just recently with the new froyo roms my 32b magic is having problems, everything works great except i cant long press to say drag a widget to the bin, it just selects the quick touch action. its not always like this but when it is its really anoying, it happens with multiple roms, so i think it may be an app causing the problem, anyone else have this problem
UPDATE:
figured it out, for some reason this problem is happening when i am plugged into the charger its all very strange
it looks like you have similar problem as I have
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795157

I cant do anything with it, its just going nuts, volume goes up and down, dialer opens, start menu opens and closes....I cant do anything. I havent loaded any spls any cabs but the office2010 but thats it. help please?
I havent had any issues with the phone since day one (no lag or anything)
Can you get the tast manager open and see whats running?! you have restarted?! What are you doing when it begins to flip out. i bought a bootleg wall charger for my HD2 and it would do strange thing but only when I would plug it to charge but once I took it off the charger it was fine?! You might want to do a Factory Reset and re-install things one by one to see what it is that is causing your phone to wig out...
Yes, if there's no obvious connection between any action of yours (or a background app or anything) and this behavior, I would start with a Hard-reset like toreone suggested....if that doesn't clear it up, I'd get it replaced asap. It sounds to me like there's a short in the mobo somewhere that's causing phantom button presses to be registered.
ok
Yeah, I cant open the task manager cuz it closes instantly since the back button keeps activating. I have hard reseted but now my send, home, volume down, and menu button dont work I think Im gonna ask for a new one since this one is buggin out. thanks for your advice guys
Sounds like that is your best bet as the hardware buttons are seeming to be stuck.
Good luck

The same thing happens to me when I try to use the phone when it is plugged into any power source. It seems like I cannot scroll left for about 20 seconds after the screen has come on but I can scroll to the right.
wierd. Never happened to me.. Hope its not a issue, thats one thing I hated about the n1 was the crazy screen...
I had the same issue when I use LauncherPro. Not sure if you are, but what I did was turn Landscape mode off, and I've been good now.
I have this problem when I am connected to pc, but not when charging on a wall charger...
I'm sure there will be a fix for it soon
(i work for t-mobile and have seen many of the phones do this)
kool. thanks, just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me. It only happens when i have the computer plugged in. when its just on the power nothing happens.
darn, not sounding, cool but.. O well. Bugs are expected at launch... Peace
Hello all. Sorry to post about this, but I see it's a somewhat common issue with some other 'Droids and figured I'd toss this in here to see if anyone else has had any issues.
Basically, whenever a USB cable is plugged into my computer and the phone, the screen stops responding properly. I've heard this could be a kernel issue?
Any suggestions?
not sure, its it fully unresponsive? I have minor issues with it not working for time to time but it will come around. This is both on and off USB. I just wiped everything and reinstalled super clean 1.0 and that fixed it, I also installed only apps I need and none are on SD as I think SD is not so responsive in this leak. My gallery app takes forever to load and I have a class 6 SD card.
I'm using RubikS' ROm of Froyo and just pluged my phone into my computer and the gui and all touch elements are working without issue. What version of Froyo are you using?

I notice this when I'm charging the phone, I just avoid having to use it while it's plugged in.
I have my phone pluged in at work to my laptop all the time and have never seen an issue with the touch screen.
Not all USB power connections are the same
I have the USB provided with my fascinate. In addition, I have a cheap power only mini-USB connector. When I use the latter, on any ROM, I find the touch screen to be non responsive. When I use the stock power it works. Just a FYI, so please check your power cord first.
I'm using the stock cable that came with my phone (of which I picked up this last Saturday).
Right now, I'm running the Blackhole ROM, it happens quite often, but there are a few instances where the touchscreen does work fine. It seems to happen mostly whenever the screen goes to sleep and requires an unlock.
I don't think it could be the Blackhole rom, as it would have been more widely reported... could it be? I have absolutely no issues otherwise with it (Except pressing the redial button crashes the dialer and hitting "Setup Wizard" in the options causes an exception/FC)
this has always happened to me, i think its just an electric interference from the charger to the screen. a better cable might fix the problem but i'm not positive on that, just conjecture
Don't use 3rd party chargers/ cables, this is a known issue to messing up the touchscreen. Also hold your phone while you use it, you need to do this because it seems to ground the phone and make it responsive. I have tested this on a few phones and they do not like it when you touch the screen while you are not holding it.
I just got this problem recently and out of nowhere.
When i plug it into computer or charger with the cable, the screen is unresponsive but when i unplug it, it acts normally. But now it sometimes happens even when i'm not charging it. Sometimes when i pres the power button to unlock, it's not responsive AT ALL. I have to turn off the screen again and turn it on again so that it can be unlocked.
Any of you people know why this is happening?
I have read some thread in HD2 section that this is caused by the broken Gsensor. Is it the same with mine?
Also, I had almost similar issue with my HTC Desire once where sometimes the touchscreen recognized two touches while I only touched it with only one finger. It was then cleared when i change the ROM to MIUI and only MIUI (this also occured and solved with MIUI too with my friend's Droid1).
I want to know whether it's software or hardware issue and how to solve the problem. I already flash another ROM but it's still the same. Can it be solved by flashing sbf? Thanks
I've had that problem to but no clue why. I just ignored it.

Since updating my Samsung Omnia 7 to NoDo I have noticed a very annoying bug so I was wondering if anyone else is experinecing the same thing.
When my phone is charging either using the mains adapter or USB cable, the touch screen is very very random. On USB I cannot slide the lock screen up. No matter how much I drag my finger I can only get the screen to bounce.
On mains power the scrolling is very jerky and not smooth, and if I try to send a text, random keys appear to be pressed even if my finger is far away from them.
As soon as I unplug the phone is fine. The phone was fine before the NoDo update so has anyone else noticed this ?
I don't have NoDo (7004) but my screen is jerky / less responsive when charging through mains.
It is in the user manual that this is normal and will behave as such whilst charging.
Thanks for the reassurance with regards to that one. Glad it's supposed to be like that and nothing new been added in with the update.
Since updating to NoDO via the hungarian method believe it or not i cant copy and paste!
Now am i doing something wrong?
It works throughout the phone inc in msg and in the browser, but i can't highlight anything!
I've also restarted my phone!
I'm flashed my phone with a ROM of Samfirmware.com
I'm thinking of going back to my original ROM that the phone came with its on HG3G but i dont know if i do a full phone reset will make it go back to original shipped.
Anyone know how to?
As far as I know that is how the c+p is supposed to work. It works on currently highlightable text such as messages etc..
I don't think you can copy/paste everything

Andy .. samsungs firmware is supposed to fix this behaviour. Not sure why it has reappeared with NoDo .. did you use Chevron for the update?
actually this bug is known by samsung and it's mentioned somewhere in the instructions booklet
