Three buttons have stopped working........ - XPERIA X10 General

Hello everyone,
I've only had the X10 for about a week. Everything was working fine. However, I'm starting to have issues with the three menu buttons at the bottom. I will power up my phone, and the buttons will work for about 5 minutes. Then the two LED lights between the buttons will just randomly shine one time (even though I did not press a key) and go off. Once they go off, and I try to press a key, nothing works. The LEDs don't come on, and none of the buttons work. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? Like I said, this just started happening to me today. I really would appreciate any help, as I can't really use my phone right now in its current state! Thanks!

I would say try restoring your firmware and if that doesn't work then take it back and have it replaced!!!

Hey Findee,
Thanks for the suggestion. Can you tell me how I would go about restoring the firmware? I'm a little new with this.
Also, for what it's worth, this is an X10a (from at&t).

Yeah no worries
Install SEUS which should have come on the SD card and then hit Start under Support Zone then Software Update. Then just hit repair

All 5 buttons next to D-Pad don't work - any ideas?

With my Tytn (HTC) the red and green buttons dont work, together with the buttons next to them. All other buttons, including the scrollwheel and D-Pad work ok.
I flashed it a couple of times with different ROM's, but this doesn't affect the buttons, so I suppose it's a hardware problem (HT629).
This has happened once before a month ago when I had put the phone in my backpocket. It started working again after a couple of days. Now it doesn't seem to start working again. My best guess is that it has something to do with humid air, but that's a long shot.
I couldn't find any relevant posts regarding this specific problem, so maybe someone has any ideas?
Thxs.
yo
i had the same problem ,all front buttons didnt work so i pull out MicroSD card and reflash device without it and it helped/
cheers
He pksred,
Thxs for the idea. Unfortunately in my case it doesn't work. Reflashed without any result
Does anyone have other ideas. I'm not looking forward to open the phone in the remote hope I find some loose connection.
i got the same problem. all front bottons doesnt work. it used to work after i press the ok botton but now its not function at all.
did you Guys Drop it or something?
If you Hard Reset and the buttons don't come back its possible The Dpad is no good. You'll have to buy a New one and replace it or send it back to Cingular for replacement.

HTC HD power off problems

Hello,
I have a problem with my HTC HD. From time to time it shuts down without any reason. When I press the power button I can see the Windows Mobile starting...
Did any body else had this problem?
Is there a solution for this?
Thank you
perhaps your battery is not positioned properly or sitting a bit loose? Try a post-it (or something else thin) on the back of the battery cover..
Mine shuts down and won't turn back on without a reset every time I'm in an area with no signal, it basically stays off while I'm at work.
if you keep getting these kinds of nondescript errors and it survives a hardboot, basically there are three options left:
1) try to flash a different firmware or
2) take it back to the store (flash back first)
3) hope like hlll some guru here gets an eyefull of your problem and knows a quickfix (slim chance seeing the number of daily new posts here and the typical guru tendency towards development as opposed to a supportdesk)
I'd set my hopes on 1) or 2). Good luck however you choose.
Cheers,
Rick
Guys,
I'm having quite the same problem: the touch HD keeps turning on and off automatically, as if the power button is pressed (but its not).
Moreover, the power button just don't work. I press it and nothing happened.
I have master reseted the phone and also have changed its ROM, but the problem stills.
Unfortunatelly I'm start thinking that its a hardware problem.
I guess that a solution shoul be reassing the power button, disabling it. Is there any app through which I can reassing the power button?
Have you solved the problem? I have a similar prob, my power button doesn't seem to work when i press it, and if i soft reset (through HD Tweak) when it boots I get a warning message saying " Warning your device will power off and you'll lose your data, Yes No".
It's like the button is half pressed all the time.
Couldn't find any info on hard key remapping either.
I used to have a similar problem but it was with the screen....
The screen used to turn off suddenly without a reason but the phone is turned on and I keep receiving calls. After returing back to my Supplier in Egypt they replaced it with a new one after testing it for three days.
I'm using the new one sine 20th of December 2008 and nothing happened again
Well if you guys are in the US (or have HSDPA/UMTS disabled) then re-enable them (that should hopefully get rid of the restarts in low-to-no-signal areas).
Hope it helps

Vega Won't turn on at all. Not even backlight

Just bought my Advent Vega today and was all running fine. Charged it too 100% then turned off and booted into the stock recovery. I then waited for it to show up on the computer as i have already got the drivers installed as i have jjust today flashed someone elses vega on the computer. mine didnt show up and then unplugged it and now it wont turn on at all. Tried charging it and then try booting. Unplug charger nothing. The thing is that the charging light still shows.
Any Help would be great. Dont want to have to send it back for repair. it may take weeks.
Thanks
Alex
Hmmm.... it could be a faulty unit, but my guess would be that you need to try at least 10x to try to turn it on.
I know some people complained that the buttons are very poorly designed and sometimes don't even work.
It's the same for my tablet, the "power/home" button doesn't always work like it should.
Once, I had to retry five times in order to power on the device.
If it's not that it could be some other minor issue, try holding the power button for a long time (8 sec), or try to go into recovery again, or something like that.
a sighn its trying to boot is the blue led under the camera tilt the vega away from you and look at the edge of the LCD it will glow when powering on
have you tried push back button, hold it, then press power button 2 second, the release the power button while still pressing the back button? it should be recognized and can be flashed

Some times this can take several attempts.. and i mean several!
I actually had Audi running and had it connected to the pc so could tell if it had worked or not... not the correct way i know but it worked for me.
Interested to know if you ever got this sorted alcurtis93? I'm having the same issue with a vega where it won't even bring up the backlight. No life in it whatsoever.
A bit of a late reply, but try to wipe your device and maybe even flash a newer custom rom

LG G2 D802 - Power Button Problem

Hey everyone,
First of all thank you for taking a look in my thread, this is my second post here in this forum but, I just have to tell you guys, I've been around since 2012 and you guys rock!
Anyway enough of chit chat, so I had my phone pretty much hard bricked, thanks to some tutorials I've finally found a way to get it back to life BUT ( there's always a but ), it isn't like before, everything was working very nicely after the fix, the Power button stopped working, the volume rockers are still fully functional but the power button isn't. So I thought "f*ck this, I gotta buy a new flex assembly", that's what I did, it arrived today, so I got to work and put it all together with the new button, but for my surprise it is EXACTLY de same as before, so it seems like it has nothing to do with the flex assembly/buttons itself but something more like motherboard or something..
Have any one of you guys had this issue? By the way another very interesting thing is that the buttton "still gives signal" since if I press on it, it doesn't do anything even with the phone off BUT, if I have the phone turned on, and I press it for 5+ seconds , it shutdowns the phone as it should! So why isn't it working when I do a press, but if I hold it works?
By the way my phone when died even the partition table got corrupted, so I even had to redo that could it have anything to do with it?
Oh and the basic tips of putting the phone in Download Mode and fully revert to stock didn't work, already did it many times since I brought it back to like..
Regards, and thank you for reading this LONG post and spending your time with me :silly:
Anyone got any clue please?..

Hi, i has been a long time until you wrote this topic, but now, in 2018, i got the same problem that you.
I bricked the phone, unbricked with some xda's tutorials, install a kdz image and system got ok, but the damn power button not work.
It work on a very specific moment that is when the phone is on and i press the button, after 5 seconds the phone turn off, but none menu appears, it just turn off. Besides, it won't work to turn on the device. In this case, i aways need to put the cable and when the LG log appears I must remove (if not, the battery symbol is shown, and the device not turn on).
I wonder if you were able to fix your phone or someone of xda had this problem.
Thanks
Nope never got it fixed just moved on and bought another device, besides that is now a outdated device..

LG G2 not turning on/bricked?

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my LG. Yesterday i was casually lurkin some internet or whatever. Havent done anything suspicious or something. Then i switched phone off and put it for a while on the side. When I tried to unlock it after that it was impossible. Phone just doesnt respond. I havent rooted it or done anything connected with roms etc, not into this stuff really. When i plug it into charger red LED starts blinking, then LG logo appears, then battery icon and after that its just charging like normally and still red LED lights. Right now its fully charged so instead of red, the LED is green. The buttons combinations dont work neither (hold power, hold power and vol-) besides holding vol+ and power. I have to hold it for a while, then plug into charger and then some kinda download menu appears, but it does nothing too. Still cant start the phone. However few hours ago i just tried holding power for a bit and everything worked perfectly. Then i locked the screen and *bam* bricked again. I know there are many topics like that but i havent found the exact same problem with solution yet. Every help would be highly appreciated. :good::good:
BUMP please any advice. It actually Turner on one more time, but when i tried using power button, at first it didnt respond, then after few seconds it went bricked back. I managed to take off the backcover so maybe there is sth i can do?
I could be wrong but sounds more software related then hardware to me, maybe try to use one of that flash tools or pc suite to do a clean flash and sadly lose all your data.
If that doesn't help idk....
You don't have a backup do you?
No, unfortunately i dont. I didnt expect that to happen.
Yo so I actually managed to turn it on (i ve no idea how) and its working fine. Im scared to press the power button so it will be unlocked all the time. Ive already done the general backup of photos, music etc, but if there is some good app to make solid backup or something please let me know.
Soo is there any other option to find out if it is finally repaired than pressing power button? I can access data on PC so maybe theres the way to fix it now? If i press the button probably it will brick again, and then after couple of days it will suddenly start working, so id rather dont do this..
