I just got a G2 a few days ago. Its advertised as running Sense. I dont have it. and ive seen around many other done either.
It says online if you have TMO you can get it from https://www.htcsense.com/
Can someone sign up? get it? and temp root and post the package?
Thanks!
That's strange...where did you see that it advertised sense running on the G2?

That's the Desire Z, it's a phone hardware identical to the g2 but instead of stock android, it has Sense 2 (i think there calling it). it's released in Europe, not here.
In other words
Desire Z = Europe version and has sense
G2 = US version with vanilla
but once we figure out a perm root im sure a ROM will be created easily

I came from the g1 then mytouchslide I loved sense it has more options for widgets,calling(t9) ,and browser settings. The g2 is amazing and fast but it looks like the g1 as far as looks go.
Ive read something about a new android, called Gingerbread 3.0.

I can't do it without source code so it'll probably be a month or so after Google's official announcement
The phone itself should have no problem running it in theory, however, the whole experience might (probably will) suck due to the lesser hardware in the Wildfire.
That is unless Google tweaked & performance tuned it and all its new features so that it does not require anything more powerful that the 2.2 does.

Jacob you're awesome!
Iv'e heard that things like scrolling and stuff will be smoother, will it be on the Wildfire?
He said he'll try port it to the wildfire
I haven't rooted my wildfire yet, but maybe Gingerbread will change that

Funniest comment on XDA. BTW ur awesome Jacob. I hope Google doesn't specify u need hardware out the wazoo and stuff. I think Google wouldn't be so evil and let Gingerbread run smoothly on low-end hardware.

Most official Wildfires still haven't got 2.2 yet so most like custom mods will be our only source for 2.3. I haven't seen much that is interesting in 2.3. As far as I can see it is going to bring updates that make android more tablet friendly.

I have just seen some wildfire s movies and the point is:
it's runneing gingerbread and it has a flip clock.
My question is: If the htc wildfire s has nearly the same things as the normal wildfire.
Can we (if the wildfire s is released) port gingerbread from the s version to ours.
Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread.
Please could someone that know something about it say something to me, please.
And my second question is: Can someone already put the new sense in a rom.
I hope someone really know something about it.

It is not nearly the same. It is totally different. And, to get the new Sense, the code has to be released by HTC. Till that, there wont be a GB Sense Enabled ROM for the Wildfire.
Also, I am pretty sure with the release of the S, HTC will not conveniently forget the original Wildfire and probably not release any updates for it. Its basically an EOL Product now. Its the way the industry works.
After some monthes on the market every mobile phone is EOL. You are right!

If you really want gingerbread on wildfire, you can try Cyanogen 7. There is no htc sense with cyanogen though.

Or will there be an update with the new sense and gingerbread. - Not really with a spray of impossible

This is a question to alex, I think that you know more about it.
So is it possible to port htc sense to cm7.
And so yes:How can I do it on my own.
So please answer.
edit ment normal sense.
It is possible to get the Gingerbread update but no way it would get the new Sense.

Why not.
I mean can not one app ported to a aosp rom?
Simply because HTC apps require a framework that AOSP ROMS do not have as it is power consuming and is slow.

Sadly the HTC framework is not compatible with AOSP ROMS at the ROMS have to support it. Your english is fine, don't worry!

As djdevine2 stated above, porting Sense would be very hard or even impossible. Sense is like a bug that crawls really deep inside the Android OS. Eliminating is it hard, I imagine introducing it would be also very, very hard.
And not to mention the possible Legal issues that could appear
maybe there is hope
It has also been rumored that the HTC Wildfire will receive the recently released 2.3 Gingerbread update.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_Wildfire
This is just a rumor, but there is still hope.
Doesn't look so. If you look at the citation on that particular line, and, read that thread in another forum, there is nothing there to state that HTC has said anything about 2.3 on Wildfire. It is simply a speculative thread, and, points to CM7 for 2.3 on Wildfire.
"You can have your doubts about when your phone maker will finally get around to delivering an Android 2.3 update (March if you're with HTC, June if Samsung, 2017 if you're unfortunate enough to own a Sony Ericsson), but the smartphone dev community doesn't work that slowly. The guys who build custom ROMs just for the sheer pride of it have already begun work on delivering Gingerbread to owners of HTC's EVO 4G, Droid Eris, and Wildfire."

Depends on what ur looking for... if u want to be able to use WM7 and android this is the only device that can run both atm.
The HD is a very good device and runs both OS's very smooth.
If i were u i would stick to your Desire HD as the specs are better and the device will be more supported in the future as the HD2 is getting older now and wont receive any (official) updates anymore.
WM7 cannot even do multitasking untill end of this year... and by then google will release android ice cream sandwich anyway.
I personally would stick to android, WM7 is just not worth it (yet).
ok. thanks very much for your reply.
i was locking more at running ubuntu. the devs on the dhd have done a brilliant job. but its not functional enough for proper use.
have you run ubuntu on your hd2? if so how does it perform for useability? ie. smS, calls and 3g data
thanks

Besides if HTC doesnt release official updates the community wont have updated kernels to work with.

While I was surfing the internet aimlessly as usual , I thought to check gsmarena.com for the latest mobile news...etc
I found something interesting, In the CDMA Wildfire (AKA, Bee) I pressed the compare button and chose the normal GSM wildfire (buzz). In the android version the buzz was upgradable to android 2.2 froyo BUT THE BEE WAS UPGRADABLE TO 2.3 GINGERBREAD !!
Aren't they supposed to be the same phone but with different radios ?
A message to HTC: WTF ?!!!!!
Another thing, anyone knows what's the HTC sense version of the gingerbread bee ? Any RUUs available ? maybe it will be easier to port it from an almost similar device
If u wanna check by yourself, click here

these bees surprise me more and more. even though i am in the uk i am actually considering getting one of these just to f**k with it and see what it can really do. maybe even be able to port a recovery and cm7 to this device. cant be that hard surely. and ive seen the prices used on ebay for about £30 or so but they wont post outside the us :/ i am aware that the call/text functions wont work outside the us but the wifi would still work so maybe i could get this mysterious gingerbread update as well. thoughts?
oh, and ive only been able to find one ruu and i tore it to pieces only to find that its stock 2.2.1
I remember when i was looking for a way to get gingerbread on my wildfire (LOL it seems like it was the stone age then ) I read that someone had his wildfire on gingerbread out of the box.
Till yesterday i was saying "either he's a complete noob or an epic troll" .
Now I knew what he means, he had the Bee an he didn't know the difference between the Bee and the Buzz.
