hey guys. ok ive searched and searched and gone through thread after thread to try and find a working android build for an AUSTRALIAN TELSTRA HD2.
im still using the phone on the telstra network and have yet to find a rom/radio/android combination that works.
so far most ones ive tried have the problems where i cant answer half of my calls since the screen was so moody or other ones the battery would drain in just a few hours.
i keep hearing that mdj's latest desire hd build is fantastic so if anyone has a good combination of a rom + radio + android build that would work for my hd2 then i will love you forever!!!
Hi,
I have a t9193 as well but first thing I did was flash a custom rom.
I am using Dutty's v9 on the windows mobile side and Mdeejay's 4.3 desire hd on the android side. It works fine but it needs a little time to get going. Also, you will need to set your apn info manually in Android so take note of it in windows. I am using the latest radio 2.15.50.14 without problems. T9193 is able to support most roms out there contrary to the t-mobile version.
Miri's v25 on htcpedia.com also works great.
Good luck.

alright ive put on that combination exactly and it still has a problem where sometimes it DOESNT come back from the black screen when locked. is there any fix for this as its been my main android problem since the beginning T-T
You need to change the radio rom to something that ends in .50. Telstra radio roms seem to end in .51. I use 2.15.50.14 and it seems to work ok.
I'm using MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.3_MDJ_S7.5HD with my wm being Cheetah Rom 3.14 base. I've been running this for a few days now and its pretty stable.
Good luck with your Android, gingerbread (Android 2.3), will probably be available soon too, waiting for that...
Cheers....

Hi,
I had this issue initially on 1st and 2nd boot or so. Don't forget that Android is run from sd card. You have to give 1-2 seconds to get going and load up the info from the sd.
When this happens, hit the end call button until the keypads light up and wait a few seconds. Make sure your keypad is lit up as it sometimes closes again. You can hit the call button and middle button as well.
Also, make sure that you uncheck auto intensity for display in windows mobile and I set the display time out to 10 minutes in Android.
Here is a trick and use and it seems to work. I let android sit for about 15-30 minutes on first boot to allow it to be stabilized and allow all the syncs to take place (the hd rom actually will download and re-install all marketplace apps - have a look in marketplace under downloads to see this). I then restart it a few times after that and even let it sit a bit to finalize everything. Don't ask me why but this helps a lot. Android seems to get faster each time. You also may want to postpone sync with exchange/outlook and also htc sense until your 4-5 boot.
Lastly, when you first start an application (each time you boot up) there is a slight lag so exercise some patience. After that it is very fast.
Hope this helps. If you want a faster build that is non desire hd based you can try mdeejay evo sense revolution build. It is not as fancy as the hd build but is lightning fast.

I also happen 2 own an Australian HD2 off Telstra and use both Telstra and Vodafone sims. Check my sig for the Win Rom/ Android combination. It works well for me, I've tried most of Mdj's Android roms as well but have found Sergio's Core Droid to be the most stable. Any of NRGZ28's Windows Roms will work well with Android, give it a go. I also downgraded my radio from 2.15 to 2.12 and that seems 2 work better for me. Hope that helps
My Telstra HD2 is running Android perfectly.
However, I want to watch Foxtel on it but says it doesn't recognise my HD2 as a Telstra device.
It is a T9193 from Telstra, but there must be a setting somewhere that's not right.
Any help would be awesome.
Cheers,
Dev

I have done a lot of testing receintly and have found a few things that may help people who are having issues getting android to work, eg not booting or robot voice. This is what I have come up with so far.
Getting android working properly seems to depend on two things. Both windows rom and radio.
I have found the following in testing.
Having the wrong radio will stop haret from booting. I installed the standard htc hd2 o2 stock rom which is ver 1.72. I then tried to boot using the default radio which was 2.7.51.22
When I booted android it got to the stage just before linux loads and hung at that point.
I then simply installed the radio 2.12 and it booted perfectly also there was no robot voice and worked very well.
I also tried a couple of tmous roms and it did not seem to be compatable. It would boot up and run ok but I got robot voice. I built a standard rom using standard hd2 stock rom 1.66 and cured the robot issue.
I then built a tmous rom to get the 576mb hack with the same settings as the 1.66 using the same radio and got the robot voice again.
If anybody knows how to fix this that would be great. I know there are 576mb enabled roms out there that are android compatable I would be interested to know how they work. Eg thinking of energy roms!
Hope this helps when you are trying to get android working. I am currently using 1.4 which is awsme and the work that has been carried out so far in such a short amount of time is staggering. Keep up the good work folkes!!!
I don't personally see how the Windows Rom would effect anything with the Android side of things. I used a stock T-Mobile US rom until a few days ago and nothing has changed since I flashed a different WinMo rom. The only logical thing that COULD effect Android performance is the radio.

I was wondering about this as well. I have got Robot Voice from day one on every single build. I updated my Radio from 2.10 to 2.12 and still RbV. (I do get better battery life now though - go figure)
Anyway. I'm really confused as to what the ROM would have to do with it. As far as I know, the ROM is just some software windows uses to get everything non-radio working on your phone. Sense Haret completely shuts down Windows when it launches Android, how can the ROM have anything to do with it?
Someone please explain this!
I have seen pretty much every combination on both sides say it works, and then others that say it doesn't.
Something is amiss, and I wish I knew what it was.
YEah. I would like some more info on this as well.
I am just reporting what I heave lernt over the last couple of weeks, some not all tmous roms do seem to cause robot voice. As I said I built both a tomus rom and and 1.66 release rom with exactly the same settings and radio yet I got robot voice when using tmous and didn't when I used the 1.66 rom!
It is a very odd issue
Both were built using the same windows os 2189

Any build that I have used from Darkstone has been smooth and fast. You can download the latest "clean" froyo build or the "sense" themed froyo build here:
http://gamesquare.co.uk/froyostone.htm
Imho, the clean froyo build is a bit faster.
i used the max energy co0kie energy ROM for win mo, used hardspl 3, the latest radio, and used the latest froyostone sense build, and the jmz dual boot .cab, everything is working pretty good... when i turn the phone on, i can boot co0kie energy win mo, or android 2.2. now im pretty happy with my device

awesome. your voice calling and speakerphone are working? i almost have the same setup as you except i'm using chucky's rom. voicecalling works perfectly. no echoes no robotic voices. i may try energy rom some time this week although i like chucky's + gtx white theme.

cool, let me know if the voice calling works.
btw, here's a thread over on the android hd2 development section consisting of a growing a list of the fastest and most stable build+ rom combinations including a running list of what does/doesn't work on some builds
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749110
this should help the OP of this thread as well.
calls sound great, speaker phone works, camera works, camcorder works, bluetooth turns on (havnt tested any pairing yet) flash works, everything seems to work execpt the folowing:
flashlight only works on brightest setting
and when i put the phone to sleep, the keypad led lights stay on, but i read from froyo on a different build that this happens to some people, it could also be a problem with the .cab i installed on win mo, i have it set that whenever win mo is being used/ doing something, the leds stay on, instead of shutting off after 10 seconds, so it could be win mo still is doing some task, like running sense (i have the sense version of android) and thats why the stay on... ill try to figure out the problem soon. (and this doesnt happen when running win mo...)

i'm experiencing the same exact thing but the froyostone dev has stated that this is a known issue and it will be fixed upon the next build
would the next build the fix is in be the agust one, or the next one as of todays date? because yesterday the agust build came out, and i beleive that is the one i have installed, is there a way for me to check which release date i have?
Shubcraft cm6 v1.2 is very fast and stable and 98% off the things work on it...and i think the theme is pretty neat...

I would suspect that whatever the CAB is you have installed probably changes a register (not registry) in the micro controller that controls the keypad and its lighting. As long as this microcontroller doesnt get a reset signal or power loss it is going to keep that register set even when booted into android.
As far as i know when using HARET WinMO is no longer running, but please correct me if im wrong, ive tried to find some detailed info on how HARET works, but haven't found much to date. I always wondered if android was truly running all on its own, or if HARET was something like a vmware translating android calls to winmo api calls with winmo still running the show under it all
Before you boot into Android make sure the bottom keys aren't lit. That's keep your keys from turning on at all in Android.

Yes, haret completely shuts down winmo and boots linux. There is nothing else running when you're using android.
Dual Boot
Can someone help me? I am trying to dual boot but it is not working. I read somewhere that you need to change HKLM/init launch 52 to Launch 62 but there is no Launch 52 on my phone.
OK I would have to go to millon different pages to collect the info on who has what combo of wimo and droid working and what versions and fixes they are using.
SO PLEASE ANYBODY WITH GOOD COMBO BUILD (WIMO / DROID SETUP) ON HTC HD2 TMOUS, OR TMOUS COMPATIBLE
PLEASE LIST THE ROMS/RADIOS/HSPL/DROID BUILDS/ PHONE SPECS/ETC THAT MAKES UP YOUR SETUP
I KNOW THE ANDROID IS NOT FULLY RUNNING SMOOTH BUT I THINK WE NEED GOOD ENOUGH STABILITIES POSTED UP.
DONT HAVE A WORKING COMBO SO THIS WOULD HELP ALL NOOBS ALL AT ONCE
LIST THE GLITCHES YOU DO HAVE WITH YOUR COMBO SETUP TOO
FOR INSTANCE ALL IM REALLY WANTING IS A COMBO SETUP WHERE I CAN AT LEAST
MAKE/RECEIVE CALLS AND SMS SEND/RECEIVE, APP MARKET AND GPS AND WIFI WORKING IS A BONUS.
PERSONALLY I CAN WAIT FOR BETTER RELEASES THAT FIX EVERYTHING ELSE BUT I NEED THOSE THINGS AT MINIMUM

Nothing is really working fully, tons of people having issues and glitches only senior members seem to have things working well so thats the reason for the post what are you taking about!GG
if you would read any of the build pages they list ALL of the functions that are working..
im a total noob and my android build is working perfectly. there are going to be glitches but wifi works just fine, sms in and out work perfectly, calling works perfectly now. everything you asked for is ALREADY working
This is currently trial and error for most people, bit if you read through some of the Rom threads you will see what is working within each ROM. Most ROM posts also list a recommended WinMo ROM / radio combination to work best with their setup.
Personally I'm using an Energy ROM + mattc froyo rc 1.4 with sense + radio 2.12.50. Everything working in Android except WiFi tether and camcorder (the latter is fixed in rc 1.5)
Search and read the first couple of posts of each of the created ROMs we have. That should give you everything you need about each one.
Sent from my Android HD2 via XDA app
I have been running android perfectly for days now. (Bluetooth, gps, everything works for me.) Running radio 2.12.50 elegancia rom and mattc froyo build 1.5. It took a little bit of tweaking but once I read through all the posts and got the couple little fixes (a lot of searching, but worth it), I got it working 100% on every boot. Fast, no SOD, no issues. I can't wait until they do make this into a full rom, but even if they didn't, this is very stable.
Hey this would be to halp all noob
Its not spoon feeding S%$^& WTF r you taking about. i have been on here since friday morning didnt even sleep last night(seriously, broke night looking for just a few answers) i broke night reading and reading, trying to get somewhere before the work-weekdays hit
and even so WHY the F not whats the point of giving people the run around,
and on top of that even with everybody giving there by build setups still doesnt mean its gonna work for me. but at least its not a waist of time. for noobs like me
to be trying useless setups
whats the point of making noobs run around, then you guys complain about noods bouble posting and threading
I am a production designer, YOU'RE basically feeding the damn DOUBLE threading problem, since its so hard for noobs to find sh(t they go ahead and post a new thread,
then you idiots get madd because people are double posting
"ohh the question has already been answered" yea on like page 1367 of this one particular threads, the Q & A didnt really help me it was to specific nothing to do with enter working rom combos
the main freaking reason for dual booting is to get wimo and droid to work together successfully, WHY spread it across thousands of pages, State what works THEN break it down
felt like a read the bible, you got threads over 2000+ pages WTF juut because i want to slim THOUSANDS of pages to read to just 10 or so, thats called spoon feeding.
I love this site, because i went from absolute no knowledge in CELL phone modding
to having a very good understanding of it.
I HATE idiots like you with your damn egos,... yea help the damn noob once in a while you where once one to, PLEASE spoon feed us for fuqing once. Maybe this will stop alot of DOUBLE THREADING/POSTING

It worked very fast without errors or hangs for a half day ( I tryed sms, phone, internet, some widgeds )
Awesome! no problems.
After that experience my battery was low ;-) ( I didn't used the fix ).
I hope you are able to understand my text, I had have no english practise.

Haven't rebooted since the built was released and pressed into my HD2.

Android Build: FroyoStone ( the last one from 07/08/10) with sense
No major issues with this configuration. Everthing works fast. The only real problem is the power consumption. It runs about 10-12 hours with average usage. Heavy usage drains it down in 3-4 ... There are some small problems as well - touchscreen inresponsive for a few seconds here and there, flash is working slower than the previous builds. The overall speed of the build is remarkably fast. Just brilliant work to cottula and darkstone !
The camcorder works flawlessly in 800x480 mode - i just love it

I'm not really having any issues. GPS, market, wifi works fine. Don't use bluetooth...all of the apps I usually use for Android work fine. I've been using almost exclusively Android now for a couple of weeks ( I do have 3 batteries though)
Thanks EVERYONE for telling what you have now i can use those as guide lines and see which i candy i like best for wimo and hope that it has sense, cuz without sense...makes no sense.lolol. corny but true

Other than the system2.ext replacement for the GPS, there is nothing else. Calls are loud and clear, no robot talk, data pulls from 3G and HSPSA and switches seemlessly between my WiFi spots I hit throughout the day.
Also, if it matters... in WinMo is have all switches on under Comm Manager. Data, Phone, 3G, WiFi. And Data Roaming is on in Android.
Loving it.. I have been running it as my primary since July 27th, until the other day when I gave FROYOStones a shot. I restored my previous yesterday and it is back to the sweet spot.

What do you guys think the best Rom and android combination is. i have tried a few and want to know what is working best for you.
thanks.
I'll bite, even though "Best rom/build" threads are usually shunned.
I use Energy rom for windows and shubcraft for Android. I use a full energy rom because I still use windows from time to time. Shubcraft is preferred for me because of performance and it feels native to my HD2. It tells me in the 'about' section that I am using an HTC HD2 as opposed to a Desire or Nexus One. Something about that just makes it feel right for me.
My combo works well but I do put the time in to fully explore and find solutions to minor problems. I believe that rom/build compatibility is not a huge issue at this stage. In my experience any rom works well with any android build. To get it working properly it takes more than just the "right" combo.
It would be more beneficial to have a thread with "Non compatible rom/builds" rather than best combination.
i change both of mine all the time but right now it is mattcnexus1.1 for andorid and artemis for windows. with this setup i never get sod and only get screen freeze if auto rotate is on
I've been having good luck with a combo of VBN Black on the windows side & the latest Shubcraft on the Android side. So far the only real issue I'm having is occasional data errors, laggy GPS, and some programs not wanting to install/work. And, with occasional data usage & 2-3 hrs of streaming bluetooth audio at work, I still have about 50% battery left by 5. No heat issues either
my windroid combination
Windroid combination are as follows:
Artemis V30.0 WWE (winmo) + SubCRAFT V1.4d (non Sense)
Artemis V30.0 WWE (winmo) + MattcFroyoSense V1.6b (Sense)
fast smooth daily use stability and fully functioning core elements
out of all the roms shubcraft is my fav still never has frozen or played up for a week today, with telstra rom radio 2.12.50.26
I'm copying polo (I'm literally going thread to thread telling him so ) - Energy Full WM along with ShubCraft. I am daily trying out other builds, but the non-cluttered, non-Sense interface and professional look of ShubCraft has won me so far.
I still do boot to WM occasionally (and actually enjoyed doing so again tonight), and just need to figure out a decent Exchange client, and an e-bookreader to match AlReader (I've tried 5 or 6 but none do it for me), and I guess I'll always keep WM in the background so I have access to TomTom. Apart from that, long live Android!

Hello. Am on pdateam wp7 7740 rom. I have realized that anytime I access the internet or do anything concerning internet connection the bottom part of my hd2 becomes very warm everytime. It sometimes makes it unable for charging. I want to know whether anyone is also experiencing this problem. And also how I can solve it. Thanks very much....
i to have had this problem. i did NOT have it with ANY rom prior to mango releases. i asked over a week ago if this problem had been addressed and/or fixed in recent releases and have not had any reply. after reading this i suppose the answer is no. as i said, i didn't have this problem with any pre-mango roms.
after i installed yuki & xbmod's 7720 zune updatable anytime i would stream say netflix or youtube for more than 10 minutes i would get the dreaded orange/green flashing led (read up real fast and found out it is an OVERHEAT notification)
one thing that i found is a slightly damp or very cold cloth on the back in the VERY hot area for just a few minutes will cool your leo down enough to start to charge again (leave the cold cloth on as long as you plan on charging after you get the overheat notification). i just love my baby to much to run the risk of burning it up so i went to android.
i REALLY miss WP7 but unless this is corrected or someone can tell me for sure i'll stick with android.
(if anyone knows if this has been resolved or knows a better workaround i'd really appreciate it as i detest the whole lengthy process of going between android to WP7)
cheers

It sometimes makes it unable for charging. I want to know whether anyone is also experiencing this problem. And also how I can solve it. Thanks very much....

whoops, didnt mean to thank you, ah well, have one on me
anyhow, the only time i get that heat issue is if i go crazy with wifi, day to day its fine, but if i start transfering 100s of MB of data it gets toasty!
Some one shld please help solve this problem.
have you tried messing about with different radios?
the reason some networks use different versions is because the settings suite some areas better than others.
Start with hardware radios as thats easy to change, then move to software radio starting with oldest, mango roms did have a newer software radiuo built in so that might be answer for you
I haven't had this issue since the first wave of roms released pre mango in January. Ever since mango this problem has been cleared up. I'm on BTTF rom 7740. Back on pre mango roms it would get so hot I could barely hold it. But now on Yuki & Xboxmods rom it NEVER heats up. Just my experience.

ok thanks.and by the way, what's a software and hardware radio?..and can u please give me a list of compatible mango radios...
well, hardware radio is what you used to flash when dealing with WM6.5, you can find all the radios in the HD2 wiki or 6.5 development forum, that is easy to flash as all you have to do is stick it in tricolour bootloader, and flash via your pc using the customRUU, typically these are named
2.12.50.02
2.14.50.04
2.15.50.14
there are a lot more than that, different areas will like different radios, trial and error is usually the only way to go, for example, you may lose the heat issue but lose signal as well, or perhaps your battery life will improve or drop like a rock
The software radio is something windows phone brought to us, as far as i can tell the only way to change that is via flashing WP7 again, you essentially swap out the part00.bin from the install folder and replace it with a different radio version
a quick search on the windows phone 7 HD2 stickys should find what your are looking for
but these radios are typically called
5.52.09.16
5.51T.09.29a
5.65.09.11a
again, there are a lot more than those ive lists, i think there are about 11 in total.
