Hello guys,
Need help here. How can I install my first app after a complete wipe without using a computer? I'm thinking of doing a fresh wipe and not planning to install Google Apps. The only way I can think of is adb, but I don't have access to a computer. Is there a possible way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers!
Edit : Owh yea, by the way the first app would be Astro Manager.

How do I do that? Terminal Emulator doesn't accept adb commands. Would appreciate if you can show me how. Maybe post the commands.

Good. Thanks again for your help. It was pretty simple actually. I'm new with this android stuff. Coding and programming is not my cup of tea anyways.

Hello everyone, I'm happy to say that I'm hosting a 'market' specifically for Sprint Hero root users. If anyone is interested in this, you can install it on your phone in a few steps.
First, download the market program and install it on your phone. It's at http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/dl/Aptoide.apk
Once you install it, launch it and press no to add their default repository. Then, press menu>Manage repo>menu>New repository. The url to the repository should be EXACTLY:
http://app2.bikcmp.com:4121/repo/files/
After that, go back and you should be able to see the applications. If you're a developer and have a application you'd like to add, or have a question, feel free to email me: [email protected].
Yes, I know there aren't many applications in it right now.

Depends: A pretty way? No. A basic way? Yes.
http://app2.bikcmp.com/repo/files/ has a directory listing of the apk's, and you can download them from there too.

Thanks for the reference. The leaked build version seems to be working for this purpose.
To get this to work, you need to edit the /system/build.prop. find the line that begins with "ro.build.fingerprint" and change it to:
Code:
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/264707:user/release-keys
Once rebooted, the nag might appear once more, but if you go to Settings->About phone->System updates you wil now get "your system is currently up to date".

Can somebody give me some simple instructions on how to replace the build.prop file with the changes I made? I grabbed the old one and made the changes (Just changing the numbers from 231334 in my case to 264707 correct?) but can't figure out how to replace the file now. I assume I need to use adb to do it, but I'm not experienced enough with using this method to feel confident and I'd rather not mess up my phone. Is it as simple as:
adb remount
adb push c:\build.prop /system/build.prop
adb shell reboot
Thanks for the help in advance...
What should I do if I do want to install the OTA, just for the sake of being up-to-date stock? I'm on stock 2.2, rooted with S-OFF and and ClockworkMod 2.5.0.5, and I'm not sure where to go from here.
To allow an OTA load.... just Follow the instructions...

I used subs (another root file manager) to edit the file. Click menu > mount system r/w. Then long press build.prop select chmod change to 666.
Edit file, save then change chmod back to 644
This might work in root explorer (change permissions) first.

yes, but changing zip into apk gives me a parcing error and unzip it give me all files which i have no clue where to put them (i have a mac and see .exe files so rooting through a computer is not an option)...as i said before, I am better in graphics than in this kind of work....any help will be appreciated, in the other topic I only found "yes it is working" Okay, that makes me officially a noob, but anyway....

It's not meant to be an apk that you install onto the phone.
(1) Download the file onto your PC and unzip it.
(2) Enable USB Debugging mode on your phone.
(3) Connect the phone to your PC.
(4) Click on the "SuperOneClick" file in the unzipped folder.
(5) Click on the "Root" button.
(6) Wait until it says that root is successful.
(7) Unplug your phone from the PC and manually reboot it.
(8) Your phone is unrooted!
thanks, I will get a laptop from my work this evening and try.
So (yes I am a noob) should I downloading this file on the phone or on the computer??

You should be downloading it to a PC and running it from there.
Oh, I forgot to add that you need to reboot your phone manually before it is detected to be rooted.

if my memory serves me correct then the app that requires busybox should state that your phone doesnt have it isntalled and it would like to help you isntall it
The easy way:
Goto the playstore and search for busybox.
If it says installed, you're all good. If not, install it.
The little bit harder way:
Open up a terminal on the phone and type "busybox" at the prompt. If its installed it will give you version/help info.
or
Connect phone to your computer and make sure usb debugging is enabled.
open a command prompt on your computer.
Type "adb shell busybox"
The same version/help info should come up.
Which one is the real busybox? There are a few of em' on the Play Store. Thanks guys! :good:

Again, to check for your installation type busybox in terminal. There is no harm in downloading the play store app though. If you have it already it will just apply any updates.

I recently rooted my phone for pokemon go spoofing purposes. Thank you to physwizz for helping me with that. However I have tried using link2sd and it hasn't worked. It says /system not found in /proc/mounts and using lucky patched it takes it to system/priv-apps but I need it in /apps . And using adb it says the same thing as link2sd. Please help. The app I want to systemize is fake gps joystick from appninja. Please help me. Thanks.
Use root explorer to save it into/system/app
Put it on a folder
Is there a way to differentiate between system apps and user converted apps.
