Hello every one,
When I plug my Omnia 7 with my laptop, it appears the message "USB Device Not Recognized. Unknown Device (Code 43)." I have tried different ways posted in this forum but non of those worked. I tried to restart my pc, plug off battery, hard format my phone, tried in different laptops, and the other methods, but non of those worked.
I need help please if anyone could tell me what to do I would appreciate.
Try reinstalling zune, maybe even reinstalling sammy usb drivers.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I have to say .... we can spend hours understanding these windows phone
I do not know why a windows phone cannot be synced with a windows computer. Am having the same problem. My device appears as unknown device in Device Manager. I tried to update the drivers from Zune folder, but it does not find the correct drivers there. Any help would be so appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
i had the same problem in my omnia 7 very recently.
followed the below steps now it si working
Reset the phone
Restored the back up i had (older version)
upgraded to latest version 7.10 (8773)

All you can do is to cross your fingers and pray
Cause mine started working one day out of no where .... so i think with MicroSoft products, everyithing is based on pure luck
I think I can help - it may be the BATTERY!
Hi - I stumbled on this thread by accident but had a very similar problem - I will look up the Whirlpool thread where I wrote about it as it was a while ago - but similar symtoms all fixed by replacing battery. _ i dropped my Ominia briefly into water.
Here's what I wrote in Whirlpool forum on 2011-Oct-31 (can't post link as new member) Thread Title "Samsung Omnia 7 i8700 - Part 2"
My beloved Omnia 7 took a very quick dip in the pool on the weekend. Life lesson learnt: "Do not put phone in top pocket as it will fall out."
Anyhow I grabbed it straight away and turned it off – dried it off etc – I was amazed it booted and runs BUT things are not good.
Phone works normally (all functions, wifi, apps, OS etc.) on external charge either AC or PC USB
Phone works normally on battery, but it keeps playing an alert chime, will not sleep, and in Settings / Battery Saver it flashes on this screen and it does not sleep as whatever its alerting on prevents idle.
Goes to sleep when on AC/USB charge.
After plugging into AC/USB, and unplugging from AC/USB, phone runs normally, believes it is being charged, does not play alert chime, but does not sleep
Does not interface with PC via USB plug into USB causes USB Device not recognised (tried different cables/PCs)
Does enter download mode, but USB not available.
At a long shot, it may be the battery. I know I could buy online (risk it won't be the issue). All I need to do is a quick battery swap test but need a spare battery.
WHAT A MESS. Let me know if you are a Brisso and wouldn't mind sharing your battery for 5 mins....
If replacing battery fixes the problem then GOD knows what Engineering Samsung/Microsoft is upto

I had the same prob here and windows can not recognize my Omnia 7 any more after it caught rain.
I had the same problem on my Windows 7 (64 Bit)
Unknown usb Device , lot of posts have found and at the end it was USB-Cable !!!
The problem was in the length of the cable, with long (1m cable) i can flash but no connection over Zune, after i take cable from my Nokia 15 cm short cable it works without any problems.

I tried all cables, SS, Noikia, Kindle... none worked
What Windows are you using, do you have original ROM on your Omnia ?
For example if you are using some other rom than original , that there you have changed settings for USB port (In Diagnose Mode you can check this)
I am on original German T-Mobile ROM, exact same issue, no cure for now. Looks like an end of life for old good Omnia ...
But I did force update both 8112 and 8773 yet before ZUNE actually suggested the update .So not really in a position to complain.
But if anybody here did a "fully legal" ZUNE update (no flash no forced) then it means that the update itself is a problem and MS / SAMSUNG are responsible (not that it ever changed). Did anyone on OEM ROM with the issue upgrade in a fully clean way ?
Just now noticed - this is similar to the problems mentioned in another 2 threads hot here - just in another case people experienced only annoying "alert ringing". Looks like some of us get hit more severe, others less. XDA gurus - PLEASE spend time on this ! This looks as a massive desease case, last hope is XDA.

UPDATE : after all, this was not software related issue. USB port got rust, 70$ to replace it - all troubles gone, connects to PC and no alarm.

Hi.
Last week I noticed that my I9000 running CM9 has no charging symbol on the indicator. Then I tried to shut down the phone and just charge it turned off, but it immediately booted itself to OS when I connected the cable. When I connected it to computer it just charged without charging symbol and nothing happened. Computer didn't detect it, and the phone also did not detect the computer.
Then I tried to wipe everything (data, cache, dalvik cache) and flashing a new CM10 rom (I had to transfer .zip to phone via bluetooth ) . I also cleaned the connector with alcohol and checked the leads on PCB and everything seems fine. But it still doesn't work.
This morning when I connected it to computer it recognized it and phone asked me to choose USB mass storage. But after few seconds the computer reported malfunctioning USB device. After I disconnected the cable charging symbol remained on like it's still connected. Then I rebooted the phone and again there is no charging symbol and no communication with computer. I also tried few other USB cables (another samsung, SE, nokia...)
Is there anything else I can try or should I start saving the money for a new phone?

No. Nothing happens. I also can't find it in device manager.
Sounds like it might be borked alright. Though if it's still charging then at least you won't have to rush out and by a new phone. Try removing your microsd card and formatting your internal storage, before you connect it. Long shot, but it might work :-/
I haven't connected the phone to pc in quite a while tbh, I usually just download the latest version of Cyanogenmod straight from the browser to update, and use dropbox to send any files I need from my PC. e.g. new songs, videos etc. Though obviously if I was reloading all my music/videos I'd need the usb connection to work.
My phone ran out of power, shut down, and I plugged it into my laptop to charge it... only it won't charge.
When plugging it into my laptop it tried to install the drivers (don't know why since it was plugged in once before) but failed.
I checked the Device Manager to see what the issue was, and instead of it listing "Nexus 4" (as it has in the past) it says "QHSUSB_DLOAD."
Now I've googled this, and read several post about it on XDA, but they all mention bricking the phone when flashing ROMs and/or Root.
The thing is, my Nexus 4 is NOT Rooted/Unlocked/Etc. It's running the same Stock as when Google shipped it to me back in Nov of last year.
What can I do to get it working again???

Plug it into the wall for about 5-10 minutes and try again.
If it doesn't work, just RMA it.

That is beyond confusing... I've never once had this phone plugged into a wall charger (wall charger was sitting in the box until moments ago) and all of a sudden it decides it doesn't want to charge off the computer.
After charging it from the wall as you stated; it powers up and will connect to the computer without listing QHSUSB_DLOAD as the device name. But instead it says Android ADB Interface, and won't let me access the device as a Media Device via Windows Explorer (in fact it doesn't list the device as connect at all in Windows Explorer. It's only showing in Device Manager)
Sidenote: While waiting for a reply here on XDA to the issue, I decided to contact Google Support via phone about the issue. The reps answer was "Contact your computer manufacture and ask about the drivers you need from them..." - Just love some of their answers to things.

Well, sometimes the phone runs out of charge and it refuses to charge from the laptop.
Have you tried restarting the phone and then plugging it again?

That, and your signature made me laugh lol
So I came back from vacation (with a new Nexus 7) and wanted to throw 4.3 on to my N4. I had formatted my computer a while back, so I installed all the SDK stuff, usb drivers, etc... I did a factory image ADB install of 4.3 on my old N7 (to let the wife try) and went to try to do the same on my N4.
No matter what I do, the device is "not recognized" by windows when connecting via USB. In device manager it simply says "Unknown device" with an exclamation mark. I have tried unistalling/updating drivers (says proper drivers already installed), unistalling/updating drivers via SDK manager, nothing...
Sometimes it will get recognized as a USB device (in general, but the same errors) and sometimes nothing will happen with my computer at all when it's connected (i.e. no sound or anything). I have obviously rebooted the phone and computer multiple times, used multiple USB ports and cables. Just to make sure things were working with ANY device I did the uninstall/reinstall of the USB drivers, hooked up the N7 and it was recognized immediately (the new N7, first time I plugged it in via USB). I have tried with debugging on/off, with MTP/camera, everything I can think of.
The only consistent thing is that the device does charge every time it is plugged in to the computer.
I'm on a stock rooted 4.2.2 with Franco 165. I have never enabled USB fast charging, nor is it currently enabled. I also don't generally hook my devices up to the computer, so this is probably the first time since 4.2.2 came out. I also have not installed any new apps in a long time (and I have very few outside of stock to begin with).
The only things that have changed recently...
- I used a T-Mobile sim when I was on vacation (not my normal provider), and I'm back on my normal provider now. I assume that that is not the issue
- I used a car charger extensively while I was away (I don't normally use it at all). By extensively I mean it was plugged in for hours at a time (GPS). It did appear to have issues charging at times, did get VERY warm at times, and toward the end of a long session of charging it did shut off (and had issues rebooting/with the battery after). It is probably a cheaper made "chinese" charger if that matters
- Liteflow also appears not to be clearing notifications properly since the T-Mobile sim was in. I don't know why...
- Battery life in general seems to be decreasing since I've been home. It notably goes down, especially when not in use.
- I still have the system update icon in my tray (I'd like to do it via ADB)
Would the car charger do this? Again, outside of the battery life seeming to die faster, the liteflow issue, and the USB issue, everything else seems to be working normally.
I'm just out of ideas on why the USB isn't being recognised on my computer with the N4.
Wow you have just described exactly the problem I've been having for the past few days! I am in the exact same boat. Bump for exposure and possibly a fix!
I can charge my phone through USB when connecting to my laptop, but it does show up as a device, anywhere. I've tried ADB, Fastboot, and Device Manager. It doesn't even show up in Device Manager as an unknown device (e.g. yellow exclamation point). I've enabled USB debugging, changed the USB configuration to File Transfers, used multiple cables (including the OOB red one), multiple machines (Windows 10 and 7), but I see nothing. No storage drive, no errors, no Windows sound indicating a device has been connected. But still it charges. I thought about wiping to factory settings, but given I'm not connecting via Fastboot or ADB, is that even worth trying?
I'm on OOS 3.5.6 unrooted and bootloader is still locked, although I've previously had other builds and TWRP on it (so USB used to work for data). I figure that OnePlus won't support me because the screen is cracked in the bottom corner, but I don't see how that could have broken just the data pins and not the charging ones. I think I had this problem before I dropped the phone, but I can't be 100%.
Same problem
I too have the same problem , I too have never rooted it ...Never dropped , never rooted but still suffering from the same problem...
There is an option in the develiper options...
That has these issues sorted with
Try it out there or just let me know
Try changing the cable too. The pins might have worn out
P. S I do not have the issue. Suggestions only
