Found this article about some possible features of the X12, or Cliaro (not eclairo as someone posted )
Rumours specs:
1.5Ghz TI OMAP 4 Processor
4" AMOLED screen 1080 x 720 resolution (looks a bit suss... what a weird aspect ratio)
Gyroscope
10mm thick
12MP AF Camera
and... a third UI to go with Time/Mediascape
If this is for real, say goodbye to support for the X10 after this year, as SE will surely place all their efforts on the newer device
But knowing me I'll probably jump to the X12 anyway
Link:
http://www.prlog.org/10926413-selec...indicate-slim-powerful-device-on-the-way.html
1080 x 720 on 4"
3.33" × 2.22" (8.45cm × 5.64cm) = 324.5 PPI, 0.0783mm dot pitch, 105300 PPI²
no surprise if this is real.
it's almost half year since last SE flagship.
but x12 is a weird name isn't it?

No way. You can tell this is a lie because they will never have AMOLED screens. It will be a super LCD.

I've read in previous annotations of the rumor from within the past few days the x12 will have a 12.2 megapixel camera,
so not all that wierd. (kinda like X10 wasn't X3/X5 as it was a new branch of XPERIA phones)
Keep in mind that a rumor by any other name is still a rumor. I don't doubt most of the specs of this rumor but I wouldn't consider it anything more than rumor until it is officially announced by SE. Many details are likely incorrect or likely to change before it's finalized and announced.
Same for me, it looks like more like a rumour rather than fact.

I dont think it's true, I beleive qualquam or what ever there name is JUST started shipping the new processors out and are excpected to be released by Q3-Q4 of 2011, that seems way to soon, plus we know how fast sony works on the software side.
X10 could have been released what, nov-dec 2009? and came out march/may 2010?
most of if could be true but the release date must be WAY off.
1080 x 780 = Standard NativeTV HD resolution
I bet is has no multi touch lol

Why would Sony ship their flagship phone with screens made by other companies when they can use Super LCD screens that they use? They wouldn't use it in their flagship phone.
I have also seen another webpage claiming it to have a 1.2Ghz processor and a Super LCD screen.
There is no fact behind this.

Perhaps SE doesn't know they have a branch making screens?
Anyway lets just wait for an official statement. Guessing isn't going to change their plans.
If it gets released before we have froyo, there is a big chance it won't have grotto either.

I guess this is what sony will do with the x10 if this x12 is a reality.
Looks like its a strong rumour though, also looks like 2 powerful phones, the other being a windows7.

I guess using an AMOLED screen would be just like se though. Htc are starting to use SLCD and for good reason so se just have to go opposite the others.

Well seeing as to how it costs less than half of what the X10 costs, I don't think it should have much going for it in the first place if the X10 doesnt
That's just pure BS from them. I know we're going to get it, but still ridiculous on their slow asses.
This device is a wicked device but its just SE are a bunch of w*nkers who dont please their customers as they used to before the x1, since xperia god knows what they playing at. Tbh i love my x10 and yes i do miss my blackberry 9700 but hey u win some u lose some

I'll upload a screen cap if you like, but I wouldn't want to offend x10(big) owners.

SE has gone off their rockers with the 2.1 update. True X10 has a big screen, HTC Desire HD has a bigger one 4.3 and it has 16M colors.
Thinking to upgrading my X10 to HTC Desire HD when it releases in Oct, this one has 2.2 out of the box.
Flash, App2SD, 8M CAM, more memory, FM radio, multi-touch and bigger screen with 16M colors, makes my X10 looks like an extinct dinosaur.

You know... in 6 months, there will be an even better phone, right?
You know... that's how technology works, right?
You know... it's silly to compare year old technology to brand new right?
Nah. I welcome your posts in 6 months, when SE announces the X20, with Android 3.5 out of the box, with support for PlayStation 3 games, super-multi-touch, and a 50mp camera with x-ray vision that makes your Desire HD look like the **** a dinosaur took millions of years ago.
The Arc looks like a fantastic all around phone in that it has great clear/loud sound/with mega bass. I wonder if this phone is using the Wolfson chip.
Takes great pictures in low light/video is smooth/Hdmi mirroring. Very smooth UI and great colors on the screen.
It has a single core Qualcomm Scorpion MSM8255 processor. I realize its not a Dual Core phone but since they are just entering the market I would prefer to go with a single core 2nd generation phone.
I was thinking of getting the Samsung Galaxy S II but Samsung is still doing updates on the first Galaxy S and I don't trust them re updates.
Sony has stated that they did not handle updates for the X10 very well but promise to do a lot better with updates in regards to the Arc,I believe them.
Furthermore bigger isn;t always better.(Dual Core Vs Single Core)
In the end I want a phone that has clarity/volume in regards to phone calls/Great Camera/Good Video/can play games on it.
Would love to hear your opinions on the Arc Pro/Con.

I'm looking for opinions on this phone not looking for stuff like you can never trust a thief.
Its not using wolfson chip.
The camera is about as good or maybe 5% better than the X10's. (check GSMArena photocompare)
The Bravia Engine works only with pictures or videos. Rest of the time its just like any other TFT LCD.
Internal memory is a measly 500 mb.
I personally don't think the Arc justifies its price tag, the Neo has everything the Arc has but at a much cheaper price.
Oh and like the X10, it will take months to crack the bootloader, so no custom ROMs.

apparently this is not the case. The hard lockdown on devices in the past has made it hard even for SE to upgrade the phones. The new phones are said to have a more open bootloader to make it easier to update
+1 for the Neo (how could SE have stuffed up and not given their flagship model a front facing camera.. but given the cheaper model the same fancy new screen and camera chip and also given it a Front camera!) are they really that stupid?
I'm going buy an HTC or Samsung next..and if not them a motorola.. after those choices.. I might consider a Neo
Kiwi
And so here I am on a brand new Arc. Had it for a day or so and must say it's been very smooth so far. My latest phone was an X10i so this is not terribly different...
Anyway, first impressions are very good. Great screen. Native Exchange integration is perfect (except I can't sort contacts by other than first name, believe this is an Android quirk). WiFi tethering was very smooth. DLNA was hitch-free. In-call sound quality is very good, I'd say better than the other Xperias I've had (apparently it has a little mic that takes up background noice to cancel it out, though I think I'll need to fly with a head-set to experience this properly). Why they've switched the "menu" and "back" buttons around I can't understand for the love of me, but maybe there's a reason...
Overall, with my short experience it's been great, so far. Certainly a phone I would recommend to any non-X10 user and probably to those that have X10s, as well.
Cheers for now/M

look, when you talking about you don't trust sgs which is only 3 months younger than x10 and got 2.2 update almost the same time as x10 got 2.1, and knowing that SE announced x10 would never receive 2.2 but samsung never claim they won't provide further version, but then you said you trust in SE?

Got to play the arc, neo and play last night, and I also saw the arc at CES. Its certainly improved since then, and huggee fast first time round.
One thing I noticed is that the widget overview is now smooth, no lag like before.
As for neo vs arc, there are lots of similarities, but when you pick the phones up the arc feels better, special somehow. The neo feels normal... Also the display is better on the arc.

There are Differences on Arc and Neo not just the Looks
Arc
>Clear Black Panel(No Air Gap, Great Sunlight Legibility, 20% more Brighter than Neo)
>Lightweight(117g) vs (126g)
>Slim Arc Body(8.7mm~10.5mm) vs (13mm)
>Screen Size 4.2" vs 3.7"
Neo
>Front Facing Camera
>Better Hardware Positions(Camera Sensor, Shutter Key)

if u want power along with beauty go for Samsung Galaxy S2 (the best phone available right now)... latest hardware shouldnt be outdated for another 10-12 months... btw some of the TOP devs at XDA are already working on SGS2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1058
lg 2x (aka G2x) has got good hardware but they have wasted a lot of space on the handset design... i have tested it and the display/screen is only 4'' but the whole device feels unnecessarily bulky/big almost as big as the 4.3'' ones... the touch sensitive buttons are not really very sensitive and require a little fiddling to get them to work (especially HOME button)...
if u just want to go for the looks of the Arc only then buy it... already outdated hardware... it is already 8-10 months old (MSM7230/QSD8255)...

Where are you getting these numbers?
Also, 1 second of speed for a cpu makes a hell of a difference, one second of lag vs. one second of no lag.
It is 2-3 times more powerful and has at least double the quadrant score and linpack.
The cpu/gpu is a current gen vs. an outdated one.
You can think whatever you want, but electronics is my job/field.
The sgs2 is far more advanced than the arc.

Top part does look like a HTC, whole thing looks fake.
What are the chances of Sony Ericsson using ST-Ericsson processors for their upcoming dual core phones? Apparently the U8500 and the NovaThor Processors are pretty powerful and very power efficient.
Looks ugly.
I have always hated how SE moved the 'XPERIA' wording from below the LCD screen (X10) to below the hardware buttons (Arc), it just doesn't look right.

whoever design this, they better sent this design back to drawing board or facing the consequences of low sales for this phone
If this is to be x8 segment price I still can understand, but for dual core flagship smartphone, it made lg optimus 2x looks like a state of the art design.
I think the design is pretty good. I mean how many ways can you design a phone that's basically made up of entirely of a touch screen? There is a new pic going around with the Duo right next to the Arc that can be found at the bottom of this link:
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/new...-preps-a-dual-core-smartphone-xperia-duo.aspx

I agree. We need to see the back of it to make the decision on whether or not it looks ugly. I'm hoping it doesn't follow the htc battery cover design choices....
Sony Xperia Z2 (C770X). The phone is code named Avatar and is equipped with a 5.2 inch IGZO Triluminuous Display with a 506ppi pixel density. If true, this would top the current industry leader, which is the 468ppi on the 4.7 inch HTC One. The silicon inside the phone would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 Chipset and a multitasker's wet dream, 3GB of RAM, would be on board.
The 20.7MP rear-facing camera would support 4K video capture and a 3200mAh cell would keep the lights on. and Xenon Flash. And the Sony Xperia Z2 would give you a break as it said to run on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Expect the new model to be on display at CES 2014 where it will have some pretty big shoes to fill. I saw an article on the iPhone 8z...

Sony Xperia Z2 (C770X). The phone is code named Avatar and is equipped with a 5.2 inch IGZO Triluminuous Display with a 500ppi pixel density.
And the Sony Xperia Z2 would give you a break as it said to run on Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Expect the new model to be on display at CES 2014 where it will have some pretty big shoes to fill.

Fake rumor 100%
A site with no whereabouts published this rumor and all sites like phonearena and etc etc are spreading the rumor.

Even if the rumour did turn out to be true the Z1 is still one hell of a phone and won't be lacking for performance for quite a while.
I thought Sony will be giving a more "Japanese-ish" device code name. Remember the Yuga - Togari - Honami?

Avatar is a Sanskrit word, meaning "Incarnation". Sanskrit is one of the oldest languages that has its origin in India.

That is sanskrit meaning... but remember Avatar the air bender tv series.. it is not indian
This "rumor" seems to be no more than someone's wet spec dream. Moving on, nothing to see here.
As for the nomenclature: avatar is a hindu concept.
the rumour missed the OIS, IR blaster and 135gm weight of the Z2
Guess im going to have to get this phone... Its codenamed after me.
I cant believe these sites are posting these "leaks." Cough cough, phonearena. I can easily just submit a tip and make a educated guess on the specs.
Achieving 500 ppi would mean putting full HD resolution on roughly a 4.6inch screen, or on a 5.2inch screen you would have to bump up the resolution to something like 2560x1440 (these are rough figures... I haven't worked it out).
Apart from boasting about large numbers, the benefit of a slightly higher PPI would be negligible and certainly not noticeable to the human eye, and the extra processing power required would probably result in a noticeable performance loss (the higher resolution has almost double the number of pixels at 3.6m compared to 2.1m).
Also, IGZO tech hasn't even made it's way onto larger sized monitors on a large scale yet. The likelihood that it'll be good to go for Sony's next flagship is small.
Clearly whoever made these up is just dreaming and has no idea about the technology behind those specs.
If it really has an IGZO display I WILL get it. But we'll have to see about that. I haven't heard anything else about it so for now it feels like a pretty unbelievable rumor.

Personally, I think, its possible for next year's september flagship to have such specs but not the Jan one at all! Also like you said, the specs are too much to expect in a short period of time... Definetly made up and I don't expect anything of this to materialise!
and here we go again!
the device isnt even available worldwide and rumors of next device start!

And the cycle begins again.
This is so fake that I'll made a slogan:
The best of Sony got better. Again and again...
