Seems to lack wimax and keyboard...

My Transform has a slideout keyboard.

New Acer may be a replacement for Athena?

So new there are very few specs so far, but the keyboard immediately reminded me of our phone. The screen still doesn't appear to be as big as ours, maybe 3 inches based on using the fingers in the photo for reference?

I think the design is stupid.
Clamshell or slideout tilting keyboard is the best design, if they really want a keyboard on the phone.

and you guys thought the G1 was ugly?

i thinks thats twice as ugly as the G1
Yikes! 4 row keyboard, 240x320 res, chin just empty, looks like it doesn't have a trackball either. Although the red accents on the keyboard for the symbols is cool looking.
Only way it could look worse was if it had the keyboard color scheme from this

I never thought the G1 was ugly...

yea, buts its pretty cool how that touch pro 2 has a seperate number pad, like a desktop, might give some people a homey feeling.
Actually, personally I thought the Lancaster looked very attractive, very sleek and smooth unlike the boxy G1. However, the feature set and specs on that thing, are terribly ugly. Tiny screen, no auto-focus, mediocre screen resolution, and no trackball? Maybe they have a capacitive mouse pad in place of the trackball like on the Helio Ocean 2.

Thats how I felt, although I like the way the G1 looks (gotten used to). Kind of like wow look at this hot chick, I could see myself with her, etc, etc. Then she opens her mouth and it is a pile of sad. That is what the lancaster is to me, nice shell but the inside just kills it for me and makes it unattractive. Now give me a mediocre phone with good insides and you have my G1.
If they price it as an entry level phone (i.e. free or no more than $50 with contract), it could do very well and put android in a lot of people's hands.
AT&T? TRADERS!!!!!!!! lol i think its kinda HAWT Ive always liked the G1. people just ***** because its not as attractive as its competitors but Ive always liked HTC Hardware
I've always found the g1 to be quite smexy xD
I think that phone looks good, but I wouldn't get it due to lackluster specs.
Also, I have loved the G1 since it came out. Maybe I like it because it's quirky and ugly. Still, I think it looks great.
I would rather see a row of number keys on the keyboard. I like the G1's chin, protects the screen if you were to drop it
sarcasm or serious?
i think that phone is sexy, will trade with my G1!
I like it. Bad part it is ATT.

Pure or Tilt2

I cant make up my mind. Is there any issues I should know about? Any help would be appreciated.
I think its just a matter of preference, if you like hardware keyboard and tilt function, otherwise TD2 is awesome.
I was having the same dilemma. I liked the size of the screen on the Tilt 2 but it was just too bulky. I don't really care if I have a physical keyboard or not (I've gotten used to touch keyboards) so I ended up choosing the Pure.
I don't regret my decision at all. It's much more pocketable and they are basically the same performance wise.
I have gone from an 8125 to the Tilt and now the Pure. I am impressed with the Pure. I have learned to use the touch keyboard without any issues. GPS in the Pure is a million times faster than the Tilt.
Had a Tilt 2, exchanged it for a Pure due to the bulk factor. Also, the keyboard on the Tilt2 was awesome but actually a bit too big if you can believe it. Lots of finger travel involved to cover the entire keyboard and, compared to a smaller keyboard, can actually make typing slower IMHO.
The Pure is a fantastic device, probably the best WM phone I've ever owned out of about 15. I do miss a static keyboard occasionally but the slim form and light weight are worth the trade off.
I have a diamond2 instead of the Pure, but I definitely felt that it's onscreen keyboard and smaller size are a plus. BTW OP, if you are interested, I am selling my Diamond2, although if you are in the States, it wouldn't work on ATT's 3G data network. only edge

Td2 qwerty

is it really that cramped because i do not want to use T9 because i suck at it badly it takes me 1 min to type ice skating -_-

I don't think its that bad.
With stylus it's good as hell, with fingers it's not very accurate
I just say:
FingerKeyboard 2.1

Epic as thick as the touch pro 2 ?

My touch pro 2 was a big phone but I love it is the epic as big or smaller in size
google touch pro 2 dimension and epic 4g dimension.
Im being lazy but my guesstimate is its the same or slightly smaller. Its almost the same width as the EVO and I'm pretty sure thats a slim phone.
Youtube is your friend, alot of reviews and they all cover the width
Evo: .5" thick
Epic: .56" thick
Touch Pro 2: .71" thick
Oh wow, much slimmer than tp2 I wonder if my leather case will be too big for it
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Have both in hand
I know there are dimensions out there to exact-ify this; but, I'll give you my in hand opinion.
The Epic is somewhat flatter but also slightly wider and taller. The Epic is also lighter by what "feels" like 20-30 percent. All in all, bulk factor is greater with the touch pro 2. They are in the same class of big phones but the Epic is a slight improvement.
Seeing people with the latest larger phones to their head though, and the touch pro 2 doesn't seem as obtrusive.
If you're thinking of switching out, I think size is a non-issue.
case size
The Epic does *squeeze* into the TP2 case from T-Mobile. It seems too tight to be a viable option. It also doesn't fit in the G1 case that I occasionally use for the TP2.
