[Q] Does it really matter which WM Rom is used - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Does is really matter which WM rom is used when using Android on hd2?
If I understand correctly WM is "shutdown" when Android is booted, I think only the radio version is important. Or am I missing something?

I know some of the earlier roms suffered from a robotic voice syndrome.
If that can cause a problem thens its possible that other minor issues may a rise but hard to pin point.

The rom you got is important since android still relys on wm for audio... You need a rom that is android friendly or just has the right audio drivers to avoid sound issues in android... As for radio version a .50 is recommend the new 2.14 seems to work just fine with performance increase but battery life is the trade off.

can you elaborate a little more on this i think maybe this could solve my issue with my install and recommend the best WM rom is android friendly thanks sorry to jack

The majority of wm roms work perfectly fine with android. Several are stripped down to boot quickly and have android boot managers built it. They are designed to cut the time necessary to get to android and so you can power on and boot to android without any user input.

ok so with this effect how phone calls and such take place my problem is i cant call out and when i receive some calls i might get to answer or error out if it works then robot sound any ideas or help on it

Robo Voice is caused by the WM rom, it isn't radio related. If you're getting it, try either one of the roms in the android section (if you want a stripped down winmo), or, if you are a winmo user as well as android, I'd recommend Miri's roms, or elegancia roms (only two I've tested, i'm sure there are more).
Radio is more for reception and sound quality. (Some report difference in sound quality, for example, between radio 2.10 and 2.12.50, personally i've not seen a difference in either. I have noticed a dramatic improvement using radio 2.14, at least for signal quality (I don't see any difference in sound quality, though, but that could be just me.)

I've been using the setup in my signature for months now with no issues apart from the ones stated in builds.
Hope this input helps

I am using the following configuration for running android on my HD2 :
Rom: stock
Radio : 2.8
Every build i have ever used worked perfectly. No robot voice, or any other issues.

elegancia rom and omega WM rom gives you robo voice if you are using hyperdroid 1.6 nexus one froyo rom but it works with the chunky rom.
i have been mixing and matching the roms alot lately but because the chefs seems to be updating their roms so fast i have not been keeping up.

I have designed a "kitchen" build available for download It is completly android friendly and I have not had any problems other people have had.
You are more than welcome to download the kitchen and build your own rom to your on specs. It comes with both 6.5 and 6.5.5 You simply choose which you want to build, press start and then flas the rom!
Here is the link: to the thread where I store the kitchen build!

Can't loose Robovoice...tried several combos

Hi all, first off I know how much this is discussed and I know the normal answers (flash dif winmo rom, change radio), I'm just discussing my experience with the issue and seeing if anyone can help or is having a similar problem still.
I am having the Robo voice on both incoming and outgoing calls. Currently using latest Chucky's WM Rom (for Android) with Radio 2.10.50.26 running Darkstone HD2 Froyo v1.
Combos I have tried include swapping radios (2.11.50.26, 2.11.50.20, 2.12.50.02, 2.08.50.02) and flashing different roms (also ran Miri/Steve007 Elegancia [hated losing that, but wanted to run Android so I switched to Chucky's, super lite and fast!]). I've also run dan1j3l's Froyo Sense and MattcFroyo RC1.
I'll admit that I haven't tried every possible combo, but come on, Robo voice with atleast 6-10 attempts? Anyone else having this much trouble??
I have kept up on the forum and searched around, I know the regular responses and sorry if this seems like a double post.
Thanks in advance everyone, and by the way, big time props to all the guys developing this across the board. The amount of progress you have made, especially recently, really is amazing. Elegancia rom and the hope for Android is what made me keep my HD2!!

I don't have the robo-voice problem with incoming or outgoing calls, just tested it again. I did hear some echo on receiving end with a call made from my HD2.
I'm running Energy DinkGlass July 24 and Energy Titanium July 14 with SPB Shell. I'm using darkstone Froyo v1.7 with the system.ext2 file for gps. I've run Android from both using File Explorer. I am using radio 2.12.50.02.

Thanks I'm gonna give that a shot, is everything running smooth? Chucky's rom is making android run super fast and very smooth.
i'm running miri winmo rom with darkstone froyo, no robotic voices. using 2.12.50 radio
No problems here using the NRG lite rom and using 2.12.50 radio, had the issue before this combination!
Been ok since 26th July w/o the metal mickey issue

Getting androiod to work on different roms!

I have done a lot of testing receintly and have found a few things that may help people who are having issues getting android to work, eg not booting or robot voice. This is what I have come up with so far.
Getting android working properly seems to depend on two things. Both windows rom and radio.
I have found the following in testing.
Having the wrong radio will stop haret from booting. I installed the standard htc hd2 o2 stock rom which is ver 1.72. I then tried to boot using the default radio which was 2.7.51.22
When I booted android it got to the stage just before linux loads and hung at that point.
I then simply installed the radio 2.12 and it booted perfectly also there was no robot voice and worked very well.
I also tried a couple of tmous roms and it did not seem to be compatable. It would boot up and run ok but I got robot voice. I built a standard rom using standard hd2 stock rom 1.66 and cured the robot issue.
I then built a tmous rom to get the 576mb hack with the same settings as the 1.66 using the same radio and got the robot voice again.
If anybody knows how to fix this that would be great. I know there are 576mb enabled roms out there that are android compatable I would be interested to know how they work. Eg thinking of energy roms!
Hope this helps when you are trying to get android working. I am currently using 1.4 which is awsme and the work that has been carried out so far in such a short amount of time is staggering. Keep up the good work folkes!!!
I don't personally see how the Windows Rom would effect anything with the Android side of things. I used a stock T-Mobile US rom until a few days ago and nothing has changed since I flashed a different WinMo rom. The only logical thing that COULD effect Android performance is the radio.

I was wondering about this as well. I have got Robot Voice from day one on every single build. I updated my Radio from 2.10 to 2.12 and still RbV. (I do get better battery life now though - go figure)
Anyway. I'm really confused as to what the ROM would have to do with it. As far as I know, the ROM is just some software windows uses to get everything non-radio working on your phone. Sense Haret completely shuts down Windows when it launches Android, how can the ROM have anything to do with it?
Someone please explain this!
I have seen pretty much every combination on both sides say it works, and then others that say it doesn't.
Something is amiss, and I wish I knew what it was.
YEah. I would like some more info on this as well.
I am just reporting what I heave lernt over the last couple of weeks, some not all tmous roms do seem to cause robot voice. As I said I built both a tomus rom and and 1.66 release rom with exactly the same settings and radio yet I got robot voice when using tmous and didn't when I used the 1.66 rom!
It is a very odd issue
Both were built using the same windows os 2189

Best Android Combination

What do you guys think the best Rom and android combination is. i have tried a few and want to know what is working best for you.
thanks.
I'll bite, even though "Best rom/build" threads are usually shunned.
I use Energy rom for windows and shubcraft for Android. I use a full energy rom because I still use windows from time to time. Shubcraft is preferred for me because of performance and it feels native to my HD2. It tells me in the 'about' section that I am using an HTC HD2 as opposed to a Desire or Nexus One. Something about that just makes it feel right for me.
My combo works well but I do put the time in to fully explore and find solutions to minor problems. I believe that rom/build compatibility is not a huge issue at this stage. In my experience any rom works well with any android build. To get it working properly it takes more than just the "right" combo.
It would be more beneficial to have a thread with "Non compatible rom/builds" rather than best combination.
i change both of mine all the time but right now it is mattcnexus1.1 for andorid and artemis for windows. with this setup i never get sod and only get screen freeze if auto rotate is on
I've been having good luck with a combo of VBN Black on the windows side & the latest Shubcraft on the Android side. So far the only real issue I'm having is occasional data errors, laggy GPS, and some programs not wanting to install/work. And, with occasional data usage & 2-3 hrs of streaming bluetooth audio at work, I still have about 50% battery left by 5. No heat issues either
my windroid combination
Windroid combination are as follows:
Artemis V30.0 WWE (winmo) + SubCRAFT V1.4d (non Sense)
Artemis V30.0 WWE (winmo) + MattcFroyoSense V1.6b (Sense)
fast smooth daily use stability and fully functioning core elements
out of all the roms shubcraft is my fav still never has frozen or played up for a week today, with telstra rom radio 2.12.50.26
I'm copying polo (I'm literally going thread to thread telling him so ) - Energy Full WM along with ShubCraft. I am daily trying out other builds, but the non-cluttered, non-Sense interface and professional look of ShubCraft has won me so far.
I still do boot to WM occasionally (and actually enjoyed doing so again tonight), and just need to figure out a decent Exchange client, and an e-bookreader to match AlReader (I've tried 5 or 6 but none do it for me), and I guess I'll always keep WM in the background so I have access to TomTom. Apart from that, long live Android!

2.12.50.26 radio?
where do u get that? i can only see 2.12.50.02.2 in vbn files ( http://www.vbnfiles.com/HD2 Common/Radios/ ) and the radio thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787 )

I don't see any differences in the roms I tried... Miri, Chucky, Energy.
I just pick the rom that looks the coolest, which is Chuckyrom to me.
I jest and say that the best Android combination is the one with the fewest Windows as possible.

[Q] Couple issues with Android

I believe it's a Darkstone variety 2.2 (or 2.1 it's based on a Nexus One)
1. Does Haptic feedback work in this build yet?
2. Robo Call Voice
3. And my principal concern is that it seems my phone only outputs in Mono while the phone seems to be outputting songs and stuff in two channel stereo
Any one got any recommendations on how to fix these issues? Because if these things are addressed I'm pretty much happy with Android.
Fixes
Well first off if you have the robotic voice issue you probably also have the issue where songs play very high pitch (too fast)
To fix that, you need to install an Android compatible Windows Mobile build (like Energy Leo, Clarity, Multimedia Super, etc.) most of them will be listed on the Android Development section (in HTC Leo/HD2).
Afterwards it will be fixed
For the Sleep of Death issues (if you do experience that) you need to flash the TMO US 2.12 radio. It gets rid of it
Haptic feedback (vibration) works in keyboards, menu selection, and basically everywhere it should be working
Any other questions?
I'm running stock T-Mobile settings (I just installed the Android build)
Which Win Mobile build do you recommend?
and could you point me in the direction of like a tutorial on how to flash ROMs and Radios?
Thank you for all the help, I'm loving how helpful people here are to one another.

it doesn't work on mattc 1.7
Everything works for me on shubCRAFT 1.5. Try out a non-sense look.
Hactic Feedback
I can't seem to turn the haptic feedback OFF in FroyoStone_Sense_V3.1.
I would really like to stay with a sense build.

Help with Telstra HD2 & Android

hey guys. ok ive searched and searched and gone through thread after thread to try and find a working android build for an AUSTRALIAN TELSTRA HD2.
im still using the phone on the telstra network and have yet to find a rom/radio/android combination that works.
so far most ones ive tried have the problems where i cant answer half of my calls since the screen was so moody or other ones the battery would drain in just a few hours.
i keep hearing that mdj's latest desire hd build is fantastic so if anyone has a good combination of a rom + radio + android build that would work for my hd2 then i will love you forever!!!
Hi,
I have a t9193 as well but first thing I did was flash a custom rom.
I am using Dutty's v9 on the windows mobile side and Mdeejay's 4.3 desire hd on the android side. It works fine but it needs a little time to get going. Also, you will need to set your apn info manually in Android so take note of it in windows. I am using the latest radio 2.15.50.14 without problems. T9193 is able to support most roms out there contrary to the t-mobile version.
Miri's v25 on htcpedia.com also works great.
Good luck.

alright ive put on that combination exactly and it still has a problem where sometimes it DOESNT come back from the black screen when locked. is there any fix for this as its been my main android problem since the beginning T-T
You need to change the radio rom to something that ends in .50. Telstra radio roms seem to end in .51. I use 2.15.50.14 and it seems to work ok.
I'm using MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.3_MDJ_S7.5HD with my wm being Cheetah Rom 3.14 base. I've been running this for a few days now and its pretty stable.
Good luck with your Android, gingerbread (Android 2.3), will probably be available soon too, waiting for that...

Hi,
I had this issue initially on 1st and 2nd boot or so. Don't forget that Android is run from sd card. You have to give 1-2 seconds to get going and load up the info from the sd.
When this happens, hit the end call button until the keypads light up and wait a few seconds. Make sure your keypad is lit up as it sometimes closes again. You can hit the call button and middle button as well.
Also, make sure that you uncheck auto intensity for display in windows mobile and I set the display time out to 10 minutes in Android.
Here is a trick and use and it seems to work. I let android sit for about 15-30 minutes on first boot to allow it to be stabilized and allow all the syncs to take place (the hd rom actually will download and re-install all marketplace apps - have a look in marketplace under downloads to see this). I then restart it a few times after that and even let it sit a bit to finalize everything. Don't ask me why but this helps a lot. Android seems to get faster each time. You also may want to postpone sync with exchange/outlook and also htc sense until your 4-5 boot.
Lastly, when you first start an application (each time you boot up) there is a slight lag so exercise some patience. After that it is very fast.
Hope this helps. If you want a faster build that is non desire hd based you can try mdeejay evo sense revolution build. It is not as fancy as the hd build but is lightning fast.

I also happen 2 own an Australian HD2 off Telstra and use both Telstra and Vodafone sims. Check my sig for the Win Rom/ Android combination. It works well for me, I've tried most of Mdj's Android roms as well but have found Sergio's Core Droid to be the most stable. Any of NRGZ28's Windows Roms will work well with Android, give it a go. I also downgraded my radio from 2.15 to 2.12 and that seems 2 work better for me. Hope that helps
My Telstra HD2 is running Android perfectly.
However, I want to watch Foxtel on it but says it doesn't recognise my HD2 as a Telstra device.
It is a T9193 from Telstra, but there must be a setting somewhere that's not right.
Any help would be awesome.
Cheers,
Dev
