Hi - Having a strange problem on my wifes Wildfire ....
She keeps getting a low space message (ok so thats not strange yet) but the culprit seems to be Mail .... On the application list its showing as 125mb of storage (with no memory used for the application).
She has deleted all her SMS. I have deleted her hotmail account. She has 3 emails in her Gmail account ... but its still saying 125 mb !!!!
Help ???
On my Desire I use email a lot but my data is showing as under 3mb for Mail !!!
Would prefer not to have to hard reset if possible ....

Hi all,
I 've got the Qtek9100, and with both the default rom it shipped with and the custom Tmobile 2.17 ROM I've had this problem. I use Gmail on my phone via pop3, and my problem is that the phone is constantly deleting my old email messages. Its not sending them to the deleted items folder, but removing them from my inbox as though they never existed. Have any of you encountered this problem or know of a way to fix this? Thanks.
I have a Cingular 8125 and I have the same problem. After I close the email its gone!
Same problem here too.
set to get first 999kB of message.. it is the only work around that i found
Loosing Emails.
I had this type of problem with SMS's and emails - basically anything with Pocket Outlook.
The solution was to Close outlook fully (not with the 'x') before soft-resetting the phone. Pocket outlook does not seen to write the new emails to it's database until the app is closed. (i.e running programs - stop program)..
Since I started closing outlook fully before soft-resetting I have not lost 1 message.

Actually, closing outlook fully does not stop email from being deleted. This happens even when I don't soft reset the phone. I'll try getting the first 999kb of a message, though I worry that this could fill my phone quickly if I don't pay attention. Also, I don't have this problem with SMS messages.
I figured it out.
Under Tools -> options in Pocket Outlook is an option to "Display messages from last x days only." I've unchecked that, so here's hoping that takes care of the problem. Hope it helps everyone else who had this problem.

I had this unchecked already, and I still have the same problems.
Any other ideas?
Here si the fix on the HTC and disappearing emails
1 start/message/click email account/menu/tools/options/tap email account/edit account setup/next/next/next/next/next/download message 3 pls days/advance setting/keep them on server/next/ finish
Do this for all accounts
Now go to your computer and outlook tools/email accounts/view or change email account/next/change/ more settings/advanced/leave copy on server/ how many days is up to you
You must do this for all you accounts on that computer. then do the same to all the computer you use to get the same e-mails.
Hi guys
Had a shock yesterday.
After installing most my apps to storage memory and sync'ing, the phone started complaining it didn't have much storage memory left and wanted me to delete stuff. I checked ... and it was all used.
Upon resetting the machine ... it hung at the lock screen. All I could do was hard reset and start installs again.
I have done that and put all but my 3 webis apps (PI, FM, Note2Self), CPL (doesn't give you a choice where binaries go .. but maps go to SD) and MobileShell3.5 (takes about 10mg) to SD.
Following this ... I have 95m of the 181.60m free.
As soon as you sync (particularly Outlook Mail) this reduces to less than 82m (no attachments ... just a week of mails with a max download of 50k per mail - 270 mails so far).
This is a little worrying ... I didn't think storage memory would prove to be an issue.
Anyone else got any thoughts on this ?
Paul.
P.S. I have a 16GB MicroSDHC (SanDisk)
Hi,
I would like to know if it's possible to store all my mail outlook, hotmail etc and my smses on the storage card instead of the main memory as it runs out of space very quickly. I normally receive 40+ emails a day and would like to receive them all on the phone. The only link i found when searching was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341467&highlight=email+card which was not answered
Not sure what you mean by 40 emails taking up too much space.. I have it set so that attachments are sent to the storage card and the emails on the phone. I usually get about 100 to 200 emails a day and they take up less than 2Mb..
But to answer your question, the only part of a message you can store on the Storage card is the attachments ^>^
40+ a day so it adds up pretty quickly when you only have 20-30mb of space free.
A way I used to do it with WM2005 is I would have the email pop'ed to my phone with different folders. I would send emails to those different folders to store them on the server, and then I could delete them off my phone.
I'm not sure if it will work now with WM6.5.5, and I can't test atm without my Herald, but try to give something like that a try with a few test emails..
I have been playing with the S2 and all seems good apart from the email app, when I cnnect to my imap mailbox it downloads the whole lot. Is there a way to limit the number or emails or number of days as I have around 2000+ emails. I could do this on my desire but I am guessing the email app is part of touch wiz as opposed to android.
Thanks
Sohail
I could still do with some advise, I am using maildroid at the moment but would like to use the stock apps if possible as you get the lock screen notifications.
Thanks
Sully
I'm looking for that too. My Desire HD Roms (running on my old HD2) could limit the days that were synced and also the size that was downloaded, both for imap. I could e.g. select sync last 7 days and download only text and 5kb automatically. I can't find any of these options in the SGS2 with my imap accounts.
If you set up your email account as a premium account, it will only download emails from a maximum of a month previous. It will also continue to remove emails (only on the phone, not on the imap server) so that you only see a month. I think you can also restrict it to a day or week also.
Thanks for the info but the app refuses to setup imap on m account I get error
Internal Error
An Error occurred. Please try again (100)
I have check my mailserver logs and can see the phone authenticating

I have tried updating my phone via kies but it tells me my firmware is up to date kernal 2.6.35.7-I9100BOKE3 but I am guessing there should be a KE7 version avaliable.
Thanks

I have a problem with pop email on win. mobile 6.5. It (outlook)seems to be taking up phone memory rather than micro card memory. For the life of me, I can't seem to be able to reconfigure it so that it stores on the storage card and not phone memory.
It's now malfunctioning as phone memory is reaching peak utilisation. Can anyone instruct me as to how I can get this reconfigured so that mails are held in a folder on the storage card???
you need to go to the account option within Pocket Outlook, and there is one option to store the attachements in the SD card.

Hi there. It's not the attachments that are causing the problem - it's the actual mails themselves. I hardly have any mails with attachments - and in any event, have selected that option that you mention. There just doesn't seem to be an option to move the actual mails themselves to SD card storage...?
Hi, No option to move the emails to sd card.
The only you can do is limit it size and sync shorter period of time.
The phone is not made to download the whole inbox, I had mine set to 20 Kb max size and 4 weeks a sync and had no storage problems.

Ok, thanks. Have 2 x email accounts associated with outlook on the phone. I have reduced them down to 1 days worth - but maybe I will change this to max kb restriction instead.
I the meantime, I looked at what other 'crud' I could get rid of - not much to go on until I found temp i-net files - that cleared 30mb - can't believe there was so much in that - as only use the browser for webmail access 99% of the time.
Seems to have done the trick for now...
