Sync with Outlook? - Android Software Development

Not sure if this is the correct part of Forum.
what is the most reliable way to sync outlook with android phone?
I know that you can sync outlook with google calendar, and then android, but that is no ideal, i don't want to sync it google online service.
I also found an app that sync from outlook to some weird office app on andorid, and the date still is not visible though native android apps.

Checks if this helps you!

Best way to migrate data from WM6.5 to Froyo

Hi all.
With the hopeful impending arrival of my DHD, I am keen to know the best way to migrate my contacts, calendar etc to Froyo.
I know I can sync my activesync to sync with Google, but is that the best way?
I want to maintain as much as I can if possible....
oggsync does fairly good to sync contacts and calendar, but some features missing unless you use the paid version.
another alternative (free as long as you have Outlook in your PC):
activesync to desktop outlook -> export to csv from desktop outlook -> use Import feature in the gmail website -> let the data sync from google account to handset.
grateful if somebody could give an advice re tasks. the Task feature of gmail doesn't support recurrent task, and hence absolutely not my choice. Astrid looks good enough on Android, but seems i must manually re-enter all outstanding tasks.
The best way is
On WM6.x use Exchange Server from Google using the google account that you are going to use on Android, and then in Android use that google email account and everything will transfer to android. Simple as that...
thanks for your advice.
you mean this Google Sync service?

EDIT: trying it now. it's handy. thanks!
What I did, was export all my contacts and appointments, and then imported them into my Gmail account. Then synced when I was within Android on my HD2.
Works very well.
cool thread this
i have my contacts backed up on WMDC, but my phone is now dead is there any way to get them from WMDC or microsoft outlook to the DHD
I hope this might help

Froyo and Outlook Tasks and Notes

So what's up with Outlook syncing in Android 2.2? Why is there no simple notes application on this new version of the OS? Why can't it sync with all Outlook features as it did in version 1.6?
It looks as though I will be forced to use Google docs and use something to sync that with Outlook. I use Outlook notes and tasks for work and really need them back on my phone.
I just needed to type and store a quick note on my phone and discoverd that there was no native application for that. Will there be a solution for this in Gingerbread??
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
no native.
i use VCOrganizer (tasks, calendars, notes contacts and categories)
(use only 1 way contact sync or u find doubled contacts on the phone)
it works also with outlook 2010 64bits
i treid many but this is the only one i found that sync also outlook notes
not free

...feel your pain. This has been my biggest challenge too coming from years of (relatively) painless Outlook to phone syncing with WinMo phones...but I am loving this more and more every day!
Basically I ended up "moving to the cloud"...using CompanionSync (worth the $$) to auto sync O2k10 to google.com (includes tasks) and EverNote to sync notes. DropBox for documents and folders. Tasks appear in the google calendar on the due date.

This problem (and a full list of potential synchronisation solutions) is well documented over at http://www.syncdroid.net/
Does anyone know is there have been any further developments towards getting all of outlooks features to sync with android??

I use enhanced email. Not sure if it supports tasks and notes, but the developer is very active on his forum for enhancements.

Outlook on android

Hi guys,
I have got the HD2 and everyone is telling me to go to android, however i do use outlook at work to sync my contacts and calander from exchange server, and can also only be done via wireless on laptop.
If i go to android can i sync contacts and calander to my phone??
because i use this alot i dont want to have hassel trying to do it, and is basically the last thing before i make my mind up to change or not?
Cheers
Exchange sync is there on Android but it differs slightly between a sense and non-sense build.
Either way they all lack sync features that you get with Windows Mobile.
Touchdown is the best feature wise for exchange activesync but the interface is horrible and it doesn't really integrate with the built in mail / calendar / contacts apps.
If you just want to sync Contacts and Calendar, and arent too fussed about private appointments, categories etc... then built in android exchange sync will be fine for you.

and after that install nitrodesk touchdown (exchange client for android)
Stop syncing with Outlook.
I recommend, open GMAIL account, then sync with GMAIL instead, and if you want to sync back to Outlook, download googlesync for outlook.
You can try this:
http://www.android-sync.com/
It uses ADB to sync.
However, connecting an Android phone to a computer is somewhat waste of time, everything can be done wirelessly including charging nowadays anyways.
MyPhoneExplorer
I recommend MyPhoneExplorer to sync Android builds with Outlook. Using it since it came out and it works great. There's even WLAN syncing supported (you need a plugin from the Market do be able to use WLAN). Also available from Market. Great software and comfortable as hell. Only downside: No Outlook category support.

+1, good program
If you use Outlook and sync on a work pc in an environment which is locked down and you can't just install all of these apps being suggested, just try re-installing HTC Sync and the HTC drivers. Works for me.
I'll assume you don't have Exchange. If you do, then just sync directly with Exchange. I you prefer all the benefits of having an Exchange account but want it for personal use, Microsoft now gives ActiveSync/Exchange support with all Hotmail accounts. Just get a hotmail account.
Gmail account is good for personal use, but I prefer all the interactivity that Microsoft has.
If you just want to sync, I'll second the vote for MyPhone Explorer

Sync with Sharepoint Lists and Shared Outlook Calendar

Hello all. I have a user who just got a Nexus S, and we are trying to get his Exchange stuff synced. The problem we are having is that he uses Sharepoint lists to share contacts in his department. His old blackberry had desktop software that could sync these, but I cannot find a way to do it with the Nexus. I have tried the Kies software, however it is not working, I suspect because it is a pure Google phone.
Does anyone know of some software I could get that will sync his contacts?
In additon, he is sharing calendars through outlook, is there a way to get these multiple calendars to sync?
Thanks,
Brennan
Has anyone found a solution for this, or have any ideas of sync methods?
I think this is a limitation of active sync rather than of the mobile device, isn't it?
Been a while since I looked into it, but we have iPhones at work with the same limitations and I couldn't find a way round it at the time.
Yes, this is a limitation. There isn't a way to sync SharePoint and mobile devices directly. There are some apps for Android (e.g. SharePlus) that might work to access the content.
We have been working on an Outlook add-in that syncs SharePoint, Outlook, Exchange. Using ProperSync, users can sync contacts and calendars to their Outlook folders. The items are then distributed to mobile phones via Exchange.
Hope that is helpful.
