The HD rom makes our phone think its a HD, hence the xda app sig and the market being default to American T-Mobile. We will have access one way or another.
And its 'sense'

The above poster covered it all, but:
It's HTCSense.com
There will always be exploits - So yes, we'll have access.

Makes Sense , a new HD rom will work , however I was hoping that the stock desire rom would work with it ....

Depends entirely if we get the new Sense though. If not, we have no use for HTCSense.com

i don't say it will work from the first time but it has allot of more features that deserves trying , and i think it is better to develope on this rather than on desire roms which our hd2 is superior to . and every one is free to make his choice
+1 looks pretty awesome

Why? Because it's got a more Advanced version of Sense with deeper Android integration. Why wouldn't we want the latest and greatest for our phones?
What we need is all sensors work, no more SOD, freeze, PPP works........etc.., everything else is nice to have but not needed including advanced sense UI...

roms developers are different from kernel developers so getting new ports willnot affect the progress on kernel development
So after we have fully function kernel, what we need is advanced sense UI? otherwise it won't function or what? sense UI is just a nice thing to have. some body like vanilla, some like Cyanogenmod, some like HTC Sense....

Wildfire won't get HTCSense.com features?

I heard Wildfire won't get HTCSense.com features (generally called Sense 2)
Is it true?

Isn't sense 2 already on the phone?
the new sense is only for the new devices coming out soon, the wildfire is an old device and i dont think they would bother to update it for the phone. unless someone ports it to the wildfire.

Nope I think Sense 1 is what you see as the User Interface. HTC calls Sense 2 for their special services.

Internet Pass through with Gingerbread, is it possible?

hi Guys,
I've been using Desire HD or Desire Z series NAND roms just to get the internet pass through working on the phone. this works wonder with the HTC sync.. However recently I've been bravely step into Gingerbread 2.3 NAND by MDJ and would like to ask if there's a way to have internet pass through going for CYANOGEN 7, gingerbread, non-HTC DEsireHD or DezireZ series..
bump! i need respond for this as well
Are you referring to tethering? Using your 3g on your computer? Yes it is possible. Check the description of each rom. It will give specifics on if a rom has the ability to tether and how to use it.

No, it's the reverse of tethering.
I don't think it's possible in non-Z or HD roms.

no, its not posible. internet pass trough is a htc sync feature and since gingerbread is a non sense rom htc sync doesn't detect the phone
So is there a third party app that can do this. I really feel this is missing in Gingerbread, I often use this on Andoid 2.2 builds

Sorry my friend...
It is a feature that is only available (ATM, at least) in Desire Z (maybe DHD too?).
This feature is very useful when you want to download big file to your device (such as download a game). This is useful if you dont have a wifi network.
My Xperia Arc (gingerbread) also lacks this feature
Cheers

[Q] HTC Wildfire S

I have just seen some wildfire s movies and the point is:
it's runneing gingerbread and it has a flip clock.
My question is: If the htc wildfire s has nearly the same things as the normal wildfire.
Can we (if the wildfire s is released) port gingerbread from the s version to ours.
Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread.
Please could someone that know something about it say something to me, please.
And my second question is: Can someone already put the new sense in a rom.
I hope someone really know something about it.

It is not nearly the same. It is totally different. And, to get the new Sense, the code has to be released by HTC. Till that, there wont be a GB Sense Enabled ROM for the Wildfire.
Also, I am pretty sure with the release of the S, HTC will not conveniently forget the original Wildfire and probably not release any updates for it. Its basically an EOL Product now. Its the way the industry works.
After some monthes on the market every mobile phone is EOL. You are right!

If you really want gingerbread on wildfire, you can try Cyanogen 7. There is no htc sense with cyanogen though.
Just for the new sense

I know but I want the new sense xD
Its more like the aria or gratia (what is the point of that - considering the wildfire s is better) or legend or salsa than the wildfire (they are all the same phone in a different box with a different rom)

I'm using cm 7 right now.
It is very nice, but I've send a mail to HTC.
Hope they will answer.
I really like gingerbread, but I just want the new sense ( without buying a newer phone ).
So if I got mail about it.
Will you see it on this topic

Can we (if the wildfire s is released) port gingerbread from the s version to ours. -HVGA vs QVGA.... lots of resizing and xml, program modifying. And devs are not really interested
Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread. - Not really with a spray of impossible
Please could someone that know something about it say something to me, please.

-I have not seen Sense 3.0 on a QVGA device, so low porting chances.

Hello people,
I'm using cm 7 right now.
This is a question to alex, I think that you know more about it.
So is it possible to port htc sense to cm7.
And so yes:How can I do it on my own.
So please answer.
edit ment normal sense.
It is possible to get the Gingerbread update but no way it would get the new Sense.

No it's not possible to port anything HTC to an AOSP ROM, there is a theme though which makes it look like HTC Sense!
why not

Why not.
I mean can not one app ported to a aosp rom?
Simply because HTC apps require a framework that AOSP ROMS do not have as it is power consuming and is slow.

Sadly the HTC framework is not compatible with AOSP ROMS at the ROMS have to support it. Your english is fine, don't worry!

As djdevine2 stated above, porting Sense would be very hard or even impossible. Sense is like a bug that crawls really deep inside the Android OS. Eliminating is it hard, I imagine introducing it would be also very, very hard.
And not to mention the possible Legal issues that could appear
maybe there is hope
It has also been rumored that the HTC Wildfire will receive the recently released 2.3 Gingerbread update.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wildfire
This is just a rumor, but there is still hope.
Doesn't look so. If you look at the citation on that particular line, and, read that thread in another forum, there is nothing there to state that HTC has said anything about 2.3 on Wildfire. It is simply a speculative thread, and, points to CM7 for 2.3 on Wildfire.
"You can have your doubts about when your phone maker will finally get around to delivering an Android 2.3 update (March if you're with HTC, June if Samsung, 2017 if you're unfortunate enough to own a Sony Ericsson), but the smartphone dev community doesn't work that slowly. The guys who build custom ROMs just for the sheer pride of it have already begun work on delivering Gingerbread to owners of HTC's EVO 4G, Droid Eris, and Wildfire."

Branded DHD'S getting update first , huh HTC huh !!! !!!!!!!!!

I find it soooo annoying finding out that branded dhd's are getting the update first (1.84) .. I'm stock with this bloody buggy 1.72 argh.. HTC you f**ked up!!!!!!!.

Non branded, but still get the update.
Mine is unbranded but still get the updated.
But I think, all branded and unbranded as long its from asian region will get the update.
I'm from asia, my DHD from hongkong.
Just my opinion.
Unbranded and got the update. Am from India.
I wonder how long it will take to reach the u.k then ?? Hhmmm

Me too..
Maybe a stupid question, but is there a changelog of 1.84 update? Or is it 1.72 but with SMS notification & SD card fixes?
I wouldn't worry about the delay in receiving the new update from HTC, when the ROM section has some excellent, optimised, images to use.
Setting up your phone (root, downgrading if needed, S-off, Eng-off) to flash ROMs is simple and safe - I managed it without having much Android knowledge simply by using all the guides posted in this forum - I would recommend you go that way.
from what i understand, 1.84 is actually an older build than 1.72 - i know the numbers dont make sense, but i think that is what mike said wo the ACTUAL newest one is 1.72

Really? Wow..That's confusing
Meh, it might have some older libraries, but it is basically a step forward as it fixes many bugs and so on. It also has better performance, so I do not understand why mike actually said that..
