Greatest Rom

So with all the Roms that we have available today for the Droid Eris, which one is the best in every way? Even though very few people im sure have got a chance to try each and every Eris ROM. Give us some input.

no such thing as the greatest rom. what I think is the answer, someone else might not agree. now me personally, i like the vanilla/cyanogen roms. currently running celb

I have always been a fan of any ROM done by framework. His work ethic is good and he is responsive to input. He has sensless, Evil Eris, and CyanEris. Right now, however, he is working through some small tweaks that promise to be great when fixed and repackaged into a single ROM again. That said I have recently been on ErisLightningBolt Cyan and it is phenomenal! This is a cyanogen ported ROM that conap is kicking butt on making. With 2.4 it is now extremely stable and EVERYTHING works, except for mms outgoing. It runs smooth, snappy, and cool. It also has the best battery life of the cyanogen ROMs avail right now IMO. As far as non cyan I also loved Aloysius 2.0 Snow. Again another extremely stable rom that everything just works without having to mess with a bunch of crap.

+1 on that! Framework's stuff is always good... he's been a little busy recently, but he's always good with "finishing" his projects!
on top of that... i'm a "no-sense" (literally... lol) kinda guy. i LOVE the Cyanogen ErisLightingBolt release. and, i ALWAYS have a NAND of Tainted Vanilla handy. it WAS my ONLY daily ROM and everything "just worked" with it (super fast and smooth). but man... CELB2.4 is sweet!
however, you'll just have to see what you prefer... and try a few out. that's what i had to do!

I guess im lucky, i havent had the outgoing mms issue with 2.4. I dont often use mms, mostly gmail to send stuff like that, but i have tried it out since i flashed both the rom, and the theme i applied. Of course i also have done the apn fix on the rom, that might have something to do with it but over all i find this extremely stable and well worth downloading

It's impossible that one ROM is "best" in "every way".
The ROM devs focus on different things, and try to optimize those things.
The Froyo ROMs are "the best" at being a 2.2 based ROM - but I doubt anybody uses them day-to-day.
Some people like bug-free, some like eye-candy, some want to optimize their Linpack results, some like Sense, some hate Sense.
What is good about this is that as the devs gain experience making a certain package work well, the other devs get the benefit of their knowledge & experience (hopefully), and all the ROMs get better with time.

Install and use all of them and pick one. THAT one is "the best".

Like everyone else "best" ROM no such thing... if you want stock -run Ivans official rom... Ive tested every rom, and im back to ivans... best out there IMO, r00t!!!

I second that. It's pretty much bugless now. Normal battery life and LinPacks in the 5+ range all the time. Facebook sync works as well. You get real time updates and interaction from the developer on Google Wave. It's very interactive getting to have real input on the ROM. Plus, you don't have to deal with people trolling and flaming. Everyone should check it out.

You been bad mouthing WW for weeks. Its understandable, you do not like it. But you made your shots at the developer, not the ROM itself. That's fine, you have a chip on your shoulder.
But it seems a bit odd you try to be sarcastic with very non sarcastic words with little to no reason to do so.
It's a bit more odd you respond to your own sarcasm without being prompted.
In fact, every post I have seen of yours are negative.

Distributing it or not.
Other ROM's that canot distribute google ****s provide a link to download it.
Reminiscent of pirates bay-esque thinking. "We don't distribute it, we simply provide a way for you to download it"

Just shows his inability to follow the rules, instead of keeping it separate he distributes it with his ROM, he steals themes, he includes 3rd party applications.

Let's stop making this a 'Let's back up Andrizoid' thread.
He already has a laughable reputation with anyone putting credible and worthwhile effort into developing ROMs. It doesn't much matter what everyone thinks.
As well, it's pretty obvious that taking other peoples' work and having it all seamlessly integrate makes for a GREAT ROM. As it turns out, when everyone else has already done the leg work, and you slap it together, great things can happen. Funny how that works.
White Widow might be a great ROM. That's what this is about. Don't use the fact that you can discuss things on Google Wave with the "developer" (if he calls himself that) as a positive trait of this ROM. It has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't use White Widow on Principle. Let whoever wants to use/download it decide that.
I think Ivan's Eris_Official 1.0 is the best stock-looking SenseUI ROM. It is the most stable ROM of ANY ROM (although may be equivalently stable to Plain Jane), and has the most saught after features available to put together with it (apps2sd, overclocking, optimized .pngs in all the .apks, wifi tether, etc). It's my favorite because it LOOKs just like everyone else's hero/eris, but is infinitely more capable.
EvilEris 3 is one of my favorites as well, as again I love SenseUI (every time I go vanilla, I come back to Sense even though its slower), and the skin is perfect. It also includes some of the Sense widgets that Incredible users and Legend users get that weren't included on the Eris (great job with the OpenSense plugin, Framework43 !). Sense crashes sometimes, and the GPS icon stays on the top, but it's because of all of the great features and skinning he's done. Great daily ROM.

i liked fresh a lot and just loaded up culkins and am messing around with his and am liking it so far as well.... this dev community for this phone is crazy. It hasn't been a month yet!

It is subjective and best left to each person to determine which one they like best.
There are many good chefs here and that makes this community unique.
Read up on what chef has to offer and enjoy.

Avalaunchmods EVOlutionV8-Froyo. I love this ROM, I can live without a camera, for now anyway. Besides that, I'd have to say BuglessPete's latest.

Yeah, So far I really like Bugless. But just unlocked so am gonna try out FRESH!!! Can't WAIT to see where all this goes.

Right now I would give the nod to Damage Control but all the ROMs available are pretty excellent right now, and it's only going to get better, especially whenever HTC releases the source.

Personally running Bugless Beast latest. Actually growing to love it more each time I play with my phone.

I'm going back to Bugless.

That's interesting. I wounder if I get the same results, I do love Bugless though. Thanks for the feedback. I did try to edit it, but even in Advanced mode there is nothing that refers to the poll, at least that I see.

Damage control is my Rom of choice right now I love how it works battery life is better than it was before. And once the themes start rolling out it will be a rap. I wanna see a theme like froyo but with sense that would be great

Yeah, I feel ya. I like Bugless Too. But there was too many problems with his current release. The idea is good and I loved it, but too many fc issues, USB/Storage Drive issues etc. So in the meantime I hit up Froyo.
I flashed the Froyo Rom only because I don't use my camera that much. I probably use it once or twice a year at that. But anyway I flashed this Froyo and it's fast and just smooth. One of issues is that when you unplug it from a computer the LED light stays on, but most people that's using the rom just went to the market and bought this app that turns the LED off. So that's no big deal. Idk if 4g works or not either. Plus I'm not in a 4G area so it didn't matter to me. But if camera's is something you don't need everyday, chance check it out.

not sure that i have had a single one on long enough to give a truly valid opinion. So far (after i got my recovery issues fixed) they all seem pretty awesome...

No vote for Baked Snack? v.7 has worked great for me ever since I flashed it. Also, the battery life on it is INSANE.

Does any one know if there is a Sense-Froyo Rom for Nexus One?

I'd rather post a quick question to people who are dealing with this frequently, than trawl the web, sift through junk and install something which has lots of bugs.

btw, i dont think there is a sense rom that has everything working like your stock version. i hope im wrong but i was interested in rooting to use sense, in the development section i couldnt find any that didnt have disclaimers about things that arent working, so i havent gotten to try it out yet. But again, maybe im wrong, and i hope i am.

Without a criteria of what he is looking for other than good and stable it's hard to give a good answer. It's not about e-toughness, it's about searching, putting together an informative post, and reading the forum rules.
'cymru' is 100% correct. All it took was a search and reading comments about what does and does not work, then nandroid backup and try the rom and see if it passes the "good and stable" test.

Sense UI has its bugs on the N1. I think LauncherPro is 100x better than Sense UI. It's just not as smooth (this is coming from experience using it on an Evo 4g)

I'd run a stable sense rom if there was one with Launcher Pro as my launcher... I want sense for the camera, calc, dialer, calander, emails etc. not the launcher. The applications on it are just way better quality!

Well there are some roms that have ported sense camera, and apps.
I do believe my "The Official" rom has them. It didn't come stock with the sense camera, but I had it installed (easy to do from spare parts, plus I have 720p recording).
The best you can do is look for a rom with those things ported over.

I might check that out...I tried KingKlick's latest rom and my phone rebooted all night long with it. Lamesauce.

I agree with cymru, its not that hard to click one section over to development and see what's there instead of someone making a new thread everytime, and xda agrees. Not a big a deal yes, just saying I agree

Luckily i've been a member for a number of years so don't fall into this category...
If it wasn't for XDA recently attracting many young people that weren't taught at home or school in how to do something for themselves once in a while they wouldn't have to come and anonymously display their e-laziness. Just shut up.

Hi guys, if the battle for whos the cleverist is now over, heres some feed back for the advice given.
I've installed, Evils q&d sensefroyo. Been running it for a few days, its cool. A little buggy, a few force closes, high battery use, no bluetooth, but very usable.

I tried kingxclikz and Paul's r23 roms, I must say the first one is very buggy and there are no ways to use it even for 24h(though I think it needs an eclair radio),Paul's rom is way more stable but the lack of Metamorph themes,trackball mods and BT are too important.
He promised to release a new version soon so all we can do is wait and see!

Is anybody even working on bluetooth for Desire roms? I don't think anybody actually is. There are a few people I think might be capable like Paul but he's busy with other things now by the looks of it

[Video] Overcome v2.1.1 ROM "review" (update, added the recovery too)

Last night I decided it was time to try something different. Task's ROMs are popular, but unfortunately for us... there is not a whole lot that makes one ROM really different from another.
I wish there were a lot of tweaks made.... lockscreens added... MIUI battery bar.... additional toggles.... long-pressing toggles to take you to the settings... etc.
But, we do not have those things... so, what are the real differences from one ROM to another? build.prop tweaks... boot animations... themes.... and of course all are deodexed/zipaligned.
All that said... for what it is worth, Overcome does feel better than Task 7-10 did. I used it with the stock kernel for awhile, and then I tried it with pershoots kernel at 1.2 (not 1.4). This made it feel even better.
I have experienced no issues, and while I use ADW EX, the stock launcher that is included felt really snappy. I just love my gestures.
Below is a video (not a great one) of Overcome v2.1.1.... would strongly encourage you guys trying it. This is not a sound board for this ROM is better than this ROM... it is simply so you can see another ROM and hopefully encourage people to try some new ROMs.

Next on my list is BinDroid... the custom theme included on that is very sexy.

I spoke to a guy here that is planning to release a rom for the tab that has all those things and a lot more. Hopefully he does cos it sounded fantastic. I checked his thread for one of his roms, I think it was the galaxy s 2 and it is great

Everyone, this guy turns out a great ROM. I have Sentinel ROM on my Nexus 4 and it's very, VERY nice. I highly recommend it.

Well everything is working as normal. I played about with the rom it is pretty stable. Everything works, and when i fell asleep unlike cm the battery never drained maybe about 3 percent drain overnight which is great. So the battery life on this rom is excellent. You're good to go with your rom. Sorry for the late reply i installed this around midnight. Used the rom and till about 2am and fell asleep. I am still using it. I must say overall it is a great rom. Thank you very much. I've not yet found a fault but maybe i might find one but that would be cm related.
For a beta rom this is really stable. Onlything maybe it isn't a big problem now but in the ota updater lol it doesn't recognize the device as MO.

sentinel rom v 4.5 for gt-i9300

First of all I'd like to thank you for this truly amazing rom, there's so many things I can do with my phone and change almost everything I want to within it. I only found 1 issue which may not be an issue at all, I might still be a bit inexperienced with all this modding stuff, but I haven't found a way to overclock or undervolt my phone using your kernel, but I took a risk of using siyah kernel 1.9.1 which is said not to be compatible with 4.2.2 JB and basically all new roms that are out now, but the funny thing is IT DOES WORK! And I think that siyah 1.9.1 kernel and your custom sentinel rom is the best combo ever for my galaxy s3. The battery works great even when I overclock it, it's really stable and never glitching. I can say I'm a heavy consumer, wifi constantly on, and I'm playing psone games with and emulator alot and it still does a pretty decent job. On my next payday I'm definitely donating, buddy. And in a months time when s3 stock 4.2.2 JB will come out, I'd like to see what you can do with that one aswell.

My official position on over/underclocking and UV/OV is discussed on my website. Have a browse.
Sorry but it's not something I support in my ROMs. People are alwsys welcome to use other Kernels to unlock these features if they want them.

Is there any way to disable the fullscreen keyboard feature?

I understand where you're coming from and I totally agree with you if we users want we can make it ourselves using different kernels especially when your ROM is that great and it accepts different types of kernels. And I've got 5 different types of android machines which could use some improvement so if you're interested and have the time to expand your ROMs through those it would be just awesome. Because your ROM is actually the first custom one I've tried, and after a lot of research I can't seem to trust myself with someone else's
