For some reason google friendservice keeps turing on in running applications.can someone help with this please.more than likely I am just not seeing where to turn this off.

Go into the running services and tap it. It aways runs on mine and seems to drain the battery. After I kill it the battery is better?

I did that and it still comes back up.i also turned off gps, went to latitude options privacy and turned it off there and still same thing. Thank you for response

Seems to open after using maps and I'm not sure what else. Kill it and don't load maps and check later. If You restart your phone it starts and runs right away. I Just kill it. But it comes back after using GPS and maps for sure.

I moved to a HTC EVO from a Palm Pre. Love it.
The only problem is when a MMS comes in, I have to hit "DOWNLOAD" to view the pic while on the Pre it would automatically show up.
I have AUTO RETRIEVE checked and Im on the stock android app.
Anyone know how to have it auto retrieve for real?

Hello everyone
I have a little problem with the battery life on my nexus7. Maps is keeping my wifi on which will drain the battery and results in a bad standby battery life.
I attached some screenshots that show up how many hours maps is keeping my wifi on.
Is there any solution to fix this problem or to restrict maps from keeping the wifi on?
Tried smart wifi toggler, but the app didn't turn on the wifi after disabling it.

No, cause sometimes i need it.
Now i just turn of wifi before i turn of the display.
What is your Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep Advanced Setting?
I had the same problem. Just go to settings/location and disable WiFi. If you want you can disable maps app if you don't use it. Settings/applications/maps and force close and disable.

searching and reading can show you everything you need to know.
Only thing ive disabled is google play apps auto update.
My brightness is always at max and disabling auto updates helped me out greatly. You really don't need latest updated apps to run. Just go home and update them manually while charging.
My phone goes through over 12 hours on a single charge. But then I am not a heavy user. Just facebook, web browsing, emails when I am not on ky desks. Maybe 1 hour of phone conversation daily.

Use a power manager app. I'm using GO Power Manager, but there are many.

Get better battery stats app and figure out where you wake locks are. Then work on reducing them.

So, I'm trying to pinpoint exactly what keeps using this process (com.google.process.location) any ideas? I've looked at other threads... No luck. I do use Google now... Would this affect this even if I've placed location history and location reporting off? Another app which I think is the issue is "find my friends" would this happen to be using up my location even though I have put the location reporting off in Google settings? Thanks for any help.

Your not turning off your GPS. Your turning off the wireless network which cause the Google services drain.

My phone seems to be staying awake a lot longer than the screen is on. I have tried wakelock detector and the apps that have kept the phone awake (Facebook being the main culprit) dont add up to anywhere near the extra wake time. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

For me a simple reboot did the trick. My phone was not switching off unless I pressed the power button, I started to get worried about a hardware issue, but now is ok.
