Any one found a good over the shoulder bag that plays nice with our tablet and has some free space for cords and such?
I would totally recommend this series Golla G-Bags ,very compact and have good amount of space ( there is a pic with Ipad there so you can get the idea)

Are you serious? I'll just buy a solar charger, normal bag and a cartload of beer for that price.
I have a extra small sized Timbuk2 messenger bag that works great. I also use a Crumpler brand bag for my DSLR and they also make laptop-style messenger bags as well. For my work laptop, I have a Tumi, and I carry around my tablet with that if I take it to the office. All three companies make high quality products that last forever and are stylish.
This one looks pretty good. I may get it.

Or this one.

I got this one:

My tablet fits without removing it from its case and there are a couple of pockets for cables, etc.
Dont know if this would work but might be an option
amazon.com/Kensington-K62571US-Sling-Bag-iPad/dp/B003GSL6UQ/[/url]
I found quite a few that looked good but ended up buying a sleeve instead because I'm always bring my DSLR gear backpack with me and I can stow the tablet accessories in there. However, I would search for "netbook bags" and you'll get endless options to choose from.
I'm still always shocked that there are numerous bag and case options that cost half the price of the sophisticated device you're stowing in it.
I found a Mobil-IT "Ultimate Travel Essentials" Netbook Caddy, at Office Depot that works very well. The only problem is that it may be discontinued now...
I use SMT iPad Micro Bag that I bought for missus iPad but since she doesn't use it I take it for my A500. Fits just fine naked and even with Acer case on I can still zip up though it's bit tight. With long shoulder strap it's pefect to carry over my shoulder and have the zipped pocker as well as open pocket and big pouch on the other side for A4 papers...
OP did you find what you are looking for? I too use my photo bag to carry mine around. Vangard Up Rise, I Carry the tablet DSLR, flash and lenses.
I just ordered this timbuk2 bag from amazon. It looks pretty good and according to the company website will fit my Acer. It should arrive in a couple days, I'll try to post some pics and let you know how it works.

I have this case,
http://www.caselogic.com/case_logic...ail/index.cfm?modelid=154701&lastterm=ULA-110
Fits perfectly, the inside opening is a little thick, made for a 1.5" netbook but I added a couple layers of foam and the G Tab fits like a glove. Just about the perfect case and it's on sale.
Here it is on Amazon also,

not really, most of the bags are very sporty for a lack of a better word with straps and clips and such. i was more looking for a simple bag with velcro or even no really locking flap that will fit the tablet vertically with a single tone bag possibly gray with a movable pad on the strap.

I got this one too. If you are looking to carry just the tablet with a keyboard, a compact mouse and a couple of cords this is a very good size. Thought, it won't take anything beyond that. The tablet can fit with a case.
I use that :

It's cheap, compact, good quality, the tablet fits nicely in it and there's plenty of room for cables, headset, whatever. It has two room inside, one of them having a velcro that keeps the tablet vertically.

I grabbed the Targus iPad CityGear Messenger bag; the A500 is a bit too wide to fit into the intended interior sleeve, but the main compartment is just the right size for the tablet + a mini USB keyboard w/ trackpad, and I keep a 500gb USB hard drive + cables in the outer pockets

I love the look of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and I take good care of my stuff so I don;t really need a think and bulky case. I saw the leather pouch on their webite, and thought it was perfect, since I just need something to protect it from bumps and scratches while carrying it.
Has anyone seen this, used it, had a hands-on with it? Does anyone own it?
Are there cheaper 3rd party ones?
Edit: This forum will not let me link to the pouch, but it is $29.99.
I had the book cover case on order but I ended up canceling it. I found a belkin case at best buy for $45 its thin doesnt add much bulk at all and it it folds into a stand. I just wanted something thin and easy to protect the screen. I'm not worried about dropping it.
I dont have the name or model number I left the box on my desk at work. I'll update later with the info. I couldnt find it on the belkin website or besbuy.
Funny thing the best buy employees didnt even know they had it when I went in last friday.
I bought the leather one that was right next to that one and I do not think it adds a lot of bulk to it but it def protects it and thats what is most important to me.

Yep, I'm with you, I didn't want anything too bulky with so many flaps, etc.
I'm glad I bought the pouch. It's perfect and it's a tight fit. Just to test how tight it is, I held it upside down with the opening side down and the Tab didn't slide out at all.
I got the pouch, it was free since I was one of the first 200 at the launch on the 8th. I use it daily but I will be swapping it most likely for the book case by samsung when I can get it a bit easier.......I have a belkin leather one that is still unopened lol idk it seems a bit bulky
I have the Belkin folio stand. I only bought it because of convenience. My cat nearly jumped on to my tablet while it was laying on the couch, so I wanted something to protect it (and the Samsung case isn't available yet).
The fit is very snug, and it folds up to various viewing angles. It has a nice elastic strap that can be pulled around to hold it shut.
It is a _little_ bulky. The selling point on this tablet is the weight and thickness. That being said, the case weighs almost as much as the tablet. So, don't get it if weight is important to you.
Overall it's pretty nice. Probably a bit overpriced. When people want to play with the tab though, I always take it out of the case. It's so much prettier without it .
The Samsung Book Cover case just shipped and should be here by week's end. I'll keep you posted on it. Personally, I don't like anything that I have to keep pulling it out and pushing it in. I feel it's a matter of time before a scratch occurs.
Please do, I have belkin one and just don't love it. The Samsung one is back ordered again, and would like your impressions on it.

Thanks for information on the cases, but I don't want a case anymore. I'd rather have a nice pouch or neoprene sleeve that will protect it from scuffs of traveling.
The thing is I don't want to spend $30 for a sleeve. I just want a nice sleeve that I can carry the Tab in, without breaking the bank. It doesn't have to be an "official" sleeve, as long as it fits, I don't care.

Since the Tab is longer than the XOOM, does it pop out more? How durable is the sleeve?
So I wanted a case that looked like an actual book, and I could only find ones for ipad and e-readers. So, I went to the local thrift shop, picked up a hilarious hard cover book, gutted it and turned it into a cover for my Tab 10.1
Now, I haven't finished the final gluing or figured out a practical way that I can make it a stand(maybe you have some suggestions?). As for making it a stand, I don't want to add to the thickness, but still want it to be easy enough to prop up.
The pictures are attached.
Just wanted to add one more thing: MMMM! Blender recipes! Bet you never thought of that!
This is... cool I'm looking for a good case for a while now. The size seems to fit quite good. Probably gonna try it for myself
I thought about doing this a long time ago, but never found the right book. I just can't see using a recipe book, maybe a gun cleaning manual, something a bit more manly.
As for making it stand, rubberized tape on the corners, simple to do.

Well the book is partly to protect from would-be thieves. Who would steal a book of blender recipes?
Also, rubberized tape? Would that hold up to furious tapping? I also wanted it to be able to do very low angles too, so I figured I needed some sort of Velcro or string solution...
Velcro would work, at least for a bit. Look at how commercial cases work and find a solution you think you can duplicate. I always end up putting my glasses case under the thing for elevation even with the commercial case I use. As far as thieves goes, that was why I thought a gun cleaning manual might deter them.
ok so this is something that confuses me why does everyone that buys a non ipad tablet have to buy a folder/folio style case, what about some of us that want a case that just has grip on the back for holding while slouching on the couch? i found only one brand for the galaxy tab 10.1, the gumdrop and its $50, looks nice but come on i want choices . and btw OP this actually looks really cool, just has no use to me lol.

The point of having a case is so that the tablet is protected when you are carrying it around and ideally to act as a stand when you want to prop it up. I prefer having it out of the case when I am using it normally, but on the road it's great to have a case.
As for gripping it when laying on the couch, I don't feel the need for any extra case/grip. That would just make it more bulky. Is it too slippery for you or something?

Considering you're stuck in the 1950s, I'll one up you: if you need a manual, it's not "manly."
Nice case OP. I'm sticking with the vipertech clip case for functionality (same as pyroskins and atech), and still available on amazon for <$15...
Great idea. Though I find my 10.1 a little too big to carry around, it's mostly used for in-bed browsing.
I usually carry my Nook Tablet that uses a B&N book cover. It's great for carrying around inconspicuously.
Here's an idea: you can also glue/double-side tape one of those cheap ebay $6-10 TPU cases to a hollowed out book cover. It could look like a factory job -- and be unobtrusive and secure. 3M indoor/outdoor mounting tape should work well.

Unfortunately that would prevent me from easily taking the tab out of said case. At home I don't really need a case, it's just when I am out and tossing it into a bag or something.

Actually yes it is slippery on the back, and i do not ever wish to prop up my tablet i have a tv for watching videos and i rarely take it out of the house so i dont need to protect the front
That's pretty nifty. I will be trying this once I find a thrift store. I've got some ideas I want to try now.

Last night my TF101-B1 32GB Transformer slid off the matress and the screen stopped working after I picked it up off the floor. Today, I went out and got a Torx to open her up and got my screen working again....except the left side of my screen (HOME button and further) does not work with touch events. Plus the one torx screw is now too stripped to be able to get it back out again to see what other ribbon may be lose. I tried penetrating it with an awl and forcefully unscrewing it but no luck, and ain't willing to destroy the frame to remove it by greater force.
Going to every local store tonight, all I could find was one carrying TF101-A1/16GB models with a promise of Prime's available in a month; and two stores with Prime on display but not in stock. I'm already using over 10GB on my tablet, so that cost and whatever 16GB memory card they have, isn't gonna cut it...so I finally broke down and ordered a TF201-B1/32GB Prime online and will seek out a new dock when possible. Amazon was asking $540 for the original 32GB TF! For the cost of e.g. eBay, it's not all that much better. Thankfully I was able to get my tablet working enough to be able to take a more recent backup. I will confess, I did think about buying the 16GB model and swapping some internals if I could find which board has the eMMC, but it's to risky a job for $399.99.
The TF101 has been my trusty "Tab Book" since September, and is a B50. What do you do with old tablets?

Haha...sure it "slid" off the mattress. You sleep on an inclined bed? I want a Prime too...but am passing on it because of the speaker placement...I know...it's an OCD.
You could take a dremel and cut a slot in the screw then use a regular screwdriver to remove the screw. Or epoxy/jbweld the totx bit into the screw and when it dries remove the screw and replace it. I'll be damned if one screw would stop me from fixing my tf!
I said the same thing about needing a torx to fix my blank screen lol. My awl is the closest thing I have to a dremel I have, and trying to carve a slot didn't gel. I guess a thing of epoxy is only like $3-$5 at home depot, so it is worth a shot. I assume just fill the head, than after it dries, cram a trusty flat head in and twist it out like a normal screw? I can't say that experiences with modeling cement, elmars, wood, and super gluing crap together over the years gives me much faith in that but it's worth a shot.
My bed is like 2 matresses, 2 boards, and a box spring or two, all stacked together, which makes it waist high; didn't have anywhere else to put the extra when we moved last year. Plus my mother's dog had wet the sheets/padding, so it was on a slip & slide with the texture of the mattress at it's back panel .
I suppose I could try and mount it to my dash as a GPS, or ship it to my fiancée since she enjoyed playing off it over new years. I'd be hesitant of giving it to her or any normal user with the left most inch'ish of the screen on the fritz, unless I could fix the thing. Even if I did, I'd worry about the ribbons getting loose no matter how well I packed it. If I can't fix it and the Prime works fine, I'd probably part with it for the cost of a dock or S&H to someone like Roach or goodintentions. Hell if I could fix it, I might rather keep it and give my fiancée the Transformer Prime.
I don't like to fail, and I don't like useful equipment to go to waist.
I've wondered that myself. Mobile hardware is advancing at such a rapid rate will we start updating our tablets as often as we do our phones? We need to launch all our old tablets into space as space junk.
theres something called a grabit, its for stripped screws of all types, works great for removing stripped screws, i have used it on torq screws on my ps3 that got rounded off cause i didnt have the exact right size.
Always use the right tool for the job. Then you won't have to worry about stripping screws.
*groan* that's the painful part. Flats, phillips, hexes, I've got in just about every size but never had a torx before in my life. The store was out of T05 sized torxes in the tools section, so I just bought one of those "Sets" that you stick the heads on a base, and it was the worst ten bucks I ever spent. I ended up using what it labelled T06, because the T04 wouldn't fit and someone at the kits manufacture apparently thought it funny to put a PH000 inplace of the T05 written on the holder.
This is probablly what I get for both going to Fry's instead of Home Depot (which Google Shopping said had them in stock), and being a cheap bastard at making do with what they had.

Put some epoxy in the stripped head, stick the size 4 in the epoxy and leave it there to dry (make sure it stays up straught). Once its dry stick the screw driver part on it and remove it.
Epoxy is much much better than superglue.
If that doesn't work you could take it to a computer repair shop and see if they can get it out.

If you're reluctant, why go to the Prime? Pick up another TF101 on the cheap. That way you won't have to deal with faulty GPS, poor Wifi / Bluetooth, downgraded monaural audio, and a tablet that won't work with your existing dock (assuming you own one).
I've tried to make the case to myself to upgrade, solely for the faster CPU, but there are so many drawbacks to the Prime that I can't bring myself to do it. That metal case is another one -- there's barely a mark on the plastic parts of my Transformer, but the metal Asus uses is so soft one can bend it easily with nothing more than your fingers, and even treating my tablet like gold dust, the metal is covered in tiny nicks and scrapes. I imagine that the Prime will be like that all over within weeks of purchase, where if it wasn't for the metal parts, my TF101 would still look indistinguishable from brand new.

I could get a 16GB A1 for $400 easily but nothing else here in Duluth before the Prime shipments come in next month and no promises of 32GB OG's. I've got 17.09GB free out of 27.33GB user addressable on my 32GB B1 and I feel cost wise, I'm better shipping a 32GB tablet than fixing it by buying a class 10 MicroSD card here. That means TF101-B1 or TF201-B1. Versus pot luck on both QC and serial (I have a B50 tab & B60 dock), I figure Prime = better chances of Jelly Bean, plus access to Tegra 3 crap if anything good comes down the pike. I was very, very, very tempted to order another TF101-B1 but either way, it's still a chunk of money and if I can manage to fix this thing, if need be the Prime will likely have higher resale value on eBay .
My plastic had exactly one nick in it before I did open heart surgery on it on Sunday. Not really worried about the metal case getting scratches as long as it isn't penetrated - I'm more worried about that damn metal blocking WiFi. At home I'm usually close to the router and could easily make a bridge or repeater in the next room, but at work, I get like lower -70s dbm in a building that has the same problem as the Prime. If I have to I'll cut a freaking wifi hole in the backplate and epoxy a plastic sheet over it.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
If only one corner of the screen doesn't work why don't you just turn the tablet the other way?
And if it comes down to not being able to use it for yourself as someone said before donate it to one of our amazing devs so they can test out their roms
I like the idea of epoxying a torx bit to the screw. In a similar fashion you could epoxy a small nut to the screw and use a hex driver to remove it when the epoxy is dry.
Today I lost my interest in buying a Prime. ASUS has already announced the replacement for the Prime:
http://www.slashgear.com/asus-transformer-prime-tf700t-revealed-with-1080p-display-09207646/
I love taking my Transformer on trips with me and using it as a GPS. I love the extra screen real estate over my phone and my gf's Garmin. ASUS has announce the Prime no longer has a GPS... if you read through the Prime forum.
Turning it the other way is a good idea, flipping it over would inky break the X's in the notification bar .
No joy with the epoxy but today I took a piss at my desk. Noticed while juggling NY TF/TFP that I could long tap an icon in the dead area but nit drag it away....leaned back and was wait, this isn't the Prime, it's docked...played around for a bit and had the same but with it nit accepting the touches every few taps, especially in spots like e,g, the back button. After a while the bloody thing went back to normal and a fully operational battle road again. Except it just crashed and rebooted for the first time in months.... but still works oerfectly fir the moment aaàrrrrgrgggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sometimes modern technology really pisses me off!
P.s. my prime has no wifi/GPS trouble so far.

Not sure where u are but try PC world or curry's website (same shop really but ether site works as its the same site just different names) and if you not in UK try. evga.com
They have replacement styles there too
And eBay has scream protector's gorlor
The problem is I live in germany, so I can't go for newegg or pcworld
And while i would consider buying it for 30 (altough i think this is ALOT for a cover), 40+ postage to germany would be too much.
But thanks anyway for the ebay link, didn't find this myself, will keep an eye on it.

tegra note 7 Slide cover video review
Here is my video review and unboxing of my tegra note 7 Slide Covers for my tablets. Have had the slide covers for about a week now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlqzSDhDOG4&
I have two slide covers and for my third tablet will look for a third party case just to have something different. I am happy with the slide cover though.
I think Nvidia has changed the procedure wholesalers are releasing these tablet, in that the flap cover in already installed on the tablet. Example the EVGA I got today has the flap cover already installed.

There have been bundle deals in India and Japan where the cover had been sold with the tablet.

Yeah. I think that initially people had such trouble getting the flaps in that they maybe doing it wholesaler wide to install the flaps. Example people were scratching their cases, to breaking the flap pin and socket hinges, due to how tight the grip was.
I hope they're still including the small insert for when you're not using the cover... I don't care for that nasty edge left without anything in the slot. For the record, I insert and remove my cover frequently (I like it for protection but don't care for using the tablet with it on as it's harder to grip), and it does get easier, though I usually have to use something like fingernail clippers to remove the small insert, and that's caused a lot of little scratches in that area. It's a shame they used such a soft and cheap plastic for these things, but hey, you get what you pay for, and I'm definitely not complaining considering the punch this little $200 tablet packs. Now bring on the KitKat so I can fall in love all over again!
I really like the flap cover. Great to close it and your tablet goes into power saving mode.
Anyone tried other third party case ? Found one with an affordable price ($13 rather than $30) with complete protection on http://www.amazon.com/MiTab-Leather-Cover-Rotational-Nvidia/dp/B00GOQIODO/ . There are two 5-star reviews . What do you guys think about them?
Almost bought the original evga slide cover. It's double the price and the reviews said they are flimsy and not reliable. Found the third party case and canceled the original evga slide cover order straight away.
And one more thing, should I buy a screen protector? Or will the case alone do the trick?
I kind of like the cover, but it does feel a bit flimsy, and I'm not sure about the big silver 'Tegra Note' bit of detail. I've also had the holding pins ping out once already, and I've only had it a day!
Has anyone managed to get it working successfully at a shallow angle for typing too? The magnet system works fine for propping it up for watching movies etc, but if I try and use it in the 'wedge' configuration for typing, it just collapses with any pressure.
Update:
Found it in ebay uk for 30 now.

Still more then 40€ for a simple cover, but is seems like the only choice for now.

Indeed! I noticed that too straight away... it doesn't stay well in that "wedge" configuration. It works better if you stick it to the magnets closest to the hinge (there are two sets of magnets in the tablet), but it's still not that great.
I really want to like the cover, but I like to palm my tablet in one hand while walking around with it, and that annoying silver hinge is just too flappy and annoying. I think I'm just going to get a neoprene slip case to transport it around with.
Nice but very expensive... Anything around 10$?
Do all of these work OK with The Advent Vega..?
