[Q] is my phone bricked? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Alright, so i got this phone from a friend to try to fix, as i've done some work with android phones before, mostly just following directions from various forums on this website.
the phone is stuck at its bootloader scree. this is what it says
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ONG
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.19.26I (i, not 1)
May 27 2009, 19:06:41
HBOOT (i believe its selected)
<BACK> FastBoot Mode
i can't do anything. buttons don't seem to do anything, and windows doesn't recognize the phone when i plug it in.
there's no SD or SIM card in it, but i can get one if i need to load a file.
please help me. i have no idea what to do

Could you list the SPL version for which you have this problem?
E.g. : HBOOT-1.33.0004 (SAPP10000) : Sapphire PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G : CPLD-10
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP30000)

any help?
thanks
operating system?
MAC? LINUX? XP? VISTA?
I am using linux and having this issue...
Im using XP
ok well then the problem doesnt seem to be isolated to a single operating system... maybe the bootloader is somehow blocking fastboot???

Any ideas thus far? Is the SPL the issue or is it our pc's???
Heard that on mytouch had the same thing to.
this is driving me nuts... and no one has any insite... i have tried to contact haykuro but he never responds... i really wish someone knew something... my phone will let me adb shell but i can not do anything with it... everything is permission denied... which sucks... and my fastboot wont allow... ugh i really want to root this phone and have it like my g1
What does 'fastboot devices' show?
I seem to remember having that problem before I had everything setup correctly
running the command
fastboot devices
still shows the device properly, it seems permissions have been altered due to the widespread use of rooting ones phone... seems like a preventative measure some carriers have taken
SPL
Is there anyone on the boards that know more about the SPL? maybe a way to replace this SPL with another before gaining root??? there's got to be a way... i know there is a genius on here somewhere...
maybe!?
Ok how about this, I'm using linux and when the device is plugged in for adb the command lsusb lists the device as having productid of 0c02. Now when I switch the device to fastboot, lsusb gives productid of 0fff. But shouldn't it read 0c01 ??? I almost think this is where the problem lies. Is there a way to change this so that the fastboot executable communicates with the correct productid?
I have a feeling that the SPL on these devices is checking the signature on the file before booting it, where previous versions didn't do this.
signature
Checking the signature on what file before it boots?

[Q] my 3G is stuck.

This isn't even my phone it's a friend's. He wasn't trying to root or load a custom rom but this is what it's showing..

I have an Og Droid so I'm familiar with rooting and romming but not on this
phone. I get this once the phone is turned on and won't go past this.. Is it bricked..or can this be saved. ?

This comes up immediately after you try to power on the device?
have you tried to downgrade to 1.5 or 1.6. that fixed mine

[Q] RUU for 32b (Is it not possible?)

I have a T-Mobile 32b.
I'm going use the RUU provided here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887213
Being that it's an .exe file, is this something that can be run on the PC while having the phone connected via USB?
Also, what preparations do I need to make on the phone before I do this? ex. Does the phone need to be in recovery mode for this to work?
Google USB drivers are already installed.
Thanks for the help all.
i think you have to set your phone into fastboot mode.
(Shut down your phone -> press volume down + power)
God.... This is sooo frustrating.
I have the right device and the right RUU. The RUU and PC recognizes the device and I'm getting unknown error 155. I can't think of anything else where I'm going wrong...

[Q] Sapp310 32 A Can't exit Ruu mode

I used to rooted and unlocked this phone. And installed a rom. Then I think I installed a wrong HBOOT or a radio and it bricked. I tried to debrick but it didn't work. Then I put the phone aside for a while. Now I want to make it work again. I did a lot stuff on it that I don't remember. Now phone starts in RUU mode.
I'm a noob so I don't know every commands or how these things work so I followed some guides but I've got errors every time. Is my phone bricked totally? Is JTAG necessary? or is there a way to get out from RUU mode and install correct HBOOT and RADIO? or if those correct than what am I doing wrong? This is a My Touch 3G T-mobile. And it says Sapp310 under the battery and there's an A next to barcodes. I don't know if it means 32A or not.
Recently the phone has

Problem (looping) with 32b after trying to install a ROM.

Believe me, I tried a lot here and on google before posting here.
I tried to install a ROM on my htc magic 32b and certainly was not what I should.
Information from my device:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G

I've read very, very much. I read that I have to change the SHIP for ENG.
Also read about ruu, but I found a will for my device, nor know how to run.
First of all, my phone is only on LOOP. I can normally access the fastboot USB.
But does not accept commands, I believe it because of S-ON.
I do not know how to install an img it to get S-OFF.
Could someone help me get back my life device?
Thank you and with the help of google translator.
