[Q] No Dialpad Tones On Incoming Calls - Please Verify - Epic 4G General

I just noticed something wacky with my phone while experimenting with trying to figure out why Google Voice wasn't working. It looks like the dialpad tones/touch tones do not sound when connected to an incoming call.
If you can, please try the following:
1. Call your Epic from another phone
2. Pull up the Dialpad
3. Push a bunch of buttons on the Epic and see if you can hear them on the other line
I called from my office phone to my Epic, pushed buttons on the Epic, and didn't hear squat. I can't find a setting to turn this on - turning on "audible touch tones" didn't work.
Update: to be clear, this is not an isue I'm having with Google voice, it is an issue on any incoming call made directly to my sprint number.

Seriously? I can't get any help on this?

I've noticed many time when using google voice that the touch tones won't work when on a prompt syatem.
I just set it to ask me for each call and use my sprint number for calls that require that sort of input.

That's fine but this is not a google voice issue... this is an issue on my phone that I found while testing google voice. ANY incoming call fails to register keypresses on the dialpad, hence the help I'm looking for; nobody so far has apparently tried this.

help with fring/gv

I've downloaded the latest fring windows mobile cab and installed it, but when I launch it - nothing happens.
I'm trying to get my google voice to integrate with my phone.
I have a Gizmo account and using Nimbuzz, I can dial out from
voice.google.com and talk over my TP2, but I can't use for instance iDialer to call out. I did set up my gizmo/google voice callbacks for iDialer.
I can't answer incoming calls over nimbuzz either, I answer but cant press 1 to accept the call
edit: disabled the "confirmation" on google voice but now it just keeps ringing even after answering?
I'm using Energy Leo WM6.5.3 ROM
Any help would be much appreciated!!
edit:
Been looking at why it wont work all morning, some say HTC Messaging, some say Sense 2.5, some say it flat out won't work with Energy Leo... o.0
bump.
i cant call out via idialer, i can dial out via gv web interface.
i cant answer incoming calls, only dialed out calls
my incoming sound isnt friendly except speakerphone (bluetooth/earpiece/headset i cant hear, but the other person can hear me)
edit:
got my SIP set up in the registry for WM InternetCalling, just need some codecs now and i need to test iDialer more.

Evo not rejecting calls

I am using google voice as primary voice mail and i think because of this every time i try to reject the call i have to do it twice (Hit decline and after 5 seconds the phone rings again and decline again) only then it goes to voice mail.
My question is there anything i can do to fix this and just send the caller to voice mail.
Do you have the feature to screen calls going to voicemail? If I'm following you, then what I did was to turn that feature off in gv settings on the computer. There might have been another setting on the computer to do but I don't remember. This way, I think if you reject the calls, they go to vm. If you go into the log screen of activity in gv on the computer, you can look up the number that called you and there should be a more link just below it. I know one off the settings is block, there might be a setting to go directly to voice mail.
There also might be a setting on the phone in the contact list and under that number if you saved it. There might be a choice to send it directly to vm in it's contact info. Just poke around. Knowing me, this probably isn't what you were looking to do.
And yeah, gv instructions for setup and explaining features had much to be desired at times, aggravating at others.
I have the same problem, even with screen calls turned off. The phone rings and I decline, then it rings again. If I pick up the second time, it's not the person, it's an automated system asking if I want to send them to voicemail. I assume that I can listen to the voicemail, but I'm not interested in that.
I just upgraded from the Hero with the same set up and I did not have this problem with Google Voice. Have you guys figured anything out? When I turned off the Google Voice voicemail the issue went away, but I'm hooked on the transcription function of Voice.
Thanks!

[Q] Missing Voice Mails?!?!?

Not sure if this issue has come up anywhere, I did do a search but didn't find this particular issue in the details.
As you can see from my sig line I've flashed several different ROMs. I am not sure when the problem started, but I am just now getting to the point where it has become irritating.
If I call my phone from anywhere and allow it to go to voice mail, I can hear the prompt and leave a message. However, I never get the Visual Voice Mail indicator, and perhaps more importantly, if I call my voice mail, it reports there are no messages in my mailbox. This happens whether I call it from my phone, or any other phones. This happens if I leave a message, hang up and call right back.
What's even more strange is that when my GF calls me she gets a specialized message "Hi Tina, Brian can't come do the phone right now...". When my buddy calls me he gets a standard cell phone greeting message, the default Sprint one. And if I go into my voice mail my default greeting is a recorded message saying "Leave a message", but again, when you call it you don't hear that. Weird huh?
Has anyone experienced this, or does anyone have a solution? Not sure what's going on, or where to start.
Thanks.
Sprint VVM app has issues with AOSP ROMs.
Follow this thread for a fix that works on a lot of ROMs

Not sure this is ROM or app related yet. Since there are some definite quirks when different people call me. That's what is really odd. Messages left in vmail by caller aren't even there when I call vmail manually.
I do seem to have a working vvm app. It even updated to a newer version. I can listen to sample messages, go thru settings.
Have you ever used Google voice, and then not disabled it properly?

Hm....I am not sure, maybe I'll try to install and uninstall....
Odd, I cannot get Google Voice to install. It is a free program yet I get an error: Error processing purchase. [DF-BPA-09] . I am able to download and install other apps, I tested with Twitter app.
Ok here's a clue:
I turned off my phone, then called it using my office phone and left a message. I then called it again and pressed * during the greeting which prompted me for my PIN. Upon entering my PIN the system reported that I have 28 new messages. LOL.
If I check my voice mail from my mobile phone however, it says I have no messages.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Apparantly an installation of YouMail on one of my ROM installs started forwarding messages with that service. I reinstalled that application and it found all of my messages. I then used the following codes to deauthorize YouMailL *38 Call and *720 Call. I don't know which one worked, but these deauthorize YouMail and return you back to Sprint Voice mail. I tested by calling my phone and sending to voice mail and it did in fact send the message to Sprint VVM.
Hope that helps anyone that stumbles across this message.

Bluetooth voice dialing

Is everybody else's bluetooth voice dialing just god awful?
S voice is crap, so it's frozen. Google's Bluetooth dialer is just the worst thing I've ever seen. Has anybody found out how to get Bluetooth dialing working properly?
Why in the world can't they just make Bluetooth launch voice search?

Old thread, but I'll revive it because I want to talk about the same subject. I agree with the OP, and I'm surprised how badly Android/Samsung handles blutetooth voice dialing. (My last phone was an iPhone 3GS, and voice dialing worked great from day 1 back with iOS 3 or 4, whatever it originally came with.)
I frequently use bluetooth voice dialing in my car, either from a headset or speaker phone. This is a must-have feature for me.
Svoice is completely unacceptable because it requires the phone to be unlocked. If you have to mess with the phone to unlock it, then that defeats the purpose of voice dialing. I do understand that Svoice can do other things besides voice dialing, things which should be restricted by the lock screen. What I don't understand is why they don't give the users the options to enable selected features such as voice dialing while the phone is locked. But they don't, so Svoice had to go.
With Svoice uninstalled or disabled, Google Search takes over the voice dialing duties. It works ok, or at least it used to with Google Search v2.x. One thing about it that I don't like is that it wakes the phone (activates the screen) when you initiate voice dialing, so you can end up with accidental screen touches while voice dialing (if you don't have a pass code, or if it hasn't timed out yet). The screen should remain locked.
In recent versions of Google Search (starting in v3.x?), they decided to make voice dialing worse! If a person has multiple numbers, you can not directly select one, you have to wade through a stupid menu every time.
Say for example I have a contact named Tim Brown who has 3 numbers: home, work, mobile
With Google Search 2.x, you can do this:
Me: Call Jim Brown Home (or I can even just say "Call Jim Home" if I only have one Jim in my contacts)
Phone: Do you want to call Jim Brown at home? Say OK or Cancel.
Me: Ok
Phone: dials
With Google Search 3.x it ignores the location and always presents a menu:
Me: Call Jim Brown Home (the word "Home" is ignored)
Phone: Say Select 1 for Jim Brown Home, Say Select 2 for Jim Brown Work, Say Select 3 for Jim Brown Mobile, or say Cancel
Me: (If I can remember which freaking number was Home) Select 1
Phone: Do you want to call Jim Brown at home? Say OK or cancel
Me: (Yes I do, you stupid phone, I just told you so!) OK
Phone: dials
What a pain in the butt that is. Ironically, if you open Google Search by launching the app (i.e. by interacting with the screen), then it will listen to the "Home" part. It just ignores it if you are voice dialing, which is where you really need it. Does anybody from Google actually use this stuff?
My solution is this. Since my phone is rooted, I have the option of uninstalling Google Search v3.x, find v2.8 on the Internet, and install it on my phone. Then be sure to ignore any updates in the Play store. This works good enough. I can select a specific number when voice dialing, and I can voice dial while the phone is locked. It still turns on the phone screen when I voice dial, but I can live with that.
Note that I don't use Google Now, so I don't care about any new features that are included in the newer versions of Google Search. If you do use Google Now, this solution may not be acceptable to you.
If anyone else has a better solution, please share it.
Thanks
I tried using the Bluetooth Launch app to activate google voice search instead of the voice dialer, but that didn't work while the screen was locked. So for now, I'm sticking with the solution mentioned above (i.e. using google search v2.8).

[Q] Google Voice voicemail issues on LG G2

Google Voice not working from G2 call logs. Anyone else notice this? It shows I have a voice-mail in the phone's call logs but it won't play. Hitting the log does nothing. Can go into GV and hear the message so that seems to be working but it doesn't work like my Gnexus did. Anyone have thoughts or a fix for this?
It's not working right for me either. I kept hoping I would find a setting somewhere but I haven't yet.
Yep. I'm seeing problems too. Sometimes phone rings on an incoming GV number call but most of the time not. This is potentially a deal breaker. I only use GV. Any solutions greatly appreciated!

Try an older version. I wish i could comment on if this works, but i can't get my phone to access google voicemail settings. I recently resubmitted my resume online and i've had 5 calls come in this past weekend on my phone. None have not rung.

Ok. Did that. I tried it a few times today. Rang no problem. I do not get any indication in the recent history of a voice mail but i can swipe notification bar and click on the vm and it opens in voice. Will mess around some more.
My phone rings and it shows in the recent calls notification list. It just won't play the message from that list. I have to open the voice app to listen to the message. I just wish it was more like my Galaxy Nexus but this is probably due to LGs Android tweaks.
I never even look for VM in call log, just quicker, and easier for me to click the notification ....

I reverted to an older version of 0.4.2.54 frin 0.4.2.82 and still am having issues with ringing on an incoming call to my GV number It will ring about 5 our of 7 or so times, but when it doesn't ring, there is no notification of a missed call, not even from GV. I have to go to the Missed call folder on GV to discover the missed call. If someone does leave a message, I do get my notification of the voice message.
This reminds me of the problems I had on my old Droid X with GV and the stock VZ Motorola ROM on that phone. My last phone a Gnex running stock AOSP never had an issue with GV. I suspect that this has something to do with LG's phone/dialer app interacting with GV....
I am also running lightflow for notification, but that shouldn't have any impact on just having the damn phone ring on an incoming call.
Update.
I allowed the OTA and changed Lightflow to not run in the foreground and since haven't had further problems with GV ringing phone on incoming calls?
Not sure what fixed it.

I have a similar problem, i can't make calls to certain numbers with gv. Nothing seems to fix it. It's definitely the g2, i switched my sim back to my nexus and gv works fine.
I was having the same issue. I deactivated it and activated it, and that seemed to solve the issue. On at&t you dial ##004# and hit send to deactivate it. To reactivate you dial **004*1(your gv number)# without the parenthesis and hit send.
