Main camera not working

I have O2 xda exec, Its main camera stopped working , camera program starts after a long pause and blank screen appears showing only camera function buttons. I can start the secondary camera from that screen and it works fine. there is no other problem. help needed please.

I just started having this exact same problem when I flashed to jwright's ROM (which is really quite nice). Given the amount of time it takes for the camera to load up, I'm betting this is a permissions problem in the registry and it might be solved by the copy, rename, copy back solution that seems to work for the other things. Anybody know what registry folders have to do with the camera?

Hmmm, now that I think about it. I dropped my camera a few weeks ago and I don't know that I ever checked the camera afterwards. I'm wondering if I wrecked the camera. I just finished putting it back together and the camera looks fine physically but that means nothing really.
Time to poll the board for a new camera part.

"Unable to start Camera" "Unable to initialize camera"

After months of trouble free use my camera dies today. When I try to launch the camera I get the following message "Unable to start Camera" "Unable to initialize camera". I saw an earlier post where the fix was to power down and remove the battery for a few minutes. Unfortunately this did not work for me. I waited approximately 15 minutes before installing the battery and powering up again.
Has anyone elese seen this problem before? And where removing the battery has not helped. I have not tried a Hard Reset. I had a similar problem with my Hermes/838 Pro that was fixed with a hard reset. As you can tell I am trying to avoid the hard reset... I am traveling and do not want to take the time to cutomize my phone, at least not yet.
I am running the original shipped ROM 1.23.707.6
Meanining I have not flashed any ROMs to this phone. It is as shipped from Dopod.

hi i have the same problem since months ... something you have explored? do u have some informations to fix this problem?

Extract this package, and copy all files to the windows directory via Resco Explorer(alle files(.DLL) muts be visible, look at the options of this app) and overwrite the existing files, then softreset, Im not sure if this will work for you, so be sure and make a backup first!

It really seems a software problem, probably some rom files or registries got corrupted. A reinstall may help, if not, you may still need the ultimate hard reset

I wound uptaking my 810 back to the Dopod service center. The guy said they had to replace my camera. What that means and if that can actually be done I am not sure. I would guess they replaced an entire board. They did re-flash the ROM on my phone as well. Prioir to taking the phone in for service I had not tried to re-flash the rom. I had only done a hard reset with no success.
One side light of my camera going down is... They put the same ROM back on my phone that was previously installed. After the service I have noticed that my GPS gets a "cold" fix much faster than before (twice as fast +/-)

Interesting, I had this exact same error, but on my previous phone, a Samsung D900.
They tried everything, including completely wiping the phone, but nothing helped so in the end they replaced the camera in the phone.

...turned out to be hardware, too.

mainboard error on mine
htc service replaced the camera module twice before they replaced mainboard and cured my phone. I had this problem the first 6 months with my p3600.
Try taking a softreset with the camera on. this worked for me a couple of times

Haya everyone.
I am really lost for a solution here.
My wizard's camera has stopped working properly.
It used to work fine, but since recently everytime I want to use it, the pictures come out all screwed up.
I've attached two samples below.
I tried just about every camera patch there's available, but none of them seem to have any substantial effect.
I also tried different JPG settings, different sizes(that worked a short while) and even different Camera applications like coolcamera..
None of them seem to solve the problem.
Anyone have an idea what the problem could be?

I've had a very similar problem with my old non-smart phone, I took it in to the service center and it was a hardware problem... I hope I won't disappoint you but if it hasn't happened after a ROM flash, camera software change or something - probably your camera is just broken, anyway you can check that in your local service center too?

ehhh.. it is simple settings prob imo. do full backup and hard reset to be sure.

I don't think it's a hardware issue, since the preview of the camera is good.
I'll try a hard reset, but could anybody tell me how I cab perform a full backup?

I use SPB Backup. It has been working fine for me untill now, and you have the chance to restore e. g. only pim.

Camera Problem // Pink Noise + Color Disturbance

I am facing a problem with both cameras on my HD.
there is a color disturbance, something like 256 colors mode, or pink noise instead of true colors.
I have searched the forums but this was the closest case

Wow thats a good one. What have you done to try and resolve this so far?
I would do a Hard reset, Flash an Official updated 1.56 ROM then i would look at sending it back as it could be a camera failure.
I would suggest using a Custom ROM but to be fair if the Stock doesnt work then there is a fault with the Phone sorry.

This problem was first introduced when i flashed Duttys 6.5 R8 ( i am not saying that its a Rom's Fault)
After that, I have flashed several 1.56 roms: Miris, NRG6.5 and Dutty 6.5 rom, but without any difference.
The problem occurs on both cameras. Main and video call.
These are 2 fotos, taken with:
MAIN Camera
VIDEO CALL camera
I assume that there is something wrong on the camera's video codec (if something like that exists) that is hardware and Rom irrelevant
Any ideas?

as i said in my other Post have you tried going back to a stock ROM. I am a HP Warranty partner and 1 of the things we do is when ever we have a software fault is to make them put back the HP build as we know this works.
I would try this and if it doesn't work Give HTC a call

may be a SPL and ROM version mismatch can cause this tooo?
Check if you have the latest SPL..

i don't know if it's about the rom, but when i tryed i got my screeen uncompleted, like a croped image from the rigt, it was just a pixel or two at the firsts days, when it got a bit bigger, but it stoped growing, screen is working perfectly, but i see this border everywhere, i tryed to flash to stock rom to see if i could solve the problem, could be it an video driver issue? perhaps it's just an horizontal position setting like a pc monitor?

So is there still this problem after you went back to Froyo? If it isnt there:
The 04.09 Nightly which had some issues with the new video driver
Install the latest nightly this should fix your problems

nope, i just updated at the newest version and happens the samething, even for CM7.2, it's really weird

You can test if it is a hardware or software issue by making a screenshot
Watch the screenshot on the PC
If it shows the same as your Defy something with the software is wrong
If it shows an normale screen your Lcd or sth like that is damaged
If the second case is right post a picture of your screen here

Did you try the Screenshot technique?
If you see the same problem everywhere it seems like your display is broken.
After flashing a new Stock Sbf file, everything from CM10 is gone, so its shouldnt be a software issue
