First I'd like to let everyone know that for Froyo a gmail update is in the market. For those that have installed it does your reply button stick to the top as you scroll down through a msg? mine doesn't.
There is a reply bottom stuck at the very top. Does it follow you as you scroll down? No.
What I want to know is does this fix the syncing issue in secondary accounts?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
The reason I think it should is this quote from the gmail blog
"As you scroll through a conversation, your most important message actions will now stick to the top of the screen, one click away, no matter how long the email is."
weird huh.

It does not fix the syncing issues.
My 'reply toolbar' does NOT follow down the screen as I scroll. The unofficial version that I used to have did this. I'm not a happy camper.
Mine doesn't follow down the screen either.
I think those of us who had the unofficial version might be the ones now having problems :-\ Mine has force closed thrice already
I uninstalled the unofficial version before I installed the market one, not sure if that makes a difference. Floating bar is definitely not floating though.
you were smarter then me It keeps force closing on me now. I uninstalled the new update then power cycled and reinstalled. we'll see if that works.
Well, don't know about your force closes... but it looks like the floating bar not floating is a known issue with google. So it has nothing to do with us having the unofficial version. Whew.
"Update 9/21/10 12:13pm Pacific time: There is a known issue with important actions not sticking to the top of the screen on HTC phones running Anrdoid 2.2, like the EVO 4G and
the Droid Incredible. We are working to address this."
hopefully the update that fixes the floating issue fixes the rest of me although it hasn't FCed on me since i rejiggered the whole thing. can you post a link to where you found that?
Sure thing

Tell me if anyone else notices this on the Xoom Android market app. Whenever you are searching apps in the market and click on an app, and then you go back it puts you all the way back up to the very top of the app list forcing you to start all the way from the beginning all over again! When you hit back it should bring you back to where you left off instead of starting all over at the top of the list. And it does it every single time too! Its annoying! Especially when you are just looking around at apps to download, you might get very far down on the list and then... BAM! You will have to start over when you click to go back to your search results.
UPDATE 3/16: I have been doing more testing and it seems like the problem explained above is in more than one place on the Honeycomb OS, not just the market app. I tried the YouTube app and searched something, scrolled down the list, clicked something, and then went back to the search list. What happens? I was back at the top of the search list and not back where I left off. This is just like what happens in the market app. I will be doing more testing soon. Feel free to do some testing of your own and report back here.
I second that mate! I was also surprised that the results do not state "installed"... It is annoying to be put back to the top of search results as well! Another item on the list is that the top 1/3rd of the screen (in landscape) is taken up by "suggestions" or featured apps.
yeah but I just use the back arrow
Yeah, they need to show in any list if you already have the app installed. They also need to allow you to see apps that are optimized for phones and/or tablets. Right now, there is no way to know for sure without installing. Very poor design for filtering/searching with the Market right now. Not impressed for a company that specializes in search.

That's a great idea. I too thought they should have this. It's a pain when you download an app and it force closes because it isn't honeycomb compatible or is not optimized to fit the screen on the Xoom. How are we suppose to know that? You are right, there is only one way to find out.
I have the same issue...albeit a small glitch, a very important one for ease of use and time. I don't enjoy going back through all the apps again and again and again. Even using the back button restarts me at the beginning. Hopefully this will be fixed with an early update.
Just wanted to confirm I'm having the same issue and really "glitchy" market issues in general. Even after getting used to the new layout, it's still not all the way there. But overall I'm enjoying the experience.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's plagued with this issue. It really is only a minor problem, but lets hope they address this issue real fast. Fingers crossed!
And if Google doesn't address this issue fairly quickly I'm sure the ROM devs will figure it out regardless. Can't wait until custom ROMs start rolling out for the Xoom! The day Cyanogenmod hits the Xoom will be a great day indeed!
I want to try and keep this thread going so that this issue will be known by all so that a solution can be developed. Input is always welcomed.
Ok so I have the newest marketplace and it has an annoying bug. When I click the install button in the top right before the page of the app has loaded fully (screenshots for example) it will keep saying "loading" and it will not go to the page where I have to confirm my download, till I close the market in the task manager, and then to wait for the whole page to load before clicking install. Anyway to resolve this issue?

try wiping the cache of market through settings if you can
This is a known issue. Its a bug or something in market version 3.1.5. Lots of people on different handsets have it. There is no know fix. Some have reported that clearing the cache helps others not.
The big point to note is that not everyone has this issue. Could be region related or something but its an known issue. Different roms seem to have no effect on the bug. Its been logged somewhere on the google android issues blog thing.
Some people have downgraded the market version and then frozen the market updater (using titanium backup) to stop it from re downloading. The older versions dont seem to have the same issue (they may of course have other issues)
Im personally going to live with it and wait for the next version which i hope fixes it.

I have the same issue. Hope they resolve it soon.
why dont you all just downgrade your market till they fix it? anyway there is a new market update 3.1.6
Guys. If you have problems with market you should uninstall updates and use the older one. no problems at all. I allways hated the new market. but I will have to get used to it sooner or later.
I like the new app-market actually. But one time when I uninstalled the updates, it wouldnt update back anymore.. So if I were to go back to the old market till they release an update, how could I update it to that version again.

Hi
I'm also tired of this but. In order to solve problem then it occurs, I use "Fast reboot". It boots the hole phone in 2 seconds, and after that I can use Market again (until next time it hangs) LOL

I've only come across this problem sometimes when dealing with updates for installed apps, usually if I wait a while and try to update the app again the page loads and I can install the new version.
Hello,
I am writing this to help other newbies who may want to switch to Cyanogen for the first time on their Epic 4G. There were a few things I needed to do after to get everything working the way I liked and I figure this will save some people time.
What do I need to do prior?
There are many how-to's which will help but I had my Epic stock rom rooted so it was as simple as flashing cyanogen through recovery. Here is the link for a "how-to" root the stock rom if you wish to do it this way. It was the easiest way for me though the official guide says "Rooting the stock firmware is neither recommended nor necessary."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9eaCtiS0Bo
Where do I get Cyanogen?:
You can download it here. I am running the 10.0.0 stable build.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Epicmtd_Info
I have no google apps:
This is a problem with any Cyanogen installation. Easy fix, download & install the gaaps package from the link below and your marketplace will be back.
http://goo.im/gapps
I don’t have Navigation:
Easy fix again, download the google maps app. Here is the app store link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DMsImNvbS5nb29nbGUuYW5kcm9pZC5hcHBzLm1hcHMiXQ..
I don’t have voicemail:
While you can use any voicemail app I wanted the one I had on the stock rom. I linked the app below and your voicemail will be back as soon as you install it. You need to open the app after so that it will activate.
https://od.lk/d/MjRfMjc2MDY5MF8/vtt-sprint.apk
I am getting texts from 9016 every time I get a voicemail:
From reading it seems the stock rom blocks us from seeing these but they are in fact needed for voicemail to work. To fix this I used a free app called “RedList”. Simply add 9016 to the RedList within the app, change the settings to disable both notifications, and this will problem will be solved. Here is the app store link.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5saW5ub3IuUmVkTGlzdCJd
Text messages no longer have separate colors for me and my recipient:
The stock android text display is white and I hated this after getting used to Samsung’s nice colors but luckily you can solve this in two ways.
(One) A theme manager is built into the interface section of your settings page. After searching through almost every free CM10 theme I found this one I liked. It does NOT touch too many things only adding a brushed metal look and displaying text messages how I wanted them. There are a few colors to choose from but I went with Blue.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1992980
(Two) Replace only the MMS app with one that is color coded. Please note that unlike the above, to reverse this down the road you will need to find a stock mms app package with an installer. This is good for people who are sure they want this and only wish to change the colors of the messenger, while the above is good for people who like to switch themes often being able to revert back at any second. Link for the colored mms app.

Morror: https://od.lk/f/MjRfMjc2MDY5MV8
Facebook pictures no longer sync with my existing contacts:
This is a small problem, but still one that I got used to having with the stock rom and wanted to correct. From reading this seems to be a problem related to later Android versions, not just Cyanogen. The fix for this is easy as well, search out a free app called “UberSync for Facebook”. I had the regular facebook app installed & logged in prior and UberSync logged right in, got the pictures, and updated my contacts.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsInJvLndlZWRuZXQuY29udGFjdHNzeW5jIl0.
I no longer have Swype:
Despite having the nice physical keyboard (the whole reason I got the Epic) I still got used to using Swype here or there. I don't think I will be allowed to link this file here but you can find it on "certain" sites.
Notes:
Despite reports that Bluetooth can be problematic, I use it daily with an earpiece and have yet to experience any issues. GPS & 4G also work great. If any links are broken send me a PM! I check my email daily.

Why are they so bad? The bring you right to the download and I won't be deleting these files from my dropbox. Much better IMO than dealing with one of those sites where you have to wait 45 seconds for a download link to appear in a sea of other spam download buttons.

Well...
No MD5/SHA1 to compare against to make sure you have a complete download.
People's dropbox tends to get too much traffic and the link becomes dead.
You basically cut out the original author(s) of the file.
Based off # 3: They could need the ad revenue, and/or want to track download activity if they're self-hosting.

#1 - I think more people are concerned with a working link, if they download the archive after and it somehow gets corrupted i'm sure they will just try again
#2 - Valid point though my files don't have a great enough of demand to warrant this. If this changes I will change my links.
#3 The only thing that wasn't mine with a dropbox link was the MMS app and I only mirrored it in case the original link were ever taken down. If it will make you happy I can include the original link as well. For the voice mail app, its simply the sprint one ripped from a stock rom.
Though your points are valid, I think you are sort of just being picky bud
Thanks for the VM download link. Only thing I want is task manager which I had installed on CM9. Is there stockish one that works for 10?

swype
I reinstalled swype 3 or 4 times with various upgrades and it would always "expire" and I'd have to figure out how to get it working again. I am running 10.1 RC5 now and it has a decent generic swype-ish virtual keyboard. The thing missing is that you can't finish your text and go back and fix any misspelled words by touching alternate suggestions. You have to catch them as they come up. It seems like at first I could still do that, but I can't figure out how to get the suggestions to come back up.
I'm over swype.

You need a different Kernel. I have been using didy's kernel for a while. You flash CM10.1 and then you flash the kernel. CM10.1 has its own kernel that overwrites what you flash. So when you update, i think you have to reflash the kernel. I haven't screwed around with it since I installed rc5. I think I did CM, then the kernel, then the big mem patch. I never was able to figure out how to update the radio. I always ended up with "no voice service" or worse.
There is a thread in the developer forum that has the links to the kernel downloads. I am running one from may 30 and haven't updated.

I think I found it... Is didy the same as didhiy?
[KERNEL][CM10.1]Nitest Kernel for Crespo4G/Epic4G Modem with Voodoo Sound&Color
When you say you couldn't update the radio, you just mean the cell service radio, right? Not wifi? I don't have cell service on my Epic, so that wouldn't be a problem for me... just as long as the wifi radio still works
Also, what specifically do you mean by "or worse"?

Yeah. That's the one. I looked at my about phone and it said "didy".
I saw a thread about the nexus radio being hot **** and I fooled around with it. I got either "no voice service" or no nuthin. Thanks man, I'll give it a shot. CM10.1 is running pretty smoothly on my phone, but it could be better and battery life is not an issue for me.
I'll be sure to run backups before I do though :good:
Thanks
These tips helped - I just made the jump to CM 10.1, and although there are a few quirks it has been great. Your list really helped.
FYI, one thing I ran into was the auto-rotate didn't work. I followed the directions here:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/boot-el30-stock-from-sdcard.html
the first time, there was no change. I tried again (and calibrated like 6 times) and it worked.
Has anyone noticed the physical keyboard doesn't always work the same? In some places, you have to hold down shift or Fn while pressing the key you want (for example - hold shift while pressing A, rather then pressing shift then pressing A). It's not consistent - some inputs work like the keyboard did before. Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this. Not the worst thing (I'm just glad I still have a physical keyboard), but I would prefer it work the way it did before, or if that's not possible, at least be consistent.
And the smiley face button on the physical keyboard doesn't work either. I mean, it's like 2005 where I have to type out my 's!!

I have noticed that the physical keyboard doesn't work right in the browser. Shift and Fn don't seem to work. I am usually in such a hurry that I just close it up and use the virtual keyboard if I want to have punctuation. It honestly didn't occur to me that it might be fixed. I can't offer that fix. I am just offering emotional support and validation.:good:

I noticed that the default browser you have to hold the shift or fn key while pressing the desired key to get it to work. Apps and os seem to work with a tap od these keys and then a hit of the desired key.I recall a while back a thread about the smiley and since it was not a default key the consensus was that they would not be adding the functionality to cm. While on the topic...same goes with the .com function.

Maybe scan your phone with an app like CM Security. See if that helps.
If it were me and that didn't work I would wipe my phone and reinstall the OS (Make sure you know what you're doing if you choose this)

Never seen this app before, scan through your apps under installed applications and remove anything you don't want or need. This is not an app that comes with the system that I'm familiar with. Best to get rid.. If it is something normal, I certainly have never seen it.

I couldn't find which app was displaying the daily summary but I do have TouchPal installed. I did a search on this and the timeline matches. I too couldn't find screenshots of others but timelines and descriptions are dead on! I'm going to remove TouchPal and go back to Swype (I hope the bugs are fixed!) and see if it goes away.
Thanks everyone!
Hahaha I feel like an idiot! I just got the daily summary again, I scrolled to the bottom and in small letters it says "Powered by TouchPal" haha
Glad to help.
Did anyone get the latest security update yet from AT&T?
Looks like it was security patches, but my Messaging and Gallery apps changed.
I am OK with the gallery app, and the Messaging app is OK with the exception the text is pretty damn small! I know you can pinch to zoom, but I am unable to find anyway to keep the ZOOM setting I selected in the new Messaging app, as soon as I back out and go back to a person I was chatting with, the text is back to being small.
Just confirming I'm not the only one with this issue.
Chris
Oh, believe me, you are not alone. Mine is doing the same thing. It is also showing replies to texts in white text boxes with white type. I had to switch my purchased themes 4 times to find one that didn't do this! I also lost the ability to schedule messages, and lost all of my quick responses! This is VERY annoying.
Krista
Ditto here, white text on white background for incoming texts. Exceptionally annoying.
A few people have complained on the AT&T support forums (https://forums.att.com/t5/Samsung-Discussion-Support/Text-bubble-issue/m-p/5452599/thread-id/35765), but it seems the forum moderators are going thru and deleting threads and replies. And so far, the only "answer" wasn't an answer at all, just a canned response pointing to a tutorial (that wasn't there last night, btw) on how to change messaging settings.
If anyone has any ideas, please let us know.

I don't understand what you mean, please explain.
It's another SMS app, you can download it on the playstore.
Thanks everyone for confirming it wasn't just me. It's a shame because the stock txting app wasn't pretty bad for the past ~2 years....here's hoping AT&T steps up, otherwise I will go third party too...
Pulse is awesome. I have the paid subscription and can access my txts from any device.
First, new "update" fubared text messaging; now, there's something running in the background that's turning it into a hotplate & sucking the battery down in just a couple hours, instead of decent consumption all day long. Even after a reboot & running the "save battery" app in Settings, it's still warm to the touch, & draining the battery too quickly.
Does AT&T have plans to fix this, or is this a push to force an upgrade? (this I put to them on their forum)
SAMSUNG-SM-G891A
Android. 7.0
Patch level January 1, 2018 (so no shenanigans about "security enhancements" in this one, they ain't there)
There were betas for these updates for several months now. There must have been some big changes under the hood and this one came as a 500MB update rather than a 35MB security patch. Probably stuck with any bugs until the next major update which will most likely be Oreo. All of this is just speculation on my part.
I didn't receive any notification on my S7 Active regarding BETAs - how do you sign up for those? I would have gladly given feedback on this Messaging app....
They don't have a beta program open to the public as far as I know. Over on the firmware update thread, user khaliullov posts a link to firmware and uncovered a way to directly download firmware from ATT's servers. That's where I've seen betas for this update for the past few months. You don't want to have those betas installed as they offer no upgrade path, so you would be stuck with the issues that whatever beta you used came with.
Got it - thanks for the info!
Looks like time to investigate rooting the phone...
Just got prompted for another update - let's see what this one does...

Same here, can't really see any difference in anything so far.
No difference here either, unfortunately. I was really hoping the Messages app would be updated. This new one SUCKS.
Is there anyone would could grab the old messaging app, make it a APK and then let us sideload it? I would be VERY interested in this, as would others.... this new Messaging app is junk!
The new messaging app is really weird, but all the features are there.... you hafta hit the + sign & the features come up. To schedule messages and more.
Could be worse, half your account could be stuck in Spanish. It's been well over a year and they still can't do anything about it. Lol.
