[Q] Terrible power usage while on Android

Hi guys
I have followed (as much as possible) many threads on installing Android on the HD2 and finally succeded but got a few problems in doing so.
I upgraded the Radio first to 2.12.50.02.2 and then to 2.15.50.14 (the first one was better for me) and upgraded the ROM to 3.14.408.2 as released by HTC.
Now Android finally started but it was sluggish and not as responsive as WM. The worst part though was the power consumption that normally under WM used about 5% of battery for a 6 hours period during nightime while on standby with everything off except the phone but under Android used 60% of battery for a 2 hour period still with (I believe) everything off which is unacceptable.
I tried MDJ 4.4 and Core Droid 0.3 and both gave more or less the same results with the last one totally locking up the phone which did not want to come out of standby.
I am sure that I must have done something silly not realizing it but I have seen Android running on the HD2 of a person I met and boy was it going well.
Could it be the SD card with a problem or maybe the speed of the processor tweaked by a customization that I did not see or.......
Any help or suggestion will be welcome.
Thanks
Paolo
First thing I would try is another SD card. I had one (Class 4 PNY) that would give me very high current draw numbers and Android ran very jerky from it (This was when I was running it from SD). Load times were easil 50%+ longer. Both my class 2's ran much smoother and no high current draw issues with identical builds of Android.
had the same issue as OP. jumped onto MDJ's gingerbread nand (now cyanogen mod) and my battery has been lasting on average 15-16 hours with calls, text, internet browsing and music playing. in standby i lose about 1% an hour. at the time of writing my phone has been on for 19 hours & 18 mins
load up an app that tracks usage - spare parts or system panel lite for example, or just go to the settings -> about phone -> battery use. See what's using up all the cpu cycles or power. If something seems particularly high, find out why it's doing it and if you can't figure it out then use a task manager to kill it and see if your performance improves.

[Q] Help, High power drain

I have a friend who got a wildfire.
Usually his batterylife was good, like two days without a charge. Then he started using spotify a while ago. When he uses spotify the drain is higher of course.
But yesterday his phone started to act kinda sluggish and draining power constantly without spotify on. I installed watchtower to see if there's a process who draws much CPU.
The only thing i could find was the com.android.provider.settings averaged abour 20 % constantly.
Anyone who have this problem or maybe have a fix for it?
He's running stock froyo rom.
=)
just tell him switch to customized ROM. CM7 rocks!!
Well. He's worried about something
Going wrong.
But I solved the problem. Usb debugging was on and caused the drain
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
high power drain
thanks i have the same will try usb debugging off and see what happens
the bigger power consumer is 3g/4g radio.
Switch to 2g only mode and you will see
Put the 3g in game only when you really need the speed.
Usb debug mode - how this could drain your battery when is not connected - but i'll try this
And yes cm7mod is superb even without any appkiller or over/under clock app... (build #20 right now)

[Q] Shorter Battery Life in standby when OCing?

I searched each NC forum for this topic but didnt get any results however I know its been discussed in extent. I would just like to confirm if the behavior Im experiencing with my NC is as expected. Ive recently updated to CM9/ICS on SD from CM7 on SD and they run pretty reliably other then sometimes lacking a solid SD connecting when booting. On CM7 I had installed dillingers OC and noticed a slight difference in speeds but a drastic decrease in power consumption. I used to be able to have the NC in standby for a week or more without needing a recharge however since the OCing it wont last a day. Its primarily being used as a PDF reader and I put it in standby before going to sleep usually around 75-80% charge and then the next night it will be dead. Is this normal is fixable through configuration changes? I would assume that OCing should be disabled in standby to prevent consuming battery, is this not how it works? Any recommendations appreciated.
Thanks
I don't think just OC'ing should do this. What are your cpu performance settings? I believe the Interactive or OnDemand governers are recommended ("Performance" will keep your CPU on max constantly). Also, I have my min mhz setting down low (300mhz I believe) but my max on high (1200mhz) and it all seems good. I believe I did get better battery life on CM7 than CM9, but that's not too surprising.
i've had no issue with this since following mr's guide....i can actually put my nook down for days without turning on the screen and not worry about it losing a charge...i think the longest i've gone so far was 3 days...but my screen was only on for about 6 hours total...and before i charged it at that point..my battery was only at 28%

Lineage OS 17.1 issues on Galaxy S6

Hey everyone!
It is lovely to be here with all of the experts in one place. such a time to live!
I have installed LineageOS 17.1 on my Galaxy S6 SM-G920F few days ago. coming from stock lollipop 5.1.1 directly. the experience is so smooth so far. my phone feels faster, smoother and lite. I really love it along with all the features of Android 10.
I have 4 issues so far with the OS:
1- the media volume is way lower than the stock ROM. the other volumes like ringing and notifications, alerts .. etc are pretty loud. I solved that by installing an app called Speaker Boost. and by increasing it to %15 the sound is superb clear and load. it is a stereo sound now I can hear the sound coming from the ear speaker loudly. even while taking shower it is very clear and understandable !!
2- I'm not able to use fast charging anymore. Now it says 3 hours. usually my phone charges fully in 70-80 minutes. and both the phone and the charging cord gets hot noticeably till it reaches %80 when it starts to charge slower. within the next two days. i have noticed the phone to be charging faster occasionally as if the OS is adjusting and trying to learn the charging pattern of the phone by pushing it little by little. which is weird because i don't think such a technique is implemented in the OS. for now it switches between normal and fast charging on its own ( it just says "charging" all the time whether it is fast or normal, unlike stock where it was differentiating between "cable charging" and "fast charging" ). moreover, the cable now is never getting hot while charging only the phone !
3- I'm noticing thermal throttling: usually when my phone gets hot it never slows down it just keep the same performance even though it can really get uncomfortable to the touch in heavy gaming. but with lineage OS if it is getting little bit hot ( not warm ) I notice some stutter ( a constant one as if the CPU-GPU been clocked down) . which I don't like. even though I set the battery profile to max performance. and this is really annoying. my phone performed well for the past 6 years with all that heat without getting damaged. and now Lineage OS decided governing the performance as if the heat will damage my phone.
I tried to undervolt so I can prevent reaching the threshold of the thermals but setcpu did not work on my phone and i couldn't find an alternative.
4- the camera app is a total mess. I have lost 1080p 60 FPS recording. now it is only @30 FPS.
when shooting with flashlight: the phone flashes then after a second it takes the photo!!! so taking photos is useless for me in dark places. they are totally out of synchronization.
even with choosing the max resolution for photos. Im getting low resolution photos even in the sunlight outside. in the stock ROM I used to get from 10 mb to 16 mb for each photo in sunlight but now its rom 4 mb to 6 mb !!!
I even tried installing different camera apps. 3 refused to work with error message. one worked with good synchronization with the flash but it fails to save the picture. another one just could not take picture with flash on but will work if toucher is on or the flash is off.
I hope this reaches the developers for a fix. when i restored my nandroid backup to the stock it worked fine.
thank you for taking the time for helping I really appreciate it.
stay safe!

Suddenly only half of the CPU cores are working. Is Lenovo forcing people to buy a new Tablet via software?

Hi,
So I have the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Plus with the latest official Android version 7.1.1 (All stock, no unlocks of any kind).
Since a few months ago I started noticing that my tablet started lagging a lot, to the point that even Netflix would stutter or struggle to play anything. After a lot of debugging and fiddling I finally found out that only half of the CPU cores are working. The tablet has a 8 core CPU, from which 4 are slower (low power) and the other 4 are faster. After rebooting the tablet, all 8 cores are working fine, but when I turn off the screen for a few minutes and then turn the tablet back on, only 4 cores work (the slow ones), the fast CPU cores are never used and appear as offline or just 0%. When the tablet is lagging I can see that the 4 slow CPU cores are all maxed out at 99-100% while the fast 4 cores are still offline. Restarting the tablet fixes the issue till you turn off the screen again.
Does anybody know what is going on here? I would suspect the battery, but it holds fine for at least 2 to 3 days without charging, when the device is in standby and/or lightly used, so I think the battery is fine. Is this Lenovo's way to force you to buy a new tablet, by disabling half of the CPU cores via software!? Or could there be something else going on?
Anybody has experienced the same issue here?
