round to re-arrange them.
That's a very nice feature that I'd like to see introduced into other launchers.
I'm with FrAsErTaG though - vanilla Froyo FTW!
^^yes, ordering of pages is nice...but its mostly a one time thing...atleast for me..so once its set...its all set...
Funny, I'm not able to see higher pixel density or such...its appearing exactly like sense clean which i used earlier...i'm on core droid HD v0.2 btw

[Q] Calling Devs: Why not more Desire HD / Evo builds base?

We ve all noticed that builds made from HD and EVO are of higher resolution than the ones from Desire / Nexus One.
Once you try them (evo/desireHD) you think that you ve got a higher resolution.
All are 480x800, which means the res its the same for the screen, but i think not for the build.
LCD Density is a workaround, but truely ? it sucks when the keyboard becomes tiny and everything else as well.
Is there any way to have CM6 based on DesireHD or EVO or even more builds from EVO instead of Desire as base?
I know that desire's is the most compatible but it sucks if you compare it with HD.
Even in WinMo6.5 graphics looks a bit better.
We have bought a 4.3" display phone because we like having big screens. Not because we are blind
There already a couple of dhd and evo builds, why is that not enough for you? I'm glad we have this variety here, not everyone likes sense.
And no CM is never going to have a sense release. It's not based on desire by the way, CM is its own base.

[Q] (Q)how to get Desire HD/Z Skins on normal Desire Builds

b4 anyone says Google before starting a thread, id like to say ive done nothing but googled this lol... ok to the point.
i love my hd2 which is romed with a normal desire rom. it runs and performs better then the desire HD roms ive found (better battery too) . but the desire hd roms just look so much cleaner and eye candy. even thou the sense interface structure is almost identical on both roms types, the desire hd looks more clear and clean. Fonts are smaller and shaper and the overall screen resolution seems higher. so what do i want?
Well i can live with the lower screen resolution feel of the standard desire but is there anyway to decrease the font size of the text globally which would apply to the htc sense interface widgets(mail, bookmark, freindstream etc)...lastly anyway to port the desire hd skins? (slate for example)..ive found several ports but they only work on desire hd/z build roms. Not found too much on ports to normal desire.
Would like to thank everyone in advance for their help.
My ultimate goal is to have the stability and performance of the normal desire rom with the some of the look and feel of the hd/Z roms. If we can decrease the font size and port some skins we can achieve this.

sense 3.0? are hd2 hw specs high enough?

I've tried a number of sense 3 roms, and while I'm liking what I see and for the most part the roms are useable, it seems that there are a number of areas where there are significant lags where the phone seems to freeze. this usually happens when switching apps, screens etc. and it happens on every sense 3 rom I've tried to date.
through some investigation, it seems sense 3 is native to dual core processors, (correct me if I'm wrong) which would indicate to me that the HD2's hardware specs are too low to run sense 3 properly (sort of like running win7 on a P3) it can be done, but is it worth it?
I know that the chefs have got it further than say POC, but will it get much better than it already is? (actual useability in terms of sense 2.1 useability that is)
sorry if i don't make much sense ( no pun intended) but i am not quite sure if i got the idea across
oh my hd2 is EU version (T9193)
i dont see those lags, im using dungs DHD sense 3 rom and its fast, there might be a few lags but i put that down to my class2 sd card
tried a sense 3.5 rom ? the bliss rom is from a lower spec handset than the hd2
I'm also on Dungs DHD 3 sense rom, I also found it laggy, but then I tried Supercharger script, and it's way better.
I use setting 7 and 17 in the latest beta. It reallymakes a difference.
#EDIT
I changed my supercharger settings to the 512Mb multitask option (I can't remember the number) and that seems to be smoother.
But that said, I'm still looking for another ROM, theres just to much lag.
Or maybe I should just buy a DHD
I've been using Dungphp's Desire HD sense 3.0 port also, and I haven't had any glitches or laggyness, it runs really well. I'm using an American HD2 so running it all from NAND might have some difference from having to have an ext4 also, I dunno though.

Sense 4 and Sense 4 Lite?

Ok, so, I downloaded Taz's Sense 4 ROM. Wow, this is smooth. But one thing buggers me - is this some kind of Slim version of Sense? Because, for example, I don't seem to find the setting to modify the lockscreen style. And there are a few other things too. Could it be just that this is a leaked version, so not feature complete? Or is there something more complicated in this story?
It isn't. This is full Sense 4.0, but considering it's a leak, it may (or may not) be missing some features.

The lockscreen shortcuts mirror whatever is on the dock.
Whatever Taz's rom is philosophically, it is a better fit for our phone than any of the sense 3.x roms. (though our devs did amazing work with those versions)
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA
The ROMs that taz and ajhavery have posted are based off the One V leak. The One V uses a stripped down version of Sense 4, it must be part of what HTC did to optimise the software for it. Some features are missing, like notification power toggles and customisable lockscreen shortcuts. These missing features are part of what makes it possible for it to be smooth.
the truth is this is Sense 4.0A.
We will be more sure when another sense 4 rom leaked.
Even though,I love this rom very much!!!
Hm,i dont think that missin power toggles and lockscreen links are enough to make a ROM (that challenges the specs of a htc one xl) fit the one V
There are many 3D effects in the "normal" Sense 4.
Any Menu where u can choose tabs at the bottom (for example the phone) are designed a cubes... so the effect if u changed the tabs is gone in S4 Light
The "recent Apps" Menu looks like the one of Android 4. Whereas the real Sense 4 has an 3D sight as when pressing shift+windows on Windows 7. Maybe the Flipclock has its 3D effect too, but hasnt realized that.
In the end, the devs will make the real Sense 4 running fluid on our phone as well just a matter of time
sense
hi does anyone know what the difference in battery usage is for sense 3 vs sense 4, Because I plan to root and I dont which to opt for
I dont mind the overal design its not a big thing
Hm, 4 is debloated and uses less ressources, so i guess it saves a bit of energy. We need a Display-brightness-mod to adjust the (way to powerful) brightness in dark areas. But if i am right, rooting and flashing the right rom (maybe with an OC Deamon) saves a lot battery, because it will underclock the CPU when theres no need for higher clockrates...
So, we might, no, surely will get a *full* Sense 4 experience once the devs get their hands on an official/final leaked rom?
Hm, I guess so. The light Sense 4 is more fitting the specs of the Desire Z. So, i think the priority of optimization goes to the light Build. Remember how long and (only devs know) how much work it took to make Sense 3.5 running fluid on desire z. I think Sense 4 (full) can fight on equal terms with 3.5
There is a hell of a lot work to do for the devs...

Well, the first builds of Sense 3.5 which ran smoothly enough to not make you pull your hair out just arrived 8-9 weeks ago. Around the time ICS source code was released.
Anyway, HTC said that they tried to make Sense 4 more trimmed down. I do think they were referring to both their versions, not just the „lite” one, am I right?
I've read that Sense 4a is made to be lighter, for phones with less memory, like the G2. Lock screen customization is a feature that didn't make the cut.
Sense 4A is meant for the One V which has less powerful hardware. It's a slightly stripped down version of Sense 4 which the One X and One S will be running. I'm pretty sure HTC stripped it down a bit so that it could run smoothly on that hardware.
I also know that HTC admitted to Sense becoming bloated, and that they're trying to reduce the "bloat", which is why Sense 4 appears to be simpler and has a few features missing.
Well, I think that's fine. 4A seems to be on the lighter side. Sense tries to follow the principle of function and speed above glitter. It also seems to be on the minimal side when compared to 3.x...Hence the sacrifice of customization options as such.
Sent from my ILWT-powered DZ
I am currently trying out the new Sense 4.0A, and I quite like it.
I am coming from using a supercharged overclocked Energy Rom with swap enabled, which is OK (its my DD), apart from a couple of things - performance on games such as cut the rope etc is laggy, and opening mail/messages can take up to ten seconds sometimes.
The only issues I have currently with the new sense (apart from the camera of course) is that I cannot work out if it is possible to have more than 5 home screen panels. I don't know if I have just not worked it out or if it is a limitation of Sense 'lite'.
I can live with that by using folders anyway.
I think I would rather go for the cut down version that still keeps most of the functionality, and gain speed and reliability. Seriously, as soon as the camera works I think this is a DD for me.
I am currently testing a Sense 4.0 ROM and I really like it. Cannot wait until everything is running correct.
