Hi Guys What HTC Phone Should I Choose That Have Android, I'm Choose HTC Wildfire, Is It Better? As I'm Buying A New Phone
That will depend on what are your personal needs, if you are coming for Universal you´ll fin out that it´s not easy to migrate to a non hardware keyboard (at least that was my experience) I 1st migrated to Rhodium and then to Leo but to be honest I still miss a hardware keyboard...
I´m quite happy with my Leo (besides kb) as i can have the best of both OS´s: WM and Android

I'm about to buy an Elfin this Sunday, and after some googling, I want to clear some things up.
1. What is Manilla2D?
2. Should I install Onyx as soon as I get my phone, or should I wait?
3. What's the difference between TouchFLO2D and TouchFLO3D?
4. Is it possible to 'install' TouchFLO3D to an HTC Touch P3452?

1. What is Manilla2D?
It is a theme which comes with most WM6.1 roms, search this section to get more skins http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=260&order=desc
2. Should I install Onyx as soon as I get my phone, or should I wait?
You should read first a lot, Onyx WM 6.5 doesn't have Manilla, WM 6.1 yes,and especially how to flash in the stickies here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=374
3. What's the difference between TouchFLO2D and TouchFLO3D?
Elfin doesn't support TouchFLO3D
4. Is it possible to 'install' TouchFLO3D to an HTC Touch P3452?
Answer above
Enjoy Your Device
Manilla2D = the Diamond Style.
3D= The Cube, 3D Touch Style.
argh double post
Manilla2D is basically a downsized version of Manilla3D.
and by the way, if you are looking for the HTC touch cube, its not longer available at any other phones, except for the touch and the dual.
More info about Manilla2D avail here
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=opera&rls=en&hs=Nqb&q=htc+touchflo+2d&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g:s4
@jeremy: Wait, from your link to google, I take that you mean mean Manilla2D is the same has TouchFLO2D. But tito12 says it's a 'theme'.
And does the HTC Touch P3452 have TouchFLO2D?
Manilla2D(M2D) is TouchFlo2D!
Nonono!
M2D has different themes for you to choose, and the themes is developed by our xda-developers community.
HTC Touch P3452 dafault handset does not have M2D, you have to upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 in order to enjoy M2D.
Here are a few pointers.
1) You choose to upgrade either to
- HTC Built ROM, which is their upgraded version
- Cooked Roms, which is made by people just like you and me, but they are usually more functional and practical. And Most people recommend cooked ROM as the HTC Built rom which is commonly known as stock roms, is underpowered and have too little applications. (And lags .. blabla )
One such cooked rom is Onyx and the one I am using.
Which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426540
Yeah I read about Onyx. I'll use the stock ROM for a couple of months, and then look towards Onyx.
This is what I've understood.
Elfin with WM 6.0, neither has TouchFLO2d, nor Manilla2D. If upgraded to WM 6.1, it will have Manilla2D, but it still wont have TouchFLO2D. To get TouchFLO 2D, we have to install a separate thing. And Elfin doesn't supportd TouchFlo3D.
Am I right? I'm confused because jeremy89632 says M2D has different themes available, and tito12 says M2D is a theme.
EDIT: Here, Is this the actual interface of an Elfin with WM6.1?
Hi Cyanide
I should have used "interface" instead of "theme", and this interface can be skinned, there are many on developpement and hacks section.
Okay, so Manilla2D is an interface that comes with WM6.1 for the Elfin? And,here, Is this the actual interface of an Elfin with WM6.1?
Yes, manilla2d is touchflo2d.
Okay thanks a lot for the help
This is slightly off topic, but I just want to ask all the Elfin/Elf users here, how do you guys like your phone? Would you recommend it?
EDIT: Also, I read another thread 'http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=531260' in which the guy's phone turned out to be fake. Since I'm buying a used one, what all should I check before purchasing it to ensure it's authentic HTC?
I'd just like to point out that I'm going to buy the phone tomorrow, so I need an answer for this (my last post) asap

Tips to get a legit HTC
Buy by walking in, not online.
Get from legit sellers, like big time corps.
See if the box have HTC logos and windows mobile logos around it.
Check for warrenty.
Thats all.
Im pretty happy with my elfin, except it lags GPS.
Umm, what do you mean 'lags GPS'?
HTC Touch Elfin and Elf does not have GPS.
Or known as the global positioning system which tells you where you are.
If you want to get a GPS for your elf, you must pay around SGD100 or around US$60 or even cheaper if you get from ebay.
I know it doesn't have GPS. You wrote it 'lags' GPS, so I was wondering what you meant. You probably meant it 'lacks' GPS.
Anyways thanks a lot you all, I finally bought it.
I'm avoiding making a new thread, so here goes.
How do I format the memory card? Will simply connecting the phone to the PC in data transfer mode and formatting it from there do? Or is there some special method?
Congratulations
Just insert it and start explorer to see that it is visible
Hello, I just registered to the forum. I was going round the threads, I have read some tutorials, but I didn't really find an answer to my question.
I'm going to buy a touch HD in switzerland. Maybe I will buy the german version. I can speak german but I don't know if it will be really comfortable for me. That's why I was reading the tutorial on how to use the xxxxship.exe (changing your device to a new version).
BUT if I don't have problems with the language, and the language is fine I understand all and I don't need to change to english or italian (my motherlanguage)....are there reasons that I should change something to the phone?
Everybody here on the forum is using custom roms, is adding - deleting applications and so on. Is the 'normal' version so bad?
As a beginner, what do you recommend me to do with a factory-new touch HD? Update WM to 6.5 ? Try immediately a custom rom from XDA ?
Thanks and sorry if i wrote stupid questions, the forum is really big and difficult to understand for a beginner.
No reasons, If you use official ROMs without problems (too slow, some problem with some programs, you want new components but HTC doesn't etc) else you could stay with it.
I preferred use HardSPL and Cooked ROMs (see my signature) because TIM ROM is horrible and old... now my HD is better functional

Hi rogermorse, welcome to the world of windows mobile!
As a beginner, its not necessary to change your rom - the official one works fine. You want to get the hang of windows mobile first before attempting any flash. I do have to say that WM has a bit of a learning curve but once you get past that its really good all-rounder device that is very useful in many occasions. Just trying out all the apps (free and commercial) available out there will keep you busy for awhile. Also you will be able to see whether your device has any hardware faults after using it for a month (if faulty most conk out sooner than later). Remember also that changing to an unofficial rom will void your warranty... you want all faults ironed out before you change rom because sometimes you physically cannot reflash back to an official rom for service.
Cooked roms here mostly focus on tweaks, stability and speed and some graphically enhanced. As new devices come out, their OS and default application packages are updated - these are ported to our device so we can also enjoy these updates.
Its a whole new world once you get on the bandwagon!!!
Best advice would be get used to your own phone and stock rom first. Read the manual, read the wiki. Get used to all the functions.
If you are happy with phone, then excellent. If however you are not happy with certain software/functions. Search for fixes and read up on them. If in future you would like to change to a cooked rom, again, search and then read up on them.
Also there are not only faults in the Stock ROM, in the custom ROMs there are newer applications and builds of the operating system. Some even have (or most of them nowadays) Windows 6.5 and/or Touch Flo 3D 2.5, which is better looking and has more functions.
Hi good night to all the people of the forum, I want to know is if posible install the swype keyboard on WP7? I´m asking because i love to use this keyboard on windows phone, and wen install WP7 i din´t see the keyboard.
would like to know also.
Swype at present has only been written for WM 6.5 and Android... we will just have to wait for a WP7 one.. as WP7 has totally different requirements..
It may not even be released, but we can hope..
im sorry if this is a redundant question but how (if its even possible) do you flash a wm 6.5 rom to the athena? i'm asking because i have a very stable rom i just love on my treo pro and i'm wanting to see if i can put this same one on my x7500. please let me know if its even possible.
well you need to go to the sub group about ROM development for this device.
However, I would question if you want to do this at all. WM 6.5 was really designed to be finger friendly, but the Athena is not really finger friendly at all, and you really need to press hard to get the screen to respond. I ended up using the Athena project WM 6.1, which is just fine for my purposes.
Having said which, I use it less and less - and it will probably soon be sacrificed for a nice new Android tablet.

Just another WM question

I've noted that you're still using your HTC Tytn II, just wondering what ROM you have on it.
Hi Everybody !
you all know how strange it might be some requests form your boss but this is the most strange one !
My Boss has a system that work on WM 6.5 only and doesn't work on WM 7 and he requested that I should Provide him with 40 New WM 6.5 devices !
you know that they are not available currently So I figured out that I should buy new WM 7 Devices and Flash it Back to WM 6.5 !
I think theoretically this is possible but have anyone tried it ?!!!
I want to Try it on HTC 7 pro Device , Could anyone tell me wha the steps I need to do that ?
any other suggested Devices ? I only want it to be New ,with QWERTY keypad and I can install WM 6.5 on it !
Thank you all in Advance.
Your only choice may be a new 6.5 device, and not much else. The HTC HD2 is still available, here in the UK, it is now the only 6.5 device stocked by Expansys on their web site.
How much longer will they be around? What's HTC's roadmap for the WinMo HD2?
Flashing 6.5 over a Phone 7 device, is asking for an expensive error.

I know that HD2 is the Only WM 6.5 device that still Availble but the problem is that HD2 Doesn't have a QWERTY keypad and the system required a lot of Typing.
Thank you for your support.
