This is the Epic 4G's update to enable Media Hub on their device.
It seems like its working on the Vibrant.
sweet.. just download it and installed.. it works really great..
How much are rentals?
Pricing sucks for Media Hub. It won't catch on unless it becomes competitive with that of iTunes or Amazon even it is the only means to buy/rent movies and TV shows. Why pay 2.99 for South Park episodes when I can download them for free and put them on my phone? Rentals are 2.99 and only available for some movies and the purchase price for movies are 9.99. I haven't seen any rental options for TV shows.
Bought a TV show it wont even play

Exactly, I was looking forward to this until I saw the pricing
Still says Coming Soon on mine.
What a huge huge disappointment! The movies are from like the 90s (clueless? Really?) And they want me to buy it for $10??????? Geez

yeah. shows should be 1 buck and movies 5 at the most. why would i want a $10 movie on my phone when i have about 500-700 Xvid/divx moveis on my comp for free
Installed ok but I agree, they should have more content. It's a big yawn right now.

Besides, I can "rent" for $1 down the street. Why would I pay $3 from my phone.
For crying out loud. Media Hub isn't even officially out yet and you guys are already complaining. How about you wait for it to be officially out, then complain? Then again, half of the people on this site are impatient.

It is officially out since they released the OTA Sprint Epic update with working Media Hub app.
More content providers will be on board in the future. ABC is the next provider to jump on board.

Important part: "down the street".
Some people are not as studious as you.
Yeah, its totally unreasonable for anyone to charge for a legal download of a product. Especially since you have so much illegal content already on your computer! Samsung should download all their shows from bit torrent, that way they could give them to everyone for free!
To stay relevant to this post, I agree that the prices are much too high. 99 cent shows would be perfectly reasonable.

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if any of you knew of a program or way to watch tv shows on the vibrant. I'm wantin to watch season one and two of the tv series Castle
Any thoughts?
The easiest method would be to buy the DVDs and rip them using Handbrake.
Try TV.com from the apparently market and it's free
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I thought tv.com only showed clips and you have to pay for the full show
No. TV.com is completely free, but thus the selection is limited. There are some decent CBS shows on it - I watched the pilot of the new Hawaii Five-0 on it.
Handbrake doesn't let you rip encrypted DVDs, so it's usless for you.
With as much TV as I watch while working, I got JetFlix. I went and dropped the $50 bucks for the year. Quality is alright... but I mostly listen to TV as I work. Old habit I picked up on when I worked from home.
It has tons of shows. It is always updating. and you can download them to watch when there is no wifi or 3g.
that's my 2 cents.
Wait for froyo then you can watch tv shows on hulu

Bitbop. its 9.99 a month but you get to watch an ass load of shows
Best investment I've ever made... SLINGBOX !!... it was 300 bucks for the Pro_HD but you get to watch everything you watch at home, Live, every channel, free... just need high speed internet at home.. very easy setup, and awesome quality and you can change channels and everything. It's like being at home !!
You have plenty of options but between justin.tv and atdhe.net I think you're all covered
This is probably the wrong forum to ask this on, but does anyone have an idea of what a full package line-up from the Sprint TV service includes? I have the free tv that comes w/ the phone, and it's pretty cool and I think I would use it more if the programming was better - any ideas on where I could get a schedule for the channels they carry? I'm not talking about the free ones, but all of the pay channels they have - it's very vague on the website.
You can see everything available from your phone. Not worth the money you have to pay, IMO. Get yourself a used Slingbox on eBay, and watch the TV you already pay for at home on your TV. I've had mine for months and it is BAD ASS!
So your slingbox sends it to the phone huh. Good call man! I didn't even think of that! Thanks.
Yup.....through the existing internet connection you have at home, the Slingbox can control your tv, cable box, satellite box, etc. Depending on which model of Slingbox you get, you can control multiple devices and it can control your DVR and even a DVD player. It's better than way than to pay Sprint a monthly fee for no where near as many channels. Not to mention, you can view the Slingbox on 3G, 4G or WiFi and SprintTV only lets you use your 3G signal.
Sprint TV sucks.

Explain...
I agree on the Slingbox. I've had mine for years and it has been great. It works perfect on my Evo with 3g coverage.
Sprint TV works just as poorly as it did when I first tried it several years ago on a Treo 700.

hmm, it works pretty damn good on my phone.
I haven't grabbed a Slingbox yet, but I'm going to next Monday. I appreciate the help.
Slingbox quality on evo?
How is the quality of the picture when using the slingbox app on your evo? Does it get a constant feed or does it buffer often? You can watch dvr'd progams through the application? I definitely might be interested based on your feedback.
Does anyone know if it will? If it doesn't i will be pretty annoyed.

According to what? Nobody has said that for the wifi version, only the 3g. Nothing for US release yet.

[speculation] yes it should be released at the same time as the 3/4g version.. [/speculation]
Just what it says on the Google responses, just specualtion I would imagine. Its "supposed " to be released that date or that's what sources are saying

No source has said it except people like you and me. It was only announced a few days ago and has not shown up in any ads.

Here's some interesting reading:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/44943?start=15&tstart=0
I particularly loved this post:
If you've been following any of the numerous blogs and news stories about the XOOM and its pricing around the internet, you'll noticed that there are a lot more 'neutral' buyers out there than there are pure fanboys. In that I'm saying that there are those people who will only buy Apple products and loathe anything Android, and on the other side there are Android fans who want to see Apple eat dust in the wake of Android's tablet dominance (which is looking less likely now.) But, in between these two groups is a much larger group of people who couldn't care less about the OS or the company and will buy according to two things.
1. The value (Price):
Let's face it. We're in an economic slump, and price will win out over features and OS. This means people are going to be more willing to buy a $499-$599 tablet with WiFi only over an $800 tablet that requres a $20 data plan and a $35 activation fee. The iPad proved this by itself before any other tablets were even dreamt of. The WiFi only iPad is by far the most popular version.
2. Reputation:
The neutral buyers in the market for a tablet know what an iPad is, what it does, and how much it costs. It's been out for a year, and it's been a huge success. They also know that the iPad 2 is on its way and that it will probably have the same price points. On the other hand, the XOOM is a new tablet by a manufacturer who has only proven itself in the smartphone market. Tablets are a new venture for them, and they haven't proven themselves like Apple has. The OS might be slick, but it's also unproven. iOS was successful because people had already been using it on their iPhones for a long time. Honeycomb is essentially Android, and it's slick, but it's still unproven.
That being said, everyone was excited about the XOOM at CES and those neutral buyers were drooling over it and ready to give it a chance over the iPad. Now, Motorola has struck out.
Strike 1: Price
$800 is a lot for a tablet, and most people (obviously) aren't willing to pay that much. I won't argue that it's not comparable to the iPad. It is...To the 32GB 3G version, which leads me to...
Strike 2: Veriety (I'm not talking colors like red...)
Releasing the most expensive version of the tablet first is a boneheaded move. Apple got it right with their teired pricing, but Motorola is trying to shove an $800 tablet down consumers throats when the majority of the market was expecting a more affordable option. It's fine to have a 3G version at $800, but it's not fine to piss on those that make up the largest portion of your potential buyers by not offering a WiFi only version for under $600. This gives way to...
Strike 3: Data Carriers
This is a big turn off for even those willing to pay $800. There's not many people who want to pay a data plan every month. It's nice to have that option, and I'm glad Verizon is doing it on a month to month basis instead of a 2 year contract, but to force people to pay $20 for a month of data plus a $35 activation fee on top of $800 plus tax is ridiculous. Going back to Strike 2, many people want a WiF only version because they are casual users who just want something to use around the house or over at Panera Bread on a lunch break, and there are others who just don't want to be tied to another carrier fee or don't want to give Verizon any of their business.

I know this is probably ancient news for most people but I just found out I can watch all the movies I want on Amazon for free. You have to have a Amazon prime account though. Just as good as netflix I think.
No charge? In any ways?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
No charge if you have Amazon prime accoun which is 79$ a year.
Cheaper than netflix.
What kind of movies does Amazon have?
$80 year and can watch as much as you want?
ETA: Ok I found it and looked. Pretty much the same stuff Netflix has.
Do you knowif it works with a rooted Xoom? Google rentals don't seem to work (drm issue?).
youd probably want tocheck out the movies they have. So far the ones I've seen are alot like what they have on Netflix. They have a lot. And the $80 also gets you 2 day shipping free and next day for $4 when you buy stuff . that's the best thing about prime because I'm always ordering things from Amazon and don't like waiting a week to get it. As far as rooted xooms it should work because its just streaming the movie. The video quality is pretty good I was watching a HD Yellowstone movie that looked awesome.
Netflix is cool though, like the original. I don't think its cool when big company's come in and because they have more sources to draw from and offer a catch like cheaper shipping. Netflix is trying too, scoring Mirimax recently.
Not that the deal on amazon is bad, its just a shame.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
yeah I love Netflix. Have it on 4 devices works grate on my my Samsung vibrant. I just thought I'd let people know there is a way to watch movies on there xoom if there not going to make Netflix for xoom. Don't know ifits true but I read somewhere the the Netflix app is just for snapdragon devices. Hard telling when orif they'll make it for xoom. Like G voice.

Netflix single handedly killed blockbuster and every single other movie rental service.
Hi Guys
I'm new to XDA but have been a long time visitor, I have pre ordered a 16gb Nexus 7 and cant wait but I had a Question
As stated at I/O the Nexus 7 comes with several extras such as $25 credit (£15 in my case) and a copy of Transformers the Movie, so i was wondering if we are to receive the copy of the movie, what are the chances of Google activating Movies & TV and purchases in the UK?
I know i can download movies using alternative methods but it would be great if it was possible to use Google Play Movies & TV
Thanks
The UK can access movies through the play store already, just not TV shows

Thanks i can see that but i would like to know about purchases as we can only rent as of now in the UK
Oh, i see. Sorry
i wouldn't expect anything anytime soon, especially seeing how we haven't even got google music in the uk yet.
for whatever reason media companies seem reluctant to allow decent movie/tv over the internet. all the offerings from lovefilm, netflix, film4 and the like are pretty disappointing.

couldnt agree more about the lack of decent tv/movies
I have got google music on my htc one s.... although i cant download music i have managed to add my own collection to it :victory:
i don't understand the attitude of the film companies. it's almost impossible to get decent content online, and then they wonder why people download stuff illegally.
mate of mine wanted to watch a film, but there's no rental store near him and he didn't want to wait 2-3 days to get a postal rental. so he got it off torrent and the film studios lost a few quid. their loss not his.
at least we've got spotify in the uk for music - and if you can afford a cheap NAS it's a great way to get at your music on the go.
