Well, the bigger they are the harder they fall.. Apparently from even two and half feet. My evo is tapped out, and I filed my claim with Asurion this morning, does anyone have an idea on when I can expect to be awesome again?

If they didn't tell you or if you wasn't listening to them when you called. (SN: If you did your claim online you should of saw it or received an email about it too.) You should get it within 4 to 5 days depending if you expedited it then 3 to 4 days from now. Seeing that Sprint.com is now claiming they have EVO's in stock you should have no problem getting one.
Be Careful next time, invest in some sort of case. The Best Buy Belt Clip case seems to be the case of choice amongst all the EVO lovers around me including my self. You can try Ebay but I don't trust anything that I can put my fingers on to feel the material before I buy it.
I waited 9 days for my new one to arrive.
@wallabe
Do u have a link to the case you're referring to?
If not its cool, ill search wheni get home.
Thanks

Did they tell you that the Evo was out of stock? If so, did they offer you an Epic 4G as a "comparable replacement"?
haha, i dont know if anyone has quoted this yet... but im sure the epic.. will be a epic fail! woot.
they said 3-5 but i never got a conformation email and they already deducted my funds. Only reason im a little curious.

I dont see why anybody would get this phone. Why would you need a pyshical keyboard when you have swype????Then the phone itself has the galaxy S on it. Not the best second flagship phone in my opinion. Verizon is flooding the market with a bunch of Android phones, 4G or not I dont see the point in selling a 4G phone when only a select few of people can enjoy it.

The case I have is good and I went ahead used a plastic paint to paint the case. It added alittle bounce to it with the 4 layers of paint and 2 layers of clear coat.

Mine was like that also until they actually shipped the phone..It only took 9 days and when I filed a claim they were out of stock.
well to my surprise it was delivered today at 12:23pm.. At that time I was out looking for my finance's engagement ring in a friends car from when we went out last week. After tearing out the seats and the carpet I was devastated to not find the ring. Keeping my cool, I get home around 4:30pm. Front door, no package as noted, go inside and look in my room, no package. Go to who was home and ask, but claim, no package. Take a stroll around the block.. no package.
Call Fedex, and find out the driver wont be back till tuesday....
Call Asurion, they will send out a phone, must be signed per request.. 3-5 Business days, not including Sunday/Monday.

Bummer on both ends.
I got one from Asurion delivered today, 003 hardware, 2.2 on it.. brand new in box. Not rubbing it in, just letting you know what to possibly expect.
Well, on January 19th I cracked the screen on my Epic when it fell off my truck. It's been at best buy since then, well they finally called me today to tell me they're junking it out and they have a replacement ready for me.
Well, I live in upstate NY and have been in Chicago all week, so hearing that voicemail today I got all excited and went straight to the store to pick up my new Epic (Ready to throw my old stand in Hero against the wall). I get to the store and they don't have any in stock! Idiots...so after 30 minutes on the phone, i'm going to another store aobut 15 miles away to pick up a new Epic...FINALLY!
Just would advise anyone thinking of Best Buy as your insurer to think twice...I know I'll most likely cancel this service as soon as I receive my new Epic. I'm sure many people have had great experiences with them, but this has totally turned me off...geek squad is a joke as they don't know what they are doing and they each seem to have their own take on what their policy is.
well, i'll shut up and look forward to getting back into the fun with my Epic again....I miss this sooo much!
Chris
Over a month for a replacement? LOL
Thanks for the heads up on Best buy. I'm on my third Epic and the turn around at the Sprint store was always one day.
Dude stick with the sprint insurance. I went through 2 phones and both times got them the very next day.
Definitely going the Sprint route next time around. BB is a joke, the Geek Squad in store staff is terrible as they don't even know their own policy...One of the PT girls in the mobile department was the one who told me to call their 800 number because they should be replacing the phone after 30 days. It bothers me that the only person who is of help is a college girl who I imagine works part time...I'm definately going to find the store manager and her mobile manager to thank her for her help....as for their geek sqaud, they can eat it!
Chris....oh yeah, can I start up sprint insurance at this point? Not getting the phone from sprint?
I cracked my screen too a couple days ago at 6pm I made my insurance claim. I had a new phone at my door by 10 am. So fn nice.
Epic 4g
At least you got a brand new phone. I love the price and turn around on my Sprint insurance, but I'm about to recieve my 3rd refurb because the previous two had hardware defects. At this point I'd wet myself if someone told me I could have and actual, new phone.

That's what I was thinking....wow. I have never bought a cellphone from best buy but is this normal for them? I have only bought computers from them. Just from my experience with best buy and a laptop I use to have I will never let geak squad touch anything of mine and won't buy their insurance

The thing to realize about the best buy "black tie" insurance is that no matter what you do to your phone they'll either repair it or give you a new one no questions asked or fees charged, one month turn around excluded it's a pretty great idea.
The idea is great, but the execution is extremely poor...as in the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.
I store near me seems to be one of the worst, from reviews I've read of the location.
I stopped by their store on monday to see, since that was the day AFTER it was promised to be ready on my invoice...nothing. BUT they promised to escalate with an email (more on that later).
The next day I left for Chicago to visit some family, and the first thing I did on wednesday morning was stop by a local best buy out there, heck there were 2 within 2 miles of where I was staying.
The store I stopped into was somewhat helpful, more so than my home store...they geek that looked at my info said he could escalate the case, but couldn't exchange in their store since the work order wasn't generated in their store...when he offered to escalate with an email I told him that was done 2 days ago...he pulled up the screen and said nothing was in the system, and generated an email to escalate.
Even after calling their 800 number minutes later to get clarification on their policy of handsets being replaced in the homestore, the lady on the phone pulled up the file and said "oh you were just in our chicago store" noting the excalation...I asked her if there was one from my home store, she said nope!
A-holes!
On paper this plan is well worth it, the problem is execution!
Chris
I guess the question then is, do the new epics come loaded with eb13 or di18?
this is a little off topic but best buy insurance sucks i had a laptop that stayed there for a month and got it back and half of the problems sitll there they fixed my screen but i had no sound though the audio ports and battery lasted for 10 mins... so i just ordered the parts (ebay) myself and fixed it myself
Black tie definitely sucks! My wife and I both have epics, she has black tie and I have the TEP. Well she dropped her phone a while back and cracked the screen, took it to best buy for repair. It took them over a month for it to get repaired. The idiots sent it off with the wrong serial number, so the repair shop sent it right on back. She sent it off in November and didn't get it until past the new year...
If you need a loaner phone from them while it gets repaired, you'll have to pay a $100 to use that loaner phone. Sure you'll get it back when you return the phone but what's the point of paying 10 a month?
I on the other hand, had issues with my headphone jack, went into the sprint store and right then and there they tried fixing my phone. It coudln't be fixed on site, so they just gave me a new phone. I was in the store for just about an hour. It's the way to go.
One more thing the TEP covers that Black Tie doesn't is lost or theft. If you lose your phone, your screwed under black tie. Under the TEP, you'll have to pay the $100 deductible, but at least you won't have to rebuy the phone at full price. She's switching over to TEP for sure now. Just like the previous poster stated, great idea, poor execution...

Waiting-[WF9] Wait for Customer Confirmation-NTF
i'm hoping NTF doesn't mean no trouble found.....as my bezel was creaky and the screen could be pushed down below the bezel...not to mention the light bleed.
Yep, NTF = No Trouble Found or Nothing To Fix (I've heard it referred to as both).
did you send it to texas?
how long did it take between delivery confirmation, and your rma being trackable?
i ask because i got delivery confirmation from UPS yesterday, and my tracking number still says "You have reqeusted RMA no. for the machines below; however, they have not been received by us." They also spelled "requested" incorrectly.
so if you press on your screen and it slips below the bezel, that's normal....and having light bleed, that's normal...and the copper flecking off that's normal and not covered under warranty...let me guess, they'll charge me to mail it unfixed back to me. yes sent to texas, they've had it since wed...
Where do you check your RMA status?
Nevermind. Found it. Mine is repaired and on it's way! Woohoo (Bet it does not get here until Monday now though as it was sent today)!

i'm hoping they do 1 or 2-day shipping.
UK it's being sent from Czech Republic. Was sent on Monday. Signed for on Tuesday. Repaired and sent out today (Friday) so a pretty quick turnaround really.
never seen a company so brutal in regards to fixing problems...they must be swamped with returns and are losing money...never had this kind of problem with Dell.
Tell me about it, a bunch of true pricks for sure. The idea was great and I never considered how much execution matters but matter it does. They've already admitted that the cost of the unit barely makes even, they receive the profits from the keyboard dock. Their ****ty QC has probably led to so much returns that they're desperate to stop this cut in their profits that wouldn't be there if they didn't **** out on QC, in other words, focused on execution.
If they had told me it would take this long from the beginning I wouldn't have even bothered. Two weeks they said, it's two weeks now, so what's it really going to be? Five months?
It's not even virgin anymore, they've violated her. I guarantee when I get it back and use it, two days later the thing will die. Just never going to put up with their **** again, there's always a first time for everything. Glad I learned now rather than later.
What's funny is in the order they give, "Waiting" occurs before "Repairing" which is logical. One must have the parts to start a repair. Mine was in repairing then it went to waiting for parts. I guess in Asus crazyland the repair starts before they get the parts. Maybe they opened it up and are using the screen part of the bezel as a coaster while they wait for the parts they should have had or ordered before starting the repair.

That's also a funny part. I've read that the TF2 may be out as early as October.
Maybe they should try fixing the **** they dump on consumers before creating a new revision already. I think we'd like one without the ****ed up massive lightbleed screens, little hairy dust pieces under the glass, AC adapters that don't charge or blow up when they do and last but most certainly not least, springy bezels that were imported from Sonic the Hedgehog Act 1.

i called asus, told them i saw a note where they're waiting for my confirmation...they had no clue what that meant..said it could mean anything...i have to talk to a guy in europe/asia to find out what a guy in texas wants in regards to my transformer. How about just emailing me that you can't find the problem i listed in a page long letter..even though i pointed it out very clear and precise. Maybe i'll get it back someday, in pieces and COD most probably.
Yup, the last part is likely since CheyenneDonna get hers back with a gouge on the back.
Regretting ever having sent it in. With Asus crazy-land, nothing is as it seems. You would think after having the first one returned the next one from a later batch would have better QC. Not the case. Then you would think sending a defective unit in would come back better than it was before. Not the case.
So next time I'll play by Asus crazy-land rules, instead of giving them my money I'll keep my money.
i should have went with my first inclination, selling it on ebay at a huge loss.
Product Received >[ Waiting-[WB1] Wait for Material/Spare Parts ] > Repairing > Final Testing > Packing > Ready for Shipping > Repair Finished

Ok I called Asus and now they are accusing me of damaging the tablet. I am so mad right now!
I wish I had read this thread before sending my device in, stupid on my part. The only issue I had was that, if I turned brightness over 50%, the backlight would shut off and not come back on for anything.
Anyways, I subscribed to this thread. Ill let you guys know how the RMA process goes. My device arrived on Monday and I had a confirmation that the device was confirmed and keyed in on Thursday.
And the transformer that I rma'd is my second one after the first bricked by FOTA.
Where do you check the status? I've been working with an Asus rep via these forums.

Any "constructive" ideas that might help me out?

If there's no noticeable physical damage int he corner you could probably send it in as a defect. And why on earth you not put at least a case on the damn thing, regardless of looks. I almost want to tell you that you deserve it.
Ya think Ill definately get the Insurance.
Try returning it to wherever you got it from and hope they accept it
Otherwise you can pay Samsung to fix it for you or order parts an DIY
Do you have insurance? If so then they may give you one with a deductible fee
I am very disappointed by the s3 build quality, why couldn't they design a durable phone like s2

Poor guy. Well, the obvious is that this is a case of cracked LCD. However, my next question would be where did you buy it? If you opted in for Best Buy's Black Tie, you could get that repaired/replaced at no charge (with the exception of your monthly payment you pay). If not, Asurion will charge $125 deductible.. or the service centers are $99 last time I looked (I've been out of the repair game a few months).
If the crack isn't evident (because it is har dot tell in the image) where you can see the crack of the LCD (not the glass of the digitizer, as that appears to be fine) but the spider web effect of the LCD... the store might unknowingly exchange it. Personally, I'd be honest with them. I had a defective EvoLTE that I was waiting to swap when three days before S3 release I dropped it and cracked the corner of the digitizer. Best Buy was kind enough to exchange me anyway, simply because I spoke up and said what happened.
Best of luck to you!
Actually most places will still let you add on the insurance since its still under the 30 day window. Just wait it out a few days and then see about getting it fixed.
Did you cry yourself to sleep that night?
Ouch... I'd probably be depressed if I was you lol. But hopefully you'll get a replacement. Good luck

best bet claim insurance, 199 deductible(assuming since s2 variants are still 199)
http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/en_US/pdf/wireless-phone-insurance-deductible-schedule.pdf
Thanks to all these I dropped my S3 threads that are starting to popup I got a 30% off coupon at square trade and bought a ADH warranty.
The problem is that the att stores do not have them and you will have to ship it off I believe. In any event, a hassle. For those of you that get your phone go to ATT or wherever and slap a case on it You have 30 days on the case also. So what if it is not your ultimate case. Protect the phone! It is slippery!
I have mine in a TPU case (8 bucks) and a neoprene sleeve I've had for a while.

Indeed, an iPhone 5 (focus on the 5) is not bad at all. In the Netherlands you often get a crappy budget phone as a replacement.
Sorry for you dobknobby though. Poor girl didn't know what she did. I can imagine it's hard not to get mad in such a situation, even if it's your own 2 year old girl who did it
That sucks, if i had a kid id head straight for a case that's nigh on bombproof, something like an otterbox armor case.
Least it's insured, so you'll get it back soon enough.
Try putting it in a zip lock bag full of rice for a few days...do not try to power the device on. I've got 6 kids so a few of my phone's have taken a dip. Rice soaks up moisture. Hope this helps

Ahh... ill just stick to a 32gb one then.
I saw lot of people reviving their iphones after dropping them in the toilets, I wonder why you couldn't with the One.
Can you try again? Open the sim tray and take it off from the phone, try using the hairdryer directly on the slight openings there or even from the USB slot for 10-15 mins.
Try this 2-3 times.
I had some perfume juice leaking on the touch screen of my old pioneer car audio,it took 6 months to dry completely and rework again, but perfume juice is more difficult to dry and I didn't use a hair dryer
I guess i maybe didnt catch it quick enough, i still have the handset, and now it still dont want to turn on, i plug into charge and no led lights show up, nothing... tried using a hairdryer, rice, even been sat in the airing cupboard for about 2 weeks. Really bizarre...
However, iPhone 5 finally going today (Been Sold) and EE have kindly given me a second line, and i get my new One delivered today. Cant Wait! I felt naked without it!!

To then opening up the box, HUGE gap at the top, i mean literally HUGE. About 3mm in size i can fit my credit card in the slot.
Another huge gap at the bottom, about 2 mm in size..
and a HUGE 2cm scratch down the side shiny part of the aluminum....
So i call EE... extremelly not happy, i have a courier coming tomorrow with 2x handsets to swap one over with mine. They will be both sealed in boxes, and i get to choose (Sending 2 tells me the lady on the phone was well aware of these build qualities)... but to my surprise, both handsets will be from different warehouse to maximise the possibility of being different batches, One from Orange telesales (Which will be a locked handset) one from Central Distribution center in Newcastle (Will be a Generic unlocked HTC Handset), i asked if they could check one for me before sending it out. No can do, the lady stated they have to be sealed because of them running on android any kind of software could be put on the phones which is a security breach. . .
So... ill keep you all posted to as what the quality is like. . . delivery in between 9am and 1pm.
Wish me luck.
Well at least they are taking your satisfaction seriously, that's nice to see.
I wish you good luck man!
Wish you good luck!
