Upgrade Build Versions - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

How do I upgrade my build version to a newer version.
For example from Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 1.0 to Mdeejay eVo Sense v. 1.2 and keep the same settings, aps, ect
I know you copy over the data.img but what else should you copy over?
Also which program on my computer should i use? Windows Explorer or Droid Explorer

Normally you would just copy your existing data.img to the new Android folder, before the first boot - whilst in WinMo. However it has been said many times before in this forum that this is not guaranteed to always work - but at least you can try. You could have tried several times already instead of opening new thread

Usually all flashoholics used Titanium Backup , you can easily download it from Market.
I'm pretty often moving from one build to another and it works like magic.
No need to make an efforts to sync and restore lot of many things.

Within one chef's builds, copy data.img. A totally new build use titanium.

Can coexist two or more ROM in the same storage Card?

Currently I have the desire V5 in my Storage Card and at the moment, is the only ROM I have to run Android.
As long as I have used Android, and I have downloaded app from the Market it has started to create new folders in my Storage Card.
So, now I have a lot of folders, some appl creates its own, like .aptoide or .dataviz. Also I have other folders in the root such as shared_prefs or sqlite_smts_journals or sys.
When I have seen that some ROMS could be installed in an specif folder instead of the root - like the Desire V5- of my Storage Card, I wondered if is there any possibility of installing another ROM, and have the opportunity of launch one or the other depending of my preferences.
Have any of you tried to install two or more roms in the Storage Card? Can they live together w/o problems?
Ηi there friend, i have in my storage card 2 roms.. One is the froyo 2.2 from darkstone and the other is the desire v5..
I dont see any problems till now, but when i want to change from one built to another i always soft reset 2 times and then i do it ... Dont think it really matters though
The thing is if u have a froyo rom u just copy the whole folder thats called ;android; in the scard, so i have the froyo rom in the android folder and the desire rom just free in the card...
yes, you can
as malias said, you can have eclair and froyo together, this is because Froyo uses the dir Android.
Having this in mind, i renamed Android to Android1, and it seems to work.
so, in theory, you can make as many folders as you want, with different distros, and launch Haret inside these folders to have the distro downloaded there booted.
I am not sure if the different loadings leave settings "readed" by the others, we have to try ( i will do and let you know)
Thank you for your answers. WOW not only WM and Android 2.1 but WM, Android 2,1 and Android 2.2 all in the same phone... I will try and in case any problem I will go back to the forum to post the issues found...

[Q] How do I update Android 1.5 to FroYo 2.2?

Hi, I'm new here and I have successfully installed Android 1.5 to my HTC Vogue with HaRET but I would like to have either FroYo or Eclair. How would I go about doing this?
I do not want to flash my rom quite yet. I want to have it dual booting WM6.1 and Android until I'm brave enough to flash it.

First, you need to delete all the android system that already installed, or you could make a backup of your andboot folder - just in case, maybe you want to go back to 1.5 without starting all over again.
Download any Eclair or Froyo build by the dev here in the forum, and place it together with your base file - some build may include these file in their package, then run Haret again.
The process is the same as 1.5 except with the newer files. You will not be able to "update" to a 2.x OS, you have to start from a clean slate, so be aware of that. Make note of all your programs so you know what to install again.
So would I just replace the ZImage file to a newer build or is there other files I require aside from the basefiles?
Eg. If I want Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [Deodexed] [RLS12] [7/26/10] version of FroYo do I just download the ZImage file or also the NBH file. From my knowledge, I think the NBH is for installing on NAND and ZImage for SD cards.
I didn't understand my own wording so here is what I mean. Do I need the ZImage or NBH or both?
you'll need a newer ZImage and his androidinstall.tar (or .tgz). You are correct in that the NBH is only for NAND while the ZImage is for SD Card installs.
Thanks a ton! Just downloading the files and I'm ready to test it out
I've tried SDCard load and NAND load for Droid
NAND is much faster and much more stable
Some people have reported issues when running off SDCard that disappear when flashed to NAND
Once you start using Froyo 2.2 and get it sync'ed with google - you won't want to go back to WinMo
Running Froyo RLS 12 @ 320x480 / 160DPI / 500mhz OC

did you ever get this to work, because I cannot.
I did get it to work and it runs pretty good off the SD card and I am just about to flash it to the NAND after reading the comment above yours from Does_It_Matter.
I used DZO's basefiles for installation.

Links please
link please for nand file n ZImage n process to installl both
Go look in the Vogue Android dev forum, everything is in there.
ok...actually I did go to htc cdma android forum. tried many different android files. can anyone please help me understand how to choose the right file in which the cdma 1x data voice and data would work.
so far all the packages I've tried, I've had 2 problems:
1. after the first normal outgoing/incoming call, the 2nd call will not make the phone ring though the caller can hear the ringback tone.
2. all packages I tried had gsm apn settings instead of a place where you configure the cdma 1x data account.
can someone explain what Im doing wrong? thanks so much.

how do I update a build?

Hi, hopefully this isn't a stupid question...so I'm new to the HD2 Android scene, but not to Android...had a G1, Nexus and a Vibrant. So I just put Darkstone 2.1 Froyo on my HD2, and it runs pretty good (just ordered a class 10 card, hopefully that will make it even better!)...my question is, when there is a Darkstone V2.2 or 3.0, or whatever, do I have to start from scratch, or is there a way to update without wiping my existing android installation?
mm0
I've been able to copy the userdata.img between two builds but I know it doesnt work for all builds.
There is also titanium back up. Also ... when ever I start over google automatically loads the apps that ive gotten from the market.

[Q] Multiple Android Installations At Once.

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the Android scene, but have been happily using FroyoStone for quite some time now. That being said, I have been looking around the Android Forum and have seen a lot of very pretty and exciting builds.
Being a man who cannot make up his mind, and too lazy to try them all one at a time, I was wondering if it was at all possible to install more than one Android build at any given time on my SD card. It's 16GB in size, so that wouldn't be an issue, I am just wondering what steps I would have to take to insure that none of the builds would conflict with each other. Would it be as simple as to put them all into their own seperate folders? ( I was under the impression that you HAD to run it from a folder named Android, would it require a Reg hack to change this? )
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on this matter, I would like to hear from them.
I will update my post with any successes I achieve if anyone else is interested in hording builds
Edit
Wow I joined in October 2007 and this is my first post!
I currently have 3 builds on my phone. There are a couple of android loaders in that tell you how to load multiple builds. Check the development forum.
Will do, thanks for the speedy and to the point reply.
help setting up mulitiple builds
I've been having a problem with loading multiple builds. I've tried the multi build loader and was unsuccessful. I named each folder specifically (sdcard/android; sdcard/android evo; etc.) just to differentiate. I even changed the startup txt to reflect the folder accordingly. But the loader would always load the one that's in the "android" folder. Even when I go into the specific folder of a separate build and run clrcad and haret, it will still load the other build.
Using Shubcraft stock 1.5, Mdeejay evo sense 1.6, and darkstone. Any help appreciated. Thank you for your patience and time with me.
Each builds startup.txt should reflect its folder name.
This is example line from startup.txt
set cmdline "rel_path=Android_evo nand_boot=0"
(Change the red word to reflect yours)
You can use Exceller Multiple Build Loader for Android
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737001
You can tap to change which build to load.
With this setup you can have unlimited number of android builds in your sd card at the same time and they won't conflict with each other. (Well, of course sd card capacity is the limit )

[Q] Android on UK o2 HD2

Hi, I'm thinking of trying out Android, preferably Froyo, on my UK o2 HD2 which I've had for almost a year now.
My current ROM (1.72.206.3) is the most recent, stock o2 upgrade from the HTC Europe site which came with radio version 2.07.51.22_2.
Have any other o2 users tried, hopefully with some success, to run Android from their SD card using just the above ROM and radio versions? If so, what build of Android would you recommend?
Alternatively, if only a flashed non-stock ROM and HSPL installation will make this work, what would be my best way forward to safeguard my warranty and ensure I dont brick my beloved HD2?
Soz to sound like a noob but I've searched this forum but can't find any o2 specific threads like this one - plus I've been looking around XDA, HTCPedia, YouTube (where I can only find people with US T-Mobile handsets, not the European/UK model) et al for a few days now and feel like I'm just going in circles!
Many thanks for any help that might be forthcoming.
I'm on O2 UK.
I couldn't get Android to boot on Radio 2.07, so I installed HSPL 2.08 and flashed Radio 2.15. I kept the stock O2 1.72 ROM from the HTC website, and it works fine.
I'd recommend Bangsters build if you don't want a Sense-based build, or either FroyoStone or mdeejay's Froyo HD or Froyo Sense builds if you do want Sense.
Blimey, I didn't expect such a prompt reply but that's brilliant.
I wish I had raised my question a couple of days ago, as I've been trawling the internet for suggestions for a few days now, so many thanks for that.
I've already installed a dual-boot app so will install your recommended software tomorrow.
PS - I hope this is of help to others out there too.
Hi, I have a HTC HD2 but mine is out of warranty anyway so here it goes,
HSPL 2.08,
Windows ROM "Miri and Dinik V19",
radio 2.12,
sense android rom Mdeejay Evo warm V1.1 with the latest r7.6 kernel,
Non-sense android rom latest Biff froyo rom based on CM6 V1.0 with the same r7.6 kernel,
I do bump into some occasional problems with android but nothing major, hope this helps.
it's all over the forum, but keep in mind you need at least a radio 2.08 to run android. oh, and for a non-sense build, i'd like to recommend hyperdroid v1.6
welcome to android! The way the HD2 is meant to be
latest radio is 2.15, update your hspl to the highest.
This might be personal preferrence but i find desire roms run better on my phone than evo roms
Im using NDeeJays 3.6 Desire HD rom, this rom is now fast and stable with the latest features, it is however lacking the camera and ereader...if you can live with out these, its the best option in my opinion.
If you need your camera have a look at shu8is SHUBcraft 1.5 CM6 final. It is due an update soon as dev has been away for a while but that rom is rock solid and i used as my only rom until i upgraded to the desire HD rom.
Okay, so at the expense of sounding like a numpty, it appears I need to do the following:
1. Sync my phone with my PC as usual.
2. Copy a version of my current 1.72 o2 ROM to my SD card (not sure where in particular though - in the root maybe?) having renamed it leoimg.nbh so that I can uninstall HSLP should I brick my phone and need to return it to o2 under warranty.
3. Install HSPL 2.08 or higher. I have HSLP3-PKG on my desktop ready for this purpose, so hope this should suffice.
4. Once the HD2 restarts then install a new radio ROM, version 2.08 or higher (I have 2.15 ready to go)
5. Reboot the phone again and create a folder called Android in the root of my SD card, and copy over my choice of Android software to same.
6. Restart the phone yet again, navigate using file explorer to the Android folder then run CLRCAD.EXE and thereafter run HaRet.exe, then wait a few mins for android to launch on my HD2.
It all sounds (too) straightforward in hindsight. Even though I've managed to install the brilliant CHTEditor and more on my phone and tweak the registry to some extent, somehow the installation of android seemed quite daunting until now. But I'll give it a go asap and, in the meantime, thanks to those of you who have taken the trouble to contribute to this thread and help me out.
Cheers!
Hey
I am like yourself on HD2 O2 UK. My current setup is in my signature. What I have found though is no matter what setup/android rom I use, I always get regular drop in data. I don't know if any other setup has worked for any of the users where they have no interruptions with data.
May I also suggest getting a task killer and setcpu from market for help with decent battery life.
Nik
Up until recently I always used RMNET builds as the data is much more reliable. However, i upgraded to 2.15 radio and this seems to have virtually eliminated PPP disconnects for me.
Thanks, i will give that a try.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Hey dazzyb2k3
May I ask what RMNET rom do you use?
Nik
Hi, just to say that I managed to install HSPL and radio ROM 2.15 and FroYo was running v.nicely thank you... up until I had an error message advising that "LauncherPro beta has expired" and asks that I download an updated version - which is not easy given that all the phone will let me do is go into either Silent or Airplane mode, reboot or power off (!)
I see that other FroYo users have reported this issue as a major pain in the arse, so I'm trying to see how I can overcome this issue at the mo. However, I'd suggest that others bear this in mind when choosin which Android software to download (plus the fact that, at the mo, I still prefer my HD2's WinMo 6.5, HTC Sense and CHTEditor after all!)

Yes! This is all correct! except don't name it leoimg.nbh, until you want to flash it back to stock (rare ;P) otherwise it will flash it everytime you enter bootloader!

Are you using Shubcraft?
If so, there's a fix for that here.....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8698216&postcount=7589
Sorry, should have mentioned earlier that I was using a download called Mattcfroyosense1.7ppp for my Android set-up, and I presume this incorporates an (out-of-date?) loader to kick-start things.
I only installed it late Weds evening and all seemed fine for 36hrs till this confounded error msg started appearing.
Any suggestions? (my first thought is to delete the Andoid folders from my SD card and start from scratch, and maybe download the LauncherPro upgrade asap from Marketplace should it srin back to life..?)
There is a version 1.8 if i'm not mistaken http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545
Although I haven't used any other build than darkstones sense builds so never used launcher pro, can you not uninstall launcher pro and use sense as mattc's is a sense build?
Btw, I have looked up that link you kindly supplied and it looks promising (in fact I have found LauncherPro-0.8.1.1 which I hops should be up to the job) but I'm sorry to say that I'm dumbfounded as to where to install it on my device or storage card - the link supplied suggests I need to "make a new directory named "app" in your /root/system/ directory, then copy the Launcher Pro app that I attached to this message to your /root/system/app/ directory. Then reboot and everything should be OK" but I just cannot locate the appropriate folders to drop this .apk file into...
i only stumbled across this today trying to fix the HTC camera issue.
The way i accessed it was to download "super manager" from the market place and used its file manager. The root is actually a higher level than the sd card which can only be accessed with a root file manager.
There is another way to "push" it but thats a bit beyond my knowledge if i'm honest.
Yay! People from the UK on O2
Its such a pain that the search won't let you use 'UK' and 'O2'
What are people using at the moment then?
I'm using,
radio: 2.15.50.14
wm: Energy Rom 21683
Android: FroyoStone Sense - V3.2
I get music stuttering with the above, regular data drops and BSOD every so often on a restart
I then upgraded the kernel to hastarin r8
The only thing I get now is absolutly no data! everything else is perfect though
I tried this ril wrapper for pppd disconnections, new v0.3 but now I get no data and no signal either
What have you guys got?
I would have posted links to all the above but apparently I''m not allowed
I'm also having no data problems on my o2-uk hd2. it was a lot better with old builds.
